The food was meh.. not much flavor. We had Turkey Club with hashbrowns, and breakfast burrito with breakfast potatoes. I feel like for the price it was not worth it. Nice and clean, the salad bar looked good as well. It was super quiet no music playing.
Great brunch spot, especially for folks from out of town. Very reasonably priced and a great selection. Plus the food is delicious. Would definitely go again!
Food is really good and staff is nice. However the amount of food you get for what you pay is meh.
Excellent choice for quality food and convenience.
Great for food allergies. Allergic to pork so they cooked everything separate, would definitely eat here again. Hard to find places that take allergies seriously!
Gooseberrys breakfast food is great--I recommend the skillet, if youre looking for something to try. The staff has always been friendly and I appreciate the ability of being able to call in an order ahead of time so its ready to pick up when Im running short on time. Its a little more expensive than some places, but the quality of the food and the convenience of it being located on the square makes it worth it in my opinion. Ill definitely be going back.
Excellent food, decent price. They have one of the best fried cod sandwich I have eaten so far. Open for breakfast and lunch. Salad bar with many choices and grab-and-go items from fridge. Also made to order food prepared reasonably fast. Recommended.
Always clean. Always hot and fresh. A decent variety on the menu and a fresh salad bar thats fantastic. I especially love their pork belly Mac and cheese. My out of town visitor demanded we go there because they loved that Mac and cheese so much the last time he was in town. He said he thought about it several times on his drive up. Its THAT good, folks.
The staff is amazing. Very kind and friendly and always looking to make sure you have a good experience. The food is OK. If youre looking for a salad bar, this is the place to go - they have everything your typical salad bar will have (varieties of lettuce, veggies, and meats - a few vegan/vegetarian protein options: eggs, edamame, and chickpeas). However, if you want a huge salad, it could get a bit pricey. They also have a variety of items for breakfast and lunch, like briskets and pasta. For being a cafe inside the US Bank building, the options are great!
Intimate city place. Excellent coffee and a nice selection of baked goods. Light meals; veggie or vegan options.
Very good food and friendly service. Wait time was a little long during the lunch rush, but not terrible.Tried the pork belly BLT, and it was quite good.Great location for those working near the capitol.
Great (and cheap) salad bar, good sandwiches. The food comes out fast too, so its good for your lunch hour
Very nice place, food is fresh and hot. Prices are reasonable. Would go back again.
Great selection of breakfast fare and lunch sandwiches. Huge salad bar. Very friendly staff. Prices are cheap for being on the square. Weekly specials. I eat here 3 times a week, its that good. Try the Cod Sandwich!
Great salad bar, friendly service, and good menu optionsI think a previous reviewer confused Gooseberry with the restaurant formerly known as Cranberry Creek, which is at the opposite end of the building and recently changed management. Gooseberry has the best salad bar on the Square and everything is always fresh and delicious. They have a good selection of more interesting options like edamame salads in addition to the standards. And taco bar once a week (Thursdays?) as well as fresh soups. Try the homebaked pastries; today they had homemade marshmallows!
Quality food here. If youre looking for a tasty lunch this is the place. The food always tastes fresh and they have a good selection of hot sandwiches. They also have a great salad bar.
Excellent breakfast! Had the special, sweet potato and chorizo hash with 2 eggs. Just the right amount of spiciness.
We had their taco bar catered in for a retirement party and it was excellent! Plenty of food and toppings, reasonably priced. The best part was that we didnt have to do any of the set-up or clean-up!
Not a fan at all. The food is literally pre-packaged in plastic, and the soups are clearly reheated all week long. Very little in the way of substantive vegan options, as well. The music in the kitchen is also distracting and offensive.
Its closed
Good food and friendly staff. The hours say 5 pm M-F but they actually close at 4:30 pm, not sure why. Good place for a custom salad from their salad bar, soups also available. Most sandwiches are pretty tasty and they offer several options for sides including chips, pasta salad, and fruit.
