I have been getting anxious about the parts coming in and it just sucks everything is backed up I guess it is normal to wait 12 + days for a part to come just hope it wont take much longer because I have family here from Washington whom I planned road trip, hopefully I can still do that since I only see them once every 3 years. This was the first for me to actually having to order new parts, I will keep this in mind in the future so I can explain it to my folks a little better on the reason of the delay. Customer service has been good so far and knowing what I know now . I would definitely come to this place again. Sorry for bugging you so much Alex I am sure you wont let me down.
Motorcycle Performance has been working on my motorcycles for years, We have never been unsatisfied. Very important when its time to ride 🙂.
Alex and coworkers are like a family. Expert mechanics and willing to spend the time to make sure you learn along the way how to best tune and treat your bike. A lot can be learned from Alex on and off the track
Never been but after the reviews of Alex its a must that I go take my bike to get checked out there I will be there today
I do plenty of my own work on older bikes. Nonetheless, I still try to find professionals who REALLY have a handle on repair and understanding of bikes. This guy knows his stuff, has extensive experience, and takes the time to explain things in detail. He’s transparent and efficient. Quality motorcycle mechanics are fewer by the day, but this certainly is one.
The owner is such a good guy at heart .very nice man
Fantastic service. After getting the run around from my insurance I found these guys a few miles away while I had a flat on the 110. Seriously, if youve never sat on a concrete divide for 3 hours do yourself a favor and dont try it. After assuring 3 police officers I was fine and a tow truck was on the way, turns out it wasnt, the owner stayed late to have his guy pick me up and bring my R1 to the shop.To top it off, both the tow and the patch cost me less than $200 during rush hour and I spent less time with them than I spent on the phone with my insurance.
Been taking my Busa there for a number of yrs now. Quality work and very knowledgeable on all aspects of motorcycles...
Alex and team are a good business. Alex is a talker, in a good way though but has always come through for me. In a day where these shops are dropping like flies and even the stealerships are far and few between its a good local place for me. I mainly use them for tire service and have yet to be disappointed 👍
Service was outstanding! They had me in and out fast while doing an excellent job on my bike.
Loyalty means nothing to this business. I’ve spent close to $5k in the last few months alone (no insurance assistance that was all my hard earned money). It’s not this shops fault I needed so much work on my bike, but my most recent interaction with them was the last straw for me. After dropping almost $1300 On some repairs, I get the bike back and ride it home. The next day I go to put my key in and it isn’t going in. The little metal door was jammed or something. Eventually i was able to get my key in the ignition (Sort of) but there was a little metal piece that fell in. So I call the shop to see if they had and trouble with the key because I never have before. They said they didn’t and I asked how much to have someone come take a look and the they said the starting price would be $250 even though I literally just forked over $1300 like a day ago. They are a business and they need money to function but to charge me $250 right after a repair to come to my house that’s very close by 2.1 miles away (which they knew because they have picked the bike up many times) was outrageous to me. I called a locksmith and gave him my business for $165. I have an old 2008 Yamaha R1 the amount of money I’ve spent at this shop is more than the bikes worth. This shop knows my frustration with them. I could on and on about all my problems but I’ve always wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. It’s a black owned business and I wanted to support my people but they’re are never punctual and they don’t understand customer loyalty I guess. Alex the owner is very knowledgeable but talks to you like you’re an idiot. Which is frustrating and annoying. I wish you the best of luck MPS but you will no longer be getting any business from me.
Great people at this shop. Matt and Alex were very helpful and took time to explain things for me. My battery died and I needed to replace it & luckily they had one in stock ready to go. Being a novice I felt welcome and appreciated the laid back vibe of the place. In happy to support this small business serving the community.
This shop was the worse mechanic Ive ever been to.I had to go there 3 times to fix the same problem (leaking air from the tire) and they wasnt able to do this. I asked for a refund since the job wasnt done and they just refund me partially after arguing a lot.And I have the seal of the wheel smashed because when they assembled the wheel they didnt do it properly, they said that this wasnt their fault because it is impossible to assemble the wheel in a wrong way. I lost almost 300 dollars because I will have to fix the seal. Please DONT GO TO THIS MECHANIC. Ill NEVER comeback there.
