Had some free time in the area and a little overdue for an oil change so I called a few places and luckily the folks over at Gateway Auto were able to get me in right away!!I got a tire rotation, oil change, and they replaced the air filters for a pretty affordable price!! The people at the shop were amazing and very helpful. Ike & Ricardo the mechanic was able to get me in and began servicing my car within the hour of the phone call. I would def recommend this local shop ❤️😋 thank you!!!

Ike and his mechanics here at the gateway auto shop repaired and did a tune up of my 2001 mazda. I called around the area and ike gave me the best quote and was very knowledgeable of my problem. Fixed my issues quickly, provided a tune up all at a reasonable price. Ike and his mechanics keep you update constantly during the process and were super friendly. Wow, this must be the first time I havent felt doubt when it comes to the work done on my car. My engine light turned on on a Friday afternoon and I panicked because my car is the ONLY transportation I have to get to work.I took the car to Oscar at Gateway auto early Saturday morning and Oscar was so helpful! He called me within an hour, told me what was up, and even offered to show me exactly what was wrong and how he was going to fix it.

Very nice owner so I gave him a shot, he charged $700 for engine problem in old Toyota Corolla then engine light came on again and he wanted to charge $130 for special test ?!, then charge for fixing! I told him right at the start please don’t fix one thing if it’s several problems; the car has always been taken care of!My point is ..... if they couldn’t handle the easiest repairable car in the last 20 years ; be careful!

Made an appointment for a brake replacement job. When I arrived there was only 1 employee, and another customer arrived at the same time appointment! Lol. Moreover, price went up 70% as we agreed with the owner over the phone yesterday. Do not recommend this place. Highly unprofessional, expensive (compared to other places), and they just wasted my time with no excuse. No thank you.

I arrived at 11:00 on a Tuesday to get an oil change. I did not know about the leak in my radiator as seen in pic. Immediately they got on the phone and found a new one at a very reasonable price. I was up against a 2:30 deadline to drive the car and pick up a child from school and they worked hard to make that happen. My timeframe didnt allow them to do a full check, so when I noticed my temperature gauge running exceedingly hot the next morning I returned to discover the new radiator leaked. They are replacing it with a new one, now under warrantee. I know I got a good deal with parts and labor included because they seemed to genuinely care that my 17-year-old car continues to be working and safe to drive.

Gateway offers great prices and Ike, the store headman, is wonderful. He is very honest about servicing your car and provides speedy service. I would 100% recommend this shop to any of my loved ones and will be back. Thank you!!!

Ike is the owner and has attempted to hold our car and extort money from us. We called ahead and asked about a wiring harness for a trailer and he estimated over the phone $89 to $150. We brought it in and after a couple hours he said it would be $800. I said no way and he said he would try to do cheaper. He called back a little later and said $300-400 for the parts plus labor. I declined. He then said it would be $89 to have looked at it. I said that was not discussed ahead of time and he said they had spent a bunch of time looking. I said I understood but that would have to be something discussed prior. He refused to release our car without giving him cash.

This shop is a fraud. He gave a price for the repair and when we got there he extended it. It was cash only and he refused that we inspect the car, it was very werid and the owner was very agressive. I do not recommend this place at all.

Ike and his crew at Gateway Auto are great!He is fair & honest and a very nice guy.I highly recommend this place for your car maintenance.So here is my story the way it happened: I went to another repair shop, they took a whole day to diagnose my problem and charged me $66 and then quoted me a rip off high price, for example they said $800 for labor for a few hours of work on my car. I quickly called a few friends and instead I was referred here by one of their customers, who was very satisfied.Ike was not only very helpful in giving me an honest assessment of my Lexus IS250 problems and how I should just proceed but he quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem.He called me back a few times and provided me with updates and even emailed me a picture of my broken water pump.The reality is that most repair places will try to rip you off, claiming that they are honest, but actually this place has a long list of happy customers. Most repair places will try to make you fearful, they will say the car will break down on you, or they will say only they can repair the car. What I do know is that Ike and Gateway Auto Service will do their best and keep you informed and they stand behind their service, and their service is prompt and efficient.Next I am taking a 2005 Nissan Titan to them. Will write a review about that too.

Its great to find a new honest mechanic. Ike had my brakes and oil done in less than 4 hrs. He has amazing prices, best I found on the West Side and him and his lead mechanic are warm and friendly. I highly recommend him. My new brakes stop perfectly and are oh so quiet.

