I have supported the Cookbook store for years. Driving over from Pasadena to Echo Park, worried they may not survive. The reason for the two star review today is pointed at the Highland Park location. I understand the business has been recently sold and this may be the result. Twice the counter girl has been so rude, decent customer service alludes her. She possesses virtually no information about products, of in house production, availability, pricing...really quite useless. Cookbook Store is a lovely setting, interesting products, Working there is on the fun side of retail, not a hard job and yet this counter girl does it so poorly. Disappointing indeed!
This grocery store has it all, and Im amazed by how supportive and polite their employees are. Also, the atmosphere in this place is absolutely incredible, and I had everything I wanted.
Great store! All kinds of quality goodies...
Super delicious bread. Very covid safe
It is an amazing experience walking through the front door. Everything smelled and looked amazing, everyone that worked there was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back!
I have been shopping here for over a year with my ESA support animal and have always been welcome. Except for today. I will never go back here again nor recommend it as I did just twice this morning at Homestate. I have made excuses for their trendy pricey items but no more. I realize that they are using the law to prohibit animals, but as I read it and hear from other markets, it is subjective to them, their situation and their choice. I am forced to realize that after all this time shopping there with my trained dog his updated papers and very specific reasons for having him with me they are not animal friendly. So bottom line is I have shopped there for awhile and now all of a sudden by their choice I am no longer welcome with my ESA animal. I can only conclude they are now an anti-animal, and discriminatory against mental health needs customers. They actually told me to leave my dog out in the rain. Pretty disgusted by this place.Signed a long time resident, community activist, Animal rights activist, cyclist and artist in Highland Park.
What they do offer is high quality. Usually its staffed by two women. I think one is the owner and shes great.
A little pricy, but exceptional food.
What an amazing grocery store. I have a specific diet and Aurnel was a ton of help. She was very friendly and took her time with me. I really enjoy shopping here and they have a nice selection.
Fresh organic produce, gourmet quick bites, and high end bits for your fridge. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. A chill staff thats nice enough, but not overly friendly.
Very lovely grocery store with really good bread, fresh vegetables and good cheese.
Its a awesome place got to see it got to taste it got to be a cookbook all the way
Good sandwiches but you have to ask them to slice the ham or prosciutto and you’ll have to put them in the sandwich yourself...Very weird...Vegan dictators with a meat store bec it’s profitable!? HahaGluten free bread is great. Zucchini bread is fantastic as well. Biscotti is fresh and is delish!
Great Produce, locally sourced.
Excellent quality food. Smart staff.
Just bought and prepared the black mole from Oaxaca. Delicious.
Amazing small market, the second iteration after an Echo Park stalwart.
All the SWPL youll ever need. Welcome fam.
Too pricey, just go to trader joes.
