Alley Automotive were so nice and kind to me! We were on our way out of town and my vans windows started to freak out, I pressed one button just a little and another went down almost all the way (in the middles of Iowa winter!!). They were the closest near by so I stopped in and asked if they could come look if it was a quick something or if I had to get some work actually done. Turns out when the control panel has gotten wet from rain or snow sprinkle and made it stick and control the wrong thing. None the less they were polite, kind and professional to me. Thank you!!

We were traveling through town and had an issue with our vehicle that needed to be looked at. We called at 10 minutes to closing time and were still told they would be happy to look at our vehicle at no charge. They were able to quickly determine the cause and get us the information we needed to be able to get the rest of the way home safely. Extremely fast and friendly service!!!

Great honest working people. My go to shop for automotive needs, foriegn and domestic. I recently was told by a local dealership that I needed some work done. I ask Alley to verify what I was told and they did an inspection and told me things were not needing immediate attention. I will go back to Alley when the work needs performing. Awesome people. They worked on my daughters Honda Pilot and that vehicle is now much safer and road worthy. THANK YOU ALLEY!

The entire crew at Alley are such friendly and knowledgeable people. Here recently I had some work done on my explorer by a dealership in Ames (car was under warranty) who replaced parts but failed to finish the job entirely. Thanks to Alley for getting my black beauty back on the road 😊I have been bringing my vehicles her for many years now. Always going above and beyond to take care of me as a customer. Not to mention the kiddos love the bag of popcorn!

Incredible service! I am so beyond grateful I found this place. I had no luck with repair shops that are closer to where I currently live because no one knew about working on Kias (or other imports). Sadly, my car had been sitting for a couple weeks waiting for me to find the right place to tow it to. This place is incredibly efficient, friendly, knowledgeable, and best of all they made everything so EASY for me, answering my email, explaining things on the phone....even providing a loaner car. The work was completed VERY quickly and for a lot less than I was fearing it might be. My mind is still blown by that, since at other shops (when I lived out of state), there were times I have had to leave my car for a few days before I would even hear any news about what the problem was. If you are stressed out by that check engine light, (or worse!) this is definitely the place to go. They are kind, trustworthy and will take care of you. My only regret is that I did not find this place sooner, but that is my fault, not theirs! Thank you, Alley Automotive! This is definitely my shop from now on. :)

Great service! I brought my car in because I was having some issues with it retaining oil. Not only did they do a complimentary check, but they also took photos of what was wrong with my cars oil filter to show me afterwards. Im not very car-savvy, so this helped me a lot! Also received a fair price on all the work I had done. I will definitely be returning for other car work!

When I moved to Marshalltown, I was worried about finding a quality automotive shop for my vehicles. A gentleman from my new company recommended Alley Automotive very highly. I gave them a try and I have never looked back. They have been wonderful to work with. Never trying sell me something that I didnt need or even finding me used parts that work just as well and cost a lot less.Bob and the entire team at Alley Automotive have my highest recommendation. They overcharge and I blame them for fixing my Chrysler Sebring improperly, which led to a belt skipping a tooth and rendering the zero-tolerance motor useless. My family had repeated business with them for all our automotive needs, but eventually it became obvious they saw us only as deep pockets they could take money from. Im convinced they caused the motor of my car to break 2 weeks after they worked on it, thinking we would pay them to replace the motor (a minimum of $3,000). They didnt give us a receipt after working on it, saying they would send us a copy in the mail. They never did, so we had no proof of what work they did or didnt do and couldnt make a strong case against them without that receipt of sale. My family will never do business with them again.(Rose, at the front desk, was always wonderful and kind to us. She was trustworthy and honest. When she was in charge of our paperwork, she explained everything from the needed fixes to each expense. Then somehow, when she quoted us the prices, they were affordable; unlike when the guy--Richard, I think his name is--charged us. When she was gone or busy, the guy who worked up front was rude and condescending).

EDIT:I have a Mini Cooper and I took my car here because it wouldnt start after the serpentine belt broke while driving. Now I know how to work on my car but after messing with it for a while and not having any luck on it i decided to bring it here. I explained to them that my car will not start but it has a new battery, new alternator, and I took the starter to get tested and it passed. I spoke to a very friendly woman on the phone and told me they will check the charge and the starter which would be 20$ and after if they need to diagnose it more it will be 100$. So I agreed because it doesnt hurt to look at it twice. After a few hours I got a call back telling me that it was the starter. I initially thought that cant be right why would it fail here and not when I took it out so I asked and I was told I dont know thats what the tech told me so I was pretty upset but I wasnt going to argue about it. I got there and was charged 100$ for the diagnosis. Still not having a car that worked it didnt settle with me right that I was told the starter was the problem when I knew it wasnt.I then decided to take it to the dealer in Des Moines which I figured here they have to figure out what it is and if they tell me the starter again then I would replace it. After 3 days for it being at the dealer I was told it was NOT the start but a ground wire from the engine was pulled loose when the a belt broke and caused the CAS module to burn out which controls the immobilizer. Now this made sense on why it wasnt starting. So I told them to fix it and sure enough my car is now back to running.Im not upset at the people I talked over the phone with because they were very friendly but more at the tech who told me it was the starter with out looking more into it. In my eyes it seems like he checked the starter saw it wasnt working and said thats the cause of issue but then again I dont know what was going through his mind. I would have been more than happy to pay for services that helped me out but telling me something that I already knew wasnt the problem upset me. I hope this will be a learning experience.EDIT: I appreciate the accountability taken and the very friendly front end staff. Although I was upset to begin with this had definitely left a great impression on me. Not most mechanic will admit thier mistake let alone offer a refund but I really liked how you listen to your customers I will definitely be bringing my business back

Hi I was in Marshalltown for a meeting and my car broke down. I called Larrys towing for help and ask them where to get the car repaired. They told me to call Alley Automotive but they also call the owner and he came down and open up the shop and put the car inside. It was Saturday and they were not even open, I ask about a rental car and Bob said that they had a loaner I could use until my was fix. I can not tell you how much I appreciated what Bob did for me. I was only late for the meeting by 30 minute it was super. Thank you so much :) Bill McClimon Charlotte, Ia.

I bought an Audi A4 Quattro years ago with 33,000 miles and when I had my first issue with it I took it back to the Des Moines Audi Dealer as it was still under the factory warranty. Long story short the Audi dealer didnt care to fix the car they just wanted my money over and over and feed me a line of crap every time - thats not under warranty! I asked a few co-workers for a good local shop and they told me Alley was the place to go. Being its a German car that can scare off a lesser garage but when I walked in the door the first time I could see a Porsche 911 on a lift, I knew then I had the right place. The Audi has 168,000 miles now and still going strong, Alley cares for all of my vehicles now. Thanks Bob and the crew for doing business the old fashion way Listen to the customer, fix it right the first time for a fare price and no surprises. Hands down the best garage anywhere!

Not Recommend, you will and up paying for nothing, they dont even have the tools to make some repairs, and the worst is you will be charged for time spent for a incomplete diagnose, and will not fix your car, because they dont know whats wrong, and dont have tools, and you still have to pay not less then $100 better take ir to your manufacturer or end up like me paying for nothing.
