I went with my mom and it was our first time ever having their coffee, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches. My mom knows James from working together in the past and we didn’t know he was the owner — which made the experience even better! Everyone was so friendly, the atmosphere was beautiful, and we can’t wait to make this our regular go-to coffee shop.
The last two times I’ve come in, I’ve had to wait over 25 minutes for my order - and one of those times it was just a drink and not busy at all. This is way worse than other local coffee shop’s wait time. The burrito I ordered the second time was also extremely tiny and honestly not worth the money :/
Beautiful location and open air during the summer! Great pumpkin spice!
The drinks are really amazing!! I got a cold iced green tea and its really good! Definitely a good place to go after school with a friend or alone for drinks and study :)
A pleasant surprise to run into this coffee shop by accident - lovely chicken soup that had been made with some TLC, nice pastries that could only be improved by the option of reheating them before serving. Nice blended smoothies that werent too sweet, and good coffee. The space had really nice ambiance and despite how full it was, it didnt feel loud or noisy, and could have been a good study/work space - and some were, indeed, using it that way.I was here in late October, but clearly the windowed-area becomes a pleasant open-air porch in summer. Hope to re-visit in better weather when Im next in town. :)
My 2nd time there and super, super friendly, helpful staff! Even tho you cant see their smiles, their eyes light up and just ma k e you feel at home. Coffee is excellent and the staff know their business, and the scones are to die for. Blueberry is my favorite! People get their and get your cup of joe today!! I wont steer you wrong! CHEERS😀
NOW featuring six regular vegan baked goods ** every single day ** from Troubadour bakery!! Colectivo (out of Milwaukee) roasts my favorite coffee in Wisconsin, and for a while now they have featured several vegan breakfast and lunch items from the kitchen. They have a delicious sweet potato and kale bowl, a Chia oatmeal power bowl, a falafel sandwich, and a couple veggie sandwiches that can be made vegan, sourdough and bagels that are also vegan. They also offer and soy milk and other non-dairy options to go with their excellent coffee, cappuccino and espresso offerings. They also always have one two three vegan smoothies available. Lunch items come with green salad, fruit or chips, and there are always options in the cooler to take away, like their hummus wrap and mixed fruit, juices etc. But the addition of the bakery items has really put this place over the top for me, and now it is one of my favorite spots in Madison. I am here several times a week, and not just because I work a block away. :-) The Morning Glory muffin is so moist, and filling. Three of either of the oatmeal protein bites will fill you up all morning if you add a piece of fruit... The cranberry almond bar is absolutely TO DIE FOR, and is so juicy and buttery - it is like a tart cherry pie. I havent tried the caramel tahini bar or the ginger cream cookie sandwich yet, but I am prepared to swoon when that happens. All of the vegan bakery items are also gluten free! I believe the bread they serve is from Madison sourdough. Everything I have had here is absolutely delicious. So much to choose from for breakfast or lunch. Open early to late.
Not really my favorite espresso, but definitely my favorite espresso without traveling downtown. Havent tried it pre-COVID, but looked like a good gathering spot.Friendly staff, good pastries, but definitely pretty slow going when I was there last month. Still, if youre not in a rush, well worth it.Plus, its a real cappuccino, not a latte.
Company that promotes liberal values to the public all the time then is against a union in their own company. Practice what you preach. Sorry your greed takes priority over your values
I particularly like this Colectivo; they have a fireplace! Also, they have a ton of different roasted coffee with roast dates on the packages, quite a selection of pastries and cafe fare, and a creative variety of different drinks. The location is big enough that you will likely be able to find somewhere to sit. They have lovely garage door windows all around. Tip: bring your own mug and get 25 cents off!
Thought the coffee (black) was good not great. Although my husband got a speciality drink and commented it was the best coffee he’s ever had.
Beautiful place. Friendly staff. Wait was quite long even though it was not busy.
Collective Coffee: the largest union coffee shop in the USA. They will pour an eight ounce cup without any challenge/password nonsense. 👍👍👍
Delicious coffee and treats at a friendly neighborhood spot? Yes, please. The staff is great at recommending drinks and are super helpful and nice. The food here elevates it above a standard coffee shop. I definitely go out of my way to go here.
Stopped by for a quick cup of coffee. Felt very safe - everyone was masked and distanced. The coffee was delicious. Will return
Great atmosphere, extremely aesthetically pleasing cup designs, and delicious coffee.
Nice coffeehouse with many options. Great place for a hang
Colectivo is one of my favorite coffee providers in Madison, and the Monroe St. location is probably my most favorite location. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad experience here, and their coffee is on point. Wether it’s a latte, some breakfast, or just some black coffee, you won’t be disappointed. I recommend grabbing some beans while you’re here to make coffee when you’re at home. Such good quality.
