Great ambiance, friendly and attentive staff. Outdoor seating is pretty great for the restaurant being in a business corporate building. More importantly, the food was just fantastic. Reasonably priced, too. Im definitely coming back here.
It was my first time here and we came for the Mothers Day special menu. $69 for a pre-picked menu for adults and $29 for the same pre-picked menu for my child who is 12 and under. So the appetizers were the best part of our experience. I had the tomato soup and it was my favorite part of the whole night! My Mom had the artichoke salad which she enjoyed and my son had the meatballs which he also really enjoyed. Then we got our entrees. I got the sole with a side of asparagus, my Mom got the bowtie salmon alfredo and my son got the meat lasagna. So I rate my entree 3 stars. The sole was swimming in butter that had somehow already hardened when it got to me. The asparagus would have been beautiful if it was just cooked with some salt and pepper. It came drenched in Jack cheese, which sounds delicious but it was lacking flavor for me. So I ate it but would not order it again. My mom had a similar experience with her entree, she said it lacked flavor and felt super fatty at the same time. My son did not like the lasagna at all and we had to send it back and thankfully they gave us more meatballs (my Mom and I each tried a tiny bite of the lasagna and it did have a weird flavor that I couldnt put my finger on. The after taste was the nail in the coffin, so there was merit behind him sending it back) and lastly the dessert I would give 4 stars. I ordered a chocolate flourless tarte covered in powdered sugar which was quite delightful. My mom and son each ordered the lemon cheesecake with strawberry drizzle sauce and there again, was a weird aftertaste when eating the cheesecake. Overall, the experience was super pleasant. The waiter and hostess could not have been nicer! The hostess made it a point to stop and char with my son which he enjoyed and she even offered to take pictures of all of us which was super sweet of her.Final take: I wish I would have ordered the lamb chops for the main entree because the woman next to me enjoyed them so loudly that I was super jealous. Lol!I would try this again on a night where the menu was not limited to give a true review. But for tonight, this is how I felt.
My partners veggie pizza (for $25) was very inadequate -- tasteless, minimal vegetables, altogether unsatisfactory. The service was also pretty minimal, with a somewhat supercilious waiter who we barely saw after our food was delivered. And my drink was probably the most anemic Arnold Palmer Ive ever had -- very pale, hardly any taste, barely better than ice water. We did have an excellent appetizer and a good dessert, but at the end of the day wed spent over $120 for a mediocre meal. The ambiance was nice (outdoor patio), but that didnt make up for our overall disappointment with the whole experience.
Authentic.!! Just amazing.. So tasty. So good. Service excellent. You might just see us back again. Worth every bite. They have it down. Service excellent.
The staff were friendly. The atmosphere and food were amazing! Definitely a hidden gem in the city. Will definitely go back.
Update: 7/12/19Came with a group of friends to try their dinner menu for Dine LA. Wonderful!!! Food was delicious as always. We had the Calamari, burrata with prosciutto, lamb chops with sautéed veggies, salmon with Prosecco /peppercorn sauce with sautéed veggies, apple cake with vanilla sauce, fresh berries and vanilla ice cream. Will need to come back and try other menu items! We come here often not only for the delicious foods and desserts but the wonderful hostess, Lucy, and waiters. They always greet us with a warm smile and make us feel like we are part of their family. The chef, Gaetano, is a master at his craft. He prepares dishes with great flavor and presentation. We havent tasted a dish we didnt like. We look forward to his next creation!
Beautiful outdoor dining. Wonderful food and excellent service. The best calamari I have ever had!
So we went tonight to see what the whole fuss was all about. Lucky, were lucky. Cozy, packed, polite, and great food, of course. Thats old news, though. There are a lot of 5 star ratings for this spot. Im just confirming the obvious thing.
So...The nourishment is wonderful and the office is acceptable, but what places the incredible end is the superb help. The experience started with the tasty thin bread pieces and continued with tasty fried octopus and homemade pasta with black truffles.
Lovely setting and best chicken Piccata I have ever had
For me the food was not worth the price
Biggest patio to dine in West LA. Romantic waterfall setting and spacious outdoor dining. Safe and delicious overall. Great array of drinks. Always lovely to come.
Beautiful setting.Service was amazing. Barolo is great. Portions were huge. Restaurant is very clean. Dishes yabe perfect blance of flavors.
Love this spot! Its cozy and intimate, great for a romantic dinner. Homemade pasta is dreamy and staff is super friendly :)
The pizza here is really good! Nice and crunchy crust but doesnt fall apart.