These guys were awesome. Woke up to a flat tire Saturday morning, brought it in by mid day, and they had me riding home before close. Affordable and great service 👍
I got a flat at 5:30 on a Friday afternoon and had planned to be out of town all weekend. I called in a panic: I couldn’t change the tire, I couldn’t move my bike, and I didn’t want to leave it on the curb for three days.Alex went out of his way to pick up my bike *after* he closed the shop on Friday night, fixed the flat on Saturday morning, and stored my bike until I could pick it up on Tuesday.Unbeatable service, reasonable prices, great staff.I highly recommend MPS!!!
Very accommodating and honest.. Final invoice was a little less then the preliminary estimate.
Update: After a comment from the owner’s secretary. I figured it would be important for me to respond.I work in sales, so I understand the importance of online reviews and how it drives consumer use of products and services. First of all I am not a millennial... had you used any other definition to describe me I might have just moved about my day. However, as I am sure they meant poorly by it, I will not let that comment stand. I am not of the age for that demographic nor am I aligned with their values. In fact I am United States Service member who has put in more energy and sacrifice than most from that line of definition. The bottom line is when I pay for a service to be completed and it is not, I expect the non provider of that service to have some customer service to say, we couldn’t help you, have a nice day and we hope to provide you service down the road. Not charge me for their own profit on work not provided. Even if they went so “out of their way” to let me ride the broken bike in and they make a couple calls for a part. Whatever comment is to proceed this update does not matter, what matters is that I am a customer who was done wrong by this company. Oh, and check out the attached picture to show they are lying, a quote was made for $120 and not $500 so there they go already establishing their rebuttals with a lie. And the pure fact that you would attack a customer and service member over a review is petty and I am ashamed of you and your company.I have also attached a photo of that part and its price they wanted to charge to replace. It’s $2.50 to order. Please see other reviews saying they were grossly overpriced.DISCLAIMER:I have a huge respect for millennials and the next generation of this country.Even if I was a millennial, I would say that even they have better connection to reality than these people who charged for me to park a bike at their shop for a couple hours. Shame on you for discounting an entire generation of customers. If I was a millennial, after that comment, I would never use your service.—————————————————————Brought my bike in for a simple o ring repair on the fuel line. Would have taken most mechanics 15-20 min but he he did not have the part nor could he get it quickly so he suggested I make a $500 repair instead since the part was not local. Once I told him I would tow the bike using my insurance he refused to release the bike if I did not pay full price for an hour of work. Even though no service was performed and the bike was not repaired. I offered to pay half an hour for the couple phone calls he made but he still refused. I ended up paying the hour because I honestly didn’t trust him to not mess with the bike before the pick up was made by my insurance company.
Alex is honest, informative and really into motorcycles. Good work. Good culture. A well-run small business and the place to bring your bikes!
Took a bike i just bought to have it checked over and estimated today. Alex was extremely helpful, insightful and knowledgable about my 1995 bike. He spent a lot of time with me consulting and sharing his thoughts on potential fix ups. This man knows his stuff and i will gladly take all my current and future bikes to him.
These guys are fantastic and their service was above and beyond.
Amazing people, amazing service. Really went out of their way to help me out. Very highly recommended. Thanks again Alex!
Discovered this great shop by recommendation from my roommate. Alex the owner is an awesome knowledgeable guy that loves to talk about bikes and let you know how to take care of your baby and why you should do good maintenance. All of the other people are wonderful too, last time when my bike broke down because my clutch lever popped loose, I had to leave it stranded at UCLA and for a fair charge they went and picked it up for me with their truck without me even being there. Wonderful service to help their customers out like that.
Alex was of tremendous help and is very knowledgeable. I absolutely would come back for all of my Ducati needs!
I brought my bike in for service. The owner was very knowledgeable and courteous. I dropped it off at 9 am and was contacted by 1pm. I got new tires and a mini checkup. The price was affordable. I would reccomend this shop for simple repairs to anyone wanting fast and friendly service.
