Babettes still makes the best sandwich in town. The fresh baked French bread is so perfectly soft on the inside but crusty enough on the outside to scrape the roof of your mouth. Their desserts are killer, their soups are bomb. They been in the same spot forever, and it’s still amazing. It’s in the hood, but I love that they’re still IN and invested in the neighborhood.
I was a first time customer this morning. Excellent covid protocol, nice display cabinets and a good selection of bread and pastries. The staff was kind and welcoming. We just had the sliced sourdough loaf for lunch and it was awesome. The Australians would call this bakery good value, which means the quality for the price you pay is soooooo worth while. Now I know why there was a line to enter. My new go to bakery!!!It was fun riding my bike with baguettes sticking out of my backpack, ...reminiscing about France.
Great pastries and cookies. Their bread is wonderful. Their sandwiches are great. Their quiches are great. You cannot go wrong.
Babettes is always a delight. Fresh food, great sandwiches, pastries, desserts and salads, and nice people behind the counter.
I came here a while ago and liked it, but did not go back after. When a guest brought me a delicious Mango Mouse Cake I was wondering why… The base of the Mango Mouse Cake is of juicy, soft sponge cake featuring a crunchy, caramelized surrounding. The mouse is very light and no too sweet, having just the right amount of mango taste. The goodness is topped with a juicy peach and strawberry. So yummy that my new year’s resolution is to come back more often.
The tart crust is light, flaky and buttery but melts in your mouth. This is the best gift or end to a delicious meal. I also tried the Chocolate croissant, it is very light, rich buttery smell and very flaky, the way it should be. It is not overly sweet just amazing :)
Fast customer service need more healthy options!
I was there this morning 8/27/2021 and I ordered Chicken Chipotle Panini and the girl who attended me she give Chicken Pesto Panini then i told her that i dont eat cheese so She told me that ordered Chicken Pesto. So i give back the panini and She didnt give back my money. $7.45 She not even say sorry for her mistake this one it was the second time..The first time i order Chicken Chipotle and i was waiting for about 35 minutes to get my Panini. I think both girl are new employees.I have no complain with the food. I love the food there and i recomend a lot people but this second time I was very disappointed.
I love this place so much. They have the most amazing French bread rolls in all of LA county, AND they are only $.60 each! I drive from Hawthorne to long Beach especially for them. Also ordered quiche and pot pies this time and they were also delicious. Any of the desserts are beautiful and tasty. There is usually a line, especially around the holidays so order ahead or be prepared to wait (I promise its worth it).
Great bakery goods and deli type foods.
Delicious Im telling you this is the place to go
The staff is very nice and gave info on several dishes they have. I wanted a French Macaroon they didnt have coconut so I got hazelnut. Tried 1 it was very sweet. I also got coconut macaroons it was not done in the middle. Maybe its suppose to be gooey in the middle. EVERY BAKERY IS DIFFERENT. The Butter croissant was very tasty. I will try a different dish again!
They have very good foodAnd bread.
Small place with a decent menu and assortment of pastries. Fairly priced, easy lot parking, and maybe 8 or so tables for 4. Still need to go back to try other things. Order in the middle.Small fruit tart was good as was the chicken salad. Under $8 total, picked out the raisins from the salad because raisins are just gross. Come give them a visit.
European Bakery in Central Long Beach Great breakfast sandwiches pastries quiches and Cakes
My wife has been craving for a fresh chocolate croissant. I randomly searched for a french bakery near me and Babette was the first listing. We decided to check it out based on the number of stars and reviews. We arrived too late in the day and the chocolate croissants were sold out, but we decided to buy a sampling of different bakery and breakfast items. Everything was delicious and we will be going back soon, earlier in the day, for that chocolate croissant!
I love this bakery so much I always buy the three milk cake for every birthday its so good I highly recommend sadly I move to ridgecrest the only thing I miss from long beach is this bakery hope in the future u guys put a bakery over here at ridgecrest ca 😊🥰
I love this place, the food is great and the staff very friendly. It is my favorite bakery.
This is a hidden gem in Long beach. The bread is very fresh and will harden fast, which means it has no additives. The croissant and the pain au chocolat are buttery and flacky and took me back to Paris. They also serve breakfast items such as quiches and have a nice seating area for about 20-25 person.Definitely a place to try
Their garlic bread... 🤤
They are closed on Mondays now, the hours might have changed due to the pandemic. The quality is still great, my daughters love the macarons.
A wonderful place for a bite of breakfast! The pastries are so beautiful and sandwiches so tasty on deliciously fresh-made bread. Theres even a lovely selection of quiches Ive never before seen. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Were so glad we stumbled on this great place. Be sure to give their omelettes a try--served with the best potatoes, you wont regret it!!
The ONLY authentic French Boulangerie & Patisserie & Café (closed now for COVID-19 -- only indoor café is closed) in LA that is AFFORDABLE.We have been loyal customers since 2000.We now in Arcadia - 20 miles away but still shop there once a week for:Croissant ($1.75 ea.) & Baguette ($1.75).
