Everyone should play this nine-hole at least once before it closes this fall. Golf without pretense and without any of the affectations of the surrounding courses. An enjoyable walk around nature on this course with all forms of wildlife to be seen and enough challenges to make you think about your shot from time to time.
So sad they are closing in order to accommodate luxury housing development (1 home per 35 acres!). This place is so charming, affordable, and feels like a bit of innocence and history lost. Welcome to the new, opulent Boulder.
Too bad this place is closing. Its a good no-frills 9-hole course to go get a casual round of golf in. Has some challenging holes without worrying about house Has a driving range, pro shop, and bar. Have a nice outdoor area where someone was paying music last time I was there.
Sadly, after 55 years, the golf course is closing. Another great public course falls victim to some rich guys deep pockets and his need to stroke his ego with a McMansion. Haystack GC will be greatly missed.
Best diner..... wonderful food, fantastic service. Thats it!
So sad to here these guys are closing, Ive been coming here regularly for five years. Super laid back and beautiful. Not the best fairways or greens, but thats the point of its charm.
Unbeatable for the price. Great scenery. Nice to have a pretty well kept, cheap course.
Love this course, not enough local places with low key vibes like Haystack left around the front range anymore.
Amazing old, short course that was Never funded, and has had little maintenance over the years, but remains à gem. Sad to see it go. One of my favorites.
An insanely fum and down to earth local, family owned 9 hole course. Haystack has a really neat laid back vibe, and the course was a blast! Also saw my first private group party where every single person was wearing masks.. Was very impressed!
I learned at Haystack Mountain and still play here. Its a fun and different style course from most ( and family run). The rough is tough, not overtly manicured like many courses - much like a links course in Scotland. So you might loose a ball or three. Or find a handful.Haystack will really help your short game due to the shorter, but very fun holes and water hazards. The driving range is good, but the putting/pitching green is great and very quiet. No reservations needed or taken is a unique advantage. Extra rounds only $5. So take a break and go again, quite entertaining.
As a collegiate golfer I can say that this course is not up to par as the other courses but I still enjoyed playing it until today. Arrived at the course and politely asked the woman at the check in if she would allow my boyfriend and I onto the course considering it was late. She said no in a disgustingly manner as if we were some newbies that didn’t know what they were talking about. As we were leaving, saying nothing back to her other than just a simple “okay thank you” the woman proceeded to make another incredible rude remark about the wildlife being on the course after dark and I quote, “we have a thing called wild animals here.” As I have lived in Colorado for awhile I am very well aware of this and this was uncalled for. Disgusted with the staff of this place.
I have played this course several times and I typically enjoy the scenery despite the course itself not being up to the standard of the other courses in the area. My LAST visit here was unfortunate however. As always, I went to check in to try and get on the course when the woman in the office said she wouldn’t let my girlfriend and I on the course. Understandable as it was getting late but after we paused in disappointment, she proceeded to state “we have a thing called wild animals here”. That line was unbelievable and unacceptable. How could a staff member speak to a repeating customer like that? I am sad to say I will never be back to this course and I advise others who consider this course to do the same. Haystack Mountain Golf Course does not come close to the other courses in town especially when they allow staff to speak to people like this.
Today was the last day oh, the course is closing permanently
Inexpensive and short course but not in the best condition
Highly recommended. I grew up in France and the US playing golf to relax and have a moment to myself. I always looked for medium difficulty golf courses. Haystack nailed it, the beautiful views and challenging holes fulfilled what I was looking for. Plus the staff is very friendly and communicative.
Haystack makes no qualms with what it is. This course is designed to learn or practice your game. There are no golf carts and the experience wont be glamorous but the scenery is beautiful and the course is fun. Highly recommended.
Great laidback community place to enjoy you love of golf regardless of skill level. Good driving range and putting practice area. Nice basic grill & bar area with a few tables & comfy chairs in pro shop. I really appreciated the water fountain with the water bottle spout. No tee times - first come first served. You may be behind slower golfers, but most are aware and will let you play through.Just remember to wear/bring your mosquito repellent for summer golfing.
Nearly unplayable, definitely un-payable. The greens are absolutely the worst in the state of Colorado, its like putting on a little league infield that hasnt been groomed since 1990. Such a shame because I grew up playing this course and the greens were maintained up until the last couple of years. It seems that the staff purposely ignore the greens.
