I love pies, but even if you just like pies, I would recommend visiting the Pie Hole. The best part about pies is that they are meant to be shared, so bring a friend or two, or three, and share a slice. You might think that one slice isnt enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, but some of these pies can be heavier than they look.Street parking can be a struggle to find on busy nights, but once you get there, the vibes are great and there was even a live jazz group the night we went.
Whoa, yum.Had no idea what to order so I picked a Pie Pint and ended up with the Honey Custard flavor. Wow. It was delicious! Definitely shareable, huge chunks of pie in there, and ice cream. Great flavor, I’m definitely going back to try as much as I can. This neighborhood is REALLY cool - great to take a walk from here down to One Santa Fe and see what they’re doing there, then walk back through the Aliso Apartments and pay attention as you walk through - the amenities there make me want to move NOW! Plus, it’s right by Pie Hole. ;)
Was excited for delivery after a pie craving but it really fell short, so much potential here with a niche product. The shepherds pie was overly salty.Mac & cheese pie was actually quite bad like pieces of rubber and salty. The blueberry pie was very nice warmed up with a side of ice cream very tasty. All the pies arrived in nasty plastic containers with sharp edges. A lot of companies are using paper/card boxes for delivery which I think would work a lot better for pies.
Its everything youd expect and more. Theres outside seating available during the pandemic. They have excellent safety precautions inside to accommodate social distancing without feeling rushed. All of the pies were excellent. I highly recommend the shepherds pie. Brought it home to heat up the next day and it was very, very good. Street parking can get a little tight but if you keep your eyes open people are always leaving the area. great place to hit after one of the breweries in the area.
Love their Earl Grey tea pie, it pairs so well with coffee.
ATMOSPHERE:Had nice outdoor seating to enjoy your pies.FOOD:I wish I had multiple stomachs so I could sample everything. Their display window had so much good looking pies, including savory dishes like empanadas and quiches. We got several pie holes (think donut holes, but for pies) so that we could sample multiple. We tried the mexican chocolate and moms apple pie. Both were delicious!SERVICE:Service was fast, and we really enjoyed that its open late (we went past 10 pm on a Thursday).
I loved the Mexican chocolate pie ! Felt so nicely spiced and creamy my boyfriend I believe ha star lucky charm one it was so tasty and not overpowering sweet I would love to come again
I love pie. My nickname as a child was Skye Pie. I make pies myself. I. Love. Pie. This pie is fantastic. Amazing buttery crust. I got the take-and-bake chicken and cornbread, eating it right now. Delicious. Comforting. Tasty. I have the spinach quiche and mac and cheese in the freezer. Will update review once I eat those. Not as sold on their sweet pies but theyre still quite good. Havent had the Earl Grey yet - I dont like chocolate. The salted caramel custard was my favorite. The pie holes tend to be a bit dry.
We had to stop to try the Earl Gray pie Ive heard so much about and that didnt dissapoint in the slightest. We also got a breakfast pastry which was light and buttery. Got their 2 buck coffee which was good for the price. If youre close swing in for some pie, a drink, and a great time!
This place is delicious I recommend the serial killer pie and the pumpkin pie they are delicious
These are the nicest staff! Very welcoming and kind. Absolutely delicious pies! Would definitely recommend!
Épic pies! Probable one of the best Apple pie i had in the states.
Pretty bomb piesThe interior is beautiful, with the recipes mounted to the wall ( blocked out measurements for no copycats). Spacious with a warm setting.Pies range from $6-$8 (give or take) which for me is pricey. Pieces look small until you start eating and realize how much is there. We got the earl gray pie, pumpkin pie and apple pie. All of them were great. The apple had a heavy salty taste to off set the sweetness. The earl gray wasnt over powering and the pumpkin was honestly standard. The pies are a 4 star. The service pushes it into a 5 star. Friendly, answers all questions and patient. We went at the end of the night close to closing and they werent pushy or rude. They got us pies without any moans or groans.
First if all, finding parking its difficult in this trendy area, but dont give up. The pies are worth it. Once here, you enter through the dining room, to the left is where you order your pie. They have some specialty flavors as well as seasonal. If you dont want a big slice, get a pie hole, but there less filling in those.I think my favorite flavors where the two chocolate ones they had.
We enjoyed this place for after dinner dessert. The staff was super friendly and the outdoor seating area on the street was clean and well lit. It waz after 9:00 p.m. and the art district had a lot of activity it was a lot of fun. The Apple crumble pie was light and flaky We really enjoyed it, coffee was great too!
