Bill and his team are really something else! In all the years I had my car serviced at a certified Toyota dealer, I have never gotten even close to the service Bill has provided. Before I begin, Id like to disclose that the vehicle in question is a Platinum range Cadillac DTS; a vehicle that Bill and his crew at Midas have told me directly is the nicest, best kept Cadillac theyve seen in a long time. I love my car, I keep her in excellent running order and I dont trust her to just anyone.This review covers two separate service visits. The first was to address a very serious brake problem; there was very little pressure in the system, the pedal went straight to the floor and brake fluid was leaking everywhere. I took her into my local Midas shop first thing on a Monday morning, without an appointment. Bill and his crew were outstanding, they got her in, found the problem (a damaged brake line) and conducted repairs that same day.The second visit, almost exactly a year later, was to address a cooling system problem; the temperature gauge spiked during normal driving, and low coolant levels despite no detectable leaks. Again, I turned to my local Midas without an appointment, and once again, Bill and his crew were outstanding. While they couldnt perform repairs immediately for need of replacement parts, they still got her in and diagnosed the problem that same day (pinholes in the joint near the radiator end cap). Jacob, the technician who performed the diagnostic/repair, was especially helpful. He carefully and patiently explained the situation to me, answering all my questions in detail.The entire process for both visits was very easy. Bill and his techs were helpful and pleasant, the diagnostics were accurate and transparent, the repair work was excellent and pricing was fair, certainly for a car like mine. They even took care to keep her white interior clean, no grease smudges at all!There are only two repair shops I feel I can trust my car to, and this is one of them. Go with confidence, Bill and his team at Midas have you covered.

Shout out to Bill and the two mechanics yesterday. I was having a very difficult day and had a very bad noise suddenly happening and progressively getting worse as I traveled to Mason to bring a friend in for a medical emergency. After leaving my friend in ER because of an appointment I had, I could hear the problem was even worse and terrified to drive home thinking my front wheel was probably going to fall off.. I just walked in and said help me, I am from out of town and having a rotten day. I am not happy with the news (front axle) but very satisfied that they willingly checked quickly to find the issue and gave me confidence to get home safely with melting goceries. The diagnostic was about half the cost I expected. Very proffesional guys.

We were visiting from Florida and herd a noise in the front strut area on our Santa fe. Bill had his guys check it out they assured us that we were going to be fine, and it was not a big problem. It was just a loose ball joint for the sway bar. We were greatfull for his time. Being from out of state they could have fabricated something, and we would have believed him. We were Charged a small fee for their time and expertise. Thanks guys!!!

Super friendly and professional, not to mention very informative! They took me back to my car and showed me exactly what was wrong with it and what they were going to do to fix it. I appreciated that they explained everything to me and even had it all written out for me on my receipt when I checked out. This was the first time I ever went to a car repair shop without my dad and I felt really comfortable(as I am not very fruitful in the automotive department, so I’m not very confident going by myself). Highly recommend this place! Already have my oil change appointment scheduled :)

The window in my car was stuck halfway and wouldnt roll up, so I had to last resort call Midas. They tried to charge me upwards of 700$ for a regulator and a control switch. So i politely declined because I was not looking to spend that much on a simple repair. So I ended up paying 100$ for labor, which was just putting my window up to stay. Not only that, they barely put my door panel back on so I have to constantly be weary of my door, none of the switches or buttons (lock,side mirrors, etc.) are working anymore. Thanks to midas, my car is in worse condition than when I brought it in. Would not recommend. Completely overpriced and horrible service. :) save your car (and your wallet) and go to B & Js or Charlies !

I was in desperate need for new brakes and I knew Midas was the only place to go. Not only could they get me in when it was convenient for me, they didnt treat me like a person to be conned and try to charge me for things I didnt need. They took me to all 4 wheels and showed me how bad the breaks were. I also got a rebate to boot! Bill at Midas even text messaged me a few days later to be sure everything was going well. Talk about a wonderful place to get work done and know you can trust them.

