Today (September 16th) I went here thinking it was still open. I was greeted with a sign on the door saying this location is permanently closed. Yet I proceed to walk through the doors. A nice woman comes out and says the store is closed and has been closed to the public since September 6th. She said there are still a few fixtures left for purchase though. She shows me around and the store is almost completely empty. There were still a couple people I saw there clearing the shelves and other fixtures out in the back area. The store was pretty much bare. After I left it reminded me how great this store was and how sad it is to see this close. Even though it never seemed to have customers in it. This area (especially with Boston store right next to it abandoned too) is so bare and trashy/sad looking. It sucks this was the last full service sears in Wisconsin. Closest one as of now is in Chicago.
Well mostly all its products were washed out for Christmas but I managed to find a beautiful fleece blanket that had a couple of wolves in it and its really soft. Like....really....soft.. After I purchased it I wore it on my legs and almost fell asleep. Its like good. Theres also a variety of tools and other things a couple of my friends were interested in. As well as appliances and so assortment of clothing
We decided to randomly go into Sears and Im sooooo glad we did!! They were having MAJOR sales for the holiday season and I saved so much money shopping for my kids!! They have a really nice section of shoes for each boys and girls and I ended up getting 2 pairs of shoes for each kid for only $50!! I highly recommend going in and looking around at everything...you will end up buying something and saving quite a bit!
Great prices for a liquidation sale. RIP Sears. Ill always remember the Christmas catalog.
From how open the layout of this Sears location has been getting over the last few months.. Im starting to wonder if this location is starting to get ready to prepare for a going out of business sale. With all the marketed down ltems in a large area of the store, Along with lots of empty shelfs and displays. . It keeps me wondering.. Is this the next Sears location closing soon??
Very helpful staff. They go the extra mile to be helpful. Many items are less than the sticker price on the floor. Not too many Sears around anymore. Good to know this one will be here for some time!
Last day is Sunday good deals closing.
Store closing. Sale prices were fair . Staff didnt seem very knowledgeable.
Every time we have visited this location its been fairly empty of product and very, very messy. Staff are few and far between. Such a disappointment for such an iconic department store chain.
Went to the optical department to order glasses, optician was very knowledgeable for frames and lens. Very nice to find this high standard of workmanship. Will go back and refer others. Dr.s are excellent there also.
Good quality products but the service for things like Craftsman lawnmowers is pretty lame now. They virtually have no replacement parts at the stores and I have found the sales people to be unhelpful. It didnt take me long to realize that I knew more about their lawnmowers than he did.
Great products... sorry to see store closing.
This is the last Sears store open in the state of Wisconsin.I only was in the tool section not the rest of the store but they had lots of sales on Craftsman tools and they where say that more stock was starting to come in. The guy at the desk said over half their employees quite because they thought they where going under. Though I dont think they will be open forever I would bet they last another year or two.
Second time highly disappointed with Sears and their policies..... I had items valuing in 30 bucks that I wanted to exchange. One was broken and I never even used it the second was the wrong size. No receipt and or past 30 days they dont care. The manger herself started to argue and talk over me as I was asking questions and the teenage staff was laughing. Im fairly disappointed and will be taking my business elsewhere going forward.
Iooks like a second hand store in clothes. Appliances are good. Lack of help.
I find the items a bit over priced for the quality. Good ladies tops are available. Jewelry section is good too.
Had problem with my cell phone i bought from them. They no longer have the phone but this manager took my phone number and called me back the next day. He found a number for me to call because i paid for a protection policy on it.... Nice guy by going out of his way to get me a number...
Worst service ever! Every time I call customer service it takes 45 min then they transfer me to another department and I sit on hold for 30min. After an hour and a half of nothing I got hung up on. I will never buy from Sears again.
I went to exchange a set of jeans for the next bigger size and they wouldnt do it because the purchase was over 30 days. I just wanted to exchange. Terrible service!
I want Sears to be better but its eerie every time Im in there. I feel like the only shopper in the store and theres just a whole bunch of sales people milling about.