No no noooo the mexican chocolate pie is no good for the hispanic people that know whats up with Mexican desserts. The apple pie one was alright.
Super friendly Staff, great affordable coffee, nice location!
I cant say how much I love this place. Fresh good ingredients, quality preparation and amazing classic and creative pies. I came here for a whole week and a half and sampled their mini baby pies, and itbecamemy daily muse and comfort. Staff, wow the staff including Anthony detailed the ingredients and the flavor spectrums. Im taking some to New York on myflight I love them so much. Luv your pie hole!
Blueberry pie, Earl Grey pie, cornbread chicken meat pie, house coffee. All of it delicious, fresh, and consistent. We showed up when they opened, grabbed some pie and watched the endless procession of out of state license plates drive by. Tourists taking pictures of light poles. Bunch of pugs rolled by. Saw a ratatouille cross the street. Good food.
Parking is always a pain at this location. The pie is consistently alright but not the best in LA.
If I could give 0 stars I would. I would always come here but this last visit made me change my mind. My husband and I dined in then purchased some pies Togo. His shepherd’s pie was cold in the middle and the pies we took to go all had problems. Under baked crust, it was completely raw! And one pie even came home with a little friend in the container which was still alive! I called and emailed the location but never got any response. I dropped about $60 on this place and will never go for them not replying to my email and just for the simple fact that their quality has gone down. Do yourself a favor and go to a different location if you really want a pie from them!
It’s about 9pm and we had difficulty finding parking...We finally made it into the location and the coffee menu was behind the cashier (as seen on picture) no biggie because I got a pamphlet BUT it was a catering pamphlet and it didn’t have any coffee options. Now I’m really bothered because that’s what I been craving on my way out here and I like to be ready by the time I reach the cashier. My girlfriend and I got the chocolate brownie pie & Cereal KillerAnd quite honestly the Cereal killer had a strong lemon tart taste and that turned me off completely! The chocolate brownie was ok nothing special. We got this order to go but decided to eat here and the bag didn’t have any utensils.... we normally eat in the car so if that was the case we would of had to go all the way home to eat our pies. The café cubano was pretty good, everything together was $19 dollars... I’d go somewhere else to get better quality.Over rated in my opinion
Staff is great, items are a bit pricey for filling you get. We bought 2 of the egg and ham new items and filling was almost none existent. Outside crust was about all we tasted. They are a new item so hopefully will get noticed and re-adjusted They did good with covid guidelines over and above.
Used to like this place but after this weekend not sure if Ill be back. Waited in line with my girlfriend for almost ten minutes and when I moved up a spot, where a group of 4 was waiting in front of me, I was asked to move all the way back even further then where I initially was. When I asked why, I was told because thats where we needed to wait. I asked why wasnt the group of 4 in front of me told to go wait back there and I was told with a chuckle because they didnt have the energy to tell them, as if it were supposed to be funny. I have no issue following store policies in general but to be blatantly treated unfairly and be rude about I do have a problem with, so I left instead of waiting. For a coffee shop especially, the customer service you provide is equally as important as the product you provide.
Had high expectations after seeing the reviews. I had the s’mores pie and it wasn’t too good. :(
Love the pie hole! You cant go wrong ordering a slice of pie from here when in the arts district. My favorites are the cereal killer and the salted honey custard (pictured). A tiny bit pricy (about $7 per slice) but so worth it every once in a while. Free water inside :} and VERY sustainableHonestly if it looks crowded dont go in 😬 unless youre okay with waiting a little. Ive gone in the hour before they close on a weekend and its usually not that crowded,
This place is AMAZING!!! I love the pies here, every single pie I’ve tried is utterly amazing. On the last visit, tried the Mexican hot chocolate, it was so rich and creamy, I wasn’t feeling well, or I would’ve eaten MORE! The coffee is pretty good as well, Americans, please listen to me, you can buy speciality coffee here, please don’t keep stepping into Starbucks.
I love the sweet, the savory, and the customer service! Pie Hole never disappoints. I am glad that they have taken a smart approach to keeping customers and employees safe during the COVID-19 pandemic as well.
In the heart of art district, I visit it on a Sunday morning expecting it to be more crowded. The pies are a little too sweet for my taste.
Very tasty pies...ice cream and. COffee
Hard to find parking unless you go into payed lots or circle around for an empty meter spot. People working are really friendly. $40 for 3 slices, a horchta latte, ice tea and hand pie. The weekend special of the salted carmel custard was my absolute favorite. It is a small place and a bit pricey but pretty good.
