Very clean and the workers are very good with all the information you need love this place
Heaven forbid you have one question. Called asking if they rent out a firearm for their shooting range or if I had to bring my own and the man who answers acts like I want to try and use a 4K rifle off the shelf. Just wanted to try a different style of firearm before I bought one off of them. Learn some manners.
Went there last week the place is under new ownership. It is now called Range 42 Very nice people working there. Rates are very reasonable they do not have guns to rent yet they are still waiting on there license but said they were going to be renting. They dont allow.hi power rifles and handguns up to 44 magnum. The ammunition is not overly priced ether.I will be going back when i am in the area it was a nice place.
I went to this facility for a gun training and safety class and my experience was nothing short of excellent, the owner was very polite and patient as well as being very knowledgeable, he and his son made me feel very comfortable. I highly recommend this facility. Keep up the good work guys, your the Best !!!
Got a response from the owner. I hung up after you said “ you’re not going to come in here grabbing every gun off of my shelf and trying them out” when I asked about only one. I said I wasn’t asking to come in and try every firearms and act like an idiot or thug. Just wanted to try something else before I spent 2k+ if you had it available which you never even answered! Take the advice of the many other people like myself who’ve left reviews and please learn some respect for your customers.
Solid facility and reasonably priced. Have shot here several times and always a positive experience. However, as a previous commenter mentioned, make sure you call before you go because they do not always adhere to their posted hours and their automated message when you call is never updated to reflect changes in hours. If nobody answers save yourself the drive and just assume they are closed even if it is during their posted hours of operation.
Hickory Ridge firearms, like other cold ranges has a list of rules to make shooting a comfortable experience. Policing ones brass is a courtesy to fellow shooters. Start with a clean stall and end that way for the next shooter. Having been a NRA instructor in the past, range safety was always a priority, which meant clearing the action of a firearm before leaving the firing line. Anything less endangers the lives of other customers. Perhaps this recent complainant should review the safe handling procedures published from the NRA.
I recently had a magazine issue so I took it up there to see if they could help me out. The man there was very helpful and resolved my issue at no cost. Much better customer service than stonewall. I will be shooting here again soon.
As a near newbie (havent shot anything for about 25 years) I decided to take a class from Hickory Ridge Firearms, beginning the process towards getting my CC permit. Good decision. Steve started me out with the very basics in safe handling, explanation of the gun parts and how they work, highly informative and very interesting. Not everyone will need to start at this basic level, to be sure, but he made it pleasant. I appreciate that he teaches without making a person feel dumb, that is a gift. Friendly and relaxed, he emphasizes safety and control over all else. When we progressed to the range, his reminders on position and technique were appropriate and patient, helping me to stay relaxed and improve my accuracy.Highly recommend this range, and the beginners class is outstanding, in my opinion.
My name is Officer Justin Harvey with the Medina Township Police Department. I have been made aware of a rating that was given for Hickory Ridge using my name and associating my place of employment. The review made three weeks ago was not made by me. It in no way reflects my opinion of the business. I have not yet utilized the facility but plan to in the near future. I will give a review of 5 stars because I have to give a rating. If my rating changes after I have utilized the facility I will change my review. I will be corresponding with Google in an attempt to get the post removed and identify the poster.
CCW class is top notch. I am newbie to firearms and multiple instructors were very patient and helpful with me. I will be going back to take lessons! Thank you!
This is a very professional first-class place. Clean. Safe.Organized. Supervised. Steve, the owner, does not tolerate horseplay or carelessness on the range. His prices are fair and he stands behind what he sells. Gives free insightful advice on guns and technique. I couldnt ask for anything more from a range or gunshop. Plus the piped-in jazz/rock music and the laid-back atmosphere make it a place to hang out and just shoot the breeze.
I recently attended a CCW class here. It had the potential to be a miserable experience. It wasnt. Instructors kept it interesting and engaged the class at every opportunity. On the range we had three instructors that monitored safety and provided professional instructions to help even the most experienced among us improve their skills. It aint fancy, but youll learn plenty and come away a better shooter for it.
Great place to get some target practice in! Emphasis on safety and the workers are not rude or unfriendly. Compared to Stonewall, HUGE upgrade. Their available days and hours of operation are great. If youre looking for a variety of guns in store to buy, may not be your place. Only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is the inability to shoot high powered rifles like a .233 or 5.56 NATO round.
Hickory Ridge Firearms, like any other range has rules in place to keep everybody SAFE and have an enjoyable shooting experience. Lets take a look at Mr. Harveys complaint.Cleaning up your brass, really?Walking around with a LOADED GUN behind the firing line, try that at ANY range and watch what happens to you, cop or not.Rapid fire, most ranges dont permit that.Semiauto shotguns, yep they are allowed.(no steel shot)2 People in a stall. yeah thats allowed even with 3 people.Rifles, OK but pistol caliber only.We would be more than happy to discuss these rules with you to avoidany problems in the future, feel free to stop by and see us.
