I do business through them for all my rental needs! Shawn will really work with you without a doubt! The customer service is always friendly! Highly recommend them to anyone!
First visit and never again. I specifically asked if the copper pipe could be purchased by the foot or if it was whole length only. Uh I dont know if we have copper pipe should have been my first clue, I asked for a 1 foot length and was charged ~$11, the price for a whole length. Great service and knowledge if you dont mind incompetence.
I rented a Roulette and Black Jack table and they are in horrible shape. Black duct tape as repairs and the felt is torn and not smooth. They seem very old and are very worn out. Also, I was not informed about the exactly 24 hour return time until I picked up. They even had 2 chances to tell me this when I had called them.
I have rented a large limb chipper and a 45 electric boom. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful to instruct me in the use of both pieces of equipment. Both worked very well; the boom was essentially new.I flattened a tire on the boom in a strange accident while dropping a limb. Waters worked with me to resolve the problem and fix the tire. I was very pleased with how well they treated me.
It was awesome. Very pleasant cashiers! Very friendly and helpful staff.
Good place to buy garden fertilizer and a ton of other things.. The staff is really nice and helpful. I have been shopping here for 30+ years. They also have the largest assortment of rental equipment available mon-sun. They also do small engine repair.
Waters True Value seems totally unaware of the pandemic. Not a single employee and very few customers had masks on, no sanitizing of surfaces, including the card reader pen, no social distancing awareness. Home Depot does a fabulous job and will get my future business. It’s sad because it used to be a great store with very knowledgeable employees.
Not great staff this day
We rented a carpet cleaner from here and it worked great! Geri helped us check out, she was quick, friendly and detailed if we were having issues with it. Definitely will be renting there again.
This is a good place to buy tools and equipment. Despite what the name says, this is not a good place to get hardware! Everywhere else Ive been charges per pound on hardware, here you have to record your own list and tell the clerk what each bolt costs. It was $3 for 4 small bolts and a couple of washers and nuts. At my hometown Orchelns, it would be maybe $.75 for those things. It doesnt sound like much, but if you work on things you will break some bolts, and it adds up if you work on things all the time.
My daughter & Son-In-Law rented a wooden arch/pergola, columns, & guest book stand for their wedding. I cant say enough about everyone we came in contact with. Everyone was so helpful. We were very pleased with all the items we rented. The items arrived on time & were perfect! I would highly recommend this place!
Decided to rent a truck and did my move (local move) on my own so I made a Penske reservation online with the JC location. It was not the best idea. They didn’t have the truck I reserved. This location (Manhattan) came through for me. The young lady at the front desk was very nice and the rental process was easy. Ended up paying less than what most movers were asking. The older man on the floor was very helpful as well.
I have rented a number of tools and large equipment from Waters over the past two years. Each time has been pleasant and efficient. I rented a very large wood chipper and was shown how to use it; it performed exactly as advertised; I was very happy. I rented an electric boom/basket to cut down a tree this past summer; again, I was shown how to use it and it performed very well. The staff and management have always treated me well with respect and courtesy.
If I could give this business an its employees 0 stars I would. The owner, Rusty, and the manager Mike were nothing but disrespectful. I had ordered a cotton candy machine for a sorority event and they did not give me all the parts to set it up. I called the next day and was given permission by a warehouse employee to keep it an extra day and return in 2 days after I picked it up. However, it still never worked. When I returned it I wanted to let them know about the missing parts even though I had already called a day prior. When Mike came up he accused me of lying and said it was my fault for not calling. He didnt know I had already talked to one of the employees the day before who gave me permission to keep it a day extra. He was hesitant to give me any money back (which is not what I wanted I just wanted better communication) and questioned my intelligence. I am a college student and have NEVER seen a business more poorly ran and managed than this one. When I emailed the owner Rusty about how Mike had treated me he called me and said well he gave you your money back so what else do you expect me to do. He did not care AT ALL how I was treated and even accused me of being demanding. He blamed me and told me to get over it, its a cotton candy machine. Save your money next time.
Just picked up mower blade that I left to be sharpened. All OK.
Ill let you know in a hour
As a fellow business owner in MHK, I understand where the other negative reviews are coming from on here... not a Manhattan company at heart
Waters Hardware is usually my first stop for all my hardware needs.A great, small town business.
