I bought a used almost new 1980 Ebko boat from a private party in 1981. Since it had not had the break in maintenance completed I took it to Great Lakes Marine to have the first maintenance done. 41 years later I have taken it to no other shop because I’ve always been treated fairly and advised honestly how about any maintenance or repair needed. Over the years the business has grown tremendously and it makes it necessary to schedule work a little further in advance but it is well worth it. I met people coming from Boulder have work done because of the reputation of the shop. Here’s the same boat in 2020. The boat has lots of hours over the years at Lake Powell and many other lakes. Repairs done in those 40 years included head gasket, power pack, coil, water pumps and starter. It’s in use now in Kansas by my kids and grandkids.

Im happy with my new prop and I just had to take the time to leave a review because the service i received from the people here was amazing. They did not try to sell me something I didnt need and could have made a lot more money off of me but they were honest people and just wanted to get me back on the waters. I appreciate their help in finding my the right prop for my boat and putting it on for me which they didnt even charge for it even though i wanted to. They know what they are doing and great honest and nice people here and I would recommend them to anyone who needs any work done or have any questions im sure they would be glad to help.

Great Lakes replaced my engine with a new crate motor. This was after I completely wasted $6,000.00 on a rebuilt engine (botched job) at a different shop. Great Lakes Marine is extremely professional and gave me a totally different experience than the previous shop. I cant recommend them enougb.

These guys were amazing! I had takin my older Yamaha (2004) 150 outboard to another shop. They had it twice and finally and kept it for a couple of months. After all that they told me I needed a $3,600 part for a vacuum leak and that they could not work on it because it too old. I called Great Lakes and they said they would work on it. I dropped it off and they called me about 2 hours later telling me it was not a vacuum leak but rather clogged fuel injectors and that it was done. Took it out and it ran like a champ. Josh diagnosed and fixed it so fast. Great job!!

So my first experience with Great Lakes was so good, Id like to share. I spent a little more money having them winterize my Nautique. I just unwrapped the plastic and am blown away with the over the top effort to completely protect my boat. They did an awesome job, much better than the discount guy I used to use. My boat was completely dry inside and ready for the water.

Great customer service and honest. Thought I had a lower unit oil leak at the prop on my 15 hp outboard. Took it in and the member working the counter explained it was un-burned oil from the 2 stroke, probably from the cold lake at high altitude where I had been using it. They could have gouged me for work that didnt need to be done, but told me the truth. Will definitely return to them if I should ever need repairs! Thanks Great Lakes Marine!

Wow! Theses guys are great. I made an appointment to get my boat serviced here, around three weeks ago. They had two motors fixed in two days. They are fair with theyre pricing and i was informed of the cost before they did the work. I received updates and the guy on the phone was really friendly. When i picked up the boat the mechanic went thru all he had done and showed me, then they helped me hook up to my truck. This is how service should be. Thanks and great job!

My husband and I purchased our first boat this spring and it was an intimidating experience for us as we have very little boat experience. Chris George helped us find the perfect preowned Sea Ray and even offered to come down to the lake with us to teach us how to run it properly. I’m so impressed by their customer service and communication. The entire experience was flawless and so easy thanks to them, do yourself a favor and don’t shop anywhere else!

Bob has gone above and beyond in taking care of his customers. I was having some problems with an older 2 stroke motor, and spent a lot of money on trying to get it up to where I wanted it to be. He was very patient and kind as I continued to have struggles with it. When the time came to upgrade, I purchased a Yamaha 4 stroke, which has worked beautifully. He even threw in a warranty, and gave me a great deal on my old one. Now I’m back on the water and fussing less, enjoying the time on the water more. Cheers!!

