I had a great experience with Steve. He set up my Yamaha Revstar two months ago and its still playing great! Steve was extremely communicative and accommodating. He even went the extra mile to wait longer than the agreed upon time, when I gave him a phone call, to pick up my guitar. I really appreciate the care and effort he put into setting up my guitar and I will definitely arrange to get my other guitars set up by him.

Living in the Los Angeles area, there are plenty of options when it comes to guitar repair but Steve of Nomadic Guitar was the only one who made me feel like my equipment was going to be taken care of 100% and I was going to be valued as a client. After speaking to two guitar repair shops prior to calling Nomadic Guitar, and calling one other subsequentially after, Steve was the only one I felt comfortable going with after only one simple conversation over the phone. When asked about what his full guitar setup program entails, he was able to not only explain every step thoroughly, but also educated me on the process. Steve went the extra mile to address all my questions and follow-up with his professional take. That was especially valuable to me as someone bringing their guitar to be setup for the first time.Getting the chance to speak with Steve in person, I learned of how conscious and serious he is about the precautions he takes to not only to protect himself and his clients during this pandemic, but his staff as well. The high standard for safe practices goes along fittingly with his high quality of work. Masterfully, he made my phenomenally playable Ibanez Jiva10 play even better than how I received it new from the factory just a few short months ago.I appreciated that Steve wanted my business and I felt like I made the right decision going with someone so passionate in his trade. Steve is someone I plan on bringing my guitars to for a long time and I look forward to getting my 15 year old Les Paul setup from him next. Thanks again!

Im giving this repair guy a three only because when you pick up your guitar the repair guy isnt there Incase you have an issue with something on the spot he isnt there to fix the issue....I feel that when you take a guitar to someone the repair person should be there so that you can try your guitar there infront of them so if anything isnt right they can make it right on the spot and not have to go home and come back to fix it. In my case I didnt like my guitar action and he wasnt there to let him Know so that it would be fixed on the spot. I did let him know through text but I live far from the repair shop and would have to drive back out there to fix it. Something that could have been avoided had the repair guy been there when I picked up my guitar...

Hands down 5 stars. Would give more if I could. I brought my jazz bass here for a setup and repair. The bass was in fairly rough shape and when I recieved it after the repairs it was as if I had just brought it home for the first time. I plan to bring them my guitar soon, as I am totally confident that nomadic will go above and beyond to make my instruments play the way I want them to. Give it a place in his laboratory and lets the magic happen in its own wayOn its own time, for me this took four months. What I left with Steve was unplayable. What Steve returned to me is now the main bass I use with my band, Psilocybin Pony, a celebration of the music created by The Cars.Mud flaps were what my bass needed to create the balance that is crucial to any guitar if one intends to play standing upright. The 5 different guitar techs I took this bass to gave up within a day or two.Steve is the guy you want to know about

So happy to have found Nomadic! I had an old neglected guitar with a broken tuner and just wanted to make it playable again, but Steven went above and beyond and cleaned up every last corner of the guitar -- he replaced all of my tuners, cleaned up some finicky electronics, and brought my action down, and I am totally blown away at how well it plays now. It feels like its brand new, but without compromising the warm, boomy vibe that Ive always loved about it. I had no idea that it was possible and only wish I would have done it years ago. I posted before and after photos so you can see his work on the tuners.Prices were also fair and communication was clear and quick, I will definitely be back with any guitar needs big or small. Two-part review - one for Steve/Nomadic as a guitar/amp tech and the other as a guitar instructor. First, I was looking for a guitar tech that a) knows what he is doing in setting up/building/repair guitars and amps and b) gets your gear back when they say theyre going to get it back to you.My guitar has a Floyd Rose tremolo - if youve ever tried to set up a guitar (or even change strings for that matter) with a Floyd, you know how much of a pain it is. Some techs know how to set them up, others dont. Steve is a master at it. The action and intonation were amazing. I eventually had Steve block the tremolo - still sounds great and much easier to change strings, etc. Also had him clean and repair an old Fender tube amp; sounds better than ever after working the magic on it.On the part about getting your gear back to you when he says he will - he does. None of the usual Ill get it to you in a couple of weeks and then you dont hear from the tech again until you call him back then its another 4 weeks later when you get your guitar back. Bottom line - Steve delivers great quality, on time.Steve as a guitar instructor - amazing. Youll enjoy learning theory in a non-traditional way, and will be playing the songs you want to play faster and better than with most instructors (assuming you practice and follow his advice).Bonus - hes a cool dude and his band Urban Grass is great and a lot of fun to catch live in LA.Go see Steve at Nomadic.

Ive been taking lessons with Steve for a few months now, and Im really enjoying them. Ive been wanting to learn to play an instrument for a while, and always regretted not having done it as a kid. I thought starting as an adult would be much harder, especially since I tend to get frustrated when I cant get something right. Steve has been very patient and encouraging though, and lessons with him are anything but frustrating.I especially like that he teaches popular songs, which makes the classes so much more fun (not just abstract theory). He is also very good at breaking down a song, and starting with simplified versions (which is great for a complete novice like me). When I then progress to the more complex version, it gives me a good feeling of achievement. If you want to take guitar lessons, I strongly recommend Steve!

I contacted Steve because I wanted to flip a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster from right-handed to left-handed. One of the best things is that you can drop off your gear all over town - so I wound up dropping off the guitar over at Bedrock after work and then picked it up from him directly, two weeks later over on San Fernando. BE AWARE - service takes two weeks, generally because hes working on a lot of different instruments at once. Just be sure to text and find out how its going. The guitar sounds wonderful, handles perfectly, and Steve was completely patient, respectful, and professional as he took me through the process of the modifications he would make to my guitar. He was easy to reach via text and over the phone. Upon picking it up, he took me through the work he did on the guitar, had me demo it on his amp on the spot, gave me a free pick and sticker, and answered my questions about it afterwards. All in all, couldnt have asked for a better job! The guitar already felt pretty nice but the adjustments he made to the action, the bridge, and pickups really made it perfect. Id recommend Nomadic Guitar Repair to anybody, excellent service.

Steve is the truth with regards to repairing and setting up guitars. Steve did a great job getting my 2015 Fender Strat American Deluxe working again due to a faulty pickup and the set up on it was perfect. He also did an amazing job setting up my 2000 Fender Strat American Standard. I will definitely be back should I need any guitar tune ups or repairs. The cost is very reasonable and as busy as he is he still gets your guitar back to you fairly quickly. I highly recommend Steve at Nomadic Guitar Repairs.
