I love this store. They always have what Im looking for in terms of comic book related items as well as some pop culture items, i.e. Star Wars, Star Trek, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, etc. Have yet to find a better comic book shop in the surrounding region that is as well stocked and friendly as this place.
Used to really like this place a couple years ago when I used to go there. I had been out of Lynchburg for a little while for work and just started coming around again more recently. I just really dont like the set up anymore. The majority of the comics are behind the counter, meaning if you dont know exactly what youre looking for or its not the newest release you probably wont find anything. Maybe Im just too old fashioned but browsing is a large part of the enjoyment in going to a local shop rather than just buying online. Id like to be able to just look around and get ideas like I used to. I didnt mind the boxes in the floor at all like they used to have it set up, but now behind the counter, pfft, no thank you. However if youre just looking for novelty items, figurines, or items other than comics the inventory and pricing are very competitive. Just really not a fan of stashing away the comics.
Fantastic place. They have created a great experience for the shopper of comics, action figures, games and lot more. Great customer service.
Love this place! Place to buy gifts that my boyfriend loves! The staff is super knowledgeable!
I dont live in the area anymore. But I was delighted to find Star Port. Lets start by saying, for many many years there was no LCS in the Lynchburg area after the last two closed in the late 80s/early 90s. (The Treasure Chest and one whos name escapes me now but it was in the little strip where The Collectors Lair is currently located on Fort Ave). Now theres Untamed Worlds and Star Port. (The current Collectors Lair is like an overpriced flea market, the mom of the boys who used to run CL runs it now.) Both UT & SP are 1/2 comics and 1/2 other... Star Port seems heavier on other. Figures, toys, Funko, etc.....More modern age back issues. Some late bronze. They have some back issues, Id say maybe 20 long boxes? give or take. Their back issues remind me of some ones old collection in poly bags that are well into the degrading phase and need replaced. IMHO, pricing of their back issues are way out of proportion for the given condition the issues are in. Space is an issue, so the back issues are not located for casual browsing and the boxes are too stuffed to allow easy browsing.. . Staff is friendly and greet you when you enter. They do order a fairly wide selection of monthly titles so thats a plus. For years, after the newsstands closed (Peters Newstand anyone?) the only option to buy new comics was really online. I always try to be focal and buy local so when I do come in town, I browse and have bought a few things over the years. They have a great location in the mall. I think they just need more space but I suspect rent is a killer at the mall and you dont get rich selling comics unless youre MidTown or Mile High?
Nice and help workers that will help you find what you need.
Fun and Fantastic ...games, great books, life size posters stands. Really cool store...they have tables and wi-fi if yo want to sit and hang out too.
Very overpriced. Tried to make a deal on some damage box funko items and owner was not willing to work with me at all. Would take my business elsewhere
Great store, great service, very knowledgeable staff, well stocked with bronze to modern age comocs and other merchandice, not currently much silver age selection though.
Shame they are closing. Another local business to go. People wake up!
Nice place meh service
Friendly service and great merchandice!
You will be missed.
The worst comic book place so expensive.