Kellen even offered to help me rescue my boat and trailer off the side of the road should I break-down. I have had my Nautique serviced here for 5 years and always had a great experience. I am a new customer to Great Lakes Marine. At first, I had an unfortunate miscommunication with the staff that resulted in me speaking with the manager/owner. I was very impressed with how he handled everything and I can say that he certainly delivered on everything he said he would and with great professionalism. Even with the initial aggravation, I give this place a 5 star rating and am happy to be a customer and will be returning for all my boating needs. It is not often that a company stands up and does the right thing when an issue occurs, but Kellen and his crew did and hes earned my respect and trust.

I think the 3 star rating for my situation is fair and maybe somewhat generous based on my experience. I called 2 times and spoke at length with 2 employees about my motor, age, make, etc. Confirmed the day before I was bringing in same motor for carb adjustment and not until I took the boat all the way over there did I hear, we dont work on a motor generally older than 1996, I think, or somewhere in that time period. While very apologetic, this was bad in that I was absolutely clear about the specs of the motor and at no time was I told they dont work on those. They passed on a name and number for someone that has experience with these motors but it was a great inconvenience. The apologetic response I got from the person I spoke with this morning is why they got the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars, in conjunction with the majority of comments being positive. Just make sure to pin them down on the phone if your boat/motor is older than mid-90s.

Finding a boat mechanic is tough. Finding a good, honest marine mechanic is a dream. Had an excellent encounter with Great Lakes Marine and while the lead time for work is long in the summer, it is worth the wait. I scheduled an out drive maintenance that turned into more (but I expected that due to an impeller failure last year and some new noise). All through the repair the mechanic kept me informed, quoted me a price and finished on time. In the end the final price was actually a little lower than quoted and all the old parts were supplied to me. I just cant say any more clearly, if you need a marine mechanic stop searching and go to Great Lakes Marine.

I really cannot believe the professionalism and attitude of all of the people that work at Great Lakes Marine. I bought a used boat from them and always had excellent service. I traded the used boat in for a new Ebbtide and it is a very excellent boat. This company treats you like one of the family and goes above and beyond to make sure that you are satisfied. We were in Lake Powell one summer and had a boat problem. Bob offered to drive to Lake Powell and repair the boat on the spot. He ended up talking us through the repair and we continued our vacation. After 30-years of working with Great Lakes Marine, I still cannot believe his memory. He seems to know the names of each and every customer who comes in. He shows his appreciation with an annual Christmas party that is one of the best we have ever been to. I highly recommend this company for all of you service needs or a new boat.

Great lakes winterized the boat. Left a hose off from winterizing. When engines were started this spring (2016) no water coming from exhaust. Opened hatch and could see the stream of water but could not determine where the water was coming out of the engine.Called great lakes to come out. First thing was they broke the ram that lifts the hatch. Secondly, they started the engine but could not find the water leak. Left engine running until we noticed the smoke and smell of burnt rubber. It turns out they had not opened the thru hull valve. Impeller/raw water pump is now fried. Has been 2 weeks and they still will not answer phone calls, return calls or respond.

Great Lakes Marine customer service is incredible! Bought a 22 Cobalt from them 3 years ago and have had exceptional service ever since. Kellen and service team are knowledgeable, friendly and most importantly honest and up front with you. We live an hour and a half North of their shop and bring in our boat twice a year for maintenance and winterization. GLM does a great job of shrink wrapping for winter storage and full service de-winterization. This last winter we stored our boat outside on farm land and had a few crazy winter dust storms. Took boat in to GLM as usual for de-winterizati2on. The dust from storms during storage had inundated most of the bow (no shrinkwrap could have prevented). Took boat in for annual de-winterization. GLM let me know the situation and and went above and beyond to take care of the excessive dirt. This is only one story GLM customer service. I wish they were closer to us, but completely worth the 1.5 hour drive!Chris Davison

Been doing bussiness with Greatlakes for the past three years...nice and freindly staff...yet this last issue...the mechanic gave me the cold shoulder...brush off. Sorry but we know whats wrong with your boat...but we cant get original parts and dont have the tools...I had no trouble locating parts from mercury part web site.This only confirms that if this is the only service show near south Denver...then maybe I shouldnt be a boat owner.