If there was a Diners, Drive-ins and dives for golf courses, Haystack would be on the first episode. Its so authentic and unapologetically what it is. I grabbed a tee time for $10. Awesome place to practice or take golfers that are still learning. Dont expect manicured greens. No tee times, no carts and a dirt road to the club house. Beautiful scenery and no one taking golf too seriously. Will go again.
So Colorado. T-shirts in November. Good beer, good friends, and 15$ golf.
Super casual place, great company and fun events. Awesome driving range if your looking to hit some balls
Rates were good, greens were predictable, but the tee boxes werent the best maintained
Haystack is a family friendly 9 hole course. Easy to walk, greens need a little love. I recommend it and try to play there a hand full of times a year. Very low key.
Super friendly, just had time for a bucket.
Gentrified at the end of Sept.
Very fun if There is no slow play
This is a wonderful, laid-back 9 Hole course. Its short, and easy to walk. There are no motorized carts available. if youre a serious golfer with a single-digit handicap you might not enjoy this course. But for the Casual golfer who enjoys a low pressure pace and beautiful views, this is the course for you.
This time of year, you can expect to get bit up entirely by the swarms of mosquitos that they are doing no mosquito abatement to control. Its absolutely terrible and unhealthy and no fun whatsoever! Stay away until the temps cool down and the mosquitos go away.
Brought back great memories, of golf with my Dad. Love this place.
Great 9-hole golf course. Easy to walk and fun to play. Cost was very reasonable.
Love this little course, very low key, greens need a little work, but otherwise great
I love haystack, it is not a super nice course, do not expect it to be. What it is, is a great comfortable place to hang out. Grass range, 9 holes, beautiful views, neighborhood feel. If you are looking for a country club, this is not it, this is a fantastic place to learn without pretension. You are welcome here. They are always good people. Ive met some very nice people while playing 9 as a single as well.
This is a low key, short 9 hole golf course. There are no carts, so everyone walks. Theres a gazebo after 5 holes with water and shade that makes for a good rest spot. There are drivable par 4 holes, if you like that sort of thing. Repeat 9s are $5.
Cute little place, grabbed a bucket of balls and headed out to the driving range. It was a little chilly so we had the place to ourselves took us about 1.5 hours to hit our small bucket at the multiple flags provided. I cant wait to try out the course.
This is one happening and popular place for 9 hole golf and a social meeting place. Wednesdays they have $5 meal deals between 4pm and 7pm a good band is playing and lots of social interaction.
Awesome casual place to hit some balls and have a good beer.
This is a great beginners course. Its not the most manicured but the fairways and greens are in decent shape and definitely playable. Theres a beautiful creek that runs through the course. The course favors a right-to-left shot shape. For average length hitters, leave your driver at home. A good selection of clubs would be a 3w/driving iron and all your clubs < 160 yards. Im looking forward to taking my son here when hes old enough.
My favorite 9 hole course. I love it there and its here to stay. Everyone that works there is awesome and very hospitable!!! I love everything about Haystack!!
Worst course I have played. Greens are dead and basically dirt. Fairway too long, no tee times so you get stuck behind a group of 4 terrible old golfers. Overpriced range balls like a Lage bucket of balls Is 9 dollars for a bunch of cracked balls
Great little course especially for beginners. There are no golf carts which is refreshing for a slower off the tee guy like me. Nice wide open sightlines and some fun shots. The clubhouse is nice and the staff is always accommodating. Highly recommend this for a nice 9 hole course.
Love haystack for their laid back clubhouse and low pressure course. I always feel welcome. Be sure to grab a beverage from the full bar before you hit a bucket or play 9. The bartenders are always on point.
This is a good place to go if you rarely play golf and you just want to mess around for a couple of hours. But in terms of golf course quality it is not a good course especially for a more experienced golfer.
Great place to play golf. Nicest 9 hole course I can imagine. And very friendly accommodating owners. Highly recommend.
Great place for beginners or a quick round! Cant wait to try glow in the dark golf!
I got a coupon for some free buckets of balls giving me an excuse to learn how to swing a club. The rest of the family got involved when Becky welcomed my teens to the class. She was great, Haystack is chill, and we enjoy hitting balls on Wednesday grill night which we have since discovered. This has been a really great place to get started in a sport which can be intimidating. It has been fun to learn as a family.
Haystack is a course to play when you just want to have fun.Pretty layout along Left Hand Creek takes advantage of all of the natural hazards .No serious golf here, just fun.
