They are a total joke when it comes to buying and selling strained instruments. They offered me $120 for my cello. It is 8+ years old and worth over $4000. They didn’t even take it out of the case to examine. They didn’t even exam in the bow to see what type of bow it was. i’ve been in the Louisville string and Community for 15+ years and I’ve never seen an offer like that. I recommend no one attend this place for a string instruments. Don’t sell string instruments to them don’t buy string instruments from them. They are getting over on musicians to make a profit

Great selection on both name brand and non-name brand instruments. Not great customer service, however. Youre pretty much left to find what youre looking for to yourself.

They were wonderful. Excellent service, very friendly and knowledgeable, posted excellent pictures, and sold my husband a GORGEOUS guitar. My husband has been yearning for a David Mustaine In Deth We Trust guitar for awhile. I cant believe it managed to last more than a day in the store. I ended up buying a ukulele (that I dont know how to play yet) and had a great time while there.

I was interested in an item and Jason at MGR Louisville was more than happy to help out and give me all the details of the guitar I was wanting to get. We needed to purchase both a flute and violin. Watterson Elementary had this place listed as a reasonably priced seller for beginning musicians. We had a great salesman to guide us. He helped with our selection all the necessary add-on’s, which were available, affordable and durable! Since our purchase, we have returned a few times to pickup strings or resin. Always in stock, always fast service.

New to guitar. Went to Hurstbourne location. Wanted help finding the perfect fit since I have small hands. I know nothing about guitars so I asked for assistance. I was pointed to the acoustic section. I guess what was on his phone was more important. After I looked even more confused, the employee walked me over to section. He did actually teach me that there are 2 types of strings and how to tell which is which on a guitar.That was the end of it.Im going to have a friend go shopping with me next time. However I will NOT be going back to Merry Go Round Music. Thanks for nothing.

Worst service ever. Never been so disappointed with a music store. Their used products are REALLY used, and by that I mean theyre not even worth spending a penny on: they simply dont work.

Great guys! I think the amp tech from a former music store works here now. Hes a stellar fender amp guy who has done great work for me in the past. Theres a big selection here and theyll buy a lot of your stuff too. Obviously dont expect to make a buck, but if you tire of the Craigs/Facebook marketplace route and are in a hurry, this is the place in town for that.

Ive been going here for years at this point. Probably the best place in town for getting used musical gear, along with Guitar Emporium. Ive bought quite a few pedals, guitars, and amps from them over time, including a 73 Super Reverb, an Ibanez Les Paul Custom, and a Martin 000 acoustic. Always fantastic doing any kind of business with them.

I go here all the time for accessories or just to browse and the experience is always the same. Always helpful and knowledgeable without being overbearing. They always answer questions without making you feel like you don’t belong there. Believe me, most music stores treat people like that. Traded in a guitar once and they gave me exactly the percentage they quoted based on what they resold it for so you know they shoot straight. If you are looking to get started these guys are the best.

Always friendly, makes deals (especially if within $25-$30 is the price difference). Always has general/basic guitar utils like strings, picks, cords, etc. True to the name different instruments really Goes Round, within days to a couple weeks, new & used guitars, amps, & other equipment shows up, and vastly change in a couple weeks later. Im indorsed by Dunlop and DAddario, but I havent renewed with them for another year, so Ill get my picks & strings there again (after 7 years of 10 sets of strings and 60 picks a month for free. Because they never fail to be out of the most popular strings & picks and get new stuff in as fast as Guitar Center & theyre basically the best music store in the Louisville area. They also help you track things down on the internet or suggest another store. You never know what gem you might find there!

Good prices, and helpful staff that will work with you to get what you need at a good price. However, I would not recommend selling gear to them unless youre desperate for cash and prepared to accept a fraction of what you could get elsewhere. But, it is fast cash. If youre desperate.

They have a lot of stuff at a decent price just not that much stuff that I am interested in. I saw a bass amp online that was impossible to find in the store. Its possible that it was located in a storage area but nobody asked to help and I was in the store a long time.

They sell products that dont work. My band and I had attempted reaching out countless times, but after the first time they read my email saying it was broken, went on to completely ignore every other try. They have absolutely AWFUL service and no band or musician should have to deal with losing large amounts of money to such an unreliable company and its moronic employees.

I went to Music Merry-Go-Round on Jan 28, 2019 to trade in my guitar at the Louisville location.The drive from my house was around 45 minutes to the store. I felt confident that the folks at the store would give me a good deal on my used guitar. I waited for my turn while other customers were serviced. Then, when my turn came up I told the employee about my trade. He told me that I had to wait so, I took a seat next the counter on a stool while he assisted other customers promptly. I asked another employee about my trade and he told me it will take up to 20 minutes before he could help me. The two employees couldn’t even take a short look at my guitar. I decided to leave the store after around 30 minutes. I wanted to purchase a used portable amp and two other items but I decided not to.This was not my first time at the store and usually they provide me with prompt- courteous service but that day was different. I hope people who were recommended by me to visit the store receive a pleasant experience.

Bought a guitar online from them for quite a steal for a mim strat. The guitar arrived in a safe and timely manner. There was a small crack on the pick guard that they missed in the initial checkup and they instantly shipped me a brand new one for free when I mentioned it. Will be coming back in the future for my guitar needs!

Maybe its just me, but everything in there looks and feels dusty. I realize its old used gear, but still feels life everything would benefit from a cleaning. Everyone is really friendly and helpful, however the several times Ive been I havent found the selection to be that great. But hey, they might have what youre looking for!

