This is my go-to store for real service! Stan and Jerry know their stuff! I’ve had lots of work (repaired pedals, stands,, and tom holders etc) done here and they always do an excellent job. Most recently I had Jerry put a new Gretsch tom holder bracket on my bass drum. I brought in the drum and he took care of it on the spot. And Stan is currently cutting my bass drum down, from 18” to 14”. I hate long bass drums. Shorter bass drums are punchier. Picking it up either today or tomorrow and I can’t wait! They also have a great inventory of classic, quality drum sets, and snare drums.A little trivia. That’s Buddy Rich’s drum set behind me in that photo.

I have shopped here since 1966. I rated it 5 stars because I couldn’t rate it 10! Stan, Jerry and their staff are the most knowledgeable, friendly, talented and effective drum guys anywhere. Period. I have purchased drum sets, snare drums, timbales, cymbals, bell trees, sticks, mallets, kalimbas, flexatones, heads and more from them. Always feels like going home. ♥️🥁

If youre a percussionist, this shop will get you in trouble. Besides having some of traditional and unique instruments, this shop has well educated staff providing the best customer service. I originally went there to get some new claves, but I left with a Salsa Handheld Cowbell 😁! The gentleman who assisted this self taught Percussionist, gave me tips on how to select drum sticks, listening for various tones and he even complimented me on my playing. Before leaving I played around with this Steel Drum. GREAT DRUM SHOP TO CHECK OUT 🥁🎶👏🏼!

I have lived and gigged in LA for thirty years. Ive been coming to Pro Drum for thirty years. To say I LOVE this place is an understatement. Stan and Jerry are a treasure for the drumming community in this incredible city. Ive had GREAT conversations with Smitty Smith, Brian Blade, Jeff Hamilton, James Gadsen, Denny Seiwell and of course Stan and Jerry. Its like going to AP history but really fun. If you play drums you owe it to yourself to go there at least once.

Pro Drum Shop is absolutely one of the best of the best. Unlike big box music stores where when you talk to somebody about any given thing related to Drums, you’re liable to get some less–than–accurate information. However at PRO Drim, everybody knows their stuff and they’ve always been most helpful. In fact they actually saved my black beauty snare drum when It was hit by a car! Stan and Jerry and co. Made it look like new and sound better than ever! They are really two people who are irreplaceable. Pro Drum Shop is absolutely one of the best of the best. Highly recommended! .

My Love affair with drums started in the late 1970s when my Dad used to rehearse at The Musicians Union(Local 47) across the street. He would take me with him(I was about 7years old) and he would need Skins for his Congas and sticks and what not. It was a time when everything was just great in Hollywood. Emergency! was on T.V. as well as Adam 12, life was good then. My life would change though very early and I didnt see it coming. One day he said, come with me to the Drum Shop. The minute I first walked in with him, IT WAS OVER!!! All Star Wars Figures, Hot Wheels, BMX Bike, Atari 2600 and everything else a Normal kid would want was out of mind. All I wanted for the longest time was DRUMS. I had asked, pleaded, begged and kicked and screamed about having a set. I think my parents held out because they wanted a child to concentrate on school and not becoming just like Dad. It was an awakening for me, a deep love for playing music, truly understanding phrasing in composition, the group comradeship of making songs up, all the high fives after a set and the list goes on. Well, this is now 35 years later and my love has grown to have 38 vintage drum sets(All Ludwig & Gretsch) and 64 snare drums(all Ludwig & Gretsch) and counting. It has been a pleasure to be a continued patron at a Legendary Hollywood Place such as Professional Drum Shop. All my needs, they have and my relationship with Stan & Jerry is awesome, they have that well take care of you vibe. I am very pleased this place came into my life. It changed me forever and my deep passion is because of the greatness I saw there. Thanks Fellas and keep up the good work. Professional Drum Shop, the very best go to the very best, Cheers! I wish I could tell the stories about my dealings with the professional drum shop. I worked across the street at the musicians union little store that was run by Maury Stein.Because Maury Was a Big Man in Town they tolerated me.There was several drummers who were disliked by either Bob or Chuck and Chuck once hit me on the head with a drum head.I filed a police report and he had to show up at a hearing and he hated me ever after.Once I found Bob Yeager asleep and he was so drunk I couldve taken a set of drums and he wouldnt have known it.Instead, I woke him up. I saw a tribute to the late Freddie Gruber who I knew in 1958.. It Was organized by Jim Keltner. He spoke about Mike Romero who the owners of the shop really disliked. When Mike was 16 he was already a fantastically accomplished drummer. They didnt like me because they couldnt figure out who I was. I played drums with Dexter Gordon, Benny Carter, Dave Pike and I had the house band at the Haig and that was where Charlie Haden met Ornette Coleman who I had invited to the gig. I knew and loved Nick Ceroli and Earl Palmer and Roy Haynes were friends from the 50s. Earl took me to the Grammys in 1994 and after he retired we talked on the phone all the time. I did TV work, recording work and I played every kind of music including jazz, country and western, middle eastern and with comedians like Don Rickles, Spike Jones, and Jerry Colonna. I played shows in Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe, and Canada and so many other places I dont remember. I remember the old drum shop on Santa Monica Blvd called Drum City. They treated ed me like royalty and they were great guys and I should have stuck with them. I dont know the new guys and I wish them luck but there is so many drum stories that I could tell. Probably none of you people knew Gene Gammage who was from LA and he played and recorded with Oscar Peterson or Reed Vaughn who played with Stan Kenton and another drummer I wish that I could remember his name.He played at the Lighthouse and he was also an excellent piano player. I knew Frank Butler because we were in San Quentin together. He couldnt walk in the doors of the drum shops because he would steal anything he could but he also played with Miles Davis and John Coltrane.I met Buddy Rich at the Pro drum shop. Bob Yeager was having a heart attack watching Buddy fooling around on a practice pad. I knew Stan Levy and Sol Gubin and Norm Jeffries who played on the Hollywood Palace TV show and Claudio Slon who played with Brazil 66 and Walter Wanderly. So many names of so many drummers like Larance Marable, who played with Charlie Parker and Hank Milo who moved back to New York and became one of the best show drummers on Broadway.I played in a rock band that played only top 40 rhythm and blues. They were three Chicanos and I was a New York Jew and we sounded like we were African American. LA in those days held so much promise but the last time I was there was for Teddy Edwards Memorial service at the union.LA was a sad sight to behold.I wish the new owners all the best and I hope the people who work there dont have the same mean-spirited outlook for the people they didnt like.I am giving them five stars because I hope they are not what their predecessors were.