The other day I found a small screw in my rear tire while pulled over on the shoulder of the freeway. I rode it straight home (from surface streets, I was that scared.) Let the bike sit overnight and I confirmed by taking the psi that it wasnt leaking any air. I was scared to pull it out myself so I took it to the shop I recently got an oil change and chain cleaning at.Its called Motorcycle Performance Services and theyre at 1338 S. La Brea. So I went in wanting to just patch the thing since it still had a good amount of life and I dont have the tools to be able to patch it from the inside. They said theyd do it for $75 which I thought was pretty steep, but I had nothing else I could do.Upon finishing the patch, the shop owner comes out to tell me they found another nail literally 8 inches away from the one I found. I looked over the tires several times after finding this first one and me or my father wouldve seen it. So I ask the shop owner to show me the second nail and he neglected to. The hole was fairly large compared to most nail punctures and feel it was an intentional act.I was forced into spending $240 for a new Michelin Pilot Power (which retail for $130) as I dont own a truck to be able to get the bike out of his shop. He also refused to patch it twice due to liability. I could understand that though, I dont agree 100% with patches and never will I agree to riding on a bike with two. Twice the odds for one to give way.I think everybody should stay away from this shop. There are plenty of better ones out there.
Have been taking my bike to Alex for years. Moved to South bay and tried a couple other spots. Best mechanic and quality of service Ive found in LA.
Ive been taking my 2015 Kawasaki Vulcan over to Alex and his crew since my very first oil change 2 years ago. He has coached me on proper motorcycle care & maintenance, and has patiently followed up each time I have visited. This has been invaluable as this is my very first motorcycle.Im beyond grateful that are located just a short distance from my place, as Ive had several instances over the past two years that I have had to drop off my bike for emergency or last minute repairs. One time my motorcycle just cut off at a red light in West Los Angeles & I called Alex to see what I should do. Thankfully it was a lighter day for them, so he was able to come tow me back to his shop for a very reasonable fee. It was a simple repair & he had me back on the road good as new just a few hours later.I cannot recommend these guys highly enough, they are masters of their craft & truly go above & beyond.
Love this place the service is great and for some reason everytime I go in I come out with a bit of more motorcycle knowledge the manager there is dripping with helpful information these guys always help me out with quick service
These folks have done a great job with my 2012 Ninja 250 every time Ive brought it in. They are fast and efficient and I have had no complaints about the workmanship, it feels like a new bike every time I get it back :)Theyve been letting me stash my gear there while my bike is laid up too which is a real nice perk.Mr. White gives great advice and has definitely improved my riding style. He knows the sport and the business. His office manager is also phenomenal, and everyone else seems nice too I just havent met them. His dog is the most chillin Shepherd I have ever met, also.
Courteous, professional, and up front about work and cost. Busy place during the summer, try to plan ahead a few weeks and make an appointment.
Overall and TL;DR: Great shop, great people, great work and great experience.Took my 2013 Suzuki SFV650 Gladius here today to get a new rear tire replaced and mounted after picking up a puncture the other day.I called up the shop at 9 AM and they said the boss wasnt in yet but I should call back in 10-15 minutes. Gave them a call back and spoke with Alex, the boss. Asked him how much it was to get a tire installed and he quoted me within minutes. I also asked if they had time to fit me into today and they said, the earlier I could get it there, the better. After arranging a towing service to get the bike there, I got it to them by 10:30. They looked at the bike and along with replacing the tire, the suggested a chain clean and lube as well as aligning the clutch pedal, which I had bent in a minor accident. They didnt have to offer anything but went above and beyond to look out for the well being of the bike. After everything was squared away, they said it would be about an hour to get everything done. After spending some time working at a nearby cafe the called exactly when they said they would and that the bike was ready to go.Everyone that worked there was extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the machines theyre working on. I didnt have time to ask, I was in a rush, if they do general maintenance on Suzuki bikes because I would definitely bring my bike here to get work done. Will definitely have to follow up with them again.