Great place to get eye glasses or even sun glasses. They are so sweet and absolutely wonderful to work with.
An item I was going to purchase rang up at the original price. I told the cleark I only wanted them if they were the $6.50 as advertised on the sign. She set them aside and rang up my other items..... Was disappointed she didnt investigate why they rang up incorrectly. Will not be back, this is why I enjoy online shopping!!
I found really great deals here when shopping. They have a great 70% off sale right now. I found some brown bootie that I will be wearing next winter for sure. The only thing is you could only check out in the tool department. Thankfully there was no line and I got in and out rather quick. I didnt see any sales associates ask if I needed help. It seemed as though all of them were bisy stocking or straightening of the stores appearance.
Always loved Sears, but come on,2 people working on a Saturdaynot cool
The Sears bankruptcy issues are very evident at the store. there are sections of the store that are empty, there are areas of the store that should have product that are either messy or disorganized. The store is not clean. On the other hand, if you need children shoes they have them! Sears should be able to make a comeback But the help and the people they have there do not seem up to the challenge. Chose to head to Target immediately afterwards so that I didnt have to deal with their customer service any longer
After working for this company for 3 years, they can go f$%& themselvesIm happy to see this company fail for all the things theyve done to their customers.End of story
The cashiers are incredibly pushy about the rewards card. They made it sound like it was mandatory to check out and kept trying to force my mom and me to sign up. They would not take no for an answer. The cashiers supervisor (Missy, shes very rude and pushy) tried to get me to give my phone number by saying you look like youre in our system, let me check for you! I get that its the end of the month and they have a quota, but I should not have to say no more than twice. Even saying Im not interested did not get her to give up. It took another 3 minutes to convince her that we didnt want their credit card. Dont go here unless you have an extra 10 minutes to argue with Missy. I spent longer checking out than looking for the things I needed. Never going back.
Horrible customer service from the so called manager. No wonder theres only one location in Madison. The service manager couldnt answer any questions and refused to look anything up on a computer or ask for help. Plus it was 15mins before anyone could find him. Do not go to Sears or order online. All of it is awful!
Bought appliances there. Had one great experience and one a little messed up. Over all, happy.
Typical Sear. Empty, outdated and depressing. If you are thinking of going to Sears go now as this store will likely be closed in the next few years. Staff is scarce but willing to help.
Awesome store where you can find a great collection of clothes, household items and elecric devices
They were supposed to come to our house to hookup the washer and dryer that we spent a lot of money on and nobody ever showed up. No call. Nothing. Returning the washer and dryer and buying from somewhere else. Never shopping at Sears again.
Talked to Hillary on the phone. Not sure about what location, but called the local number. She was very rude, uncaring and unapologetic when I was trying to explain what was going on. She said she didnt know the person that I talked to and wanted to keep interrupting me. Very rude!
Was a great place...like so many are going by the wayside....cause of the internet ☹️
Not much to look at, employees just looked at me a few times, never said a word! No wonder they are going out of business!
In the end we got what we went for, staff could be much more helpful
Customer service is horrible.Took almost 45min to do a return.Understaffed and the staff they do have is way under trained definitely lost me as a customer
Love the price of everything its like they pay u to shop there, I know right! Go see what Im talking about! Lol
Place was empty, sales associate Rob was very sweet and helpful. He had 3 people to wait on before he could help me. Feel sad that Sears is a dying breed.
Lotta nice stuff& still have Craftsman tools!
Best place to park because no one goes into Sears LOL Jesus truth!
Never buy from sears. Their customer service is awful. If you like being on hold for 45 minute periods of time and being told that they can’t help you then this is the store for you.
It was nice but they were low on inventory and I couldnt get some of the things I was looking for.
Great Dan was a big help! Better deal than Best Buy.
A glowing example of what an Ayn Rand disciple like Eddie Lampert can do with a formerly successful retail chain. Next the USA!!!
