Since this and Power 9 have the same address I will review it as well. Went on a Saturday within the hours it should have been open. There was a sign on the door that said be back later. Stopped back later and the store still wasnt open.

We stopped in here after just barely spotting it as we walked past. Really cool store. An impressively massive selection of quality tabletop games, along with an opened copy of most of them and tables to try them out. If I lived in Madison Id absolutely visit regularly.

What an amazing game store. Dan Bock really nails it here, he has amazing staff, and a great assortment of games. If you are into Magic the Gathering its a great place to go. NetherWorld games has access to one of the largest magic collections in the world. They have almost everything, literally everything

Wonderful new store location on State Street. Theyve got tons of games, great staff, clear arrangements, and lots of game events. You can come here and play some of the games in the basement.

Love this game store! Staff is great with my kids (6&8). My son is 8 and is into Pokémon, Magic, Killer Bunnies, and Dice Masters. My daughter sometimes likes to spend her allowance on pretty dice. The staff is very helpful and they take longer than adults to make choices. They have a bin for people who get Magic Cards they dont want to put them in, and my son loves picking through it. They have lots of game playing tables and frequently have people playing Magic or other games. They have dice masters tournaments every other week. Prices are reasonable. I frequently hear them taking extra time with young kids to explain how to get a better deck together, etc.

Recently moved to Madison, but this has become my new local game store to visit! Ive done 2 prereleases for MTG there now and all of them were a lot of fun. Their board game collection is not something to scoff at either.

Michael Campbell is mistaken. Netherworld offers ample space for gaming, allowing you to bring in your own board games to play with friends, or use one of the in-store versions that are available to play. While sorting has been a part of the storefront in years past, now it is gone, replaced by friendlier and more articulate employees; handsomer, too.Feel free to check it out sometime if you dont believe my word for it.

The people and staff there are HARDCORE gamers. If you want to win and improve your gaming decks look no further because youve come to the right place. I went in expecting to purchase a couple of singles for MTG and came out with all different items and accessories for an AWESOME deal. This is the cheapest game shop for all MTG singles in all expansions, older and newer, they have them all. Ive been to all other game shops in surrounding Madison area and hands down they are the BEST! THANK YOU NETHERWORLD................

Large and extensive game selection but the atmosphere is creepy. The store consists of 3 walls of games and a center floor just with folding tables for game play. The store was mostly empty when I went in with the exception of a cashier and a foursome playing Magic the Gathering.

The Staff may not greet you at the door and make make sure you need help, but hey, some people dont want to be bothered all the time. Ive always gotten help when needed and have gotten pretty good deals there. They also have just about every magic card you can think of. Yes even a black lotus.

Id recently been interested in reacclimating myself to the game of Magic. Was in from out-of-town and happened upon this spot. Everyone is down to earth, friendly and willing to offer their insight and experiences. A guy with red hair, think his name was Anthony, spent 15 minutes getting me up to speed on updates to the game structure and card distribution (boosters, blocks, sets, etc...) since my days playing Tempest/ Stronghold/Exodus sets. Wish I lived locally as they invited me to events and offered to give me pointers. Cool guys, cool spot, go there and join the fun. Also, props to the employee wearing the red Colossus shirt.

If you expect to go into netherworld games and find friendly, knowledgeable staff, a broad variety of games and a welcome, inviting atmosphere, you are going to be sorely disappointed. If you go in expecting folding tables that look like they were purchased on special at Wal-Mart, a staff (I use that term VERY loosely) who cant be bothered to look up from their endless sorting of magic cards to acknowledge your existence, and a collection of stale board games that were hot three years ago, youve come to the right place. How this armpit of a store manages to stay in business is a mystery to me...

The reviewer from October 3, 2010 must be mistaken, as NetherWorld Games has never sold any games in socks. Perhaps he dialed the wrong number. Phone numbers are difficult these days with their seven digits and all. Regardless of that, it is a wonderful little store with excellent service, friendly employees, and a great selection of board games, card games, strategy games, supplies, and especially Magic: the Gathering singles.

First off, this stores zero percent accessible if you need any sort of wheels for mobility. Wheelchair, scooter, stroller, whatever: you wont get through the door unless you have someone along with you to open it, because the staff is not going to help you.You also wont really fit through the aisles even on two legs, to the extent that any aisles exist. The entire floor is dominated by the cheap tables that others have noted, and they are permanently in use for Magic the Gathering (or similar). With people seated at those tables, theres no room to move. The staff were always involved in games each time I was there, and they never greeted me, helped me, or even moved towards the counter unless I was already standing there myself (and even then, it always took them a bit). They always gave me the feeling that I had walked in on a party I wasnt invited to, rather than a business where my moneys as green as anyone elses. I got this unwelcome treatment when stopping in with my husband, and it was even worse showing up as a woman alone. All that aside: my family pre-ordered a board game here almost six months ago. They took my name and contact info, and I never heard from them again. The games US release was pushed back a bit, which is not the stores fault, but they never gave me any status updates at all.I went back three times (!!) to check on the status of the order. Each time, the staff looked at me like I was crazy and asked me to repeat the games name several times because theyd never heard of it. Its from a well-known studio and was up for a major industry prize, so I just have to assume that the staff isnt really up on (Euro/German-style) board games at all, and this is purely a Magic-oriented shop.Even if none of the other bad-vibes-inducing stuff had happened, they still NEVER got the game I ordered. I had to check Board Game Geek myself to figure out that the US release had already happened a month ago.The final straw was during my fourth visit, when the staff member apologized to his Magic opponent for delaying their game an entire thirty seconds to check on the status of my order, but said nothing to me other than an annoyed its fine when I then apologized for interrupting. (I shouldnt have had to apologize in the first place for you having to do your job, buddy.)I dont know if they actively dont want my business because I dont fit their demographic, or if they truly do not care about anything other than the local Magic scene. Either way, we wont be back even if that game finally shows up.Back to Amazon. So much for trying to support a small local business.

Ive been here four times in the last few years, always thinking maybe its just a bad day / bad employee but no. This place epitomizes every stereotype of gamers. The employees wont bother to stop sorting Magic cards long enough to even get up and address me - a customer - standing there. It doesnt matter if you carry what I want or not, dismissing me as an inconvenience because Im not your hardcore gamer buddy is rude. I dont know, what we got is over there with a vague gesture is not customer service. NO NOT GO HERE.

My interactions with this store have been horrible. Twice now, the stores eBay operator has failed to complete an order with me. Most recently I bought 6 Runed Halos for my sons and my decks. The next day they were marked as shipped, and then a week later I get a refund saying they were out of stock. I called and one of the managers at the store promised to get back to me, which he never did. Their customer service to me was poor and unprofessional.

I came in to sell some Magic Cards because I was low on money and needed the cash. I regret selling my entire collection, I had lots of valuable cards (ultra rares, plains walkers, batterskulls, etc) of over 40$ value that they gave me 4$ or 5$ for I believe, anything 25$ or less I think they gave me 2$ for, and so forth. I got probably 150$ for several thousand dollars worth of cards, but I was only expecting around 250/300 realistically, knowing how these places are. The guy and girl working there were pretty helpful, except the girl messed up the values on some and I kinda just had to trust that the guy was being honest as they racked up my cards worths. Now that I have money again I would go back there to purchase gaming stuff. Ive been thinking about getting into War Hammer which ive dabbled in, and ill see if they have any events for that there. Maybe ill get back into Magic at some point, its just sad to have to start over again. Anyways this is way too personal but the store was satisfactory...