Bought a mackie cfx12 mixer in good excellent and it came broken. it turned on and got signal from the main fader but no sound went through to the speakers. i called and they said there manager would call me back and they never did and after calling another 10 times over the last few months they have completely ignored my calls and emails and won’t respond. huge set back for my band would never want to support these people and never buying from here again

Loved the experience. I am going through a tough time and decided to relearn an instrument that I hadnt played in years. It was my first time stopping in. The staff, specifically Jason, were very helpful. He showed me the instrument, explained the set up, and offered me a room to test it out. I found one, tried it out, and left the story happy.This store is used instruments only but they test and evaluate all of the instruments they receive to make sure they are in good condition for resell. This is what made me feel confident in my purchase.Wish me luck as I went from 1st chair and part of a jazz band... to becoming a beginner!!

Huge used instrument store. I went in looking for a guitar and had a price point in mind. They helped me find the perfect guitar for me at almost half that price. Very knowledgeable and not at all pushy. They want you to find the right instrument for you at an affordable price.

I go here a good bit. Have bought a few items, an amp, a guitar, a few pedals. Staff is really friendly, knowledgeable and does not hover, which is awesome for guitar shop. Prices are reasonable used prices, and you get 7 day return if it doesnt work right. You can find good deals here if you look often enough.

Awesome place to do business. My son was able to buy a guitar cabinet here and has been so pleased with it. More than that, the staff were super friendly both on the phone as well as in person. There are plenty of different kinds of instruments, products, equipment... anything a musician or sound tech could hope for. Of course the equipment is used, but the prices are great and the quality is awesome too. We will be back, for sure.

Most of the gear here is used, which is great, but also means you may or may not find what youre looking for. Prices are good, but the selection didnt blow me away. For gadgets and accessories, they had a lot of random goodies, and their prices were good.

Went here today and bought a good used Yamaha drum set for a great price. This place is a musicians paradise. I dealt with Pat when checking out and he even helped me load the drums up in my car. Super friendly staff, and amazing prices. I highly recommend this place!

Music Go Round is an easy going, well stocked instrument shop. The guys working are so pleasant and friendly, you will want to stop by often.Come by and play anything they have. In fact its encouraged! The prices on new and used instruments are the best in town. Tons of accessories and even music lessons! Im in there so much you will think I work there!

This past Saturday night I had a gig, and when I started to unload my equipment from my vehicle I discovered that the top tier of my keyboard stand had broken. Without it I would not be able to set-up or use my synth. I immediately called Music-Go-Round to see it they could help me and if they had something that would work for me. They said they did. BUT... the store was only open for another 15 minutes, and I was 20 minutes away. I told them this was an emergency, and could they please wait the extra 5 minutes for me to get there.I was promptly told No, sorry. Seriously?! You cant stay open an extra 5-10 minutes to help out a local musician and make a sale?I had to drive all the way to St. Matthews, to GUITAR CENTER, where they were WONDERFUL help. They even helped me assemble the new stand together in the store so I wouldnt have to do it back at the gig.The only reason this review even has 1-star is thats the lowest I could pick. Music-Go-Round will never get a dime of my money.

This place is great. The staff are super nice and helpful. They also give you a surprisingly decent figure for trade ins, and their prices for used gear are extremely fair - which is awesome because that means a good rotation of gear in and out. Never know what youll find there, and that only makes you want to stop in more often. Cool spot.

Hands down one of the best music stores, I never leave without something and I’m here at least once a week. The staff is beyond helpful and make you feel like family when you come in. In my opinion they are very fair in my opinion on trades ( keeping in mind that your selling used equipment that they have to turn a profit on later, and just bc it’s sentimental doesn’t mean it’s worth it for them to make the investment). Went to this store to sell some extra musical equipment we had stored at the house. I would have to give them 4 or 5 stars for selection. There was a big problem though. Most of what they have for sale is in very used condition but they are charging almost new prices for and they GREATLY low-ball pricing to sell them your instruments. I will not be going here again.

Doug, Jason and the rest of the crew have the best deals on used instruments ANYWHERE. Picked up my PDP by Drum Workshop drum kit for 225 and theyre 700 to 800 used everywhere else. Mesa Dual Rectifier $700, 1400 elsewhere. Warranty could be better, but gear gets abused so I understand the risk and short warranty. But if I cant blow it up in 7 days, its pretty tough I think.

Been going to this place for years. Even before they moved locations. Their staff is knowledgeable, and even if they dont know a thing, they can point you to someone who does. obviously they deal is used equipment, so if they dont have a thing that you want maybe wait a week and they might. Never had a bad experience here.

Hope an item of yours thats stolen never gets sold to this store. That happened to me, and the store would give me no information at all. They didnt seem to care or want to help. Please dont buy from this store, or give them any business. This wasnt a cheap guitar either. This was a very rare, and special guitar, but what do they care. They had sold it and go their money.Update: This fine establishment has still offered not help as of 06/10/2020. Please do not buy from a store that deals in stolen property, and then threatens the person with lawyers for tying to get their guitar back.

I love this place. Not sure why the theft of an instrument is the fault of the store.... by that reasoning all pawn shops are evil. Regardless, as a musician and parent of a musician, I am glad to have a local place to trade in and obtain different equipment. WAY better trade in value than a Guitar Center type store.

Lot of used equipment.

A very rare guitar was stolen from me and sold to this store. Ive followed the legal process to get this guitar back. They would offer me no help at all when I initially called. After that I had not choice but go the legal route. They still wont provide information on who the guitar was sold to so something can be worked out. We have to subpoena them for this information. Ive provided documentation proving its mine, and they still wont. I hope no one ever has to deal with this store if a stolen item of yours is sold to them. So sad theyre treating it this way.So here is a heads up to future customers. Most likely this will be deleted before its even read, but at least I tried to warn others of this store.