Yes it’s a chain. Yes it’s damn good.
It took 32 minutes for them to make a smoothie and a mocha. Go to a place like Cargo, they actually care about customer service.
Spent over 45 minutes waiting for two drinks, no one available . Understaffed
The atmosphere of this Colectivo is casual in the most beautiful way possible. I love the design, and the vibe is energetic but not loud or overwhelming. Blue Heeler is my favorite coffee blend - its all the flavor without the bitterness. Unless you like your drinks particularly sweet, Id recommend asking for half sweet if you order a syrup. I ordered the baked oatmeal with coconut milk, but I imagine most items on the menu are just as fresh and tasty. If I had one negative comment, its that it was difficult to find seating because the shop was full.
As a non coffee drinker I love how many tea based options colectivo has. Currently love the windy ci-tea. Also v impressed with their covid protocols and set up.
I remember when this place was Pasquales Mexican restaurant and it was amazing. This neighborhood is top-notch and will always hold a special place in my heart. The coffee shop is unique and definitely a good place to hang out.
Cure place. Love the layout.
Drinks, food, pricing, seating, music and service are all average. Its a coffee shop chain, like any other. They lost stars with me because their bathroom set up is so disgusting. *There are no sinks or paper towels in the bathrooms.* This means the doors are extra grimy from zero washing before leaving. If you get anything on your hands, like baby poo or period blood, you get to be in front of everyone while washing up. Are you pregnant and dealing with morning sickness? Better vomit neatly because theres nothing in the bathroom to clean up with. Need to change and clean your menstrual cup? Have fun showing it off to all the people in line! Need to reapply make up or fix your contacts? Everyone gets to watch you make that weird face while you do your thing. All the cleaning and grooming youd normally do at a mirror and sink has an audience here, so you better not be remotely shy.
Great atmosphere great coffee
Macchiato done right. Good bakery items but still looking for that Sunshine Bun!
Did a fantastic job keeping covid protocols on the forefront! Amazing coffee, great people!
I didnt realize that the curbside pickup was behind the building and the person bringing me my order was decidedly unhappy about it. They informed me of my mistake in a very condescending way and with an irritated tone as if I was coming everyday and making the same mistake over and over. Beth. To make this easier on both of us, curbside is BEHIND the building. Before I had a chance to apologize they had already turned to leave. It was my mistake for seeing the sign out front that said open for pickup and curbside and thinking that I should park near the sign but they could have corrected me in a nicer way. The direction I came in didnt allow me to see the curbside pickup sign next to the parking lot because it was around the corner and I had parked in front of the door in front of the building. I couldnt have possibly been the first person to make that mistake so maybe thats why the person was mean about it but who knows, maybe I was. I dont come to Monroe St that often so I wasnt familiar with the layout of their property. Anyway, sorry?
Nice coffeehouse good staff
“Ooo sorry can’t take orders over the phone”
Good coffee and food. Walkable neighborhood with ample parking...just be careful not to park into driveways. Good app and pickup system for coronavirus.
Great place for a post run coffee and snack. They focus on local suppliers and have good coffee. As someone whose pet peeve is freezing in the summer time because of over air-conditioning, their indoor/outdoor set up when its nice out is perfect.
Glad to see they are back open!!
Very good coffee and ok pastries. I really appreciate their strict enforcement of social distancing and capacity limits.
Both the food and drinks are great - you really cannot go wrong with their menu. Furthermore the staff is always extremely kind and very quick to get your order out. One of my favorite cafés in Madison.
Fantastic coffee, great flavor! Try the mocha shake. The staff is friendly and fast and the atmosphere/ decor is very inclusive and welcoming.
Have had not-so-great experiences with their staff in the past (especially an argument about what they wanted to charge us versus the price posted right on their menu) but decided to give it another try. Had a better experience this time. Yummy hazelnut latte and great music playing (heard some Tears for Fears!), relaxing atmosphere. Well try again!
Its coffee. I ordered it hot and black and thats just what I got. Seemed like it was a darker roast. Cool looking little shop though.
Favorite coffee shop to work from on Monroe St. Walls open up in the warmer months, so feels almost like youre working outside. Its cozy and toasty in the winter months. Great selection of coffee, tea, baked goods, and sandwiches. The only kind is that it can get pretty busy mid-morning!
Nice cozy place. Their bakery is pretty good and service is relatively fast. For a chain style coffee shop this is one of the better ones, most end up running downhill with low quality baristas and sugary drinks. While there are still better places to go in Madison, this remains is a good option. The prices are reasonable and there is usually plenty of space to study (both here and on state).
