The mechanics here seem to be very good. They quickly isolated the source of the unusual problem with my 2009 Prius. And if you have to leave a VM here, someone actually calls you back promptly, unlike my experiences with other places for Toyota service. The appearance of their facility and location are not fancy, but are effective. Ill be coming back here for my future needs for automotive service.

I needed to get my brake pads replaced. This business came highly recommended. The owner gave me and my toddler a ride back to my house and noticed my toddlers bike had a flat. I told him as a single mom I dont have time to fix it. He took it from me and told me he would fix it! Seriously! In addition to fixing my breaks in a timly fashion (something the dealership wont do) and charging me less than the dealership, my son didnt have to wait weeks to get his bike back! I love giving to local businesses, they always give back. Thank you so much!

It is so helpful for me to have the same people work on my car and know it is fixed the right way the first time. They keep me able to stay busy and on the road, I cannot recommend them enough!

I took my 10 year old car into Carworks because something was WRONG. They diagnosed my car, then Troy called me to tell me what they found. They also sent a clear report by text message that I could see. Turns out, my transmission needed flushed, my oil needed to be changed, along with some other fluids. Long story, short - they really took care of me, and did not take advantage of me. They were very honest! I have met the owner, Steve Smith, and he is a really nice guy who knows a lot about cars. He has been doing this for a long time. I will highly recommend Carworks to all my family & friends (and people searching for a car repair shop on Facebook). Thanks, Danielle

I grew up in a small town where I could always rely on my auto repair shop to take care of me while also not taking advantage of me. When I moved to Longmont, I decided I wanted someone who was a local, small business owner to take care of my car. I met Steve, and realized how professional and charismatic he is and felt safe taking my car to his shop. It was a wonderful experience. His staff are all very friendly and helpful. You can hear the smile in Gregs voice when he answers the phone, and he can answer all questions you have. They dont take advantage of you, they inform you of what needs to be done, and help you make the best decision for what you can afford/what you need. I highly recommend CarWorks! Its where we take all of our cars!

I’ll start by saying I decided on this shop after reading reviews that said everyone was very honest. That’s most important to me when getting my car worked on. Everyone was friendly and seemed to be really interested in taking care of our truck. We were told about 8 different problems, we got a lot fixed. One thing they told us multiple times was that something was wrong with our brakes. We told them to go ahead and do a brake flush to find out if that was the issue. Well we decided to get our brakes looked at by our dealership, come to find out a brake flush was never done. Which is extremely disappointing. I hate to have to leave a bad review as everyone seemed to be honest but facts don’t lie and our brake flush that we were charged for wasn’t even done. Almost seems like they wanted to bait us into having to come back and get more work done. Hopefully that’s not the case but a little scary when you’re dealing with brakes in the snow.

Had a great experience with Steve and his team!!! Steve kept me up to date with multiple phone calls as he discovered the issue. Originally he was thinking it was about a $1500 issue and then the second phone call after Id given him the go ahead was to tell me after taking it apart further, a different cause was found and was less than half the cost to fix. He could have easily never said anything and Id never know but he was honest and happy to help. He also did a once over and ran diagnostics to make sure everything was in the best working order and consulted with me about everything before just doing and charging later. He was honest that my battery was still good but just barely. He said I could get more life out of it if I chose to wait, but I dont want to be that girl in the parking lot with a dead battery and we got that handled. I appreciate everything! Ive been a customer of Carworks since August of 2001. I appreciate the excellent service and positive, friendly environment. They always call and explain what needs to be done to my car and how much it will cost before they do the work. They discuss possible options with me, and if there is a decision to be made about doing the repair at the time or if it can safely wait for awhile, they explain that. I trust Carworks because they are reasonable in cost, fair, and honest with me. Theyve never repaired something that doesnt need to be repaired. They go the extra mile to make me feel like a valued customer. And they have really kept my car in good mechanical condition. Ive brought my cars to Carworks on a number of occasions for a variety of repairs and maintenance as well as complete inspections. They have always been extremely professional. They explain everything they find clearly and concisely, and they charge fair rates. In one case, my hybrid Camry needed one of its batteries replaced. Toyota is the only company that makes the type of battery, and the cost of the part from Toyota was around $600. The folks at Carworks explained how they could rig a normal battery to work, the repair cost me about $200 including the battery, and the car is running fine. Carworks has my full confidence in their integrity and ability.

They were very busy, but said theyd have it ready the next day. They also checked the a/c and it needed a little work. The car was ready in a timely manner the next morning. As always, they didnt overcharge me. They always listen carefully to concerns, and dont do anything they havent cleared with me first, and told me how much it will cost. Tend to price gouge. I brought my 2003 Hyundai to Carworks. In the past they quoted the best competitive price to replace my front axles and they did a good job. This time, my radiatorwas overheating. They said that they would charge $120 to do a diagnostic on the cooling system. They took off the radiator cap and tried to attach their pressure tester but it would not hold because the radiator was too worn with corrosion and gunk. They said that I would need a new radiator and then would be able to determine if I needed anything else. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THEY WANTED $576 TO REPLACE MY RADIATOR WHICH WAS OVER $225 MORE THAN THEIR MOST EXPENSIVE COMPETITOR. Competitors ranged from $275 to $350...All reputable local Longmont shops. I cancelled the job and brought it to a competitor down the street. When I picked up my car, at first they wanted to charge me $99 for simply taking the car into the shop, taking off the radiator cap and attaching a pressure tester. 15 min of their time.I convinced Steve that this was excessive and they backed down to ~$67 (still a rip off in my opinion) Mark, the service mgr. was the one I dealt with most of the time. Every time I challenged him on how much he was charging me, he kept replying: We are in business to make money And that is very true they were excessively greedy in this case and give the impression that they will milk you for whatever they can get.

In my many years of car ownership I have never, and I do mean never, felt as trusting of auto service centers as I do CarWorks, since they started servicing my car in 2013. Sure it has to do with Steves personal high standards, but giving credit where credit is due, the staff is top shelf.I recently spoke to Mark about the required 90,000 mile service on my Subaru. Mark researched to see if any of the services previously had been done and clearly explained what was done and what needs to be done soon, but not urgently. In these times when money-grabbing appears to be the motivation for many businesses, Mark is motivated to service your clients and retain them. My interactions with every one Ive met at CarWorks are positive. Im your loyal client forever.

Review №61

Both employees I spoke with were highly condescending and unhelpful. I had an appointment for 8 AM, and they didnt look at my car until about 1 PM. My check engine light came on, and I was charged $85 to diagnose the problem. This diagnosis consists of plugging a code reader into the dash and interpreting the code. I thought the price was excessive, but it might be about standard for car repair shops. However, the mechanic claimed I needed a new thermostat and coolant temperature sensor. First of all, there was no evidence that the sensor was broken, so this seemed like an unnecessary repair. But even if I did need a new sensor, I was still lied to. I was told the sensor would cost $80 and the thermostat $40. Anyone can verify online that these prices are outrageous. I was able to find the parts for $25, and $10, respectively. They also intended to charge me $200 for the repair labor. I looked on YouTube, and the repairs each take about 2 minutes, provided you have a socket wrench.I saved about $250 by declining the repairs offered at this shop, and I could have saved another $60 by just purchasing a code reader myself. I know it is relatively typical to overcharge at a repair shop, but the overcharging combined with the rudeness of the employees will keep me from ever returning to Carworks of Longmont.