Thay help alot great customer service
Brought my drz for a complete top end rebuild. Alex was extremely patient and professional, his staff is incredibly talented, they got me the best price they could and did an amazing job. Highly recommended!
Nice little shop.I got both my tires mounted and balanced for $140.22 (I brought my own tires). I cant tell if that is good price (seemed good to me). They said they were busy on Friday but if I were to be able to bring it early that day they MIGHT be able to get it done by the end of the day, if not then monday for sure. I decided to take that chance.I brought the tires and bike Thursday around 5:30pm and they were able to get it done Friday at 4pm. Not bad, seeing that they werent sure if they had enough time to get it done on time because of all the other bikes they were working on.The tires were mounted properly (they were not mounted backwards) and were in fact balanced (used black sticky weights with extra sticky compound)Seems like most of the mechanics there are motorcycle enthusiast. The owner do track days time to time, so he seems to know and care about motorcycles in general.Note: the entrance is on the Bronson side of the corner.
Stay away from this place I took my R1 because it was turning off by its self well they say its was this this and that they charged me $500+ The Bike was good for like 3 days and then same thing started to happens. I was so mad cuz I used my bike to go to work everyday and they will keep your bike for 3 to 4 days to fix it so imagine taking your bike all the time for 3 days ? I just went to dealer and got new bike STAY AWAY !!
Took my 1200 Bandit in for fork spring replacement, oil change, replacement petcock and a Stage 2 carb job. Alex is very plausible, However the mechanics working on the bikes in the back....the worst experience Ive had letting someone else work on my bikes. He charged me over $120 for the petcock, a $25 part because he claims he wants to support local dealers by not using online sites. BS. Had less than 50 miles on it when the oil feed pipe to the head leaked all over me and the bike at freeway speeds. If I hadnt been as experienced in riding, the bike would have killed me with the entire back end covered in hot oil. This is the pipe they had to remove to do the jet kit but they denied all responsibility. Two days after they patronizingly repaired it, something inside the crankcase, again at freeway speeds, seized the crank, making a hole in the casings. I went back to get my old parts from the store and Alexs comment of That bike really doesnt like someone ... really??? Yeah Alex, it doesnt like the last idiot mechanic who worked on it and caused the oil pipe to leak because he didnt tighten up the banjo bolts and all of a sudden it seizes so badly that theres a 2 inch hole in the crankcase with the main bearings poking through so that I need a new motor!!! Coincidence? Not likely, just crappy work. And this is supposed to be the best non-dealership shop in L.A.? I spend over a grand to have my bike seized by shoddy work and they offered nothing but hassle and a blown motor. What an expensive joke this place is.
Great place. Ive been going there for ten yrs now. Alex and the crew know everything about bikes. Thanks for all your help and honest advice
Precise service with a humble feel. They always are receptive to the amateur or novices questions and concerns.
Poor knowledge about motorcycle
Extremely expensive service. 150$ to replace 2 wheels
Great experience. they even charged me less then what was quoted when i first dropped bike off. Will def use again. Very knowledgeable about all things racing..
I really think that it wasnt a good shop to take my bike to. One day they can fix it and 2 months later they cant. Now want to drop the ball. Making excuses. Its a shameful business that cant really man up to their words. Bless
The staff at MPS took care of me. Everyone was professional and knowledgeable. The dealer wanted astronomical prices to service my Aprilia RSV4. The owner did it for a fraction of the cost, on time and correctly. I take all of my street bikes, track bikes and dirt bikes to him now. I strongly recommend this shop to all my friends.
Great crew very helpful and reasonable prices.
Been going here for about 15years, best local shop in LA!!! The owner is an expert in all motorcycle related matters and will Only give it to you straight, it might be something you dont wanna hear but in the long run he only wants whats best for everyone.
Great shop, got my GSX-R dialed in, would definitely recommend!
Crooks. Owner overcharges for everything. Got sold a yuasa battery that was completely dead when i took it home. Obviously was salvage but represented as brand new. Forced me to go back multiple times so they could charge the battery. Owner didnt even have the decency to lie to me and tell me they were reordering it. Would not give me my money back.
