I was visiting Mom for the holiday. I hadnt seen her since June. She loves to go to lunch at several little cafes around town. Two of them are closed on Mondays so we took a chance on Grounds.The person outside breaking down tables was super snarky. She acted put upon and like we were stupid because didnt realize they were closing an hour early for Labor Day. It seemed like she was mad to be working on a holiday at all.I felt bad/embarrassed because I worked in restaurants when I was a young person. It sucks to work on holidays when everyone else is at the beach or having barbecues. And I try not to be a customer that arrives right before closing because I know that the faster the staff can clean the kitchen and dining room, the sooner they can go have fun. Mom and I got there about 1:25-ish so we werent being complete jerks.We ordered sandwiches, chips, and pastries for take out. The cashier was friendly. I loved the her pink mermaid hair. It suits her perfectly. The manager was funny and joked with Mom. Mom is pushing 92, so Im always grateful when servers and retail folks are kind and patient with her. The food was prepared quickly and correctly and we were on our way. Yay!At home, we devoured the sandwiches, chips, and sodas. It was nearly 2 p.m. and we didnt realize how hungry we were. The sandwiches were yummy. Theyre just like the sandwiches you wish you could make for yourself at home but you dont want to keep the squaw bread, produce and condiments on hand all the time.The pastries we had the following morning with our coffee were really good too. The chocolate croissant is EXTRA special because its not all bread like most places serve and has a dusting of happy powdered sugar. 😊RECOMMEND

We are creatures of habit. I started going to Grounds after having a business meeting there - we had lunch and the entire store was a vibe. It truly feels like Grounds is a place for the community!!!I now go to grounds bakery often before frisbee golfing at El Dorado Park and because of the Pandemic, I began to phone in my small and short order so I could be in and out! And Im so glad I phone in because I learned someone else amazing out them! One of the things that I have come to love about Grounds is their personable and friendly care for their customers. Upon ordering on the phone, they know my name and that means a lot to me!Their food is fresh, their spread is delicious, and their coffee is great. I hope to grow old continuing to order from Grounds and to pass on the tradition of eating their food before frolfing to my children!!

This place has great food and great service. My favorite is the vegetable sandwich on dark squaw bread, but they have many other options. Their on-site made desserts are excellent.

Grounds bakery is the cutest place! its a great place to get some treats before i start my day! the customer service is phenomenal! i know of one worker there i so happened to catch her name and its Taylor! shes such a people person and has a bubbly personality! such a great fit for grounds bakery !!

Ive driven by Grounds for years and have always wanted to try it. Finally got around to it last year when the pandemic started, so while Ive only ever done take out, Ive gotten to try a good variety of things on their menu and have enjoyed everything Ive had so far. The staff are always wearing masks and gloves, and there is hand sanitizer available. Their coffee and lattes are always good, as are the pastries (love the muffins), bagels, sandwiches (the veggie is my fave), and pizza! I love my variety, and this is a great spot for that. What really sets Grounds apart is that not only is the food delish, but service is always friendly as well. I like that you can also order online through their website for pick up.

Grounds just gives me all the good vibes. The staff as a whole are very hard working people but I do have to give a shout-out to my cashier Taylor. She made me feel so welcome!! I will definitely be coming back very very soon!!

Great food. Very friendly staff. Wish I lived closer. Had a ham and cheese skillet. Ordered a ham and cheese sandwich on sourdough to eat for dinner. Oh, I also got a pumpkin muffin. Everything tasted 👍

Grounds has a few outdoor tables nicely spaced. You may order ahead, at a kiosk at the front of the restaurant, or. At the counter. They have a good system worked out. And, their food, coffee, and tea is good.

Grounds is my place to go for yummy bagels. They have a great variety. The bagels are thinner than at other places. So I dont feel like Im eating tons of carbs. The place is clean. The service is great good.

Its my favorite deli. A nice warm and friendly place with great service. The food is fantastic too, I love the Onion bagel with strawberry cream cheese. I also like the lunch options, my favorite being the Turkey cranberry cream cheese sandwich.

I made it a morning date and met up with my boyfriend for a quick breakfast. The waitress who took our order was great and very friendly. She took our order and even gave some recommendations. An added benefit was that the service was great and quick. We got our food quick after ordering and I still had time to enjoy my morning before work.

I’d give more stars if you had them ... the cashier to the table bussers are as friendly as can be. This place rock n rolls all week long.Why? Well it starts with the friendly “Welcome” when you walk in the door and then the bread, bagels, scones (love them scones) cup cakes and baked goods that mesmerize you with there many different delicious flavors. Yum 😋! Then you get this incredible aroma coming from the kitchen as the chef is busily preparing soups, cold and hot sandwiches, pizzas (yes!! Pizzas). Their coffee is amazing and there are several flavors to choose from including decaf. They’re all great.I would say this is Long Beach’s best kept secret that everyone is talking about. When it’s spot on; it’s spot on!!!P. S. Did I tell you they serve breakfast??!!??

