Spent multiple days researching and reading reviews of a shop that can fix my blown mt82 transmission. These guys had the most positive reviews and almost non existent negative reviews. They have been around for a LONG time and their lot had a variety of cars telling me they can work on any car. My car was fixed in a quick matter and with their own warranty and guarantee when done. If you always wanted a go to shop or always wanted to tell a friend I have a guy, this is your place.

JEEP SRT8 fixed on 1/2021 At first i taught it was my transmission but after talking to jake he explained the whole procedure and lucky for me they were honest about the actual problem my truck had. If i would of took it somewhere else they problaby would of said it was the transmission and would of charge me double the price. I would highly recommend them. My problem was the transfer case on my jeep srt8. Havent had a problem ever since. I am about to take in my other truck for service there too 👍🏼💯

Brought my car to this shop waited till about almost 3pm to advise me that they werent capable to do this project which consisted of adding modified brake parts.(it wasnt essential to add those parts I mainly needed my brakes checked out which was made clear. ) I was then told of another shop that could do the job ! I had no qualms with this, where the problem arose is when I arrived to check on my car to decide what I wanted to do I was told to take it to that shop down the street ! My point is that I understood that the modifications couldnt be done but I initially just bought my car there to have the brakes fixed and then I was pawned off to another shop ! Who does this I felt completely slighted especially after spending over 1600 dollars a couple of days before on another job on a different vehicle. The the main issue I had was that he didnt have any concern whatsoever for my safety after I had mentioned several times about my faulty brakes to at least as a courtesy offer a tow to the shop that he pawned my off on a real stand up guy.😏😒

What a great find this shop is. Their knowledge and experience in all areas of auto maintenance and repair is second to none. I have a 2002 Tahoe with 237,000 miles that continues to service me very well. I normally take the Tahoe along with a list of squawks to one of a few different local auto shops every 3000 to 4000 miles. Which shop would depend on the nature of the squawk/s. About 6 weeks ago I had what I thought was likely a transmission issue which I really didnt trust to my list of shops so went looking on-line for a transmission place. I found Stus and liked the reviews I read so gave it a go. The short of it is that they did a complete diagnostic health check of the total vehicle. That health check revealed that what I thought might be a transmission problem was really a mis-firing problem that occurred under load and that the transmission was working just fine with no issues. Their diagnostics also identified other more minor issues that I was not detecting but should be addressed since my goal is to keep the Tahoe running as good as I can as long as I can. I cannot report how very satisfying it is to have found a shop that I can trust to honestly diagnose the health of my autos and keep them good repair without having to monitor them. This is truly a shop that I trust has enough honesty and expertise to tell my wife to just take your car to them and do whatever they say needs be done and trust that they will know what issues might need attention and fix them, and by the way at a very very fair price and with the best available parts. I will be back for sure.

I was having trouble with AAMCO, so I towed my car here where I met with Jake and he was very friendly and understanding. Before coming here I spoke with Jose and explained to him that AAMCO said I had to get a new transmission or a rebuild. My D5 light was blinking after I had my mechanic fixed my rear main seal. Jose said it sounded like an electrical problem, that he would need my car for 1-2 days to find the problem. Two days later I get a call stating I had a broken cord that led to my transmission. He fixed it, he saved me from replacing a transmission that didnt need to ne replaced. I highly recommend this to anyone. Thank all of you for all of your help. I will be coming back if I have ever have a problem I cant figure out.

Stus AE Transmission has been in business for over 60 years but this is the first time I ever brought a vehicle there. My 2005 Jeep generated a Transmission Over Temp light a couple weeks ago. I took it to my normal service guy and he said he didnt do transmission work. He referred me to somewhere else but, I remembered Stus, having grown up just down the street from this facility. I took my vehicle there, explained that problem plus 3 other issues I was having. Tim was very patient and really listened to me. He never made me feel that my questions or concerns were stupid and explained all the technical car stuff in terms I could understand. I really thought he would say that I needed a whole transmission but, he said NO... lets try some less extensive (and less expensive) options first. Stus was able to fix all my issues for a very reasonable cost. Although my car was there a while as they are extremely busy, they called several times proactively to let me know what was going on. I said no hurry since I had another car and told them to take whatever time they needed. I will definitely be bringing the Jeep back to Stus for any other maintenance needs since they are NOT just transmissions. Also, Tim gave me the hint that my Jeep was probably good for 180,000 more miles IF I started using better gasoline! I would Definitely recommend that you bring your car to Stus for any vehicle maintenance.

Very happy with the service. They were quick to take me in and get working on the car. I needed the a valve module in the transmission. They were conservative with the job and didn’t jump straight to a transmission rebuild. I have a crazy schedule that they worked with. I had just one day off, and had the car back the following day before I flew out. The shifts are smooth, and clean, barely noticeable. I had a little scare on the freeway when the car was holding 3rd way too long. I called them, and they explained what had to happen next with the car remapping and getting driving habits.Now it’s just a matter of the car’s computers remapping, pondering and discussing. Best of all was $200 less than the estimate.

Every auto shop I’ve been to, I’ve felt like a number where the company is just trying to get you in and out and they have a half qualified high school kid turning a wrench. Had these guys do a bunch of work on my 67 c10. They rebuilt my rear end super fast and cheaper than the rest. Had no problems what so ever. They also had to replace my front and rear main seals on the motor. Since I already have a work truck I had them take their time. They did an amazing job. No leaks. I was VERY impressed with Stus -- I was hesitant about going to someone I didnt know but when my car was having trouble in Long Beach, far from where I live, I didnt have much of a choice. Yet, as soon as I met Tim, I felt at ease and that I could trust them. Not only did Tim kindly explain what was wrong and could be wrong with my car by filtering it through my car-savvy boyfriend, he also told us a few tricks to using insurance if my car DID end up needing a new transmission (it didnt thankfully). A few discounts later and I feel like I received a very fair price for the work that was done. Although I live in Santa Monica, I would consider taking my car here in the future.