Wow, just called to get a quote and a woman who didnt know what she was talking about was super rude. Super pumped.
Alex is the best and most knowledgeable motorcycle man I have ever met. I have SERIOUS trust issues with mechanics but Alex has my trust and earned it over the last 7 years. They have worked on, repaired and modifieid 3 different superbikes I have owned with never a miss-step. He always lands on his quotes and gets the bike out on time. Alex is not just a shop owner or repair man, he is a dominant professional motorcycle racer as well, so his knowledge and R&D stem from the track with YEARS of experience. Not to mention great and truthful service (they tell you like it is and give honest opinions). My last mod he did on my 05 GSX-R 1000 (Godzilla) was EPIC!! Brembo M.C. with Galfer SBBL, Advance R1-M 4 piston calipers, Renthal clip-ons, Vortex rear-sets, mirror eleminators, Ohlins steering dampner and Pirelli SC-1 front and rear!!!! One day in and out with perfectly blead brake lines!! Visit My IG @mrindestructible99 to see my bike and detailed pics of their work!! Thanks MPS!! You guys ROCK!!!
Went in to fix a loud pop on my exhaust of a Suzuki boulevard .The owner Alex quickly assessed the problem and fixed it. Coming back for any future problems
I was due for a larger service on one of my bikes and had been having really poor experiences at a larger SoCal dealership and ended up bringing the bike here after a recommendation. Ive been going back ever since.Alex is always really up front about what its going to cost, and what might potentially cost more once he gets things apart. There are times when hes busy and it may take a few days longer than youd like to get a bike back, but its totally worth it for the level of attention and information I get when I bring my bike here. I always get a really thorough explanation of the work being done and Alex takes the time to answer any questions I have. On several occasions Ive had him point towards buying used parts or doing work myself regarding something he could have charged me several hundred dollars for.Contrary to several other reviews, Ive never been charged a storage fee. I also pick up my bikes within a day or two of when theyre done.
The Best
Alex has taken great care of my Aprilia. I trust the guys here.
Been a couple of weeks since I got my bike back from MPS. Wanted to wait a bit before I wrote up a review of my experience with their staff, service and work. Let me first say that I’m a bit of wrench head and have serviced my bikes over the years. Why pay way too much for an oil change, chain adjustment and lube, etc.? Back in January, my daily rider, broke down. It’s ’07 Suzuki Burgman 650, with 55k on the odometer. Yeah I know, a scooter. The local dealer that I have done past business with, quoted me 5.5K to replace the broken CVT, or a $350.00 trade-in on a new scoot (Yeah right!). I was recommended to MPS by another local garage that primarily services sports bikes (West Coast GP Cycles on Pico). I met with Alex the owner. He suggested tearing down the CVT, to diagnose the problem. Once that was done, he came back with a decent quote on sourcing an engine and CVT replacement instead of a rebuild. I felt very comfortable with the quote and suggestion after talking with Alex and one of his mechanics (Beto) that had done the tear down. Well the bike is running like new. I’m very happy with the work, their follow up and the cost. I will recommend them to other motorcycle rider friends.
Great fast service, owner was awesome and very helpful. Would absolutely recommend this place to anybody in Los Angeles!
The guys that work there are nice enough, but they just dont do a good job. I would save your time and money and go to a bigger garage that gives you recourse if they mess up.
Excellent service, knowledgeable personnel, great place. Shop dog rocks!
Great service and fair pricing
Cool place but pictures need to be updated
Owner is super rude, his mechanic tell you one thing and he tells you another. He is impossible to deal with, as condescending as they come he thinks hes a motorcycle God...lol
Great customer service and very helpful.
I was in town from Pennsylvania on a cross country road trip and needed a new rear tire. The guys changed the tire while I waited with no appointment.
Worse place ever guy got attitude
Alex and the guys helped me look at a motorcycle before buying. Saved me $$ and headachs!
Great friendly service!!! Plus just blocks away from home!!! Nice!!!!!!!!
I love this place
Loved it
Never fix my bike . Must pay 120$ .
Great service
Okay
Fuck you