My daughter & I love to frequent this local coffee / bakery on our weekly daddy-daughter date before her school day begins at Millikan HS. We like to share the avocado toast on sourdough. It is DELICIOUS!! The 4/5 stars is for the average quality of flavored coffee in a place named after coffee (so many good coffee shops in LB) & the occasional snippy response from a staff member (though most are friendly). Lots of seating (including a comfy meeting room) & regular locals here. Very wide variety of baked goods.

Their bagels are the best! Never thought a bagel would be so light and almost fluffy. So good. But their jalapeno cheddar cream cheese is the best cream cheese around.

Best Bagels n LBC. Gotta try the Toasted Spinach Bagel, Egg white w/cheese(& pepper). U can also get bagged fresh Bagels to go, great w/guests.

Really busy and because of this it takes too long to get even simple orders. Our order was for two almond croissants and it took about 10 minutes. That said, their croissants are really good so possibly worth the wait.Their egg dishes - I will just say this... dont go to a bakery for eggs.

The restaurant is clean, and the service is fast. They have so many choices for food as well as drinks. Everything is delicious. You can order all breakfast, with some popular lunch items as well. Keep in mind though, their portions are HUGE. So, if you eat breakfast or lunch there, I recommend not snacking beforehand and no snacking afterwards for at least three hours (lol).

The food is always fresh and tasty! You also get a good size serving of food. My kids love the breakfast sandwiches. In my opinion, the bagels are not your typical dense bagel, they are light, airy and delicious.

Bread is awesome. The yellowtail tuna is to die for. Their homemade soups and desserts are so yummy. This family owned business is always hopping, which is probably why the staff seem rushed. They are friendly nonetheless. If I want great food, this is where I go (unless I want a salad...salads could be better made).

Good quality food (sandwiches, bread and bagels ONLY, the rest is typical sugary fake crap) thats overpriced. Grounds just jacked their prices up again which is prompting me to write this review. Their service is OK but never really good - no proactive customer service. But their prices keep on going up while the size of their sandwiches decreases in turn. We place corporate lunch orders with them but I have been actively trying to find a different supplier.Grounds does so well as it has little competition in the area. Time for a competitive good sandwich place to open close by. Grounds obviously dont read their online reviews either. Disappointing.

They are quick and efficient with multiple ways to pay for their service from pre-order pay online, indoor kiosk, to the traditional wait your turn in line. They are friendly and offer a variety of tasty bakery items... oh and a wholesome breakfast and lunch if you desire.

My cashier asked me to move registers 3 times and had a really bad f my life attitude about her. But the rest of the staff seemed really nice. I ordered a tuna melt and instead received a tuna on toast. Only noticed once I got home. Nice place overall and will just have to try again.

The lady cashier was extremely rude. I asked a few questions and she got very upset. The mini chocolate cup cakes I ordered (6 were a few days old) and definitely not the 13 dollars I paid. I will not be going here anymore

Very friendly taking our order. Had a good smoothie, the Turkey avocado sandwich was good but bland. The BBQ pulled pork sandwich was good. I liked the pineapple slice on it. Disappointed that the potatoe and macaroni salads were not homemade.

Ordered delivery through Post-mates at 1:30 on a Monday, arrived at 2:30 in Orinoco Hill. This time I tried the CA Giants sandwich just to go with the theme of HOLY CRAP THE GIANTS WON FOR THE 3RD TIME IN 5 YEARS. Sandwich was still lukewarm and oh so so delicious. Thank you again, Ikes, for remaining a staple in my Long Beach diet and thank you delivery man for bringing it to me in all of its saucy glory.

Asked for double cup for my coffee cup, reluctantly gave after telling me they have cup holder and myninsistence prefer double cup. Ordered two muffins, bagels, cr. cheese. They forgot one of the muffins, I had to dou le checknorder, show receipt paid for and got muffin. The single serve cr cheese so small (1Tbsp) over priced and didnt even cover entire bagel. Prices are really high, though everything is very fresh which is niceIts just that you can feel stress of employees and tension from owners who clearly run tight ship. Doesnt feel as relaxed as I remember in past years. Its a bummer bc food is good.

They over charge for what you get. Word of caution- dont divert from the menu & ask for anything special or ask for toppings on the side - it throws them off completely. & they havea habit of loosing your order tickets. So.... you might not get what you ordered anyways

This is a popular place to hang out, but most of their coffee is flavored. The plain coffee that I bought is probably prepared on the same equipment as the flavored coffee, because it also had that bitter aftertaste that flavored coffee has. I had to pour it out.

Nice place hours are somewhat odd so always check to make sure they are open. Lots of breads and sandwiches and some desserts. Nice staff and good service. The crowd is young and old

Ive been coming here for many years. They have a great variety of coffee flavors. The pastries are always fresh so are the sandwiches. They are busiest in the mornings.