I have known about Stus since I was very young. My dad was a self-taught mechanic and did most everything on our cars and many friends cars as well. However, he always went to Stus when a transmission needed a rebuild. When I started driving and needed transmission work, he told me to take it to them. When a trusted mechanic refers you, you know you can trust the recommendation! My dad passed away 13 years ago and Ive been bouncing from mechanic to mechanic with no small amount of frustration. Then I learned that Stus now does much, much more than transmissions! After more than 40 years, the staff still doesnt disappoint! Tim and Jake go above and beyond to make sure things are done right and in a timely manner. On one occasion, Jake and the mechanic who was working on my sons car stayed late so they could keep the promised delivery date. My son had to get back to his Marine Base so we were really up against a wall with time. They came through like the champions they are. I especially love that they take the time to explain in detail what is going on. I worked on cars with my dad when I was younger and there are few things that irritate me more than an attitude of You just wouldnt understand, little lady. You will NEVER experience that here!! Ive been a happy Stus customer since 2010 and through two different vehicles - Im thrilled to have finally found what I believe to be a competent mechanic in this area after having been so disappointed with Pep Boys for a very long time.Finding an auto shop that you trust is just a nightmare for most of us, so I really cant say enough about how great Tim Giffin is to deal with. I go there for EVERYTHING now, even oil changes. Literally, no one touches anything under the hood of my car now other than Tims guys.Stus AE does all the mechanic work for the Long Beach Police Dept, so you know theyre good.So, my advice is that if it has wheels - take it to Tim.

Unfortunately my clutch was absolutely SHOT so I went in knowing it wasnt going to be a cheap job. I didnt do any shopping around, I relied on reviews I read from a couple of sources, and Stus stood out on top everytime. I also like that I was told my car would be ready the next day, and I got a call the next day telling me to come pick it up! Im very happy with the service I received here. Last week I took my 20 year old Ford 150 for basic service and as usual all went well. A couple years back they solved a problem in my manual transmission that I thought I would have to just deal with and they did it not knowing it was a problem, just performing a general maintenance service on the system. This week I had a broken clip near my clutch pedal and they took a half hour out of their busy schedule; I mean every lift had a car and every parking spot taken; and replaced that clip, shook my hand, and said, Have a nice day. If you want to have a nice day, take your car to Stus.

Family owned business I was visiting my son in California my clutch pedal broke they got my vehicle in right away and fixed it next day early enough for me to drive back to Arizona reasonably priced great service honest and upfront. I would highly recommend this place.

Stus AE Transmissions is more than just transmissions! I hadthem build up a Saginaw 4 speed for a Camaro many years ago and they did a tremendous job. A friend mentioned some auto work he had them do recentlrecentlypaid them a visit. Long story short, they are the only place that listened to my concerns. I found Stus AE Transmission through Yelp.I was hearing a humming noise from 15mph+, so I started doing research on the internet. I narrowed the problem down to two things: either a bad wheel bearing, or a rear differential.I first went here in January, and they couldnt figure it out just yet. They told me to come back when the noise gets louder. They told me for the time being, it is safe to drive.Fast forward to June, I took it in and had them check it out. Tim had George go on a test drive with me. George told me what was wrong, and gave me an explanation to back up what he had said. He told me that while the vehicle is moving, and with the key turned off, the sound would go away if the rear differential was bad. If the sound was there, then its a bad wheel bearing.When we got back to the shop, I told Tim that I will bring it in a few days later; I needed to drive to work. He told me to refrain from driving it much longer, just in case it does fail. I dropped off my truck a few days later, had George drop me off back home, came back before they closed, and now Im a satisfied customer.Although transmissions seem to be their specialty, they do handle most of everything else. I would definitely recommend them to people I know.

Stus AE Transmission is awesome. I would highly recommend going there if you have any transmission issues.I had my 1995 Volkswagen Winnebago Rialta towed over 30 miles to get to Stus, as this shop came highly recommended. Most shops wouldnt even take on the job of repairing the transmission on my Rialta, but Stus stepped up to the plate.Not only is it a difficult task to rebuild the transmission on a foreign RV body, the problem is also compounded by the fact that parts are hard to come by for a 20 year old RV. Stus did a fantastic job on the rebuild --the car drives smoother than it was when I first bought it; they also installed an aftermarket cooler!Price was better than any other shop that I considered — and they have a 3 year warranty.Also, they do other auto work in addition to transmissions...Ive been having a problem with coolant leaks recently in my Volkswagen, and Stus has patched me up and even gave me a great deal because I had to bring it back a few times due to old hoses giving out. Tim @ Stus transmissions is knowledgable, as well as a very fair and honest guy.I highly recommend Stus!

I have an 03 VW. The transmission went out. I took it to a friends mechanic and had a very bad, costly experience. I finally found Stus. The car was repaired right, the first time, at the cost that was quoted. I couldnt ask for better service.

Stus rebuilt the transmission in my 2007 F350 diesel. The transmission lasted 2 yrs and less then 40,000 miles. I took it in less then a week before it blow up again and they couldnt or wouldnt diagnose the problem. Said it was out of warranty.

There for a simple alignment, they seemed understaffed so I had to keep calling but definitely ran well after. Price was well underneath what dealer asked.