Best hardware store in town. I try those box store every once in a while, mainly because Waters closes pretty early, but I usually end up having to wait til they open because the box stores just dont have the same variety of hardware as Waters
I needed a rototiller for a couple of hours, Menards doesnt have one so to keep from driving across town I stopped at Waters. The clerk was very nice but extremely busy, answering the phone and waiting on customers. After finally getting to the counter, the rental was quick and easy. I thought $40.00 was kind of steep for 3 hours, but I was there. The fellow that checked me out was nice. Fast forward 2.25 hours on the return. Different young man at the counter, cant check me in. Calls for help, after another long wait a very helpful guy shows up. I unload the tiller. He checks the fuel and asks me if I filled it up. I replied I did not, no one mentioned it to me ( I honestly thought fuel was part of the almost $15 an hour price.). He calls the lady upstairs on the radio. She said to deduct $5.00 from my deposit for it not being full. FIVE DOLLARS for what amounted to a quart of gas more or less? I just shook my head and paid it.This is a PERFECT example of why I only go to Waters as a last resort. The young man felt bad about charging me, and I didnt give him any gruff since the decision obviously wasnt his, but come on Waters... $5.00 for a quart of gas? Way to nickel and dime your customers! It will be a long time before I go back in. Ill just go to Home Depot or Griffiths if I cant find it at Menards.
Rented a spray texture machine from them to attempt to finish a large job. Machine worked fine for about 6 minutes then stopped working. Called and asked for assistance and they said to bring the machine back. We cleaned the machine out and returned it to the store. They refused to refund us our money and costed us an afternoon of labor plus the rental fee with a dismissive attitude. I would not recommend renting from this store due to their poor customer service.
In the past year I have gone through Waters True Value in Manhattan for all my events and grandkids birthday parties. They are amazing and extremely helpful, dependable, and professional. The men and women who work in the store are always helpful and incredibly nice. The workers that Waters sends out usually bust their butts to get the job done and make sure its done correctly. Though I would have to say that if you are planning an event and need tents or even just a bouce house, the best gentlemen I have met from Waters that I have met are Nate, Shadow, and Harden. These 3 men go above and beyond to make sure that all my questions are answered and that everything gets done safely and exactly the way I need them to be. I will definitely be renting from them again once the weather is nice again. Would highly recommend and have to all my friends and family and anyone who asks me about their store.
Rented a slice seeder and the process was quick and easy. The men helped me unload it out of my truck! Geri was the cashier and she was awesome and had a great attitude for so early in the morning!
Went there and they had 4 females behind one counter. They couldnt tell you the difference between a screw and a hammer. Most of the employees are useless and lack basic hardware knowledge. This store seems to prefer a pretty face over an employee who can sell me a 5/16 X 2 grade 8 bolt or a carriage bolt. Maybe I used too many numbers? Maybe consider hiring employees that know hardware to work the hardware store?
So, I called a week ago to rent a bouncy house for my daughters birthday party today. I got the Disney one with the obstacle course, bouncy house, and slide. They called me two days later saying there was A glitch and someone else booked it before me. So, I could have one half off. The original one I wanted was $183 for 24 hours. Anyways, I chose a regular Disney princess bouncy house instead. And half off was $100? Didnt make sense to me that half off the other one was less $100 and had more stuff, but whatever. They called and delivered it the morning and I asked the guy that delivered it if he could set it up for me because I never had one before. Gladly set it up and had it ready.. but later realized after he left he didnt stake it to the ground. About an hour into the party, my 4 year old daughter and her 3 year old cousin were in the bouncy house and the wind picked it up and blew it about 15 feet (only reason it stopped was because it hit my car). As it blew away, it also unplugged it and started deflating on the girls covering the entrance. I panicked and was able to get the girls out after a couple minutes. Luckily, the girls are okay, just shaken up. They guy came back to pick it up and said it wasnt mandatory for Waters to stake it down? Anyways, Waters, I HIGHLY recommend you make this mandatory before you get yourself into a lawsuit. Shadow, your deliverer, was ignorant and said just because it wasnt blowing hard when he set it up, that he didnt have to stake it unless it was blowing 25 mph. I dont even think it was blowing that hard when it blew that heavy bouncy house across my yard.
Great hardware store. Super helpful staff. Easy to get to by bicycle, but I would love if they had dedicated bike parking.
Staff is helpful when you find one. I was shopping for screws once I found them I looked literally 2 feet away and found the same exact screw for about half the price.
Went to True Value to get a water heater, they did not carry any. So the spent a about half an hour on the phone calling different stores to find the one I needed. They were extremely helpful and went above and beyond for me. Will be coming back.
