Bad experience with sales. I bought a broken, overpriced instrument that and they wouldnt let me return it because it was a consign (they were selling it on behalf of someone else). It was also overpriced. Their repair guy was supposed to come take a look at it but he never showed. No one tried to contact him. Go to Hill City Music.
Great place. Ive been buying my guitar strings and picks there for almost 2 years, they have a good variety and usually carry what I need. Ive gotten my electric guitar set up at their repair shop and they did a great job, and its not too expensive. Employees are knowledgeable and are glad to set you up with an instrument. You should always ask before grabbing guitars off the walls though, its common courtesy. My only main issue is their lack of good stock of electric guitars. I know with Covid obviously that might make it difficult to keep good inventory, thats fine. Otherwise would recommend. They also do brass instrument rentals for schools I believe, thats cool.
This place was absolutely fantastic as always. I got a Brand New acoustic classical guitar for Christmas and the employees were more than happy to help me string it up and were very friendly and professional. I highly recommend that any musician looking for a great instrument and supplies comes to this place.
Very helpful and knowledgeable. Worth it to see instruments and they try hard to match online prices. I highly recommend them
It is true about the employees, they will not come to assist you and just chat behind the counter, though, I would imagine they are willing to assist if you asked, though I imagine most going in know what they are looking for. Selection was okay, they have a little of everything, jack of all trades sort. Interior looks about like the exterior. I wouldnt know about their pricing, idk the standard pricing on a lot, but did seem kinda high on some things. But can say strings are the same if not $2-3 more than Amazon, which isnt bad. If there was anything else near Id probably go there, but there isnt and that is where they win and you lose. Just dont like the vibe of interior and employees.
Best music store in town! Sean O’Brien is awesome he always takes the time to make sure you have exactly what you need. Jessie and the Rebecca are awesome to very friendly will come back soon!
Great customer service! 👍
Always upfront. As honest as anyone I have ever dealt with.
Wonderful staff. Jesse and Rebecca were very helpful, They helped me get everything i needed in a good price range. Great customer service, Definitely recommend.
Good folks to work with. I highly recommend them.
Quick to answer on the chat app. Friendly and helpful
A friend of mine recommended Lynchburg Music Center to me when I mentioned I was looking for a guitar to start lessons. The people were great to work with, they were knowledgeable about their products, and it was a great experience. I would totally recommend them if you have a musical need. I will be going to them for my musical needs in the future!
Went to get strings changed. They did a phenomenal job.
I have been here several times in the past few months and the staff is super informative and very hands on with showing and explaining things to do with my sons guitar. The guys who work in the repair shop are awesome! Definitely a great store for the music lover!
Stopped by again today and was reminded why I NEVER COME HERE. Literally walked around the store for twenty minutes and not one employee even asked if I needed anything. No greetings, no offers to help, nothing. Always two employees behind the front counter talking to each other. Besides the really bad customer service, their selection isnt great. Their shelves tend to look empty like theyre going out of business soon, they dont have a lot of common name brand guitars, and their showroom is generally unappealing. Moreover, they have Do not touch signs everywhere in the store; I get it, you dont want freeloaders walking in and just banging on your products but its to the point where you genuinely feel unwelcome. Ive never been in a music store where I felt less-welcome which is sad because this one is super convenient to my house.Overall, Ive been in here probably 5-6 times in the 10 years Ive lived here and they never fail to disappoint me. If you need music stuff and dont care about being treated poorly, they have a sufficient selection but Ive seen many smaller shops with better setups. They just dont try. Go visit My Guitar Shop across the river, youll feel like a longtime customer first trip through the door.
Im not sure how there are any negative reviews for this store. I was greeted at the door by a cashier. He asked if I needed anything, and when I had questions he was very friendly, knowledgeable, and personal. The manager was also like this too. Great atmosphere, great layout, great prices, great staff, and great instruments.
Ricky P. is absolutely awesome at guitar setup/repair. Hes also an incredible guitar player and great guy all around. This is why I keep coming back.
I received very helpful advice on my guitar string purchase. I was about to buy one type but was advised to buy a different type and was given a great explanation why. It actually saved me money and ended up being very educational.
I have been frequenting this store for the past couple months, since I found out they existed. To this point the staff has been helpful, knowledgeable and I really have no complaints. Well, I spend too much money in there but that is totally on me :-) If I had to point out a deficiency, I would say the recording and engineering section could be more comprehensive but I am splitting hairs at this point. The repair shop has done work on two of my higher end acoustic guitars, one a Martin and the other an Alvarez Yairi as well as setting up my Jackson electric and I couldnt be happier. Well done guys.
A great local business that has always been there. We use them to buy books and accessories for our kids school band instruments--their prices seem close to new, quality stuff online, and I appreciate the help and opinions of the staff. Weve also bought instruments in the past and used them for piano lessons. Good experiences all around.
Excellent staff, large selection of gear, and has all my musician needs. Highly recommended
Great store. Very helpful competent and friendly staff. Helped fix the input jack of my electric. I was in and out of there in 5 min.