Hickory Ridge Firearms like many other ranges in the area have a set of rules and regulations one must adhere to while on their range. As a NRA Certified Range Safety Officer I choose a range solely on the safety aspects that it provides. I have been a Member of Hickory Ridge for a good while now and choose to remain there due to the Safe operation of the range. I have been on other ranges in the area and some I will not return to because of the unsafe operation of the range. Rapid fire on a public range can cause a whole host of problems. One must remember to take into consideration the safety of others also on the range at the same time. The rules allow up to 3 persons to share a stall but only one person at a time from the group may fire from that stall. To do otherwise would be reckless and endanger others out on the range. One can shoot rifles of pistol caliber while on the range. Only High powered calibers arent allowed. Again this is an indoor range and it would be unsafe to fire High Powered rounds indoors. Personally I wouldnt want to be on a range of that size where someone is shooting a High Powered round. If one wants to shoot a High Powered rifle find an Outdoor Range where it is much safer and designed for such usage. Theres a big difference between 50 feet and 100-200 yard ranges. Semi Auto Shotguns are allowed but no Steel Shot being the exception. Policing your Brass is a courtesy to other shooters and prevents someone slipping on your brass. Over all Hickory Ridge is a very safe operation. The owner is always looking to keep it safe and will not tolerate unsafe behavior, actions on the range. Any range prohibits the carrying of loaded weapons away from the firing line. Again this is done for the Safety of everyone on the range at that time. The owner does offer Basic Gun Safety and Handling courses for those that might need them.
Great place hand gun target practice
Nice range. Well light compared to others. Friendly staff. The targets are a little more but they have cardboard for free. Closed Mondays
Had a gun transferred from online to here. Very good overall for range/staff. Range rates are a bit high, ammo also seems high (like any range). Staff was friendly though, which seems oddly rare at some of these gun stores..
I purchased a firearm via Buds gun shop and had it shipped here for the transfer. The transfer fee was cheap but the owner was EXTREMELY RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL. I will never give him my business again. It gets one star for the cheap transfer fee otherwise Id give them zero stars. Id stick with Fin Feather & Fur or the Parma Armory. Parma Armory has excellent customer service!
Hickory Ridge is very well run and managed. The rules there are meant to keep shooters safe.
Nice place to go and work on your skill...had an issue with my gun jamming... they helped me with it no problem..
Awesome. Go there almost once a week. No one bothers you or hovers over you. Great place
Nice local indoor range. The owner is helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to shooting handguns.
Nice people. Clean. I loved it! First time shooting.
I work for Medina Township Police and these guys are a holes. The gun range has so many rules that makes you feel like you’re in a daycare. I was yelled at for not cleaning up my shells and was even yelled at for walking with my loaded firearm to the back table. You are not allowed to shoot rapid fire, no rifle cartridges, no semi auto shotguns like saiga, two people arent allowed to shoot in same stall at same time and many ither stupid rules. Need I say more? Stay away.
Ive always had good customer service. I prefer this over any other indoor range and so do my friends.
The owner is extremely disrespectful and try’s to belittle anyone I’ve seen him talk to. If you have a question you are better off not asking him because he will talk to you like you are a child. Myself and any of my shooting buddies have said the same thing. This place will never get my business again and I live about 5 minutes away. There is a new range opening in the very near future on the corner of 303 and 252. The owners name is Jeremy and his current shop is rivers edge tactical, right behind samoskis pizza. He is moving his shop to the new building as well. Jeremy is a great guy and this range will be top notch I was told you can shoot up to 50 bmg if you have the courage to shoot that indoors. His transfer fees are also very fair at $25. I highly suggest taking your business to him and he will be glad to answer any and all questions. He also has a class 3 license for all your nfa needs.
I have been here one time to shoot. The ventilation was so poor you could feel the smoke and lead dust in the back of your throat after just a short period. If I have to shoot indoor, Parma Armory and Rivers Edge Tactical are the place to do it
Great service and great variety for what my boyfriend and I were looking for!
Owner has this sarcastic demeanor to him. somewhat rude when we first walked in but was really helpful showing my sister how to fire a gun.
Bought a $1300 rifle from there, and two weeks later I need a .17 cleaning rod and they made a scene and moaned and complained behind the counter cause I needed to use a debit card. Just tell me there is a minimum, and thats fine... Ill leave. But to make a scene and act like that? Pathetic... As I promised I did take my ass to Fin, Feather, and Fur and have continued to deter people from your store...
Here is what I do not like about this place:1. You have to shoot a minimum of 1 hour, or be charged for one full hour.2. You cant shoot more than 1 shot every 3 seconds; this makes no sense to me - you cannot argue safety as the range attendant handed some one a .45 revolover and said This is a revolver, this is how to open it.... Thats pretty scary that a complete novice can go in and shoot a rented gun, but I cant pull the trigger more than once every 3 seconds - its just dumb.Other then that it is an ok place - only place around that you can shoot inside, I wont be back to spend the money for an hour of range time.
Average gun range. Little selection. Overpriced stuff. Serious lead inhalation on the range for sure. Cr@p ventilation.
CALL BEFORE YOU DRIVEAfter driving all the way out to the range I found out they decided to close two hours early. My advice: call these guys before you waste you time showing up during their business hours, especially the tail end of their business hours.
Great service and cheap ammo.
Ok range, bullets seem to be marked up high, I bought 20 rounds of 7.62x39 for 13 dollars there and everywhere else I have only paid 5.99.
Great knowledgeable owner.
Friendly staff and other people shooting shared ideas
Excellent place to shoot
Owner is extremely rude. Prices are significantly higher than the other area stores. Spend your money somewhere else
Love this place
