My experience with Wisconsin Cutlery was absolutely fantastic! I had a sword that needed to be sharpened for my cutting practice and they were more than willing to sharpen it. Everyone there was extremely kind and they handled the project with great care and enthusiasm! The woman that I worked with went over in great detail everything that I wanted and what she could do. I even believe at one point she yelled “huzzah!” while sharpening it! They all brought this upbeat and fun energy into their craft which was really nice to see! The items they have on the inside are also top quality! Overall my blade has never been sharper (paper cutting sharp) and the experience has earned them a new customer. I will definitely be coming back for more than just sword sharpening in the future!

I just restored a vintage Old Hickory Boning knife but was having trouble sharpening the entire length of the cutting edge. I tried various whetstones to hone the blade but was unsuccessful at my attempt. I researched this business and read all the reviews and felt confident with my decision to bring my blade in. I was welcomed as soon as i I walked in and just had to wait 5 minutes for my knife to be sharpened. Quick and easy and incredibly sharp!!! This place is super cool. They have a great selection of kitchen essentials, a wide variety of high quality knives of all sorts, and a very knowledgeable staff.I stopped in looking to buy some butchering knives for breaking down portions of a hog. The owner not only recommended specific knives for the job, but she also explicitly tried *not* to oversell me on kits or knives I did not need. Additionally, she even had processing recommendations from her own experiences with butchering hogs. I will definitely be a repeat customer after my first experience!

Stopped there Christmas Eve 2020 to browse. Store was closing in 10 minutes. I was welcomed in, not rushed at all. Bought an awesome chef’s knife, Bluetooth thermometer, wire cooling rack, and some other misc gifts. Excellent store! Excellent staff! Felt like I was in a small town! They were so helpful (and fun!) over the phone in figuring out what I needed. Very positive shopping experience during COVID (excited to shop there after it ends, too!). They made it easy and didn’t dilute the experience while still being very safe and clear on how I could get what I needed. Will be back for our kitchen needs regularly! Sharpened our knives and they are like new — amazing!

I broke the tip off of a sentimental pocket knife, and I cautiously took it to Wisconsin Cutlery to see if it could be repaired. The owner first explained to me what she could do to fix it, and after working on it, it looked as good as new. Im very impressed by the quality and service! I also had some other knives sharpened while I was in, and theyre factory-sharp again. Ill definitely be back for any future knife sharpening or repairs.

Exceptional! Went in yesterday to have knives sharpened, and the woman there (I wish I caught her name) not only sharpened to them perfectly but also corrected an error from the last time the knives were sharpened (at another business). The staff is so knowledgeable and so friendly. We managed to pick up a few new kitchen items while there (garlic press, shakers, etc.) Used the knives this morning for the first time since being sharpened and theyre perfect. Highly recommend.

Fantastic customer service and product selection. Niche kitchen items that you never knew you needed but really do. These ladies knew just what products to recommend. Super friendly without pushy sales tactics. I found a cookie dough scooper and also purchased a clip spoon rest for my stock pot. This is my new go-to spot for foodie birthday gifts.

Ive stopped in a few times and theyve been excellent. They had a nice stock of knives and it was nice to be able to check out a bunch in hand.They also have whetstones and a good selection of grits, and a variety of ladles and whatnot. Really love it

Amazing kitchen store. Has what you need and what you want. My knives were sharpened for an extremely reasonable price and she knew how to sharpen my Messermeister knives perfectly to where they were sharper than factory. Absolutely love how sharp they all are now. I live a couple of hours away from Madison and plan on driving to get my knives sharpened once or twice a year.

I have been here a couple of times. They have a large selection of knives and cooking equipment. However, today when I visited, one of the employees was very loudly trash-talking a job applicant in front of other employees and I felt really uncomfortable. Good items but the staff can be pretty unprofessional. I would much rather purchase kitchen items at places like Orange Tree Imports or Sur La Table where the staff are more mature.

Fantastic resource in Madison. They sharpen knives, including serrated, for a good price, and theyve always directed me to the best place to look for an item they didnt carry. Their limited selection doesnt seem to be a problem considering the fact that they try to both carry inexpensive, great value goods as well as high-end, durable ones. My first stop next time Im in need of a new utensil or knife, and a great place to browse when Im in the area.

Wonderful little store. Brought in a vintage butchers knife to be sharpened and the lady who was running the store was very kind and informative. They have a great selection of cutlery and supplies. Over all had a great experience and Ill definitely be back with my other vintage cutlery to be sharpened and to drool over beautiful pieces they carry :)

I feel like I bought a new set of knives! Highly recommend them!

I had a couple pairs of fabric scissors that needed help. One pair had been neglected since the 1970s and were very dull. The other was a pair of Gingher shears that I had sharpened once through a local hardware store, and I’d not been happy with the results.Both pairs are now nice and sharp and a pleasure to use. At $5 a pair and while-you-wait service, this was a great bargain to get my scissors back in fine order.

This is one of my favorite little stores in Madison. Not only do they have a wide variety of knives and offer knife sharpening, but the have many little kitchen gadgets available. Ive bought everything from sheet pans and scoopers to very large mixing bowls Ive never been able to find elsewhere. They are always very friendly and willing to help or discuss any knives and kitchen equipment.I can highly recommend this as a place to stop, even if just to browse the assorted equipment and gadgets.

Friendly and fast, even though they were busy my knives still got sharpened quickly. Great store for cooking supplies too, will definitely be going back.

The sharpening service is astounding. $7 for your standard 8 chefs knife. I took a Farberware knife I got for free second-hand there after it saw a year of no-steel use from me. Kept the thing in the drawer. Smacked it around. All the no-nos of knife care.Showed up on a Saturday. Waited maybe 10 minutes. Wound up with a scary sharp blade. They even ground the bolster down, which some sharpeners Ive been to dont do.The thing actually stood up to the factory sharpness of a few higher-end knives (Global, Henckels, etc). They definitely know what theyre doing here. Id highly recommend taking in your dull GoodCook or heirloom Wustof here to get it up to surgical sharpness!

I absolutely love Wisconsin Cultery! I happened to of run into this store after visiting Concious Carnivore. The door was open and I heard the sound of knives being sharpened. As I glanced over I saw a huge what I think was a leather wheel and a woman sharpening a knife. It was an amazing sight. So I walked in and there was a over sized bench grinder with more honing wheels. A very large display with various style knives from cheap kitchen knives to very expensive quality steal knives. I ended up purchasing a very nice chef knife. Not only did I get a awesome knife but some knowledge about knives. Its a great store and I only wish this store was in Milwaukee!

Wisconsin Cutlery does a very expert job of sharpening fine knives but they explain the process and give tips for you to avoid mistakes in a kind way. Plus the smal shop outdoes some big city well known names in their products and wares, from cast iron cooking utensils to the finest knives and kitchen supples. Worth a special trip!!!

I went here searching for a new knife set. There was not much of a selection. I drove from the far westside of Madison to this store just to be ignored. I was greeted when I first arrived but nothing after that. I had many questions but the owner just stayed up front chit chatting with an employee. When he did finally make his way to the back he offered his help to two customers that came in after me. There was only four customers in the store so he knew they came in later. I walked out and will never return again! Bad customer service is a big pet peeve. I ended up going to Bed, Bath and Beyond.

They did a great job on my knives for a good price

We have had knives sharpened several times here. The first couple of times went smoothly. The last time the knives were sharpened by a younger girl who proceeded to badly damage a couple of the knives. One knife had a 1/8 gouge in the blade from the grinding wheel. The worst part? She wrapped them up, charged us, and said nothing .
