Wow, first time I have seen the order brought out from the kitchen by elevator. Very cool in my humble opinion! Lunch on a weekday proved to be a little slow, as evidenced by a 10-15 minute order to service time. Quality of the eats made it totally worth it though. Leave room to top off any meal with the blonde brownie for a sweetness overload. Loved it! Reasonable price and enjoyable atmosphere for casual dining occasions.

This is a great spot in uptown Martinsville Virginia. The food has been delicious on the two occasions Ive visited, and the service was friendly. My first visit, I had the peanut butter bacon burger with house made chips. The chips and ranch were tasty, and the double duet of sweet and savory from both the peanut butter and the applewood smoked bacon was on point. On my second trip, I went with the Gatsby arrow, a croissant with roast beef, brie, pickled red onions, and Dijon mustard. The Brie and mustard and onions work together wonderfully, providing a delicious harmony of flavors over the baseline of the roast beef and buttery croissant.Id offer only two mild criticisms; service was not slow, but if youre in a rush at lunch, you might be slightly pressed for time, and that the more expensive sandwiches and a beverage and a reasonable tip put you at shouting distance from 20 bucks for lunch, which might be a bit steep for some.

Perfect atmosphere for my best friends 40th birthday celebration! Chasity was beyond helpful to make it perfect. The entire staff was wonderful!! Would recommend this to anyone wanting to celebrate or just grab a meal.

I just wanted to give a huge shout out to the owner and staff of Shindig Uptown Bistro. We had a birthday party there tonight and while they were short staffed, the service was amazing! The servers were second to none and worked there butts off to make sure everything was taken care of for each person. The owner went above and beyond to make our party over the top and accommodated everything we ask. They will definitely be getting a lot of business from our family and friends and I just wanted to say thank you for everything you did to make our evening special for our loved one!I give this restaurant a 5 Star rating for accommodations, food, pleasant atmosphere and the smiles on those girls faces all night even when I know they had to be overwhelmed. You guys are AWESOME!!

Loved the service and the food was delicious. We were a group of 8. I pre-ordered. The food came out soon after we arrived and got our drinks. The service person came to check on us at just the right times without been intrusive nor dismissive which is some of the encounters Ive had in other restaurants. I would definitely recommend you done there. Both lunch and dinner menus are great.

Wanted to take hubby out to lunch someplace special for his birthday. We shopped the antique shops. Went down the street to Shindig. We are whole food vegans for health reasons. The menu had no vegan options; not one, so we asked if the chef could make us a pizza and replace the meat and cheese with a few veggies. They refused to do anything for us and no restaurant has ever done that to us. How hard can it be to hold the meat and cheese and add a couple veggies. Made us feel awful. Ruined hubbys birthday lunch. We got up and left and had to drive around looking for a place to eat for his birthday. Ive owned businesses and I would never treat a customer the way we were treated.

Great atmosphere. Service was friendly and kept our group topped up. Food was fantastic and appealed to a wide range of palettes from adventurous to conservative. Overall a pleasant experience and one that I would recommend.

Great burger wonderful setting could use some background music noise as its a little echoing with just a few talking. Our host server was the only one working but no wait she was on the ball. We left our leftovers sadly. Great food quality was top notch. I sure hope locals support this place its great to have life in uptown areas that are supporting the area like they do. We are from Augusta GA and our downtown is slowly becoming what it once was. It starts with a great restaurant like this!

The atmosphere was amazing, but I would not eat there again, this was my first and last time eating there. The food was absolutely horrible. We ordered two cheesesteak omelets. They were burnt and hard, so we’re the potatoes, so we sent them back along with the breakfast skillet dish, because the sausage was not cooked.Please hire someone that knows how to cook.

Eaten here several times and have always enjoyed it thoroughly. Although the last time I was here I am almost positive the potato salad was the Amish potato salad from Walmart. I get it all the time and it was identical

This restaurant has improved exponentially. The menu rocks, I highly suggest the preserves and Brie appetizer. They have good fries and burgers. The folks I went with loved the pizzas and Chicken dishes! If you have gone here previously and had a bad experience, I highly suggest trying it again.

Everything was great until our waitress had to go for an alcohol run and left table unattended... then she brought our checks separately without asking if we wanted 1 or separate checks... I asked her to please bring only one check as I was buying for the nurses I work with in celebration of nurses week... well I dont think waitress was very happy about changing our check to a single one... when I extended my hand to get check she almost slammed on the table... cant make everyone happy... thats the first thing I noticed when I moved to this town... most people working on service industry are not very friendly 😒

Very slow service! Food was okay nothing spectacular. Even had to walk up to the bar myself to pay the bill. I cannot express how slow service was. Took almost 45 minutes just to get our meal (2 adults) with only four tables active in the entire restaurant.