My experience was very good. The were very friendly. They explained and showed what they were seeing was wrong and what they were going to do and didn’t do anything unnecessary just to get more money. They also pointed out that my registration was expired, oops. I have since taken care of that issue. Lol. If I hadn’t gone to Midas, I still may not have realized it, because Honda didn’t notice when I had it there a few days earlier.My brakes work great, they are firm again, they don’t squeak, and the cost was reasonable which gives me piece of mind. I may start taking my car to Midas for all of my car service instead of Honda from now on.

Very fast, polite and professional. Kept it simple even going as far as showing me how/ what they were doing that way we were all on the same page. I was completely satisfied with the visit overall especially the fact that they didnt spend most of the time trying to upsell me to other things like most shops and that alone, even though its a detail so small and wouldnt have adjusted any part of the initial reason for being there in any way, was the cherry on top for me. When ever I need service done, they will be my first option

I spoke with both Bill and Mitch about an awful noise my car was making. They did a quick diagnostic on the spot for me and had my parts ordered and car fixed the same day I went in to schedule it. I will continue to trust this Midas as the staff is always courteous and explains what maintenance or repairs needs to be done.

I called Bill at Midas on a Friday afternoon with some brake issues. Bill got me in the following Monday at 10 am! I was expecting at least a week wait, but no, dropped it off at 10, by 10:45 a mechanic showed me his suggestions and by 2:30 the sane afternoon I had brand new front brakes and rear suspension. Midas gave me a range of options and test drove it before getting back to me. I can’t recommend this place enough. Fast, professional, and friendly. They even let me sit in the lobby with my dog while waiting.I have since gone there for an oil change. I work most days during the day so when I had a chance late afternoon I called to see if Bill could get me in real quick. He said “bring it in down!” Got me in and changed my oil in 20 minutes! They also didn’t bother me with all the extra add-ons like a cabin filter which I really appreciate. I usually just put those in myself.

Several month ago I went to a mechanic shop in New Hope MN where I have had my 1965 Plymouth Valiant for over a year waiting for some repairs that included the exhaust system. I told them I was working in MN and intended to pick it up and drive it to Arizona. At the end of the week, Friday I showed up and the floor board was repaired, a new gas tank was installed but it leaked gas if the tank was full and the exhaust system was not touched. I paid the bill, went to my friends the Andersons to pick up some Valiant parts and headed out of town. The goal was to get a hotel in Mason City but driving under those conditions was challenging to say the least. I crashed almost to the border to Iowa. In the morning my friend Dave instructed me to drive to the Midas shop in Mason City and talk to the owner Bill Gansemer. He welcomed me to his shop and he was surprised with my situation, on a Saturday a few hours to closing time. I started to try to patch the muffler when Josh asked the owner Bill if he could work on my car. He went back to the old parts area and found an old style muffler that could work and Josh and Dylan went to town. Josh got the muffler installed after adjusting the pipes diameters, installed the tail pipe and I was ready to leave town. Their service was unbelievable, they finished and lowered the shop doors. When I went to pay I found out that Dave, my friend from Minneapolis had already taken care of the bill, it was an incredible demonstration of friendship. The end of 2019 and the start of 2020 have been quite challenging for me and my family but a good deed like this could not go un noticed. I highly recommend Bills Midas Shop in Mason City, and if you can, ask for Josh to work on your car. Josh I will try to post a picture of the Valiant in transit and I still owe you an Arizona post card. Thank to you guys I was able to drive to Arizona without being poisoned at 55 miles per hour with a top speed of 65 just a few times. The people on the freeway did not bother that I was going so slow and they appreciated to see a car just like the one they grew up with. Went without an apt on in on a rainy Saturday for work on mother in laws van. They promptly got me in for the work. They showed me the old parts needing replacement while it was on the vehicle, gave me an estimate on the new and updated me in remaining work time remaining until finished. Also pointed out something else that needed work, but did not pressure me to have it done. Had my dog along which I planned to walk while the work was being done, that was before the rain came! They were hospitable in letting the dog wait with me in the waiting area. Thx Mr Bill and your team for the great work, honesty, and time efficiency! I would definitely not hesitate going back. They took my 14 year old car and made it drive like new. The price I paid to fix it is far cheaper than buying a used/unreliable car for the same price. I was traveling from washington state to New Hampshire. I was worried that I was having transmission problems and fully ready to spend 1000 dollars. They got me in right away. Was getting ready to leave on vacation and noticed my power steering fluid on the ground. Being a Sat, there were no shops open and the one I talked to said the car would have to be taken to the dealership. With really no options remaining I called Bill at Midas and we were able to determine it was just leaking from the hose and he felt confident they could fix it. Left my car with Bill and his Midas team took care of the leak while I was on vacation! My wife and I were in town from Chicago for the holidays in 2018 and our car died while we were staying at the Park Inn. We were unable to get it started after several attempts jumping it with my mother’s car. I called Bill and he was so helpful. He offered to drive to the hotel to try and jump our car so we could save money by not getting a tow truck. He successfully got it started and we drove it back to Midas. We ended up needing a new battery and he recommended some filter changes as well. We also got an oil change since we were due for one. All of this was done within a few hours and was worth every penny. Bill is a wonderful person and I absolutely recommend going here for any of your automotive service needs.