I favored the decoration. Like you were at a buddys house feeding. The Filipino dishes were beautifully organized.
Good food
My my my these dishes look outstanding and delicious
Great outdoor area and the food is as good as ever
Great food at a great priceWonderful evening with fantastic service
Great food, great staff, great service!
We hosted our law firm holiday party at IL Moro, although its been months ago our lawyers and staff still share the memorable afternoon/evening. Lucy was amazing in making sure all logistics where perfect! So beautiful, elegant and excellent food and drinks - what more can we ask for? Lucy, we will be back this December! Ciao!
Celebrating birthday but also frequent diner. Food options are perfect. Excellent preparation and presentation. Chicken, lamb chops, fish my favorites. Balsamic for bread dipping is the best. Make reservations. Usually plenty of street parking.
I regularly come by buying some food in here. I love the rapid service and well prepared dishes. Never disappointing.
Extremely is very nice place. Great wine selection, friendly staff. Food menu is awesome.
Great menu!!! Beautiful interior and exterior seating areas. Great location for large parties and special events.
Great for the business lunch, and awesome for dinner. The artichoke salad is a tradition. Try a pizza for an appetizer. It is the thinnest crust in town. Just amazing. My Go To spot for an important lunch.
11/27/2014Had Thanksgiving day dinner there this year. Very pleasant environment, helpful and friendly wait staff, one of the worst, most overpriced meals Ive had in months - and in my travels Ive had to eat in some pretty marginal places. Everything - the soup, the turkey, the gravy, the spinach - even the bread and the olive oil - in fact, everything but the dessert would have been five times better at Dennys at one-fifth the price. And $48 dollars for a bottle of watery purple stuff I hesitate to call wine that would have been put to shame by any six dollar bottle from Trader Joes? Even the coffee was awful. Apparently a restaurant that caters to people too uninformed to know the difference and too rich to care.Note to the chef: Go out and buy a new Fanny Farmer cookbook. Its not 1950 anymore.P.S. The bathroom was nice and clean.
Best Italian in tow. Cant go wrong
Lunch at Il Moro on a sunny day so we sat outside. It was freezing as the buildings close by create a lot of wind. Inside looks very dull from the moment you step inside the restaurant, walk through the bar and into the dining area. The decor lacks warmth, friendliness or imagination. Poor lighting seemed to add to the drab feeling of the place. That said the food was excellent especially the Marguerita pizza, was one of the best I had eaten in a long long time. We asked the waiter for a little pesto for the pizza and were disappointed to see a charge of $6 on the menu despite spending over $200 for lunch. The calamari, watercress salad, the breads were all excellent. The only disappointing dish was the egg plant and mozzarella. It was a tiny portion and should have been half the price. The wines are too expensive but the service is friendly and professional. All in all a good restaurant but I would only go back if I happened to be close by. I would not cross the city just to dine there.
Relatively quiet, simple good food that u can count on. Its not fine, or fancy cuisine, but very good and reliable grilled fish, vegetables, poke and service.
Stop #179 for @pizzas365: Il Moro Restaurant has a somewhat expensive, but overall pretty decent and fresh pizza. The spicy salami is a pretty good choice here. 3.6 Stars.
Delicious food, good wine list, delightful service, comfortable ambience and you can hear each other. Somewhat pricey but worth it for a great date.
This place never disappoints. Great food and great service.
Solid Italian place. A little bit pricey, but we really enjoy how it looks, serving and dish choice. Plenty of street parking, and also alternating valet or garage.
Fine food presented by friendly staff in a lovely atmosphere. had terrific fish last time. For locals, check out the happy hour with the best free appetizers around.
Had the good fortune to dine here recently while they played host to a guest chef from an amazing restaurant on the Amalfi Coast of Italy, and the experience really amplified my appreciation for how authentic and how incredible the Italian food is here. Ive been twice before - both times stellar - and am convinced that this is a real gem in LA. The owner Elio is instantly likable if you get the chance to meet him - warm, friendly, entertaining - and the staff follows his lead, with smart recommendations and a solid handle on what the kitchen has to offer. The tasting menu we had may not represent the usual fare, given the guest chef, but each time Ive been Ive left overfull and happy, with some of the best Italian cooking I can remember. The location itself is pricier, but totally worth it, and I wouldnt call it romantic as much as Id say its the perfect kind of place for a big meal with great food, great friends, and great wine.Off my fond memories and full stomach, all I can say is that youve got to give it a try.
One of my favorite places to eat and have a great time.Truly recommend IL Moro Rest. if you enjoy and love tasty food.
