An absolutely fantastic establishment. Friendly bartenders, delicious drinks and a great atmosphere. The outdoor patio in the summer is a real treat and a perfect place for great conversations.In February of 2018, I went on a first date here and a week ago, we brought our wedding party here to stop for photos and a drink before our reception. Cannot recommend this bar enough.

A neat spot with hidto u that you can literally smell. Its a musty Old School smell like going to grandpas. Great craft draft beer selection. Nice cocktails. Friendly bartender. Reasonable prices. Parking can be challenging as its only on street, and theres limited spots available.

Went here for the first time on Saturday night. Drinks are affordable, and the decor is super cute, BUT the bartender is not friendly, nor is the restroom clean. He’s very friendly toward white folks tho, as he is a white man with some basic clothes-shorts, t-shirt, hat, and beard-and less than inviting attitude to BIPOC. This place would be fantastic if the bartender were more welcoming to BIPOC locals, but, from my observation of more than three different white customers, he’s very preferential to white people. They may be regulars, but he was just very cold and short to me on two separate occasions. It doesn’t seem like he was trying to grow the bar’s clientele or providing good service either way. The men’s bathroom also is problematic. It smells of urine, and the low vent is blackened by what may be mold. I was trying to hold my breath. The bar has potential…

Great spot to just hang out for a solo craft beer or gather with a small group. Mason Lounge used to be my hangout when i lived in Madison a few years back. I try to visit every time im back in the area. Definitely worth a stop for a no fuss pint of beer with good folks.

Stopped here on a whim after looking at Google reviews, awesome atmosphere and customer service even during COVID. Very good craft beers on tap and canned drinks to go. Will stop again for sure!!

Olivia the bartender rocks. So hard. By far the nicest bartender EVER. Great conversationalist when shes not busily slinging drinks. Always willing to answer a question or help you out. Unpretentious. Mason is a dive bar by choice, not necessity. Its a great, dank, woody, comfortable, intimate joint to have a few drinks with friends and talk about the Cosmos. And they serve cosmos too. As well as a vast and rotating selection of craft beers on tap, and wine, and whiskey, and whatnot. In good weather, the enclosed beer garden, albeit small, is a great place to hang. Be sure to catch the weekly jazz night on Tuesdays from 9 pm to midnight. Free admission. Take an Uber or have a DD though, because youll want to sample all the varieties of beer and booze.

Love this place! Chill, community bar quiet enough to carry on a conversation without raising your voice. Fair prices and high quality beers and drinks. I love the atmosphere too! Feels like Im relaxing in a friends living room.

The Mason Lounge is one of my favorite spots in Madison. It just has a very unique atmosphere unlike any other bar in town. I love their tap list. It has a ton of unique beers you dont often see on tap, but they tend to stay away from the super expensive big barrel aged beers that tend to be 10 or more bucks a pop. I appreciate that given plenty of bars in Madison already offer those beers. Mason also has a weekly live jazz night on Tuesdays as well as a couple other music acts every month. Those nights can be a little crowded, but Id highly recommend checking it out.

A lovely little hole in the wall bar. This is a great, cozy neighborhood bar to grab a beer and hang out in. The decoration is quirky and cute with all kinds of strange collectibles around and the beers are good and cheap. Lots of very affordable local/craft options.

This is one of Madison’s hidden gems. I’ve been coming here for years and I should have written a review ages ago but this is a fanatic bar. Staff are amazing, fantastic selection of beers and spirits, something for everyone. I only wish they were open on a Monday and Sunday because I would go, but everyone needs a day off now and again so can’t fault them.

The Mason is a special spot, even in a city with many good bars. Its small enough that its intimate--great for dates and small group meet ups--but spacious enough that its basically never crowded. Add to that a great selection of reasonably priced drinks, pizza next door, and free live jazz on Tuesdays, and you have one of the best, albeit understated, bars in Madison. If you want to drink while putting some comfortable distance between yourself and the maddening crowd, the Mason is the place to go.

One of the coolest taverns in Madison. It is a tiny place but worth visiting. Great selection of beer and liquor. Its tuck away on Park Street and I missed it many times until a friend of mine told me about the place.

Great Beer Menu, and I do mean menu with 19 on tap. Selection of craft distilled spirits is a perfect compliment to what would otherwise be considered a beer lovers pub. Ive been there multiple times now and the Owner and Bartenders are very friendly and personable. If you want an environment where you can talk with friends, coworkers or even strangers (and hear yourself do so) over a beer or a craft distilled pour, this is the best place in Madison to do so!

Their beer selections are tops, but be warned... Only a half barrel or two is purchased at a time, so taps are always changing. Awesome hipster staff... kinda bad jazz. No kitchen, so no bar food, but an amazing place to go, if you can find a seat.

Very comfortable place, not overly-crowded but not pretentious because of it, either. Drink prices were pretty good too, especially for mixed drinks. Definitely worth stopping at if youre with a friend or a smaller group.

This is by far my favorite bar in madison. The place has a nice atmosphere that is welcoming and the bartenders and owner match that with amazing service. I know every bartender by name now and they have always been kind and helpful with deciding what to get a glass of and giving samples. The bar also has an open policy on bringing in your own food they especially support Falbo brothers pizza who have dedicated a pizza to the bar. The major loud crowds leave by 7 so there are no worries about loud or obnoxious frat/sorority types any time.

Look, this is what you do - order a pizza pie ahead of time from falbos two doors down - if you havent eaten a pizza from falbos youre a loser that doesnt know good local pizza. Eat the pizza with family, friends, strangers or alone amidst awesome selection of beer in the awesome bar that is the mason, problem solved. Dont ever say I didnt teach you anything