This is happening as i write this review i called sears to our tractor lawn mower rrepaired on july 11th 2019 at 9:30am i was advised the computer was down and to call back in 2 hours at 12 30pm i called back and a appt was set up today july 18th between 8am and noon...NO ONE SHOWED UP!! I took off work for this appt!! Now i keep calling ALL there numbers to make a complaint and have been HUNG UP ON 3 TIMES and NO HUMAN BEING will transfer me to the complaints dept..so i have no choice but to put this review up!!! I was/am being treated very VERY POORLY with no customer satisfaction if i could put ZERO STAR I WOULD!! Im still on hold and it 2 25pm! Oh well i took off WORK so i have nothing BETTER TOO DO MY COMPLAINT WILL BE HEARD TODAY!
Great Service. Dont give up on them.
Went in to pay on my bill. They guy at the counter picks up the phone/intercom as says. Code 3 at hardware. And takes off. I assume he needed to use the bathroom. I stood there 5-8 minutes before another person came out to help me.
Worst customer service Ive ever had. And I rarely ever give anything less then a 3. Besides the fact that the quality of the clothes are garbage, the return policy and managers are preposterous. Never again. Bye big box nightmares.
This place has a creepy vibe, there often seems to be more employees than customers in the store at any given time, but everything is on sale!
Excellent help replacing dehumidifier. Quality Kenmore and sales associate very helpful.
I had a pretty below average on my last couple visits to Sears. First, the cashiers told me I needed to have a rewards account to check out, so of course I did it. But then, every other time I checked out they kept asking me if I wanted to add my home address, or my birthday. I thought the pestering would end there! They also asked me twice during one checkout if I wanted to sign up for their MasterCard, because its so easy and I only need to see an ID. I thought it was ridiculous how many times they kept asking me to sign up for these programs, pressing me multiple times even after I said no. In addition, it took me forever to even find a place to check out! I often would find staff standing and talking, while both customer service centers had all 4 registers shut down. I saw other people wandering aimlessly as well, looking for an open register or even a staff member to ask. Also, many of the tags on the sale products did not list the actual price of the merchandise. While this ended up working in my favor in this particular scenario (I got my items cheaper than I expected), Im sure that there are other tags that underestimate the real price as well. I also have had problems with buying items on Sears website. Over the holidays I was buying sale items that said they were in stock, but when you add them to the cart, you wouldnt be able to purchase your items. I was so confused, so I called Customer Service, and to paraphrase what they said, they basically said that sometimes items arent actually available when they say they are because the website cant keep up with the sales, and when that happens you cant purchase your items in the cart. He said I basically had to take things in and out of the cart to figure out which one is out of stock, then purchase all the others. Well, it was really inefficient but it ended up working. Overall, what I have to say about Sears is that the service is terrible in every way possible, but I give them 2 stars because I do really like their merchandise.
Decent service but nothing to brag about. But I did get a great deal because I purchased online and picked up in the store.
Pleasantly surprised by the sale that was going on. Short staffed and shelves are a bit short on materials
Found almost everything I was looking for, the sales representative was very helpful
Great prices on clothes and appliances. Great optical department:. Glad they kept this location open.
CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS LIMITED, BY THE LACK OF KNOWLEDGE OF THE PRODUCT, BUT THEY NEEDED TO DO MORE THAN SAY I THINK SO, GO AND FIND OUT!! LOST ME AS A CUSTOMER.
They had what I wanted, good prices on the items I purchased.
Stupid slow but great deals since theyll be out of business in a few years.
Customer service was extremely disappointing. Not only did I have to wait an hour and a half to get nothing done on my car but the guy at the front desk didn’t even take the time to call and tell me it wasn’t done. Absolutely ridiculous.
Fast service! Found the tools i needed teplaced and they were covered under warranty!
Great place for tools, appliances and lots of other things!
Pretty depressing to visit. Store is in its last days.
Good offers, just a bit sad that it looked much like a going out of business sale.
