I took my 2005 Chevy 2500HD 4x4 crew cab long bed to Brauns and they replaced my motor with a new Chevy crate motor, still runs GREAT! I recommend them for any custom work too, I have sent many of my customers there.
Called to get an estimate for a clutch installation on my 2010 Camaro. Told me they dont do price quotes over the phone. What kind of business turns away customers? Whats the point of even having a phone number to call you guys then? Definitely not driving in traffic from Huntington Beach for a quote after that phone call experience. I was even going to get my car tuned and dynoed with you guys. Bad business.
I brought my 1970 Boss 302 to Chris for diagnosis and tune as it had obvious carb and ignition issues. The original bill came to just short of $1000. for Carb repair, Ignition adjustment and dyno tune. This seemed pretty stout to me but given Chris assurances that the car would be transformed I gladly paid up. On the Drive home the car had a substantial flat spot, would not idle when cold, and would regularly backfire through the carb when given throttle. Its drivability was so poor that I drove it just twice in a month. During the third drive, less than 50 miles since the last service I smelled fuel. Opening the hood revealed a significant and dangerous leak had developed in the front bowl of the carb that Chris had just serviced flooding the top of the intake manifold and the wiring residing there. I delivered the car to Chris and was blown away by the next call I received, It would be $1200. to fix the carb he had just repaired, make a new fuel line and replace the voltage regulator. At this point I asked if he was prepared to take care of me given the fact this was a come back. He aggressively responded that there were no discounts here. I paid again, picked up my car and was mortified to find it idling at 1200-1500, dieseling on shutdown and had the same flat spot. I called Chris immediately explained the situation making clear that I was now really pissed. His response was when do you want to bring it down? No apology, no concern that hed blown it not once but twice. I insisted that he come to pick up the car as I was done wasting my time on this. He agreed to pick it up the following day. A week later I called to see when he was coming. On that call it became clear he had forgotten about me completely. On the third attempt it appears that the car finally was driving correctly but was delivered back to me with a broken drivers window crank and the interior filled with lawn clippings.. Chris final comment as I walked to my car was good luck! No joke this really happened after spending over $2,000. on crb and ignition service.I manage a Porsche dealership for a living and am an avid car collector. Accordingly, I have several cars in for service daily and have for almost 30 years mostly by some very talented professionals. I know how this is supposed to go being both the customer and vendor more times than I can count. This experience at Brauns was WRONG in every way. In my entire time as a collector or a dealer I have never been treated so rudely or unprofessionally by any Mechanic, body shop or other repair facility. I cannot urge anyone who has a Hot Rod needing service in the South Bay strongly enough to avoid Brauns at all cost.
This is a great place Chris is the best
Terrible service .. !!!!!!
