I rented a 26 foot truck to move across country. This location was very proactive and let me know Id be going to Pleasanton to get it. I appreciated the heads up. Once we got to packing and loading we ended up needing addition room and add a trailer to the rental. The manager was helpful with a discount. He made sure we were hooked up correctly and took the time to give some advice and tips to drive safe on our 2500 mile journey. The store has plenty of extra things that are important for packing; couch covers, shrink wrap, and tape for all those dang boxes. Id recommend this place for your moving needs. Thanks Livermore Uhaul.

Pros: the manager was nice and gave us a nicer downstairs unit that was larger than the unit in the contract. He seems like a good guyCons: The unit gave our stuff COCKROACHES. Never seen them before but when we came to pick up our stuff there was a massive dead one in the unit. Now Im finding massive ones in my house. Hopefully we can wipe them out.

My husband and I had a horrible experience at the Livermore U-Haul this past weekend. We rented a truck and a storage unit. We wanted to minimize contact with other people as much as possible, which was impossible to do because of the utterly inefficient policies of U-Haul and irresponsible conduct of its employees. First, the no-contact self-pickup of the truck did not work, and we had to wait for the place to open so we can be helped by an employee. Second, the employee who helped us was visibly very sick; she was couching her heart out, and she put her face mask on and off multiple times while touching our paper work and coughing into her hands. To top it off, the process was extremely slow; she basically asked us every question we had already answered/filled online (so basically the online reservation did not save us any time or effort). This led to us being stuck inside the tiny, non-ventilated facility with a sick employee who was coughing on our paperwork for about 25 minutes. It was the probably the perfect recipe for us and everyone waiting in line to get COVID-19. Clearly, the U-Haul company did not take any precautions to ensure the safety of its customers or employees. Otherwise, we would not have been stuck in a confined space with a sick employee for nearly half an hour providing information we had already provided online, to pick up a truck that we should have picked up with no-contact at all.

Absolutely amazing service. Anyone looking to get a trailer hitch added to their truck or SUV shouldnt look anywhere else. Quick and the best price I found.

They have excellent service and their propane prices are low. If you have a propane tank that you exchange at various places, you will get it filled completely for the same price or lower then the ones you exchange out. The exchange ones do not come completely filled, so if you want more for your money get it filled instead.

Do not rent a U-Haul from this location! They are extremely unprofessional and they do not care about their customers. We set up a rental for 8am, the vehicle they had for us immediately showed a check engine light. We returned it because my husband could tell their power steering was out. The second truck they gave us had the ABS light on! They told us that they didnt know what the issue was and that it is only bad if the light starts blinking. My husband is a mechanic, you cant BS a mechanic. He parked the truck, got out looked down at the drivers side front wheel and saw that the wheel speed sensor line was cut. How did they not find it, but he saw it in the first 5 minutes of having the truck? He brought it back, expecting them to replace the line, instead they used a butt connector and crimped the two ends together.PLEASE NOTE: We were moving from California to Oregon. This truck had to go over a 1,000 miles. This was all in our order.By the time we were able to get a working truck it was 1.5 hrs after our appointment time! They only compensated us $50 for all of this trouble. The part that we are most upset about is the u-haul repeatedly over heated on the trip and then in the last 3.9 miles broke down while my dad was driving. It appears the radiator hose blew and the heater core went out. This vehicle was extremely unsafe! They are lucky no one died in this truck, this is a serious liability. When we spoke with them, they told us the manager Eugene was going to call us to compensate for the situation. We never got a call, but our account said $0.00. We assumed they had compensated us. One week later, our credit card said they charged us the full amount. When my husband called to ask for a receipt or explanation for the amount and why the manager never reached out, he had TWO people yelling in his ear being defensive and angry. WE DROVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE OVER 1,000 MILES! We are allowed to get upset! They continued to yell at him and then HUNG UP on him!Do not go to this u-haul to rent a vehicle. They dont maintain their vehicles. They only care about money. They are unethical. They dont care about the lives of any of their customers.

These guys did a great job. My original trailer was not ready so I got an upgrade at the smaller trailer price. They helped me put the trailer on the back of my truck and take it off, great service.

I filled a propane tank here last Saturday. An attendant came out to fill my tank quickly and it took just a few minutes to fill the tank. Best part of all was that I was able to pay outside at the propane pump.I saved a ton of money filling my tank versus doing the propane cylinder exchange. I will be back!

Thank you Charlotte !!! ( you saved the day )I am moving all alone, across town, with no help, its been 100 degrees outside, I needed the truck for a few days. Tried to book three days online, no help. I was ready to book a truck with the competition. So I called to try to book direct, ( I didnt realize at this point I was talking to the Uhaul call center ) they said three days - no way buddy. They told me you can rent three different trucks for 24 hours each and return them each day and get a new one... W T F really ? No ! Just no, bad call center.A little later I got a call from Charlotte, she works at the place on Gardella, not the call center, she smoothed everything out, reserved me the truck I needed to move, saved the day for me.I didnt realize calling the number I saw on Google Maps sent me to a call center.Call the place direct if you can or go in and talk with Charlotte - ... do not deal with the call center.I would have rented with another company and paid more money just so I didnt need to return trucks so often. It didnt make sense to me