Its easy to see why Sears isnt making it. For one thing it takes forever to check out. Even with 2 cashiers and only 2 customers to check out it was painful. So many questions about signing up for stuff and oddball info they wanted about you. One guy ahead of me was filling out the credit card app. Took forever. Nobody was there. Costco has you do all the slow stuff at the service counter. Not in line. Another time an appliance clerk checked me out with a wifi tablet and some other gizmo. The process was very slow. I just wanted it to end. On the other hand its a shame because the quality is good and their service and parts are rarely matched. You can go online and get parts for decades old items. Who else does that?
Price was very reasonable for a Die Hard Battery; they even honored the online price. $30.00 cheaper than Auto Zone
If Sears corporate actually had a clue, Sears brand could come back with avengance. Hoping...
Almost no product in the hardware dept. Empty shelves everywhere! Maybe their going out of business??
I guess since their store is like a ghost store they only hire ghosts to work. I visited it 2 times in one week. Both for jewlery. I had to go to another department to get help both times. I waited on someone for 30 minutes the 2nd time. Reason for the 2 stars was the jewlery sale.
Got a good deal on a washer and dryer
Fine place to shop. Only remaining sears in madison now.
Very good collection of various materials
The management is rude and disrespectful to customers. Once a loyal sears customer now I cringe whenever I see their logo.
Fun place they have doctor and more
Very bad experience. I can see why Sears is in financial difficulties.
Very hard to find help had @ least 3 people ask did I work there 🤔🤔🤔
Place is dead! The only people there are the employees! Place is soo depressing!
Good display of mowers. Not enough woodworking tools.
Im going to hate when this place close they have wht I need all the time.
Went here to visit the uber hub. Its a Sears, what more can you say?
Used to bring in all my old craftsman tools to swap them out but no more!
It was a ghost town. No wonder, the few items my sister and I looked at were way overpriced
My fav...just awesome selection.
Cashier wore dirty Uggs and shabby sweater and sounded like she had better things to do than ring up my order. Its certainly not the store it used to be.
So, we ordered a refrigerator online and the east towne mall location would deliver it and install it. Delivery was set up for June 8th but they no showed. Got an automated call the next evening saying our delivery was delayed and needed to be rescheduled. Called and talked to a supervisor at a call center and was told they couldnt redeliver until Wednesday, 5 days away. I told her that was unacceptable and we should be squeezed in since Sears no showed. She said shed call the warehouse to find out if they could. She then came back to the phone and said the best they could do was the 11th which was 3 days away. The delivery was set up for a two hour window starting at 6:15pm. The drivers, who happened to be very nice and mannerable, came to our house at almost 5pm because they had extra time, but I was at work so I told him itd take me about 30 minutes to get home. He obliged. Made it home and the delivery guy took the plastic off and showed me 3 dents on the side of the fridge. I told him how Sears sold me a used dishwasher as if it were new, so I insistently asked them to make sure the fridge was used or refurbished. He said it didnt look like it. Called Sears, or at least was routed to a call center, and described the damage. The lady was really nice and gave me a store credit that actually could be used for tools.Really beginning to not trust that Im getting what I pay for from Sears and wonder if the appliances are really new or used and cleaned up.
Did not have a lot of merchandise or staff. The sales were great
50% + off. 10% store clerks. Clean store
Lots of aisles empty, looks like spooky place.
They dont advertise their limited repair services. I was told by the national sears office to get my snow thrower repaired here, but when I showed up I was told they dont repair snow throwers or lawn mowers any longer. Frustrating.
Sears Optical experience was quick and efficient.
Called East Towne store several times and left messages for call-backs. Endless phone tree, never got a live person in any dept, never got a call-back as of three days later. Why are you still open if this is how you do business? Sad, but ZERO service nowadays.
I can never find a sears employee. Will be out of business soon.
Long lines, and very few registers open. Excellent coupon deals.
Service at Sears Optical was great and staff were very pleasant. Received my glasses in a shorter time than expected
Just sad to see this store now. Very limited selections and it feels kind of empty
Good prices and helpful staff
Sears has gone done significantly. It will be closed soon.
Very good, kind helpful service ty
