A few of years ago (2015 or so), someone I went to school with was working near the San Francisco Saloon on West Pico Blvd. and invited me to join him for lunch. I almost didnt go.A little over twenty years ago, when i first got to Los Angeles, I went there twice with a friend, in 1997-1998. Both times the young service staff made a big show (and by that, I mean laughing and pointing at my friend and I from a distance) of refusing to serve us. The friend I went with at the time is caucasian half French and half Swedish. I am of East Asian descent (Korean). My friend had eaten there before, and never had a problem. We could only assume it was because of my ethnicity.I had literally been in LA for a little over a week. It certainly didnt make me feel welcome.The next day I called to talk to a a manager. I was always told they were not available. I went a second time with the same friend (he liked the place) earlier in the day, to see if I could talk to a manager. Utterly ignored again.So when I met another friend there a few years ago, the experience was quite different. It was crowded, the service brisk and efficient. This friend is half Salvadoran, half Irish and definitely looks more Latin than caucasian. He said hes never had a problem there.I dont know if there had been a change in management or not, and certainly the young bartender and servers who were there in the past had moved on. But the memory lingers.Was there a change in management? I dont know. But I think twice about going there, still. I probably wouldnt have, that third time, if the second friend hadnt asked me to meet him there.If there is anyone out there, who worked there in the late 90s early 2000s Id appreciate hearing from you. What the heck was going on there back then? (I only bring it up now, because a Korean friend related a.similar negative experience at Taverna Tonys in Malibu, and it brought the memory back. I cant say it was pleasant.)I realize that this all happened quite some time ago, but clearly, it still rankles. If the same owner/operators are managing the SF Saloon today, what was going on back then? What was up with the phone? Why did no one get back to me? I left messages.

Good place to relax with friends and watch all tape of game.Customer service is great and excellent price, friendly people.

Okay pub food fair decent happy hour prices on drinks not too loud. Mostly undistinguished nearby our server happened to be just terrifically friendly and then little hard to get hold of but overall friend positive experience. Decent local place to get a beer and some puppy food.

The most unprofessional staff ever. I called, they have multiple lines and all sounded busy for a solid 30 minutes straight. I finally got through, the woman answered, didnt greet me or anything and proceeded to carry on her personal conversation before She actually acknowledged me. She then said she would get someone else, left me on hold for 20 minutes and meanwhile; I can hear her entire conversation in the background, no one ever came back to me to help me and now makes sense why it just sounds on hold all the time. I ended up ordering from Don Zarapes instead and will be giving them my business from now.

A taste from Mexico, Best Salsa verity, each one has its own great touch, you will eat your fingers along with the ZACTeCas fajitas, if you order spicy you hear everyone around you cough, waiters will give you their best service, with a Smile they all are very nice, and margaritas on the Rocks, Rock!!!! we honestly love this place. Must try.

I dine in this place from time to time! This is my favorite spot to dine. I go there many times. The meals are just great, the team is friendly and the cost is decent. I enjoy being in this place to have a decent dinner.

As for my food... I ordered the crispy French toast with Nutella and berries (no whip), side of bacon, and a mimosa. It was ready much faster than I expected and it was SO good! All the while I enjoyed my book, just sat and relaxed. Eventually when I was done eating I wanted more, no not because I was hungry but because my first dish was amazing. Yes, I had just come from the gym. Ha! Anyways, ordered a side of potatoes, more bacon, and another mimosa. Yum!I will be back for more. Oh yes!

Jen has been absolutely fabulous every time weve gone, and definitely keeps the atmosphere lively! Additionally the food and drinks are great and they get just about every sport you can think of. A great place to watch any event as fans of every team love to show up.

Lately every time Ive visited the bar at this place, I sense animosity from the Bartanding staff members, it feels racial really to be honest..! At times, it seem as if these people go out of their way to show their discomfort while serving me. In the other hand, this restaurant has a good deal of fast food type thing going..

Excellent burgers and good customer service 😁 is what you will receive when you stop in for a beer and a burger. Waitress is always checking in and the food is fantastic. Top grade beef is used in the burgers.

Great pub with really good bar food. It is obvious when you walk in that it is a locals hangout, but not intimidating. People are friendly and inviting. The staff is helpful and attentive. Great place to watch a game and have a burger and beer without all the craziness of a sports bar or the attitude of the usual santa Monica bars.

First time here. They have a good happy hour. The food was good I had the Hickory Burger with sweet potato fries. The cocktails was good also

Easy to find a table or a booth on a weeknight when the Giants are playing their NL West rivals. The chicken strips were pretty good, but mine werent strips - instead they were chicken chunks, or maybe even chicken tenders. The tots that came alongside were solid (could also get fries) and I enjoyed the BBQ sauce. Good fried food.Tons of TVs in the seated area and the bar. The chairs at the table were a bit uncomfortable, especially for a sports bar, where people are sitting for long periods of time. Maybe get cushions on the wood chairs? Easy street parking on a weeknight (after hours for the meters).