One star, and if I could give them zero stars, I would. You should NEVER deal with this Livermore U-Haul outlet. These people straight-up LIED to us. We wanted a one-way rental with pickup in Livermore and dropoff in the Salt Lake City area. They told us that with one-way rentals, they would not be able to tell us until the day before pickup where we would have to acquire the trailer – we might have to go as far away as Sacramento to get it. Obviously we wanted to pick it up in Livermore. So, in order to “guarantee” pickup in Livermore, we opted for a round-trip arrangement instead, even though it meant we would have to haul an empty trailer 750 miles back home with us, slowing our return home considerably.Lo and behold, we get a text saying that we must pick up the trailer in Santa Clara! We call the Livermore office to ask if the trailer can be brought from Santa Clara to Livermore and get a flat NO. We ask if we can return the trailer to Livermore at the end of our trip and again get denied. This delays our departure by a full three hours, as we have to drive an hour to Santa Clara to pick up the trailer and then return to Livermore to load the trailer – two hours in weekday rush traffic.(CAVEAT EMPTOR – that’s Latin for “let the buyer beware”: I did some Googling and found this: “U-Haul reserves the right to schedule an alternate pick up location and/or equipment as needed, based on the most convenient location with available equipment.” Folks, that means **U-Haul’s** convenience, NOT YOURS. Remember when I said the Livermore people lied to us? Yeah. They “guaranteed” that we could pick up the trailer in Livermore. NOT.)While picking the trailer up in Santa Clara (a much larger U-Haul location), we asked the attendant if there were any way we could change the arrangements to allow for a dropoff in Livermore at the end of our trip. Oh yes, certainly. We are handed a new contract stating that dropoff would be in Livermore and we take off.Upon our return, we arrive at the Livermore U-Haul location. The attendant was busy with another customer and said that it would take him a while. He suggested that we just unhitch the trailer and he would email our receipt to us. Since we had been driving all day and it was a very hot day, we agreed, unhitched the trailer, and went home.About an hour later, the attendant called, wanting to talk about the “charges.” He claimed that we owed an extra $20 per day for every day after the first day of our trip. This would have more than TRIPLED what had been charged on our credit card by the attendant in Santa Clara. He tried to tell us that our contract said something it did not. “Look at the right-hand column where it says ‘X.’” Um, it doesn’t say anything like that. “Take a picture of it and text it to me.” Sure, no problem. After seeing the photo of the contract we had in hand (sure glad we insisted on a paper copy of that contract from the attendant in Santa Clara!), the Livermore attendant agreed to “waive the extra charges.” Yeah, the charges that he wanted to tack on – the charges to which he was not entitled IN THE FIRST PLACE.We have never seen such a bunch of bait-and-switch tactics in our lives. DO NOT USE THE LIVERMORE U-HAUL LOCATION.

Most U-Hauls I have been to usually have bad customer service, but this location was different. As far as renting a unit goes everything was ok and no problem, but what I liked more is I needed some straps for our car trailer and the lady working there was actually very helpful and knew exactly what I was looking for. Good experience overall.

We have used more equipment and purchased more boxes from this U-Haul location than I can possibly remember or count. Granted you might come in late one evening after a short staffed crew is about to finish their day, but on any other day, this crew will go out of their way to ensure you get when you need for your move.

Agreed U-Haul is good self move alternative to expensive movers but it is still very very expensive. They advertise as low cost 19.95$ per day but read the fine print: Even if the rental is for a few hours they charge the full days rate. Not prorated. They charge $1.29 per mile and weekend rate are more expensive than week days. They charge for fuel. All in all a simple rental of a 19.95$ truck for 20 miles moving for a few hours ends up roughly about 90$ in total. They dont give dollys out with the rental - they are extra. $7 to $10 per day depending on the size of the dolly. Also they advertise their ramp is convenient but you need super human strength to lift it up and lock it and then lift it back up and put it down to close the ramp. Im not impressed with U-Haul and their business practices.

I was not particularly happy with the service of this location, or U-Haul in general. I reserved a truck online at the Gardella location, one that came complete with a guarantee that my truck would be there, or I would receive $50 off a different truck. I drove 3 hours to pick up the truck, only to be advised that my truck was now at a location on First Street across town. Upon arrival at the U-Haul across town (a U-Haul/gas station combo) I was advised by the gas station clerk that the U-Haul part of the facility was not open for business that day (Black Friday). I called the Gardella store back, who said they would give me an 800 number so that I could speak to someone who could better find me a truck. I also got two other phone numbers, as the lady was not sure which was the correct one.I finally get ahold of someone at the 800 number, and the lady argues with me, stating that the website says the U-Haul at First Street is open. I advised her that I am not calling for funsies, and promised her it was NOT open. She told me I could head back across town, to a THIRD LOCATION, to pick up a truck. She then offered me a $50 guarantee that the truck would be there. I advised her that I had already had such guarantee, and had now been to two locations (and am going to my third) and no truck, so what good does such guarantee do me? She offered no explanation and just kept repeating that she was giving me the guarantee. At this point I should have already gotten $100 off my reservation based solely on their inability to provide me with the truck I reserved.I finally get to the third location off Portola, also a gas station/U-Haul combo, where there is one clerk and 20 people in line for convenience store assistance. It took me 45 minutes to rent the truck because she kept assisting other customers that kept coming in (after us), instead of finishing our checkout which all in all shouldve only taken 10 minutes. I finally had to ask her to finish checking us out instead of helping the constant flow of other customers coming in after us. 45 minutes of patience is more than enough in my opinion.Aside from the ridiculous customer service from U-Haul, the truck worked perfectly for what we needed. I was able to fit all my stuff, the truck ran great. The prices, however, were just as ridiculous as the customer service (almost $400 to rent a truck for the day one way to Santa Rosa - not even 90 miles - and not including gas obviously). Their inability to uphold their own truck reservation guarantee was just as deplorable. I will definitely not be using U-Haul in the future.