Super great food and drinks! Great comfy chairs, and lovely outdoor seating too!
Good prices, little wait, nice people, great drinks!
Great place to co-work, gather with friends or enjoy some sacred alone time. The environment is warm, welcoming and offers a variety of seating options including a cozy fireside circle. Plenty of delicious coffee beans to choose from and fun light bites. Note: the menu is not super friendly for non-dairy / gluten-free folks.
One of my favorite Colectivo locations in Madison. It was the first one, having first been an Alterra based in Milwaukee, and with the name change and Milwaukee roots, its a great Wisconsin coffee roaster. I love the lighter roasts and the double point days on Tuesdays. There was a remodel a couple of years ago that provided more individual seating with counters along the windows, which ensured more availability for patrons.
I love this coffee shop! I’ve been here several times and always had very good food, great service, and really cool atmosphere. I think the art is my favorite thing about the place. It’s very eclectic and funky and cool, as is the ambience. I could sit here all afternoon and enjoy the experience.
Great regional coffee chain. Awesome neighborhood feel. Menu of drinks and food to accommodate all comers. We generally avoid loyalty programs, but their coffees are so good there was no way not to join. It can get crowded as this neighborhood likes to be out and about, but maybe thats your thing and its just testament to the good eats youll be partaking.
Unionized Baristas!
I think that Colectivo is a nice solid choice for consistently good coffee. Its not high end and you wont get that amazing drink, but it will be very good. And it always is. This particular location has a great atmosphere, is generally busy, but you can usually find a space to sit down. Food is also pretty good, but a touch pricey for what it is. Im still fine with the prices, but just wish they were a touch lower for the food.
Our party of 4 enjoyed sandwiches and assorted beverages mid-afternoon. Everything was delicious and definitely worth a return visit. Peacemaker espresso is absolutely the best!!!
Absolutely lovely. i come here at least twice a week to get tea bread and a drink, and it’s just amazing. the place is gorgeous, the food and drink is great and i love the workers.
Good coffee and espresso. Aficionados might wish for more, but occasionally an outstanding espresso-based drink will be exceptional. The respectable range of baked goods are similarly good and occasionally more than that. Various breakfast offerings are available all day. The sandwich menu strikes the same basic chords, but the soups are sometimes exceptional. A couple of local beers (often from the Colectivo brewery) are always available on tap. A popular place but you do not usually have to wait for a spot to enjoy the open and airy space.
Chill atmosphere and excellent coffee. Parking lot is small so prepare to walk a block. Food is good & nice bakery.
I have to start off by saying this is hands down my favorite coffee around the Madison area! They have such unique flavors that youre bound to find at least one youll like as too. My wife and I love the outdoor area (its covered but has garage doors they open weather permiting). Its a great spot to catch up on some reading, homework, regular work, or with an old friend you havent seen in a while. My wife and I live on the east side of Madison, but will still make the drive over here to enjoy the inviting atmosphere and delicious coffee or tea!! If you havent been, you must check it out. If you have been, than you already know how awesome it is 😁
The food and ambience is great, pleasant place to have breakfast and read your newspaper or book. Their breakfast burritos are hangover heaven. Not a fan of their regular coffee.
Love this coffee house and gathering spot. Service is always excellent, Chi late I love, spicy and always hot. The food is good and the pastries are wonderful. Stop in and enjoy this Monroe venue. Downtown is great too🤗
I like this place a lot, but I ordered eggs and bacon on a bagel I expected just eggs. They put red pepper and onions in the eggs without letting me know. It is not posted that this is how its made. It should be stated somewhere that they add this to their eggs. I do have to say their scones are delicious!
Love this place
I love working here and catching up with friends, staff is always very nice, and the venue is great, definitely my neighborhood coffee shop, but the last few times Ive been here the service was extremely slow. Just took me 5 minutes to get my latte, and the time before it took 10. Either time looked like that were training people, and then changing shifts, but nothing was said to people waiting in line. Proactive communication makes the world of difference.
Love the atmosphere and the pastries. However parking can be a bit tricky. If you dont mind having to walk for a bit, its okay. Otherwise the people are nice and the service is fast.
This is my favorite coffee shop in all of Madison. I love that they are so supportive of people who bike (you can use their air pump for your tires if they are running low!). There is a cozy fire place and lots of places to sit. In the summer they open the all-glass garage doors to let in the breeze. Oh, and they have great coffee.
Good coffee. Good atmosphere. A lot of nice looking females just saying
I go here frequently and i usually enjoy it. today i got adovocado toast and something was very wrong with it. i don’t know if it was what the onions were doused in?? but it’s soo full of citric acid my lips and mouth and burning terribly.