Snagged a picture of their current menu, since online it is connected to the old Serendipity menu. I ordered The Portobello Goat Cheese Wrap on spinach, definitely pack some serious goat cheese flavor. I rather enjoyed it. My date ordered the Mahogany flavored wings and house fries.

The food was good. Service was great! The only reason I gave it a 2 star rating is because the owner is extremely rude and reprimanded his staff in front of customers. It made for a very awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere.

Second time eating here. Both times food was good. I can recommend the Appalachian chicken poutine. It was great. Service was good but a bit slow. Being a week night probably had limited staff. Prices are reasonable.

Food was excellent. Atmosphere was more like a club than a restaurant. Staff has little wine knowledge. A lot of people not wearing masks when entering.

Dining area was very nice. Food was good but it took 50 mins to serve us 2 cheeseburgers. This was during lunchtime and it was slow. They waiter could not find any ketchup in the whole restaurant which was very concerning. Good food just very unorganized. Will call in before I go next time.

A group of three of us, I’m visiting from Florida and my married friends went to try out Shindig’s. The craft beer selection was fantastic, the hot crab dip was very good that we had as an appetizer. I had the shrimp trio which was incredible, one had the chicken Alfredo and the other ordered the blackened salmon salad and everyone thoroughly enjoyed what they had. The ambiance was perfect and will be back as often as possible!

Service was terrible wait 2 hour never got my food

Great food and service last night! I had the cranberry Turkey on Ciabatta and it was great. My companion had the honey glazed chicken and i sampled it and we both thought it was terrific. Shindig is an asset to downtown and this area. Give it a try!

I just had a business lunch at Shindig. We were all very pleased and impressed with this new restaurant. The food and service was great. We had a seating area away from the other patrons and were able to have our business discussion with ease and privacy. Very nice place. I will come again. Highly recommended!

Nice place. Decor goes well for reviving the building. Waitresss need to keep up w/customers, register, etc. Uniform should be all black tees, or green to match walls & half aprons. If there is an event the tea should be free jas they order lunch w/event. Entice future customers.

Friendliest place in Martinsville!I was traveling through the area and Google suggested I might like to stop there for dinner... I got some wings and a salad... they were freaking awesome. I suggest you stop by if you are in the area. They have a full calendar of fun stuff, I wish I could have stayed longer. 😊

Great atmosphere. Need a latte, burger, Ruben, or chicken sandwich this is the place. With the move and change of venue they now serve dinner. This is my favorite spot for lunch and the new look and feel is amazing. Music in the background and they serve liquor as well. The most excellent menu and great prices.

I had the white cheddar roast beef and it was delicious. The seasonal pumpkin chili is good as well. The coffee could use some work as the mocha was settled in the bottom when we got it. The reason I gave it a four instead of a three is they have vegetarian and vegan options which made up for the coffee. It was nice being able to bring friends and family who dont eat meat.

Literally mold in my salad now 2 times... asked the owner and she just said sorry. Nothing done about it. No refund. Didn’t even eat.

This old building in uptown Martinsville blends its history with a modern flare. You can tell they put a lot of time into modernizing it from its roots a liquor store. I ordered the Turkey and Brie sandwich. With a thinly sliced apple hidden in the sandwich, it turned out to be delicious. The fun atmosphere here will definitely try this with friends for dinner.

Food was good. The music was good, it was to loud, couldnt here the band members singing. It was my first time. I would go back again.

We are slowly becoming regulars here. Love the drink specials and the food is quite good. Bartenders are very personable and efficient.

I took my mom and dad here one weekend when they came to visit me. With my dad being Italian, we are used to amazing food with tons of flavor. When we got there, we were not aware that we would need a reservation. Since I did not do research on the place previous to going, that was my fault. But no big deal- We sat at the bar since there was a 45 minute wait. The bartender was super nice and knowledgeable about everything going on. We ordered appetizers to share and enjoyed the environment. Great music and atmosphere. However, there was a guy working there who was running around frantic and in a panic. We noticed him yelling at some staff members as he was bringing out food and trying to keep up with the full restaurant. We felt bad for the staff because everyone was working really hard— We decided to have dinner at the bar too because none of the tables were opening up. Everything we ordered was excellent. From drinks to appetizers to meals to dessert. Flavors were there, the creativity was there— But nothing we ordered came out hot. Not a single thing. I wouldn’t even say our food items came out warm.... It was really disappointing to all of us. I guess the food was sitting for too long or the timing on when to cook what was off?? Not sure.... Would love to go back one day. Hopefully they find a good rhythm and flow to make everything run more smoothly.