Over the last month or so, I had noticed a grinding noise coming from my AC Compressor. Eventually, the noise became louder and noticed a burning scent. I quickly looked on Yelp for a well reviewed shop in West LA. That is when I came across Gateway Auto.Ike was quick and very efficient in analyzing that my AC Compressor had burned up and that it needed to be replaced. He quoted me a fair price for the labor, parts and maintenance required. He was efficient to finish the job with a 2 day turnaround time and left my car running better than ever.Would definitely recommend to others and would definitely go back if I experience further car problems. Ike is the best! My car needed serious work. I blew a head gasket and my cylinder head was shot. I also needed a new radiator and electrical work. Ike immediately made me feel that the job can get done and it did for a very reasonable price. I recommend going to gateway auto for any car problems you might have

This place is great! They were able to fit me in for a tire change at the last minute, and I also asked them to do a full inspection. I decided to get all four tires replaced for a matching set, and they also let me know I needed a coolant flush (which I suspected), my rear breaklight was out, and I needed a repair on the rear back tire (again, I suspected already). The prices were VERY reasonable (especially for Santa Monica!), and they threw in the back tire repair for for free! I highly recommend this place if youre in the area :D

My family (me, my sister, my dad) have been going to Gateway Auto for over 10 years for so many reasons - lightning speed service, friendly staff (you’re the best Ike!), perfect work. It’s so hard to find a good and reliable mechanic and Ike does it like no other. I’ve looked so hard for someone but nothing comes close to Gateway - every time I show up he quickly brings his team to diagnose and provide a FAIR financial estimate - they don’t charge you crazy prices and try to cheat you out of money. Ike is very attentive and reasonable. He did a full check on my car and continuously called or sent pictures to update me on what he was doing and how the car look. He is also very efficient! I had three leaky hoses and a worn radiator that needed replacement, plus minor electronic work, all of which he took care of by the next day. I am very skeptical about repair shops as many are unscrupulous and will do anything or say anything to make a buck. On the other hand, this is a pretty honest shop. Ike, the owner, is very helpful in his recommendations and always willing to work with you regarding cost of repairs. He will do his best to match or beat other repair shops prices. Quality of repairs are good. Overall a good experience for auto repair.

I went to gateway auto get an oil change done on my car. I was on my lunch break and I had limited time. They did that in 15 min. They had a cheap price for an oil change and they changed the filter both for an amazing price. Their service was great as well. They were very polite and friendly.I am definitely going back for other services.

Took my jeep in to get some body work done. Ike went above and beyond my expectations. He did an amazing job, and my jeep now looks brand new. Very Professional. Ike had good prices and was very friendly. He got things done quickly. The quality of the parts looked very good as well.

I almost lost $1800 to this shop. Dont go there if you need accurate or correct answers as to whats wrong with your car. In spite of giving me erroneous diagnoses, they still charged me $90. On top of that, I lost three days, plus $75 from car rental, $35 for towing to that shop. Total loss: $200.If I let them do my car, I would have lost another $1800 and the car would still be dead as a corpse.Took my car to a Honda dealer and got my problems fixed for $360.It happened that my Honda went dead all of a sudden outside a post office. It cranked and wouldnt start, indicating a fuel line problem or an electrical ignition issue. Called this shop which was nearby. The shop helped arrange a tow truck.End of next day, they told me my engine control module (ECM) or brain box need replaced: $1200. Following day they told me my dashboard went dead, was burnt up. They showed me couple of tiny bubbles over the top of a circuit board chip. Replacing that circuit board would lighten up my wallet another $600. An electrical engineer myself, only overheat burns Ive seen on chips were brown and bulging, none of which was evident. Defects on the epoxy capsule during manufacture do create tiny plastic bubble or two on top. Total bill: $1800.Long story short, if you think you have unusual problems with your car, electrical ones in particular, think twice before you go to this shop.

My friend recommended coming to this shop. My car steering wheel was vibrating when braking and it clicked on turns. I looked up the symptoms online and found it could be the rotors. When I told Ike (Shop Owner) he told me the exact same thing. He didnt try to sell, didnt try to charge me for extra work other mechanics do. Lots of pressure to leave a positive review on Google/Yelp even when I just came in for an oil change, paired with offers of discounts.They found lots of reasons to keep bringing me back into the shop, finding one new issue at a time. Impossible to get a realistic estimate for how long repairs would actually take or cost.They offered low price estimates that beat competitors, only to raise the prise past the competitors estimate--mainly by the initial estimate being for some aspect of the service, with other smaller charges not included due to category but certainly being there on the final bill.I knew right away that they try actively to manage their online reviews. Now I know why.

I got home and found a flyer on my door for some deals. I called to see if I needed to make an appointment, they said I could just come on down and they would take care of me. I got there about 40 minutes before they closed, and they were able to get me in and out in about 25 minutes. Great bargain for what I got (oil and filter change, tire rotation, fill up on fluids), quick service, and a very accommodating and friendly staff.