My wife got her brakes on our van done and had nothing but issues with them and had to continue to go back. Ended up going to a Midas in Colorado that said the rotors that were put on only 30000 miles ago were needing replaced, thats horrible life for a rotors. Will never take another vehicle back to that place.

Their repair work always is top-notch.My battery failed recently during a period of below zero weather. Bill and his staff ran diagnostics to verify that the battery was at fault. They had the battery replaced and I was back on the road in a very short time. I appreciate their professional, quick service!

I had wanted to right a glowing review because every time I had this Midas do work for me in the past they did a great job. This time they didnt. One issue was the air conditioner which they fixed by replacing the freon but within 30 miles it wasnt working again. I returned and they found some gasket (an O ring?) that needed to be replaced as it was leaking. First, clearly the air conditioner was losing freon suggested by the fact is was empty. Second, because of this loss I had to drive the 30 plus miles to return for them to fix it. Third, they replaced the freon after they fix the seal and charged be a second time. I paid for this repair twice. I hope I dont have any mechanical problems in the near future that could be tended to by them as it will take a while to get over this one. I havent decided whether to return to them or not.

My car has some extra issues when I brought it in for an estimate and Bill made sure that it was running ok before I left. He even stayed a few minutes late instead of rushing it out the door. Highly recommend.

Used to get my oil changed here all the time on my Ford Escape. Then the air conditioner stopped working. They fixed it, but a few weeks later the air quit again. They ordered a new part, which fixed it for a few weeks, until it quit again. Long story short, I took my car back a total of 4 times, spent over $1500 and still dont have air conditioning. Super friendly staff - they really are nice people, but sadly werent able to fix whatever the issue is with my car.

He & the team will show me on my car what the problem is and show me the broken parts. Bill works with me to prioritize repairs in an affordable way. I trust Bill &his team. During a recent family vacation, in which we were traveling from Pennsylvania to Wyoming, we experienced some problems with our car. On a Saturday morning, about a thousand miles from home we searched for a garage and happened upon Midas, thankfully! The staff was so helpful! Bill was very kind and not only helped us to get back on the road as quickly as possible but assisted us in saving as much money as we could. Bill and Jacob were outstanding. I was having a problem with my battery. I called and they came right out. Got me up and going and followed me back to the shop so that they could check it out. I did need a new battery. They put one in and I was on my way again. Great customer service.

Called in the afternoon and went in the next morning. Showed us the problem and explained what they did to fix it. We were out in an hour or less. Great Job will come back!

Ive been a regular customer at Mason City Midas for about fifteen years. The first car I brought to Mason City Midas for Bill and his excellent crew to service was a 98 Olds 88! Throughout the years my cars received uniformly superior, timely work up to and including yesterdays work on my Honda pickup truck. Bill, Jacob and each of the other workers think beyond my description of repair needs to ensure a complete repair response. A lot of businesses these days ask for Five Star reviews. Mason City Midas is the one place for me where I never need to be asked for those FIVE STARS.

First off I didnt/havent actually had work done here. However I submitted a claim for an estimate and he got back to me in less than 15 minutes.Super nice and honest. If it was closer for my needs I would for sure go here. Still considering it however.