Great family golf course. Plays fairly slow, and the course is short, but its really fun. Very friendly staff and reasonably priced. Bring bug spray in the summer!
Everyone learns to play golf at Haystack.
Good vibes. Poor grass.
The facility is nice and its pretty unique and beautiful. The issue I have is the mid 30s guy that works the counter. Unmannerly is a word I would use. Discourteous and rude are better words. I know Colorado is full of snobs and elitist types so I should be used to it but I never am. Maybe he feels as though his life has peaked and working behind the counter is as good as it is going to get.EDIT.. came back and there was another younger man behind the counter that was quite pleasant. Im not sure if people realize how much difference a pleasant person can make on their staff. The second most recent post was dropped literally within hours of my review..... so, take that as you will. Healthy skepticism is always a good thing to have. Not saying it was one of the staff that works there or someone else but....... never know....Took it up the 3 stars. Get rid of Captain Too Cool For Schools attitude and she gets bumped up to a 5 star. Place is really pretty.
Unique and secluded. Super friendly staff. Walk on, no reserved tee times but seldom much of a wait! Golf pro on staff, great driving range, nice old clubhouse with bar and grill. Six Stars!
Great place, beautiful location, fun course, but they need to get their mowers out earlier and train them on etiquette.
No tee times. So if you like to wait 20 minutes at every tee box to shoot behind inconsiderate, fat, unathletic golfers this is the place to go.
It was great today. The course did well over the winter. No food at the grill yet. Bag of chips and a beer was it.
Played here since the 70s always a fun place first time this year at this course the sad news is not kept up at all the fairways are the same as the ruff the greens are close to putting on a gravel road this is just a shame staff is friendly but had a beer afterward best by date was October of 17 hope it changes this was a great family run business
Great course for a quick 9 holes, no frills, walking only.
Beautiful course. Good food.
Priced right, but the greens need a lot of work
Economical and beginner friendly. Staff and owners are very nice and helpful. Do bring your mosquito repellent!
This was a good time even though there is no cart rental. Beautiful courses long fairways but fast greens.
Great fun at the driving range.
Tiny course, treat it like a Par 3, but nice people and its only $15 to walk 9 right in Boulder county. Not a challenging course but way better than any town course around here.
We had our wedding here and they were top notch! Excellent in every way
Great place for a casual 9 hole game! Most of the holes are on the short side so its more accessible for less experienced golfers, and the prices are very good!
My boyfriend and I went to Haystack for the first time yesterday. I am a beginner golfer and he has been playing for many years. This course is perfect for us. The holes are anywhere from 150-400 yards is my guess. They run around a par 3 and its actually achievable on some for a beginner! The course in its emtirety is beautiful, lots of water and its like a true walk through the woods💚The clubhouse is darling with an indoor area, a sunroom and outdoor seating area all around the driving range and with a great view of Haystack mountain. They have grill night on Wednesdays, girls night Tuesdays and very affordable weekemd rounds. We even joined the Mug Club which is a fun thing they offer for regular golfers to sign up for! You get an engraved mug on the wall amd $1 off all Drinks for the year and you get to keep ypur mugat the end of the year!Anyways, great
A great, laid back 9 holes. Best price in the front range with friendly, helpful staff.
Great Golf Course 4 families and beginners! Excellent driving range, maybe best in town.
Hayhack, best place for golfers of all ages and experience levels! Easy walking and beautiful scenery!
Good executive length course to keep your game up
The greens were not very well taken care of. For how much it costs it should be in better condition.
Most fun place to play golf in the front range
WORST GREENS IVE EVER SEEN, BUT FOR 10$ YOU CANT BEAT IT
Nice low profile small course. Good place.
What a great place to golf!
Shorter local course, with lots of charm and good people.
Awesome local course, no carts, beautiful view and setting. You can almost always get a tee time.
Great local course
Unique experience!
Cheap range, course needs tlc!
Great little golf course that will take care of u
Great conditions on the course.
Good time! Nice for beginner golfers.
Cheap 9 hole walking course with enough variety to keep the average golfer entertained. Par 32 with no par 5s.
My favorite all courseGreat owner and great employees!
A great place to get 9 holes in.
Great golf
One of my favorite places on the planet.
Great little golf course to walk 9.
Super laid back fun round of golf
Great local walking par 3 course
Fun executive course with low pressure.