Fabulous salad bar. I was with my parents who are very critical foodies and they were thrilled with the variety on the salad bar. Beautifully roasted vegetables and delicious grilled chicken! I would highly recommend it. Definately high quality and delicious.
Very unimpressive. I expected more based on reviews. Came here for breakfast for the first time and the workers were a bit rude. Portions were on the smaller side and the food was overly salty. I definitely would love to give lunch or dinner a try but based on my first experience, it just didn’t cut it for me.
Excellent place to grab saladls. They offer a very good variety of items.
Meh food and atmosphere. Lots of state workers eating here for a lower cost lunch.
I was super excited for the salad bar when walking by, but then once I was inside and making my salad I realized that several of the containers were empty or nearly empty and many items didnt look very fresh. My Co-Worker said her food was really good - but she had to wait a VERY long time for it. I was almost done eating by the time she got her food.
Very good food ! Great service! Open relaxing atmosphere 🎉
Okay food, quick service. Staff could be a little friendlier. A bit pricey for what it is.
Definitely good omelette & toast. Cheap for being so close to the square and employees were extremely courteous
This place has a great salad bar, and the grill is on point. Food comes out quick if you are stopping in for lunch.
I work nearby so visit often and its very hit-or-miss. The large salad bar is always consistently good. But other than that it gets dicey. Ive had a good sandwich (fries are usually good) but some meh sandwiches also. Some soups are good but Ive recently had a cream of mushroom that tasted like it had gone off, and a beef with barley that had so much vinegar in it, it seemed like it was meant to cover something up. I threw it out after 2 bites. The breakfast burrito I had was about 50% raw onions. So my advice is sick to the salad bar.
So I was all excited to take my fiancé to late breakfast at Gooseberry today as she had never been there and I had. In the past I’ve had good experiences there. Today that was not the case. The cashier who helped us was pleasant and friendly. When we got our food it was extremely disappointing. I had the three cheese omelette. It was way too salty. My fiancé had pancakes and bacon. The pancakes were very bland and heavy. We weren’t impressed and went on our way. A few minutes later I realized I didn’t have my phone so I went back into the restaurant to see if I had left it there. When I approached the manager and asked her if I may have left it there. She was extremely rude and crabby with her response which was a very terse no! I was highly disappointed with the experience today and I won’t be returning any time soon.
Salad bar is excellent! Clam chowder on Fridays is top notch.
After a couple of visits, the quality of the food at Gooseberry on the Square is not memorable enough to compel me to return. While I enjoyed medley of flavors in the chicken BBQ chili, the criminally under-salted chicken dumpling soup was devoid of flavor.Like the chicken soup, my Philly Cheesesteak sandwich was severely under-salted. While I did appreciate the sear on the tasty oven roasted ribeye steak, the onions and peppers were under-cooked.The corned beef on my Reuben sandwich suffered from the lack of time on the griddle and the quality of the bread was a disappointment. The restaurant is bathed in natural light and provides a pleasant view of the Capitol Square.
The salad was fantastic. It was fresh and had tons of options on the buffet style.
Good salad bar downtown. Little pricey but simple food on the square. Never super busy
Cafeteria style gourmet sandwiches. Great spot for a work week lunch. Nice, clean, and good variety.
Great place to pick up a great salad!
Great food, great service and great location.
Awesome lunch options, better than youd expect.
Nice light atmosphere. Great food.
They have an awesome salad bar!
Great, simple breakfast food, can’t beat that price downtown.
Fresh good tasting foid.
Usually they are ok but today food was pretty bad. got salad today and the grilled chicken was very chewy and not under-cooked :(
Tasty, reasonably-priced breakfast, with prompt service.
Best salad bar downtown.
Amazing service, Love their soups!
Great fresh food with great service
Best pancakes this side of the Mississippi. Hands down.😻
Clean, sleek and quick service
Not gonna lie? Not a fan of the weird hours. And no parking.
Fantastic salad bar choices!
The food here is so good!
Very good food and fast.
Breakfast pastries selection is limited unless you call ahead 24 hours!
Food is so good!