We visited on Pi Day and were so excited about their specials. We even got to spin a wheel and won an entire pie for free. We came back the next day and were just as happy as the first day. Our favorites were the Earl Grey pie and the raspberry cream cheese pie hole. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was because of the price, I would’ve liked to spend less than $7 per slice, but it was a very good treat!
I grab a sweet caramel something pie and let me tell you it was fire, do yourself a favor and go get some pie.
Its pie. You really cant go wrong with pie for dessert! These guys do a great job great service and great pie!
I love the Pie Hole. Every time I have a friend in town I always take them to Pie Hole to share the delights of the Mexican Chocolate pie. The texture of the pie is silky yet decadent, but not overly sweet. The crust is perfectly crumbly and complements the filling so well. You can share with one or two other people, or you could also just enjoy a slice on your own if you feel up to the task ($6). You can order whole pies in advance for about $40 I believe. You could usually find seating inside at the communal table although they do have individual tables for you to snag as well. They have water available for you to fill in your own and the utensils are placed at each table.I have also tried the Earl Grey pie, pumpkin pie, and chess pie, but my heart belongs to the Mexican chocolate pie. The place is family-run and they have locations in Hollywood and Venice, but I like the Arts District one the best since I think it has the most character. Parking is always hard in the Arts District so be prepared to circle around the block several times or just park far and walk to get to this place. It’s across the street from Wurstkuche so it’s an easy place to head to for dessert (subtext = you may see a long line) but don’t let that deter you. The lines usually move pretty quick.Tdlr; one of the best dessert places in LA. Come here. Order the Mexican chocolate pie. Eat it. Then walk away belly full and heart full :)
Wonderful place for a slice o pie with a hot tea or coffee. Delicious food and kind and cheerful service. The Pie Hole continues to be a bright spot during 2020!
This place is really good, but what I love most about it is the service I received! After my order could not be fulfilled at the Hollywood location, the nice girl at the counter called this location to make sure they set aside what I wanted. After a failed attempt at ordering online, I called them and even though they were busy, they were SO helpful in saving my order for me. After all of the hassle I went through, the manager even added a couple of extra things for free. Will definitely be coming back!
Really good! I love the brownie pie!
Decent place to fulfill your pie craving, and love that they are open late at night. They say their earl grey pie is one of their best sellers, but I honestly didnt get the hype. Would definitely prefer their pecan pie, which was solid.
Great customer service and incredible pies! Please dont hesitate. The place is very clean and nicely decorated; I advise you to visit it.
Trendy pie place. Pie holes are a cute spin on a classic
Our first visit was fantastic we enjoyed our Pies & Coffee everything was so awesome we will definitely be back. Our Baristas were very polite and very sweet and very thoughtful. Thank you for making our first experience a lasting one we will see you guys next time.
I just love it...Peacan pie is my favorite, 2nd is the Mexican chocolate pie, paired up with a cafe cubano or a delicious latte😁👍
At first $6-8 feels pricy for just a slice of pie, but once you start eating it you forget about the cost and just enjoy the rich flavors and crumbly or flaky crust. Earl Grey is a favorite because of its unique, almost-minty-but-still-rich flavor. The environment is hip being in the arts district, but also because the decor is a classic wood and metal (mostly wood) aesthetic
Mexican chocolate pie is to die for. Holy smoley
My daughter took me for my birthday. It was a unique little place with a menu full of things Id love to try. We sat outside but the inside looked very honey and casual, just trendy enough to be cool. The customers were mainly young adults to middle age, lots of small groups of friends, couples dating and singles. Nice place and super delicious pies!
Tyzon (not sure that’s how you spell it) is the reason we come here!- Jackie & Juan
Very friendly staff and the pie selection is awesome
Loved their Pecan Pie as well as Mexican Chocolate Pie but the Earl Grey Tea was the showstopper for me.. Will def be one of my go to places every time I visit LA.
Francis from Big Man Bakes pointed us in this direction, and Im glad she did. We met Alex, who gave a similarly detailed rundown of all the pies and pie holes - including favorite sweets, fruit-based, and specials, as well as which slice matches which mood. We had come by on our way to dinner, so we bought some pie holes (lemon, and Mexican chocolate) as appetizers for dinner. (Alex even threw in a free one on a flavor we were curious about but initially passed over). All were delicious and the perfect size to satisfy a sweet tooth without going overboard. After dinner, we bought a few slices to enjoy later and for breakfast the next day. The mixed berry pie indeed made a wonderful breakfast the next morning.
Bad coffee. If you are going to charge 7$ for a latte, you have to be confident about your quality. One of the worst coffees in arts district.