Id like first say Im only giving this store five stars due to the second person that served me. If it wasnt for her I would have to give one star. Management should take a look at a girl named Emily, she had a horrible attitude and was not willing to help me what so ever. Id like to thank the second employee that helped me and went well beyond what could of been asked, I didnt get your name but thank you. Again management should take a look at this Emily girl and her terrible customer service and attitude.
Last two rentals were a disappointment, Boom lift quit working in the middle of a painting job and asked for a discount and was denied. Rented a dingo and only wanted the three hour rental and was denied because I picked it up the end of the business day. Prices are high. I will no longer be doing business with waters rental or waters true value. Just my opinion.
Waters Rental has anything and everything that you would ever need from weddings to grass seeders. The staff is always extremely helpful and helps with not only the task that I am doing but they help me complete the whole project. I will never go anywhere else for any of my rental needs.
The week before my wedding, I tried calling 5 times (I dont live in Manhattan anymore) and eventually had to drive into town to get a response. The day of my wedding, we received filthily plates and glasses. They were not just a little water-stained and overused. They were so dirty we had to put 150 plates, goblets and champagne glasses through a dishwasher. They were completely unusable.Check your orders meticulously, because it seems like somewhere in the process they didnt consider us needing spoons instead of two sets of forks. And even though we described the arch set up to person after person after person, they sent everything but what we wanted.I hate to have to judge them based off of one instance, but this was a very important event for my husband and I. Because of this, I would never go back to this company. Ever.
Always helpful; usually has what the handy man needs.
Rented a tile saw. blade seemed dull and flimsy, bed wasnt the correct one to fit the saw, and the bed slid wobbly. Come to find out there were parts missing off the bed. Told the yard guy it was a very old saw that shouldnt be rented out anymore. He just agreed. Will use United next time.
I came in with a piece of paper with 23 1/2, 10 7/8 written on it. I asked for window glass and I handed the guy the piece of paper. I brought the glass home and held it up to the window frame and it was short. Apparently the guy didnt notice the 7/8 next to 10 because the glass was 7/8 inches short. Im not sure how I could possibly be more dissatisfied. The hours listed online would suggest that they are still open, but try as I might, I cannot get an answer.
They are always super helpful and have what we are looking for.
Im visiting and decided to do some work on my families deck. Oh boy, this city gal started a project and created quite the mess. The staff was not only helpful while I was at the store but took my calls as problems (I thought) arose. The deck came out beautiful and it was because of Waters True Value in Manhattan, KS. Thank You All So Very Much!
Very helpful, even directed me to another Hardware store for what wasnt at Waters.
Always a pleasure to shop st Waters.
I had my riding mower blades sharpened and they where fast on turn around of my blades.
Excellent store. Excellent customer service!
They probably have whatever you are looking for. Wether or not it is clean and works is another question. Just be sure to fully inspect what you are renting before you take it, and talk with staff about what to do if there are problems and they are pretty easy to work with.
Had to pick up a rental truck today. They couldnt even air up the tires for us? So here we are on moving day, airing up truck tires. Claim they cant air up on site but how do we maintain the truck. Ill go UHAUL next time
Quick and easy rental
Well before returning something, make sure you have a copy of your contract (rental) made 2 unnecessary trips till i could return an item. Other than that👎one thumb down. Left hand has no idea what the right is doing. Well they were friendly.
Good place to rent equipment and find hardware
Great hardware store with even more stuff
I always feel at a loss as a female in a hardware store, but every time I have been here, they have been helpful, polite & solved my problem.
Very friendly and helpful.
Waited for help, 2 employees sawMe and turned and walked the opposite direction. As I was leaving the manager asked - I told him. No “sorry about that” or “can I help”. Won’t ever go back.
Horrible, I asked for five minutes to get a piece of rental equipment back that is defective and they won’t even wait for five minutes when it’s their fault to start with.
Staff does not know anything about their equipment, equipment is heavily used, and the customer service is awful. Rented a trailer to me with a flat tire, then told me I had to pay for it. They said I signed off on an inspection which I did not, a receipt they have you sign BEFORE they show you the equipment! I refused to pay for tire, and I will never go back.
I do not review stores, normally, but this place earned it. Is there a zero star rating? I have lived in Manhattan for 12 years and have used waters a few times and have ALWAYS regretted shopping there. Renting a Penske truck, random hardware purchases, etc. staff was less than helpful. Wouldn’t/couldn’t exchange an unopened item bought 2 days ago. I will not return, ever.
The place is expanded their attentive employees