My family, we love it and the employees are very kind, thank you
The place is very nice and by the line of people waiting outside it is obvious that it has good reputation but the eggs and cheese sandwich we ordered was very dull. The eggs were made from can, had no taste and had the texture of a flan. Really bad. Brar claw was also very dull with very little filling in it. Coffee, and some other pastries that we took were good.
Home away from home. Great service and really nce food. Go to place if you are in the area
Always great pastries and meals also. Best bakery in Long Beach. Come try the fantastic quiches among many other favorites.
Such a good red velvet cake!
Thank for all the good food and customer service
Enjoy different pa$tries mad daily!
People are cool... and everything on their menu is great !
Great serbice
The best bakery in long beach, I love it
I went to buy a cheesecake for my brothers birthday party since a friend reffered me to this place. Long story short I buy a chocolate cheesecake, but end up not being a cheesecake. One, she charges me 29.99 for the dam cake, I didnt find out till we cut the cake and buy that time it was too late.Im call the owner of the bakery next day and tell her my story and she just starts telling me that it was a cheesecake and thats how there cheesecakes are.I told her the cake was no cheesecake and she kept contradicting me. I got sooo mad that this lady would actually make me think otherwise.Beware of this place I rather go somewhere else and I wont be going to this place anymore.
Fantastic salads, sandwiches and the best desserts in town!
Nice variety of authentic French bakery goods and local favorites. Cozy interior with seating for meals or meeting for coffee. Quiches are tasty and the salads and pastas are also great choices. Get some baguettes or rolls to go, you know you need a loaf of bread at home!
A very popular hole in the wall bakery. All looks so yummy as you walk in. I ordered a tuna sandwich and it was delicious plus I couldnt resist their macaroons and napoleon dessert. A must place to visit while in Long Beach.
Great Staff Serving The Community.
Love the pastries and food. Guaranteed fresh everyday. Highly recommend this place, I worked here so I know everything is made daily and very tasteful. Expect lines because people know its worth it. Staff is at the outmost friendly and helpful.
This Bakery Believes In Serving The Community Great Baked Items.
One word, unbelievably Awesome. Ok maybe two words
The Raspberry Opera is delicious and the Russian tea cookies also. However I didnt enjoy the Philly cheese steak sandwich because they had cheddar cheese in it.
Excellent food too!
Light and fresh and flavorful...
Grab their fresh french rolls and baguettes! Their sandwhiches and fruit tarts are awesome
I like this place for a quick lunch, they have sandwiches, soups, I lie the lentil and sausage soup, very tasty. And they have great pastries. And their specialty baguettes. My suggestion to the owner would be to clean the place better, the glass front door should be clean everyday in and out. And their glass displays., and to make sure all the people working have hair nets, including the older ladies that dont wear uniform (possible owners). But all of them should wear nets, and their clothes should be clean.
Got good sandwiches and other stuff.
Awesome bakery! It is a diamond in an old run down shopping center. I have ordered many things there and not one complaint on my variety of food. They make an awesome French Onion soup!
They did not have the Asian meatballs that I specifically came for. It has actually been discontinued for awhile. They should update their menu.... its still on their blackboard. How hard is it to wipe it off? Their pdf menu is also outdated.Updated: They updated the menu. Fast response.
Best sandwiches and bread in town
This has been my favorite sandwich place in Long Beach for many years. Delicious bread is the reason, Im sure! Im not a big fan of some other dishes, like the mushroom soup, but think thats just a matter of personal taste. They used to offer meringue treats but not so much now. I think they can be ordered ahead though. Theyre my favorite after sandwich treat! Very tasty yet low in calories.
Cant say anything about the food but the service was a bit off. I simply inquired about what cakes were available and the lady says these. However they werent labeled nor any visible indication as to what they were other than cakes. Then she with little to no enthusiasm began to casually describe the cakes. Maybe next time🤔
It was ok, they stop selling my favorite muffin, which brought me there a year ago, the apple cinnamon one
...delicious and fresh, price is very affordable. service is great,((Belen)) was the lady who took our order and she was amazing. the place is clean and fresh which is a must...!!! ☆☆☆☆☆
Oh my goodness!!! This is your hole in the wall bakery. You would never think there is such a great place in that location.Everything I’ve tried is great and freshStaff are so welcoming and friendlyDefinitely a very warm place makes you want to stay or go over and over again.
Always qualify baked goods!! Almond croissant is a must.
Great staff great pastries.
Just goodies 😋🍝🍰🎂🍪🥧☕🍮
Best bread in town. The rolls are made every morning. And all afternoon.Sandwiches are delicious.Friendly customer service. Will go back, 😁
Great place to eat the sandwiches are so delicious pastrami sandwich 🥪 yummy.
This place is delicious. A wonderful variety of Bakery items. They also have lasagna, quiche, Delicious Fruit Salad. Fresh baked bread. The dining area is very small as most of their businesses take out. I have not gotten a single thing there that I did not like. Everything is delicious. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is clean.
