I started my 408 Windsor custom crate engine build search a year ago. Everybody knows an engine is an investment and many of us cant just risk our well deserved and hard earned money. I wanted excellent parts and labor at a fair price. Quality at a fair price and reliability are the keys. I requested prices and spoke to many engine builders in the US mainland. States included North Dakota, South Dakota, California, Arkansas, Arizona, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, Texas, Michigan, Indiana and a couple more I dont remember at the moment. Trust me, it took me a whole year to perform a detailed research, while of course saving money for my build. Conversations included parts quality, block year, machining (sonic magnafllux, pressure test, etc.) procedures, oil type and grade, bolts, pistons, rings, rods, camshaft (lifts, duration, lobe separation, etc.), crankshaft, bearings (fully grooved), oil and water pump, pump shaft, oil pans, rockers arms, lifters, push rods (dia. and wall thickness), heads, valves, valves angles, valve seat, guides, intake manifolds height, gaskets, carburetor, vacuum, warranty, dyno proven results, years in the business, paint (can spray vs. two part), etc.. Some got upset when asked about parts brands and quality...may be they dont want you to know what cheap Chinese brands they are using!!!. After a year of research I decided to go with Proformance Unlimited as they were transparent with all the questions I had. They will use top of the line quality parts and brands. They are building my engine at the moment. I trust these guys with my build. I will keep you posted once my engine is received and running. So far excellent experience. Steve, Doug and Mat seems like a winning team so far..one year later and the engine is super!! very happy with my decision.

Got my fully built Chevy 350 through Proformance Unlimited. Got to also meet the staff and tour their shop. They are experienced and down to earth, super helpful, and very professional. They will build exactly what youre looking for. They are pricy compared to other engine builders that I have checked out but TRUST me when I say it is 120% worth the extra money.Save up and go with their recipe as they also have so many options to choose from and have been building engines for a long time. They offer a variety of add-ons to consider such as a billet serpentine kit, chrome intake, and chrome valve covers/air cleaner to personalize your engine the way YOU like it. My engine was selected by Summit Racing to be featured on their Facebook page which drew a lot of admiration to the setup I had chosen to go with.They use quality parts and dial in their engines right where theyre supposed to be. My engine runs like its fuel injected! They dyno all of their engines and make a checklist before delivering to you as well so you wont have to worry about pulling your brand new engine for some sort of failure.Overall, I would 100% recommend their business to anyone that needs an engine for their hot rod or air boat. Dont be cheap and get it done right the first time!