Gateway Auto ServiceMy brakes suddenly went soft and unreliable. I found Gateway Auto Service on Craigslist. The attention to detail in the ad told me that this was a serious place. When I arrived I saw that the work area was clean, which is good indication that they are professionals. My real problem was that between putting myself through graduate school and working part-time, my funds were low. If the repair were too costly, I would have to park my car and take the bus until payday.They diagnosed the problem as a bad master cylinder. My front and rear brake pads were low, but still safe. They were able to work with me and replace the necessary parts to get me back on the road safely. They listened, they cared about me, and they did a great job. I don’t think you can do better than that.

I needed an overdue oil change and was driving by Gateway Auto Service and immediately was greeted by IKE and was very friendly in telling me what i needed for my scion tc. He will try to take advantage of you. Told me it was 157 for diagnostics and would rebuild throttle body. I go to shop and his mechanic tells me they only cleaned it even though ike tried charging 489 in parts then says o thats not the problem now its the transmission. Guess his diagnostics computer doesnt work, if he ever even used one that is. Went to get it towed to different shop and refused me my keys. Long story short thank god my car is out of there now and would never recommend this shop to anyone for anything!03/02/2019So proof ike has new clue what hes doing after he bad mouthed my last post. Took to my fathers mechanic he said ike is an idiot u cant rebuild throttle bodys on a kia optima u have to replace them and simply reprogram them now my car works fine 350 for the part 130 for diagnostics which they put towards the labor, all in all 480 plus tax out the door .. ike tried charging me 489 for parts to rebuild which he never did just cleaned and got caught then 157 for diagnostics and a couple hundred in labor.... then he told me it was my transmission and gonna cost a lot more. Simply everyone he is a sorry excuse for a mechanic. Ike dont take on work u dont know how to do !!!

Hi guys this the place for 5star rate and the owner deserves for his hard work this happens one day I was just passing from gateway Blvd and I just stop at Gateway Auto Service for some oil changes information for time availability and appointments for oil changes but the owner of Gateway Auto he so kind with respect and help me change my car oil same time and no rush I can say this the place for fix a car with any problems they offer all maintenance of any cars including brakes .engine .any kind of car problems this the place to get fix with honest and very reasonable price with very good serviceAnd I will definitely will come back for anything to get fix for car

I went to Ike at Gateway Auto Services because my clutch was slipping, and apparently my flywheel was completely burned as he had shown me in the photo he sent to me via text, as well as in person when I went to get my car.My car was barely moving by the time I got it to him at noon on 10/17/2013. He assured me he would do the best he could to get the car back to me by the end of the day. He checked in with me throughout the day to give me updates and such, and he kept his word by getting it back to me.When I drove it off the lot, I thought there was something funny about it, but he again said it was just because it was a hydraulic clutch, and that its brand new so it would just take time getting used to. After about 3-5 days, I started noticing issues, and one of those issues was that when I was in first gear, it would shake and stutter, and on small inclines, it would start to roll back.I called Ike on 10/30/2013, and he said he would look into the issue and resolve it. Since I was already scheduled to fly out of town on that day, I had my brother bring the car in, and as soon as my brother got there, Ike called me to tell me that he drove it around himself, and made the necessary adjustments. He assured me that there was nothing wrong with the clutch at that time, but instead proceeded to say that I needed to get more repairs done, such as changing the Master and Slave Cylinders, as well as patch up a hydraulic fluid leak.After hearing this, I decided to have my brother just take it to my regular mechanic in Inglewood to get a second opinion. I was told by him that there was no such leak, and he found no issue with the Master or Slave Cylinders, and that the clutch needed to be properly fitted and adjusted correctly. He noted that it was too tight to begin with, and that is why it started slipping after Ike repaired it.Once again, I called Ike on 11/6/2013, and explained to him what my mechanic had said, and Ike again insisted that there was nothing wrong with the clutch, and proceeded to say that I the issue was from the hydraulic oil leaking and to replace the cylinders, then he said he was busy and hung up on me. I tried calling him again the next day, 11/7/2013, and he didnt answer, nor return any of my calls.On 11/8/2013, I had a mobile mechanic, David Newton, come out to also inspect and diagnose, based on his high ratings from Yelp. He provided me a detailed document/estimate of all the issues he found, and he even test drove it himself. He noted the same as my mechanic in Inglewood, and additionally noting that it could possibly be the flywheel being machined too much or not at all.All in all, this is going to cost me an additional $700+ to get this work redone correctly.I am incredibly livid as now I am left to get these repairs done for an additional cost in less than 3 weeks when he guaranteed his work for 6 months, and now will not return the calls or anything.