Great French bakery/cafe. Very friendly staff and the food is delicious. The sweet bread and pastries are amazing
Being not from the area and on foot I panicked and grabbed 1st place I saw which was Burger King. While recovering I found Babette Bakery. I tried not to look at the mouth watering breakfast fare around me. I had a couple of very flavorful pastries. SUPERB! Clean and crisp with friendly service.
This is truly an wonderful, authentic French bakery with exquisite croissants, desserts, muffins and pastries. The lunch and dinner choices that Ive ordered are great too. A divine respite of really great food in the midst of an urban experience. A lovely woman with a French accent named Babette really does own & operate this restaurant and the Belmont Shores location.
Yum! We visited a few times for baked goods, breakfast and coffee during our stay in the neighborhood. Everything was delicious! The breakfast bowl was a huge portion and the biscuits were just like the ones in the South. Coffee cake soooo good! Pop tart too! Friendly staff and reasonably priced.
I have loved this place since I was a child in elementary walking by and using my sback money to get a treat on my walk home. The staff have always been amazing. Jay is definitely a stand out person their nowadays and is truly a warm and inviting hostess as she makes you feel at home! People like her really make the treats that much more delightful. Lines are usually out the door, but service is quick and food is worth it!
The Bakery to go to for original, delicious fine pastry and French dinner rolls. The service is great, they have enough personnel to quickly assist their customers. I have been a client of Babette Bakery for about a decade I have recommended this place to at least two dozens of my friends and family...love their cheese cake.
Variety and more variety! You gotta try everything they offer on the menu! 😀
Four starts only because its not what I was expecting as far as bakeries go. Not a variety of cakes available, but they have a lot of other things. The cake we purchased was delicious! Neighborhood is a bit sketch, but not enough to put you off from visiting.
Babettes Bakery would take all my checks, because all i did was eat every single iteam on the menu. Literally! They were that Amazing! From their unbelivably mouth watering sandwiches, to tasty desserts, that if you drank with a cappuccino, latte or espresso would literally feel as though your in the heart of France, to their most famous baguette breads that owners of other restraunts all over town would order hundreds of, because no other place could compete with such quality and taste. Without a shadow of a doubt the best bakery in Long Beach, California. As a previous employee of Babettes Bakery, i can honestly say ive never seen as hands on owners as Christian & Elizabeth. They always made time to engage with customers, humble, and always open to suggestions, constantly in kitchen revising or concocting a new dish to add to the menu. Making sure employees were thoroughly knowledgable on the ingredients and in the process of retaining this information encouraged to continue learning and growing with the business. They were amazing! If me and my family hadnt moved to Las Vegas i know i would still be there. But every trip back to Long Beach Babettes Bakery is number 1 place to be. You wont be disappointed.
I love the macaroons
This place never disappoints. Every single item on the menu is uniquely delicious, even the coffee is fantastic. Try it you can thank me later.
Aside from being in the not so nice part of town, this café is cozy, has plenty of pastries to choose from and staff is pretty friendly.
My wifes order was not ready for us to pick up she placed the order a week ago so we had to wait for them that ready suck very disappointed
Busy place. Overdressed salads & pastas. Counter help busy so go there with flexibility. Overall a cute place with lots of good menu choices.
Ordered a bear claw that turned out to be the best almond croissant I ever had. Why does it have to be so far away?
Our French teacher got us a variety of food for our potluck and I can’t fathom how good everything is. I’ll definitely start coming here!
Love there pastries..yummy..strawberry tart.and there oatmeal raisin cookies, cinnamon twists. I get alot from there. Nice spot to go too..
Best Bakery in Southern California!Best pastries, Best breads, Best veggie sandwiches, Best prices!Long live Babette’s
Sell many kinds of breads, deserts, and breakfast.. most items Ive tried were pretty good. The best thing is they baked those breads daily. The workers are friendly and helpful.
Nice
You can get all your bread and pastries needs here, from fresh Baggett Birthday Cakes, Cookies, Tarts and lots more, I should know I use to work there. And tell them that QUINCY sent you.
Awesome and tasty food, I like the vibes the place has, and the cashiers were friendly. Will surely come back in the future.
If you have never stopped by this unassuming bakery, give it a try. The baked goods are excellent and their cafe has delicious soups and sandwiches.
The best Pan Franceses (French rolls), to make Panes de Chúmpe
Good food
Bread is delicious specially when is barely out of the oven just bread and butter will please you
Small place with the most delicious menu. The pastries and the bread are so delicious. Highly recommended.
Service is great right as you come into the door. Lines are formed all the way out the door sometimes, because it is that great. Pastries are awesome and made freshly everyday. I had a panini one day and my mother had a chicken rice veggie soup, we both enjoyed our lunch. Servings are big and you arent left hungry.
The best bread and cakes for miles around. Their entrees are also really good. Would recommend to anyone who likes food or eating delicious thinga
Dont let the outside fool you! This place has so much to offer. :)Its unique and delicious. If you love sweet stuff, is a must GO.
