Weve been with Studio Roxander for a few years now. We tried out a couple other studios, but this one surpassed them by far. The instructors dont let the kids get away with anything, and instill respect and discipline while still being kind and fun. I will say, if youre child feels half-hearted about dance or just wants a place to wear a tutu, this may not be the place for you, as they are passionate and serious about driving high-quality instruction and expect their dancers to work hard.
I was so pleasantly surprised. The dancers were remarkable. They are extremely talented. I have seen the Nutcracker with more experienced dancers. However the one we saw at the Roxander studio out did any others I have seen. It was a very enjoyable evening. Thank you all for a wonderful experience! Will definitely make this an annual event.
I love ballet! I have been doing it for about 7 years and our first choice was Studio Roxander because they hand a fun, joyful, clean learning environment for younger children. If I could give Studio Roxander more than 5 stars I would.#twothumbsupandstarsxinfinity
Both of my kids go here. Its a great experience for both of them my son and daughter love everything from the classes the teachers and performing. The entire group is like a huge family all the parents are also helpful to one another. Its great!! Definitely suggest anyone whos kids want to dance and gain self confidence in there abilities to try this place out.
My daughter has gone to Studio Roxander for several years. Weve seen wonderful growth in both her dancing and her character. Weve always felt 100% supported and cared for. The great thing about Studio Roxander is that while they run a very professional studio, they still keep their focus on creating a nurturing environment for the kids. I feel very lucky to have them in the Rogue Valley!
We have had our daughter at 2 different studios in the valley from 3years to 9 and we have FINALLY found a home! I am truly thankful for the confidence and guidance Elyse and Mary give my daughter! She was able to live a dream of hers by dancing in the Nutcracker! She just finished Surealia (an original work of art by Rocky and Elyse!) and can no WAIT to get back into the studio! Thank you Elyse and Rocky again from the bottom of our hearts for working so hard to encouraging and inspiring these younger ballerinas!
My 7 year old daughter has just completed her 4th year at Studio Roxander and we couldnt be happier with the studio and the instructors! After comparing studios, I chose the Roxanders because they seemed to really care about their dancers and were a far cry above the rest. After being there for the first few months, I knew I had chosen right, and now, 4 years later, I can say that the difference they have made in my little girls life is astounding. She loved dance before, but she decided to make it her lifes goal to be a ballet teacher because of the love of ballet shown her by the wonderful instructors that shes had.I took ballet for a few months when I was 9 but I didnt stick with it. It wasnt fun and it was very confusing. If I had been shown the level of caring, excitement and fun that my daughter has found at Studio Roxander, I never would have quit!If youre looking for a ballet school for your child, or even yourself, this is definitely the one I recommend.
This place is awesome. Every one of these girls and boys are well mannered and contained. Great place to have a child in.
My daughters (3 and 4 years old) absolutely love taking ballet here. The classes have really inspired them and sparked a great joy of dancing in them. The team is really great with kids and the prices are very affordable. The classes max out at 8 students for our age group, which is kind of a lot, but could be worse.I do have a few small complaints. My daughters are only 3 and 4 and we are all new to ballet, so Im not really sure how other studios operate. With my limited knowledge, it seems that the teachers dont put too much effort into helping kids who dont have a natural gift. My older daughter is much less coordinated than my younger daughter, and when she is doing a move wrong, the teacher doesnt put much effort into correcting her. Shes not the type of student who can just look at the teacher and copy. She needs a little more. I put her in ballet to help her gain some grace, coordination, and bodily awareness, and she doesnt seem to be getting that. I will probably keep her in ballet because she loves it so much, but I wish she was getting more out of it! My younger daughter has only taken a couple classes since she turned 3 and I can already see that shes learning a lot. She has much more natural coordination and bodily awareness, she shes having a much easier time of it.Also, I have many other friends with kids their age in ballet (in other locations around the country) who showed me videos of their kids recitals. Their performances put this studios to shame. There was much more choreography and coordination among the kids. This was disheartening as a parent.
Our older two daughters have been dancing at Studio Roxander for the last two years, and our youngest started in January. After spending a couple of years at a different studio, and seeing the progress and difference in their confidence and skill level since weve been here, I can confidently say that there is no comparison. We LOVE the Roxanders! The classes are technical, as well as fun, and our girls are thriving and constantly begging to do more classes. Mr. Rocky, Miss Elyse, Miss Melyssa, and Miss Mary are amazing teachers. Theyre firm when necessary, but more importantly reflect the positive, encouraging environment that is Studio Roxander. We are looking forward to adding summer workshops to our oldest daughters schedule and cant wait to see the growth that we know will come out of it.If youre looking for a fantastic ballet academy, this is it. If youre looking for teachers who will instruct with the perfect balance of warmth and structure, they are here. If youre looking for an environment for your dancers that is healthy, positive, supportive and inclusive, it is here.Thank You, Rocky & Elyse and Studio Roxander, for your commitment and love for dancing, and for inspiring our kids!!
