Chris offered to help me out with quick little welding project. He got it done the same day and did a great job. I didnt get a chance to go into the facility, but it looks awesome from the outside. A nice little hidden gem in Madison.
The owner, Chris, has managed the shop into a mess where he is spread way too thin and regularly turns people away because he has no time. He doesnt want to help people and is completely unapologetic about it. You have to be in his inner circle of friends to use 90% of the shop. And it doesnt help that hes generally unpleasant to talk to. Ask a simple question and hell spend 10 minutes saying no.
I am retired CAD person and a member there. Love it. 10 seats of SolidWorks! Also Chris is an amazing engineer! He can do about anything you can dream of! Very friendly people too. Thats important to me!
I met a few people including Chris whom I believe was the owner. He was extremely nice and showed me around. Im aiming to go to a meeting and learn more about what I can learn and create there. It definitely looked like a fun place to hang out for people of all different ages. Check it out if youre in the area!
I love Sector67!! Best place to be in Madison! Tours are offered on Fridays but email ahead and you can probably get in. Become a member they the best!!
I went to my first meeting and everyone was very friendly. Quite a few were folks from the neighborhood, and some were students, others were just professionals who havent had the opportunity to make things with their hands in a while. This space works for them now and Chris is building this place out to be a great shop. I am looking forward to watching this place grow. Its about time Madison had a Hackerspace!
Excellent professional, workspace and tools for develop your projects
Not good. What does a community garden have to do with which what i wouldve thought a science type agenda??? My. Project has absolutely no place in this arena. Dissatisfied and total waste of my time!!. Ive been bugging this place on and off for years. Thinking and hoping for some electronic help. Niether Chris or anyone else has a clue about electonics or anything related to. I ended up hiring a UW electronics graduate.
Ive never been to a hacker space before. This is one of favorite places on earth. They have every amazing toy you can imagine. I learned how to do some basic electronics. The laser cutter and CNC loom were very cool.
Sector has every tool you can imagine, and people who know how to use them all. Go in with a project in mind and start talking to people.
I had never been to a makerspace before — Im not what youd call a tools guy, but my son needed to get his pinewood derby car cut, and the people at Sector67 were amazing.I called them up and set up a time to meet. Chris helped us out and went beyond the call of duty. Instead of just helping us and getting us out quick, or setting up a station for us, he showed us how three separate saws worked, opening them up for my son and I to see. We both learned a lot!I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to check out a makerspace or who has a project that may require more tools than they have at their disposal. Thanks to everyone at Sector67 for being so accommodating!
Im a member there, its fantastic. Chris runs the place and hes amazing, can help you with almost any project you could ever dream up. Take classes on how to weld, microcontrollers, use heavy equipment like CNC mills, welding, create and print 3D models on the 3D printer, on and on. Theres tons of parts to use for projects, tools of all kinds, plus unique things that come through the shop that people drop off, or Chris scavenges from somewhere. You can also just hang out, relax and listen to the tunes, do some programming, or see what others are working on. One of the Sectors missions is a business incubator, theres great people networking there, professional people of all kinds are members, often youll hear of jobs there you wont find anywhere else.
Its like disneyland if you are a tinkerer. Awesome tools/facilities for members, and great public classes. Worth checking out if you live in madison!
Great place to innovate and meet the coolest people in Madison! Great events here also!
Most complaints I hear is no one is around to help and when there is its a Ill scratch your back if you scratch mine deal. Chris decided to remove most of the old members when sector moved so the old charm of sector is gone. The Bodgery is right down the road however at the old oscar meyer building. Come on over and lets build something awesome and goofy.
Great place to hang out and work on projects
Pretty cool spot
There arent enough superlatives to describe the community here!
Ok
