Fantastic neighborhood record & book store. Stock is priced really well. Picked up some fantastic 12” bargains. Theres seperate sections for collectible records by genre, so ensure look all round. Also has tapes and even VHS.

While it’s nice to see an old school book & record store still in existence, it’s quite lame they don’t take any book of independent photographers nor artists in consignment nor consideration. An independent store against independents? Booo.

This bookstore is amazing and a little gem in my neighborhood. However, the cashier should be working in a prison or should have an intensive customer service training. She ignores you, does not answer Hello, too busy chatting with her colleague doing nothing and she is very curt answering to queries and snappy. Its tough for everyone during this pandemic to make a living and enjoy life. I wont be supporting this local store anymore and I will find another place to enjoy my sparse wonderings in town. Its the last time I will be shopping there.

Not understanding the high rating from other users. In regards to books, appeared to have more books about film and theater than most (if thats your thing), but overall this is only a decent selection and not easily browsed. Not close to being impressed by the record selection. I felt like I was in the used section of 5th and Charles. Staff never said a word to me (literally), but whatever.

Awesome bookstore with lots of variety! Lots of books by feminist authors and books about different subjects like history, fiction, food, and more. Made for a perfect date night with my boyfriend during our visit to CA.

Good store with great gem but that service omg! We keep saying support your local store but with attitude like that i’ll rather to go to big store then. And that loud rock music is disturbing when you try to focus on finding what you need.

Staff are great. The cashier explained fidget devices to the guest in front of me and I LOVED that she explained it correctly - how people with ADHD and on the spectrum benefit from it the most. I thanked her for being aware of mental/cognitive health needs when it was my turn.

I honestly only came here for a photo opportunity while exploring Los Angeles. It felt so Harry Potter, like an alley street way with a little box store. Little did I know that there was actually a box store building and an outside area with books. I didnt purchase a book (which I should have) but they prices were very cheap and so many genres.However. Awesome spot for a really cool photo, if it isnt busy.

Been going here my whole life, each time I step inside its an adventure. I always come away with a great read, largely due to their great staff picks and awesome selection. One of the highlights of San Francisco!

Many books of many kinds! I’ve been there many many times. It’s nestled in 2 blocks of where people go on dates (lover’s block), eateries, high-end supermarket where celebs are seen, liquor store, French restaurant etc!

A lovely little bookstore--one of the best in the bay area. Step away from your computer monitor and order your books from Alexander Book Co. instead of Amazon! Youll get some human contact and feel great knowing youre supporting an independent bookseller.

Very orderly and clean. I came in early on a Sunday and immediately found what I was looking for (and it wasnt necessarily a common book). I was greeted when I came in, but didnt have much contact besides that with the employees. They have a large selection of magazines as well.

Whats this? A good used bookstore in anti-intellectual Southern California? Impossible! And yet: behold. It exists, and deserves your patronage.