My eldest daughter has danced at Studio Roxander for one year now, and my youngest began this past winter. Their experiences have been nothing short of phenomenal. I have been amazed at how they have grown both in technique and in their love of ballet, not to mention the continued eagerness they have to see their fellow classmates and teachers. The Roxanders offer a rare combination of highest level ballet instruction and a warm and embracing environment. Honestly, I do not know how they do it.This past weekend was our first time participating in their original ballet performance Surelia. I was hesitant about the time commitment and whether it would feel worth it at the end. Now that it is over, my daughter and I feel so privileged to have been able to participate in such a beautiful production. I was moved to tears both as a proud mother and as an awed spectator. One needs only to watch the higher level dancers to be assured of the quality of the teaching or to read about their incredible track record at Youth America Grand Prix to understand the caliber of the teachers.Studio Roxander is truly a gem in Southern Oregon, and I am so grateful to Rocky, Elyse, and the entire ballet academy staff for their commitment to my daughters and to all their dancers and families!
My daughters have taken classes at Studio Roxander for the past four years. I have the utmost respect for the teachers and their methods. I have found a wonderful atmosphere of encouragement and patience from Miss Elyse, Miss Mary, and Miss Melyssa - they balance both discipline and creativity in their classes. The annual performances of Surealia and Nutcracker are stunning. In my opinion, no other school in this valley comes close to the professionalism displayed by so many young, talented Studio Roxander dancers.
The Roxanders are amazing teachers, they have the highest quality instruction and the most professional technique. They have helped my children grow in confidence, athletic ability and most of all happiness. Thank you, Studio Roxander.
Families!! I am not one to ever complain or offer my opinion on a company. But Im here to give you a heads up... If you are wanting to take your littles to a dance class starting at age 3. I dont feel that this is the place to start your kids out at. We paid $185 to start and the teacher Melissa was very unfriendly and expected 3 year olds to hop into dance the very first day without even introducing dance to the kids. ..neither did she introduce the girls to one another...she had the attitude like its 9 am...I dont want to be here... I had high hopes but then I witnessed other little girls not wanting to go into her class. There are no refunds...so if you have high hopes as I had...I would check it out first instead of going off of their website which is misleading. Our kids are supposed to be learning how to dance and get along at this age... They shouldnt be jumping into dance the 1st minute on their first day. A better introduction for an introductory dance class would be a great place to start!!!!! Our kids are learning...they arent quite ballerinas yet! my daughter didnt step foot in one out of 3 classes...and the owner refused to give us back our money but $33. Sad day!Maybe check out: miss Dianas ballet or turning point dancer.
My daughter has been dancing at Studio Roxander for over 6 years. She has learned and grown so much as a dancer!!! We feel that the studio (the staff and other dancers) are an extension of our family and we are so blessed to have such qualified, professional teachers here in our valley. They care about their students- both on and off the dance floor. Thank you, Studio Rox!
My twins have studied ballet with the Roanders for years. They have made great friends at this studio, participated in top notch productions, and gained skills that help them on and off the dance floor. Thanks to Studio Roxander, one of my girls loves ballet so much she doesnt want to do anything else. And my other daughter has incredible self-confidence with public speaking and acting that I credit to the discipline of ballet class and time spent on the stage during The Nutcracker and Surealia.
We love love love the Roxanders! As a former ballet dancer I searched for a dance studio that would teach my daughter the technique and discipline it take to be a great dancer in the most loving, fun, supportive environment. When we found Studio Roxander I knew it was the right choice! My daughter has LOVED her classes and instructors from the very beginning and looks forward to ballet every week!I have personally had the privilege to interact with both owners and I have to say they have always been nothing but helpful and a joy to work with!Lastly I personally have taken classes with Melyssa W. and find her a joy to be taught by! Never once has she been anything but positive in class and helpful in growing the ability of her dancers! While my daughter has not yet had the privilege to be taught by her I would have no qualms at all placing her in one of Melyssas classes!Studio Roxander is an amazing place! Full of love and support! I would and have recommended them to anyone looking to place a child in dance classes or take a class yourself!
My 6 year old daughter has been dancing with Studio Roxander for 3 years now, and we couldnt be happier! She has had all 3 teachers (Meylissa, Elise, and Mary) and we love them all! It is age appropriate teaching at the young end so the little girls learn to love it instead of being pushed so hard that they get burnt out. My daughter will be 7 this fall and is begging me to add a 2nd class to her dance week. She cannot wait to be part of The Nutcracker and Surealia - which by the way are always OUTSTANDING performances!Thank you SR, for providing such a warm and pleasant environment for my little ballerina!
Our daughter has been with Studio Roxander for two years and loves it! She just finished the spring ballet (Surealia, an original ballet) and is already practicing at home for Nutcracker auditions 3 months from now! We moved to Medford two years ago and felt Studio Roxander was the best in Medford and we have been impressed beyond hopes and expectations!
Great studio 5/5
Looks clean from the outside