I dont like this place. Its practically the only music store in town so the owner can kindof do whatever they want. I keep coming back for a product that they say will be in stock next week. This happens every week. Pretty sure the employees are treated like dirt as well.
Great place to shop.
I sent an inquiry about lessons and received a very detailed email about lessons, rentals, buying, name and phone number if I had any questions. Im new at this and it was the first music place I contacted that didnt make me feel dumb, or that at my age, I couldnt do it.Thank you Lynchburg Music Center! I look forward to doing business with you!
Despite what others may say, Lynchburg Music Center has always taken care of me and has furnished much of what I play with in various bands. The employees are personable, friendly, and talkative (in a good way) and they are always happy to help me with anything I might need. My only complaint is that their stock can be thin at times (not always), but as a locally-owned music store I understand why this can be the case. The guitar techs are also knowledgeable, friendly, and quick! Also - theyve price matched Musicians Friend more than a few times for me. I try not to abuse this since I know that Musicians Friend is a huge corporate music store and LMC is a local shop, though.
Great prices and great location. they baked cookies for christmas and were very helpful. thank you guys!
I have been in a couple of times and no one even acknowledged me. The only time I shop here is when I need something that day and I have no other options. They are priced higher than other music stores in the area.
Lynchburg Music has friendly staff and they are always willing to help. They always have a good selection of reeds in stock when I come in.
The greatest service Ive ever had at a music store. I was having some issues with a cable that was built into my car, and the guys went above and beyond to help me get it fixed. They even brought all the sotoring euipment outside to get it fixed and working properly. Im blown away with their customer service.
Not enough woodwind supplies or enough woodwind sheet music.
Went in their to get some help with my guitar and was met with very friendly and helpfull staff
Very Very Good
The good:-Employees are nice. To me, at least. The bad:-only open til 6-cheaper to buy everything online-repairs are pricey-always out of stock. ALWAYS.I want to like this place, I really do. But I end up frustrated with them every time. Im all about supporting local shops but for obvious reasons I really wish a Guitar Center would open up in town.
If you want service I suggest going elsewhere. I went in on two different occasions to purchase a new acoustic guitar. Could not get an employee to assist me in anyway. The employees were too busy with their own conversation to help. I finally called the store from my cell phone to ask a question. I decided to go elsewhere. I actually found another Guitar store just down the street off of Timberlake rd. I googled Taylor dealers and Point Source Audio on 52 Beechwood dr, came up. I am glad to say I was able to make a purchase at this dealer.
Great online experience with Lynchburg Music! Great price and fast shipping - thanks!!
Love Frank!
This place has been around for 20+ years, who knows how long, always owned/run by the same people as far as I know. Theyre gonna be a little high on the prices, although theyve gotten a lot better since the internet came along. Always double check before you buy though, I did catch a couple things that were pretty outrageous. I went in there today to buy drum sticks (Vic Firth 5B nylon), a drum key, and some tuning lugs. They had none of these. They had lugs, but the size I needed was the one they were out of. I dont know who does the ordering, but they arent too good at their job apparently. A music store should never ever ever ever ever run out of drum keys.
Ive been going to LMC off and on since the end of Bill Clintons 2nd term. They have a wide selection of acoustic & electric guitars, amps, keyboards, drums, etc. They have inexpensive instruments on up to ask before touching instruments. Their used prices can be as good as or better than what youd find on eBay, though they may be willing to negotiate if youre not too much of an irascible person. Their employees are generally courteous, helpful, & knowledgeable, though you may run into a few insouciant stragglers on occasion. Ive mainly bought guitar accessories from them, i.e, strings, cases, picks, pedals, etc, but i have purchased at least one Martin Stinger electric from them for a hard-to-beat price. In short, if you show up acting like youre the $#!7 with your eBay app open & index finger hovering over the Buy it now button for a drop shipped from China First Act discovery acoustic for 99 cents plus free shipping, youll be sorely disappointed when LMC refuses to price match. Just be realistic. If they dont have what youre looking for, politely let them know youll have to get it somewhere else; maybe that will inspire them to update inventories. If their prices are too rich for you, make an offer; but be willing to walk away if they refuse to budge. I give them 5 stars for being consistent over the years and not closing up after eBay went through puberty & took half the market share.
I just recently moved here from Richmond VA, I have been to lynchburg music center a number of times. Their customer service is absolutely horrible everytime I have been there. I went in today to get strings for my guitar and look at ukuleles and get information and possibly buy one. However standing there for 35mins waiting for someone to help me, while the guys working there talked about football and other things never asking if I needed help. So I put all my stuff back on the shelves and left. That is the second time I have put my stuff back and went somewhere else. Very dissapointed. Going to go to a ukulele shop in Richmond tomorrow instead.
Really helpful staff, reasonable prices
The guys at Lynchburg Music are top notch highly recommended.
Friendly service in the drum dept.
Great to work with. A+++++
Very good with customers and churches.
I always receive excellent service from Lynchburg Music! The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I had a follow musician come to town for a gig and somehow did not have bring his keyboard. He was able to go to Lynchburg Music to rent one and he also had an excellent experience. They saved the day! Keep up the great customer service.