I live close to this bar, so I go there pretty frequently but I wouldnt go if I didnt live next to it. Their IPA selection is poor - they generally only have Racer 5 & sometimes Stone Delicious IPA but thats it. Their burgers are pretty good, service is pretty good. Its really a local hangout. Kitchen closes at 11pm.Update: I dont live so close anymore but I still go here all the time. Its our favorite spot for a laid back burger and brew.

Happy hour is great, with lots of options on both the food and drink sides of things. We had a total of three people in our group, all of whom got multiple rounds of drinks plus some food, and the bill still didnt even top $60. If youre a fan of San Francisco sports teams youll love the decor too--Giants and 49ers stuff EVERYWHERE! Only reason Im docking them a star is a half star for cleanliness (bathrooms could use some help), and half a star for service (it wasnt terribly busy but we had a tough time waving down our server).Also beware--parking/traffic around here SUCKS. Park around back!

Well 1st time visiting the place I was not to impressed with the customer service from the bartender or the waitresses they werent friendly or welcoming at all.. Despite that the bar was full with 49ers fans and it was a great crowd.. I believe that working at a bar its a must that there costumer service needs to be at a 10... The food was okay not nothing wow...

Great selection of beers and inner decor is pretty great. Lives up its name by having lively patrons at every corner, or at least when I got there randomly one night. Was getting dessert with a friend and ironically got free slices of cake as the bakery next door likes to give the bar the leftovers(they had some great oreo and coconut cake; definitely would recommend that local bakery based on this sampling if you also need to buy cake on your way back from getting hammered for whatever convenient reasoning). Would recommend, 10/10 for being a quaint bar with a great local hospitality and great pub saloon backdrop.

Seems to be a place where they have set regulars. Took a while for the young lady behind the bar to notice me; I get it, there was a riveting GOT conversation happening.Beers are priced okay, $8 for Guinness. Didn’t stay long enough to have food.

Watched the NBA finals, was great vibe. Was packed and fun. Nothing to complain about :)

Yes! If youre a 49er fan, this is the only haven in Los Angeles where you can be amongst other Faithful. Theres a nice selection of beers on tap and a great menu. I cant vouch for the quality of their hot wings, but I can tell you they smell amazing and almost made me switch my food order. I stuck with the Montana burger, which was giant and loaded with extras. Between the drinks, food and company, you cant find a better spot in all of southern California.

One that really sticks out as giving above the normal service you would expect from a server at a bar or pub in Los Angeles.We got in right at Happy hour so I went for the house bourbon which was pretty sharp.Food we ordered a few things:Chicken fingers- didnt look burned but tasted burnt, I think maybe there was something burned in the oil. We still ate it because we were hungry.I also ordered a wedge salad with the burger patty add on.The burger patty was very dry, over done and not well seasoned. The salad was pretty standard. Seemed to have some oddities like something was up with the bacon, real bacon mixed with bacon bits maybe, not sure why anyone would do that but thats what it tasted like.Nice local bar, especially if you like the 49ers. Seemed to be pretty busy for a Tuesday night but not too crazye that you cant get a booth.

I wanted to bring my boyfriend chicken tenders when I picked him up at the airport after a long day of travel. Called around 9 to ask how late the kitchen was open and they told me 11. At 10, I called to place my order and an employee told me they closed the kitchen over TWO hours early and wouldnt reopen it. Also, super unapologetic and frankly rude.

The San Francisco saloon is usually a 4 star place for me. It is a solid neighborhood bar where you can always get a good drink and a bite.But tonight, on Labor Day weekend, the slowest weekend ever, they screwed up our order! We were waiting for buffalo wings for 45 min and the freaking wings never arrived. When we asked for the check, we realized that the waiter never put our order in. But I know for sure it wasnt a miscommunication or that he didnt hear us.Big let down. So, 2 stars it is. Boo to the San Francisco Saloon.

Its an SF bar... Sometimes. The management refusing to turn on sound during the warriors games this season... This epic season... Has led to me questioning the commitment of this establishment to bay area sports teams.

I work right by it and I have always had great service there. The prices are reasonable and its more of a sports pub but with a good mix of people from all walks of life.

Its a great place to drop in and catch a game on Tv. Folks are more than accommodating, attentive and hospitable. You can easily slip in along side the local regulars and enjoy some laughs, a cold beverage of your choice and whatever game youre looking for is most likely playing in some nook of the place. They keep a neighborhood feel to the place, nothing flashy or overly commercial. Only fault I have with the menu is has no real vegetarian options which is surprising since its nesstled up so close to santa Monica and Westwood. Bathrooms or pretty clean, not immaculate.

I used to stop here for lunch back in the late 80s. Two tap beers and a sausilito sandwich are still on the menu and still the perfect lunch.