It was very awkward when me and my family walked in. What looked like a manager and a server stared at us from across the restaurant while we waited to be seated, then turned back to each other and started to talk to one another again. There wasn’t a sign saying seat yourself. After we stood there for a few more minutes, I decided to walk up to them and ask if It was “seat yourself” she said “no not really” then told us to sit where ever. It was odd. I ordered the goat cheese salad and I asked for no tomatoes and to add chicken on my salad, It came with tomatoes, and It didn’t have chicken added. There was only two goat cheese crumbles on it. I had to ask the server and the manager both twice for water (which I needed before I even got my food) and I didn’t get It until I was almost done. I even got up one of the times because everyone at the table needed one. I love to give places the benefit of the doubt but there was only two other tables beside us in the whole entire restaurant.

The burger I got was a a well-done piece of gray meat with no sear, grill marks, or seasoning. It tasted like it was old. The macaroni salad was extremely dry and overpowered black flecks of some celery seasoning or something. The house chips are generic wavy potato chips from a bag.

A friend recommended Shindigs while we were visiting Martinsville. I cant comment on the food, because after having three plates sat in front of me, I never got the right food. Worse still, the food belonging to other customers that was sat in front of me was picked up and brought straight to them! This does not seem like a hygenic practice. We were a party of four and two members of our group received their food 15 minutes before the others. Luckily, the woman at the bar comped my food and the food of the other person in my group that was incorrect. The young waiter on the floor seemed like he was in way over his head taking orders of any kind. It didnt help that he didnt write them down. I would not go back.

Love eating here when I am in town to visit family. I use to work at this location when it was the original daily grind. A few of my girlfriends and I were here about a month ago and they were wonderful to us! They listened to us as we reminisced about working there. We made ourselves at home and they welcomed us with open arms! The food, coffee, and service is beyond amazing! Thank you to the owners for bringing this place to Martinsville and to the employees for your excellent service! Recommend this place 100%!

WOW!!! I am beyond delighted that my co-worker shared this GEM with me. The atmosphere is so amazing. It reminds you of a nice casual but chic bistro that would be located in a major metropolitan area.If the atmosphere was not enough, the food was beyond amazing. I had the 1/2 Grilled Chicken Salad, and 1/2 Tomato Basil soup. I do not mind paying for great quality. The Salad was so fresh you wouldve thought they had just hand picked the vegetables. I will certainly make this a popular lunch spot as long as I am employed in the Martinsville area.

Had an ice coffee and a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel. The coffee was great and the bagel was large and filing.They have a nice little bar on the wall that you can sit at. They also have a side room that has tables and chairs. The side room has several bookcases. There is also seating outside.

Extremely slow service, order was not cooked raw in middle. Acting manager came over and apologized, which was nice. When replacement order came, still raw in middle and fries cold. Acting manager acknowledged we were trying to get her attention but kept talking to 2 customers. Waitress finally came back to the table, showed her food was still raw. She was going to have food delivered since we were already late going back to work. As we walked to the door the acting manager said thank you have a good day. I responded yeah right to which she says that was rude. If I was rude sorry, we sat for almost an hour to get lunch which wasnt cooked not once but twice then called rude when leaving. WOW With that type of attitude the place is not going to fare well. Some people arent meant for management positions. It wasnt the acting managers fault the food wasnt cooked but she was told we were already going to be late getting back to work. She chose to be rude by not ensuring 2nd order was prepared correctly. Knowing there is an issue and not asking if 2nd order was cooked. Obviously there was an issue, I had no carryout box in hand as I was walking out the door . Maybe it would have been more understandable if they were busy but only 5 people total (3 tables). Maybe my comment was rude but when you go to purchase lunch and leave with nothing you tend to be upset from the experience. I have went to this business on multiple occasions, never experienced such a miserable time. I will not return and will no longer recommend this place.

This place serves great food and supports the artists. What is not to like? I would not have known about this place had someone not mentioned it. This is my new favorite restaurant in town.

For martinsville this spot offers a great scratch made menu. Similar to Panera, in that it offers decent sandwiches, pastries, salads, and soups. It has ample space on the second floor above Hugos Pub and Restaurant. The coffee is decent.

Food is AWESOME, highly recommended for a great lunch or dinner. We had the cuban and the turkey bacon with brie, both delicious. The service is great and the coffee of course was good. Definitely a good decision to stop here. If we get to Martinsville again, we will absolutely return.
