They have been the most honest automotive service people I have dealt with since I bought my first car almost 40 years ago. They are fast, they are reasonable and they are very straightforward. More than once they have told me I didnt need to do work that I thought was needed.

The guys at Northtown Automotive have been taking care of my cars for almost 20 years! They always do a great job for a very reasonable price. Ill never take any of my imports to anyone else in East Texas.

Forums described replacing a Mini Cooper A/C blower as the most difficult of all blowers to reach. I tried it myself and could not even see one of the screws much lees reach it. Knowing the difficulty, I asked them to keep it as long as they wished. Joe did the contortions himself and had it ready the next day and at a very reasonable price. Surprisingly, he owns two Minis and loves them. I am hooked.

My wife took my car in for clicking CV joint since Im in deployed to Korea and couldnt do it myself. They replaced it, but did something to cause the ABS to come on and stay on. They told her they had the top of the line code reader and it was saying the code couldnt be cleared. They never denied that they set the light off. When I called up there to clarify and see what their solution was, the owner was very short with me, insisted that the it couldnt be fixed. When I asked if we took it to another mechanic and got it fixed if we could bring him the receipt for him to reimburse us and he was adamant that he would not.We took it to Automotive Supercenter on the loop so they could look at it. All it ended up being was a dirty ABS sensor.

My Honda started to make an unhealthy noise about 2 years ago in the mornings when the temperature would get cold, then soon it would soon stop (the noise, not he car). It became more and more prominent so I took it in to Joe. He told me not much he can do unless he hears the noise himself. The problem was that by the time I would reach his shop the car would warm up and the noise would stop. Well, finally this winter my car decided to moan and roar and rattle almost constantly and so badly I thought maybe it is time for a new car (Pilot is 9.5 years old) but wanted a professional to tell me so. I took it in, Joe opened the hood, listened, sent me over to Honda to pick up a 59 cent hard plastic ring, I sat down to read the paper and voila...45 minutes later my car runs like new. Joe is the best and the most honest.

They were fantastic. A piece on my VW broke while I was driving through Texas. I had it towed initially to the VW dealership nearby and was told it would take several days to fix. That wasnt going to work for me since I was driving across the country and was on a schedule. So then I had my car towed to North Town Automotive. He fixed it in 2 hours and for a very reasonable price. I highly recommend them.

I bought an older BMW 330ci from a local big name dealer in Longview that also sells used cars. After less than 2 weeks and less than 300 miles driven, it started to drive poorly and my dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. Dealer politely reminded me the car was sold as is, and maybe I should take it to the BMW dealer in Tyler to get it checked out.The folks at the Tyler BMW were very polite, and had quite the posh waiting area. TVs, snacks (not in a vending machine), couches, tea, coffee, water, etc. It was nice, especially since I was there waiting for almost 4 hours to get my car diagnosed. After fending off car salesmen like mosquitoes in a swamp (Would you like to see how much we could get you for a trade in?), I finally received the verdict. The car which I paid slightly more than 8k for, required an additional $2400 in repairs to make it roadworthy.Seething, I called the salesman who sold me the car. He got an earful of words Ive picked up in my 30 years in construction and the oilfield. To his credit, he gave me Joes (the owners ) phone number at North Town Auto and told me to try him.Had to drop the car off due my work schedule, and Joe got back to me in kess than a day with the things he had found wrong with it. Not only did he find the same things the dealer did, but some potentially scarier things that they didnt find. After it was all said and done, with all the fixes the dealer suggested PLUS the ones they did not find, Joe got it done for $1400.Was I happy that the car I just bought off a lot came with a hidden $1400 repair cost? Of course not. I was happy that I found a mechanic that made the cars engine respond more aggressively and smoother than when I test drove it!Being a business owner myself, I realize you can never satisfy everyone. But finding an honest mechanic in this day and age is about as easy as finding an honest politician. Whenever I need a car worked on, it will go to North Town Automotive.
