If you want the personal, hometown, treat you like family experience, then Ace Hardware in Madison is where you go. They have a great selection, and the customer service is ten times better than you would receive at a larger Hardware superstore. There is always someone willing to and able to help you find what you need, and, the best part, you do not have to search for help, the employees are searching for you to give help.

I had a very attentive experience with the store. I purchased over a thousand dollars worth of equipment. I would have given a five star review but I asked them to at least fill up the equipment with fluids since I was making a very large purchase and they ignored me. Sometimes when in business we have to give something back to show the customer we care. In which a little bit can mean a lot.

Excellent hardware store. It always seems to be staffed and run by teenagers, but you can usually find what you need. Prices may be slightly higher than Lowe’s but it’s conveniently located near our house.

Prices are a bit high compared to Walmart! Same product, but higher price. See something you like in Ace, might require you to check Walmart too! It might be a lot cheaper!!!

Nice little store. I went there to get extra keys for my boss. Unfortunately I am disappointed in the copies of keys that they made...They are not cut correctly and hard to use and get stuck and so on. I wish they worked....

I have bought things from this store for 5 to 6 years. The staff has always been friendly UNTIL the afternoon of 7/23/16. We purchase cracked corn regularly for my wife who feeds wild ducks at our home. We also purchase all of our air filters regularly and other various items on occasion.My wife asked me to get some cracked corn. I looked online for their hours but did not see them so I called and asked what time did they close. I was told 4:00. It was 3:51pm and I live about 3 miles from their business. I jumped to my truck and called back at 3:52 and told them I was on the way to get a cracked corn. I arrived at 3:58pm ( I know the exact times because I used my cellphone and the calls are logged). When I arrived I noticed the store was dark but got out yo check the door anyway. The door as unlocked and as I opened the door I was met by 3 employees. 2 young men (late teens or very early twenties) and an older than me gentleman. I smiled and said I was here to get the corn I called about. The two younger ones said we are closed. My first response was nice as I said I called someone and said I was on my way. At that point the second young man, a blond headed young man decided to tell me that not only were they closed but all cash registers empty money in the safe on a timer and they could not help me. The older gentleman never said one word. After my second attempt at being nice I was no longer nice are said but I called someone on the phone and told you I was coming it was repeated to me that they were closed. I would have offered to have left the full amount of money $20 that I had on me for a $9.99 nontaxable purchase and pick up my change on Monday. Or they could have taken my credit card number. No effort was made whatsoever to try to accommodate my purchase.At this point I became very angry having never been turned away from a business without some offer to attempt to sell me what I am looking for.. I have worked retail for better than 20 years of my working career including a number of years for a major chain retail Company that does have timers and closes, but I have always made arrangements to take care of my customer.UPDATE: :Spoke to the manager who told me that they dont make it a habit of waiting for customers because in the past it had turned into 20 or 30 minutes. WOW. It tells me what my business means. And I was not late. It wasnt 4pm yet.

Response to the person claiming to have been polite about the corn;Actually, it was after 4:00 by the recordings that were reviewed. Your first words when exiting your vehicle were profanity. Yes, the cash and other items were locked in a safe. You also threatened to assault an employee there. And no, policy is to not wait when someone calls because that has resulted in waiting around 30+ minutes for people before and they never show up. You also raised your voice at me on the phone before I even had a moment to speak as you wouldnt stop your angry tirade with me on the phone. And when you finally stopped speaking I said that I had reviewed the incident and that you had threatened an employee. At this point you got more angry and proceeded to yell at me through the phone and threaten me. Thats why you are no longer welcome at that store. Threaten a minor with Im going to kick your *** after a vulgarity laden anger fueled tirade usually results in being barred from visiting a business again.

Place looks like its seen better days, but the staff is friendly, and theyve got a surprisingly decent inventory.