First time in the restaurant. Very impressed. I will both recommend it as well as be a repeat patron.
Had a 3 course meal there delicious very good service
Great pasta (I had the bolognese). Decor is also nice.
Awesome food! Staff really nice. Great place to celebrate special occasions.
Love the food and the people. Great service!
Too expensive for a salad with three tiny shrimp.
Truly a great night wonderful food from a great menu, beautiful art work surrounding you and a staff who cater to you.
Delicious and authentic Italian we really enjoyed everything specially their homemade pasta!
Took clients there for a business lunch. A little spendy, but very good food, very good, attentive service, and the atmosphere was just right for talking business.
This restaurant is just not as good as it once was. The pasta servings have gone from medium to small for the same or higher price. Service is still fantastic however the entrees are not up to par.
Great service and amazing food. Each time I go I have a good experience.
Delicious food and excellent customer service authentic Italian food ciao
Elegant and modern with nicely spaced tables, good food and excellent service makes a very nice dining experience.
Good food great service!
This pretty traditional Italian restaurant doesnt disappoint.
Fantastic food and experience what great service
Great lunch... delicious Sole
Fantastic food. Ideal for lunch meeting or social visit
Nice outdoor patio great food
A treasure of an urban office building restaurant if only because of the little waterway that runs through the courtyard and also the excellent, if very pricey, Italian dishes
Very good food, ok service (private party)
Delicious food, ambience, couteous and professional service
Superb food, desert and service
Good food good service!
I think Ive driven by this place a thousand times and never noticed it. I finally had a chance to give it a try, based on a glowing recommendation from a close friend. My first impression was that it looked like a restaurant youd find in a hotel. The decor is somewhat dated and understated, but the place is clean. I was there on a Saturday night during dinner hours, and it seemed like most of the guests were in their 70s or 80s.However, from the moment our waitress greeted us, the service was top-notch. And that can make all the difference in a restaurant like this. The menu has lots of great options. We started with a glass of the Malbec, which took some time to open up, but was great once it did. And it paired perfectly were the incredible aged balsamic they serve for dipping bread. But the bread itself seemed like an afterthought. There is nothing special about it, and it doesnt taste homemade. For appetizers we decided to share the Portobello e Cannellini (portobello mushroom with Cannellini beans). The mushroom was very earthy, but the Cannellini beans did not have much flavor. This was my least favorite dish of the evening. We also had the Polipo Alla Brace (grilled octopus on chick pea pure), which was fantastic. The octopus was so tender, not chewy at all.For our entrees we shared the Pizza Parmiggiana (rolled eggplant, mozzarella, basil). It was amazing!! The pizza dough is thick and a little chewy, which I love. The the crust was perfect for dipping in the balsamic. In fact, I would prefer it if they served a bread made out of the pizza dough as their bread basket, for dipping in the balsamic and olive oil.We also shared the Ravioli do Pollo (homemade pasta stuffed with chicken). For this dish the pasta was cooked to perfection, but the chicken inside was dry and overcooked.Based on this meal, I will come back to try some of the other dishes on the menu.
Great food, great atmosphere
Happy hour review onlyBuy 1 drink and get a buffet of appetizers for free. Their drinks are VERY strong. VERY. On one occasion, I had to stop by a random parking lot to hurl my brains out :( Well maybe because I was not the dd and therefore my friends forced me to drink their drinks. Asians, take your pepcid 30 minutes before you come to prevent that Asian glow!Anyways, so the appetizers have changed everytime we came. I used to frequent this place a lot but not recently. I remember eating sashimi, bruschetta, meatballs, caprese.. basically good appetizers but not a place to leave full. The atmosphere is sophisticated. The service is amazing. Weve stayed there for 3 hours before. Instead of kicking us out, the staff gave us complimentary calamari. haha I believe they have a mixologist at the bar who is able to customize your drink to your liking :)$12 for a drink + appetizer buffet = good deal!
I love this place because it has the best pizza, spaghetti, Italian flan, calamari, and cheese cake.
Good prices on great food and a great happy hour. I always leave wanting to return!
Very nice. Park next door!
Yes, you will be making a great discussion.
Beautiful place to eat and drink
It missed something I cant remember the taste
Good but not amazing for the heavy price tag.
Tons of heat lamps on the back patio . . . seriously, heat lamps out number people 2 to 1!
Good food and large daily options
Quality of food has certainly suffered since deprture of the previous chef.
Very classy restaurant for the grown & sexy
Delicious food but expensive and small plates
Good food and ambiance!
Berry good
Taco Tuesdays are awesome
Food was over rated, but service was great!