Great coffee delivered safely
Great coffee and macaroons! Thought it was strange that after 7 they dont use reusable cups... But overall, good service - friendly staff. Warm environment. Would go again!
Excellent coffee!
Colectivo is probably my favorite Madison coffee shop. Great coffee, amazing bakery items and seriously every time I stop in the staff are kind, helpful and welcoming. Love it most in warmer weather when they open the garage doors its feels like you are sitting outside :) I only wished they had a cute little kid section with toys- I would go more often!
Love this place! Great coffee with a great vibe! So cute and hip inside. PLUS they have water or sparkling water on tap for free. Sold.
Great food, coffee, location, and atmosphere. Comfortable armchairs and places spots for visiting with friends. Ive seldom waited to order or find a seat, despite this being a popular destination. The only downside is the difficulty of finding peeing nearby. You should really walk or bike to enjoy the neighborhood.
Love the coffee, cute atmosphere. As far as the service, well I asked for a favor, assuming they would grind it for free, which they did. But I asked for course grind. He asked me what kind of maker I have. I told him kuereg, I shouldnt have. Nice exchange of words and all, but I got home now, about 65 miles away, to find he did me a favor and fine powder is what I get. Even if I use the bulb before each cup, I get about 1 shot of coffee per brew.Next time I guess Ill have to watch over your shoulder so you can learn how to do what s asked of you instead of second guessing my request.Ill still come back though, your store sells a great product. Been drinking this same coffee a long time now just medium, or course grind.
Stellar food, coffee, service and atmosphere. I had the strawberry rubbarb oatmeal and it was amazing. My wife had the egg, potatoes and bacon wrap, very tasty. Two for breakfast was $16.
Best coffee in town! Easily best tasting coffee Ive had and employees are friendly and love what they do. Love the flower they make with the foam. Hate having to wreck it by putting sugar in the coffee.
By far this my favorite coffee shop. The seating has an outdoor vibe with fireplace. Such cozy places to sip in the best coffee in the area. Roasted locally in Milwaukee, collective serves high quality teas and lattes made with love.
I ordered a simple, extra-large iced coffee, nothing fancy. It took nearly 15 minutes to appear while people behind me with orders requiring espresso shots and fussy assembly got their orders well before I did. The coffee was good, but I was not impressed with the service.
The atmosphere is good, time waiting is a little long specially if your in a hurry but if would like to relax and enjoy your hot drink or a good breakfast this is the perfect place to go. I went in today best baked oatmeal I have ever had. Im not a fan of oatmeal but will definitely would go back for more.
Wonderful coffee shop--great atmosphere for both study and conversation. Good food. Generally busy, but with ample seating even at peak hours.
The baristas are very kind and the atmosphere is incredible. There is an awesome outdoor seating area that gets converted to indoors when its cold out. They have a good variety of roasts, and their specialty drinks are great too.
White people. White people everywhere. I loved the mocha. It was soooo busy and hard to find a place to sit. The staff are semi-friendly. One of them completely ignored me. I’m new to Madison and looking for a new, diverse coffee shop. I might be in the wrong neighborhood.
Super trendy environment and super great coffee. Highly recommend getting the Blue Heeler coffee beans from there! It is a delicious blend of dark and light roasted beans. Everyone I know that gets their beans from there gets that flavor, and for good reason!
Great coffee, great service, delicious food. Nice presentation of the food as well. And what a great place to be at during warmer days with the open windows. Really good ambiance.
One of my least favorite Colectivos. I have gotten some coffee to go and they’ve been either wrong or just very bad. They willing to remake them, but when your heading out for the day and don’t have time to drive or bike back it’s a total bummer. Sometimes it’s spot on, which is great.
Great spot to grab a coffee. The baked goods are really good too.
Beautiful interior, great selection of coffees, teas, both hot and cold. Wifi for getting work done. Friendly staff, and a relaxed atmosphere. Not excellent for parking nearby, but it is part of the beautiful Monroe street shopping area.
Very lively and interesting crowd. Comfortable, warm interior space & great staff. Seating sometimes hard to find.
This is a case where I wish Google had half stars. Its really 3.5 for me. Great location, and theyve done a great job with the space. The staff is very hit or miss. The front of the house staff frequently seem to be hired because they have the right look, but their customer service skills are pretty lacking. We have to repeat or correct our order with them more often than not. There are several coffee shops on the near west side, weve been to most of them, this place is reliably the slowest. The food is good, but the kitchen is totally out of sync with the coffee; your food will be delivered up to fifteen minutes before your coffee is ready.
