I’ve come a couple times and the espresso is really burnt. I really want to like it but I’m disappointed with the latte I end up with. Place is cute and I haven’t tried their food.

Used to be a great place to get coffee. Today the cashier at the front was rushing me to order, and was very short with me when I asked her questions. The kitchen either never was given or had forgotten my order, so 30 minutes after ordering avocado toast I followed up and was told it would be 5 minutes. 10 minutes later I follow up again and am told it still hadnt even been started yet (I was SO hungry at this point that it really upset me). The cashier who rung me up seemed careless about it, neither her or the lady (who I assume was supervising) even thought to apologize for the failed service. The cook even looked unfriendly, so I just requested a refund and left. 5th Ave Bagelry is my new go to. Their food is better, less costly, and it comes out quicker. Its fresher, and its served to you by people with a smile on their face who are actually happy that you are there spending your hard earned money.

I first discovered The Village Grind about five years ago when I was driving around the area coming from a meeting with my boss at the time. I saw coffee and I pulled over and every once I while when I so happened to be in the area, usually after these meetings with my boss, I would stop by. Lately, Ive been stopping in a lot more frequently. The flavor of a regular drip is not as bold as Im used to but is still good. But what I like most about this spot is not so much the flavor and strength of the coffee... Its the staff, the atmosphere, and the soyrizo burrito that keep me coming back. There are a number of employees that have helped me whenever Ive come into this establishment and every time the experience has always been great. All of them have been very friendly and worked hard to get all of the customers what they want as quickly as possible. I must admit that there have been times that Ive waiting longer for a cup of coffee than I would at a Starbucks but these were times when they were slammed and there was only one person behind the counter taking orders and preparing drinks at the same time. The Village Grind is in the East Village of Long Beach so just walking up to the front door you get a sort of small town homely feeling without losing the urban-esque vibe. Once you walk in you get the impression that everyone is a regular because everyone looks so relaxed and at home. The staff engage in conversation with customers as if they are neighborhood friends. In some cases the customers really are neighborhood friends.I must admit... I had no idea that I was ordering a soy substitute when I first order the soyrizo and egg burrito. I thought I was having good old fashioned chorizo. It wasnt until I looked back at the menu afterwards that I realized that I had ordered soyrizo. Irregardless, the soyrizo burrito is really good! I have had it every Tuesday for the past three weeks and this week I had it on Wednesday too! The flavor is spot on with what I was expecting out of chorizo seasoning but it didnt leave me with that thick greasy feeling and I wasnt burping up chorizo all day... I am not into vegan, or organic, or vegetarian dishes but as a meat eater I was quite satisfied with the dish. I dont know if the eggs where real but that sure tasted real and the tortilla was perfect. In fact I think this might have been the best chorizo and egg burrito that I have ever had. Just based off of the flavors, textures, and scent, I dont think any of the ingredients were frozen or canned. The Village Grind is definitely a triple threat... Awesome staff... Awesome atmosphere... Awesome soyrizo burrito... I cant believe I just referred to soyrizo as awesome...Just beware... public restroom is not available. So if you plan to stay awhile be prepared to walk to the Courtyard Marriott which is adjacent to The Village Grind. At least thats were I sneak over to whenever nature calls.

$$ Amazingly affordable quality Cafe!Highly recommended by locals. Friendly staff and customers! Interior and exterior are dropping cool and cozy. The Grind is a favorite of locals, a place to return for the requisite recharge, a bohemian retreat to reconnect; the Grind is free-spirited and ready to provide you some space, ahhhh, space to enjoy the amazing illustrious radiance of you.The Cafe offers a lot, a good menu, lots of drink choices (I love the bottles of Ginger Lemonade.. two bottles worth), plenty of funk atmosphere as well as seating inside or out (street-side seating on trendy 2nd St in the Art District... come on, way cool).Location xs 3... I find the vibe of the Grind very hip, razor sharp, eclectic in high measure... did I say artistic; all of that and more!!! You are gonna like this one!The Grind is in the middle, a short walking distance to everything Long Beach has to offer. A good launching pad for your Long Beach adventures.Note: Reviews are mostly 5s.. well deserved!by cmilton111Google Guide3.14.2018

This should be a cool local place. The service is pretty bad, coffee takes the same time as your food. Some tasty vegan pastries and a couple of good vegetarian items on the menu are good.Although my last visit was a California wrap. Canned refried beans some clumpy (like powdered eggs) and a sliver of avacado on a flour tortilla. It was terrible.A cool looking place called the village grind should serve coffee and lattes with a smile in a flash. The barista is oblivious and rude.I always hold out for the local guys but this is my last visit.Other food Ive had here is Ok, but not great and the service of course does vary but overall average (or a little below).

This is based on the cold brew and nitro coffees. They were mellow with great rich flavor. The nitro had the cream texture you look for in a nitro, so they ticked that box. The staff is very friendly and there is pleasant outdoor seating.

Barista is slow and made the worst mochas Ive ever had.1. Barista needs to learn to multitask to make two drinks at once. A mocha and a white mocha should be easy to make at the same time.2. The mocha and white mocha were disgusting. Barista put so much simple syrup in it and it tasted like drinking splenda water. Threw out both drinks after one sipI will never be coming back here again and if you go, make sure you try your drink before leaving to make sure its not horrible.

This place has great food and is a must try if you are vegan. The muffins are amazing and the fact that they are vegan is a nice plus. They also have a wide variety of other vegan friendly options. There is also special prices on food items during happy hour which makes it well worth the trip. Great vibe, great service, great food.

Bacon was gross and had a rubbery taste. I left my sandwich and $15 for lunch behind. The baked goods look good. The staff needs to be friendly and know the product. I asked the girl if she was new and she said no but didn’t know what the baked items were. It was odd. Two stars vs one for presentation of baked goods though. I would try coffee not sandwiches.

Great food at a reasonable price. Drip coffee is good if they havent burned it or served it while it was brewing. Mixed espresso drinks are fine. Place gets busy. Not a lot of space here so dont bring a big party. Downtown Long Beach is pretty colorful, too, so expect to meet some interesting local urchins.

Food runs on the expensive side but is almost always worth it. Coffee is good, cold brew is great! Really strong sometimes, so drink with caution. The lattes can be sweet, so if youre not wanting that Id tell them not too sweet beforehand. This is all served in a very laid back atmosphere by friendly staff. Also they have Mountain Dew Throwback! Im considering going five stars just for the can and bottle selection... Ill have to think about it. The coffee varies a bit too much based on who makes it.

The Village Grind has a lovely atmosphere and is tucked away in a small and friendly neighborhood downtown Long Beach. Food menu is fairly simple, but also has various new and amazing things to try. Portions are very good for the price, you can really taste and feel the love they put into their products. I had the chipotle wrap which was the perfect balance of spicy and crispness from the veggies. For my drink I was stumped on what to pick because of all the new and delicious options to choose from. So I ended up getting a banana chai, which was phenomenal. My complaint about other drink locations is they sometimes are bland and feel watered down. Not here, my drink was bursting with flavor and was perfectly blended. The staff is friendly, very down to earth and makes sure you onlu have the best of experiences. Big thankyou Village Grind, Nancy & Geena, keep up the great work😊
