Ive been to The German Car Shoppe twice now and both times Ive had a really great experience. First time I had to replace my heater and they gave me a better price than any other place quoted (including a family friend). I never feel like they are trying to repair things that arent necessarily or trying to over charge.About a year after my first visit, I started having a strange issue with my cars acceleration (I have a VW CC). I took it to multiple shops and they did test after test, replacing things that had nothing to do with the problem, so it persisted. The German Car Shoppe is further from where I live but I decided to go there as a last resort. They found the problem within hours and were able to fix it that day (and again gave me a really great price). From here on out, this is the only shop I trust to do a good job. Highly recommend!
Best place in metro Denver to get your European car repaired. Ed is absolutely the best to work with. Extremely knowledgeable in all European vehicles. Would not take my vehicle anywhere else
I have been to multiple places to get my Mercedes fixed (tried to look at customer service and prices) and i can say by far that The German Car Shoppe is by far the best experience i have had. All of the people in the front are so kind and helpful. And their technicians are very knowledgeable and responsive when i have questions. James especially is one of my favorites. He does a great job at servicing the cars and he is always willing to give me a ride to and from when my car is being serviced. Ed and Dave have taken such great care if all of my needs and always gets me in within a day or two, i never have to wait. Thank you to all the staff here i will continue to bring my car here for any future needs.
They have always taken great care of my sons car and the owner is fantastic! The mechanics are wonderful and professional
Saw the reviews and decided to try the place out. The reviews did not disappoint. Everyone was friendly. My bmw needed a coolant flush, it was done fairly quickly and cheaper than other places. Will come back for all my car needs.
Turns out thy forgot to install the plastic bits under my gti and also did not lift the car properly resulting in a crushed rocker. Thanks for the damage to a flawless mk6gti guys!
Good place to have your car serviced. They know what they are doing. Knowledgeable. Very good staff
What a great place to take your German made car. Great staff
Bad Service. We brought our 18 volkswagon atlas in to check the check engine light, and were told we needed to do our 50k service at 46k miles. This would have been ok except for subsequent events - first, they forgot to re-set the check engine light so it came back on shortly after we picked it up, so we had to go back to get it re-set. Then a few weeks later, there was the possibility that a fuse may have burned out. I called and asked which fuse corresponds to the running lights on a towed trailer. They couldnt tell me which one, but said it might be one of 4 numbers. Unfortunately, the fuses in the box are not numbered so I needed a fuse box diagram (there isnt one in the manual). I asked them to send me a picture of their manual with the fuse box, and Dave the guy who picks us the phone told me I could find it online. When I couldnt and called back, he sent me one he found on Pinterest, which was clearly marked Beetle and looked nothing like my atlas fuse box. I emailed him back the photo of the fuse box 3 hours before they closed, asking for the correct diagram. No answer. I wont be going back.
Not impressed. Wasn’t fixed right the first time, and while they were very happy to take a look and fix the issue, they made it feel as I was the one to blame tho I was not.The mechanic failed to attach a hose and then basically blamed the issue on me bc he wasn’t able to,test drive the car after was done bc the hood was wonky and he was afraid to drive it.Well. I understand that, but you can still CHECK YOUR WORK. And if you’re afraid to,drive it and didn’t do a final test drive ADVISE the customer of this at the time rather than have the thing be not repaired and making them come back 2x to have fixed properly.I will say after all the hassle they seem to do good work.I may have been a one-off, but I know a mechanic should at least ‘feel check ‘ all the damn hoses so they don’t pop off and drain all the antifreeze and cause an overheated engine! also dangerous!A total pain in the butt.
I run a tour company here in Denver and need my cars and vans running smoothly at all times. The German Car Shoppe has been taking care of me for several years now and I had only good experiences with John and Ed. Mercedes cars are luxury vehicles and they need to be treated as such. Having reliable and trusted mechanics is very important to me and I would not continue my relationship if I had any doubts in their capabilities. Keep up the good work!
Always take my cars there. Great service.
High quality and honest folx.
I was new to Colorado and looking for a mechanic I could trust with my Audi. Ed and the rest of his colleagues have been the most honest and trustworthy mechanics I’ve worked with. Especially as a woman walking into a mechanic shop, I always hated how others try to sell me things I don’t need and treat me like I didn’t know anything about vehicles. I never once experienced this here and would recommend it to anyone I know!! Reasonable pricing and truthful with what I needed for my vehicle. I trust this whole dealership completely with their great work!
Outstanding service. My wifes Mercedes has never run better. Thank you John
The guys over at the German car shop were able to get my car in quickly providing assessment and a reasonable price to work on my German vehicle I highly recommend Ed and his team over at the German car shop
Very professional and prompt service!
Ed was amazing and he treated me like a human being he was great thank you to the rest of the staff there
Highly recommend for a pre purchase inspection. They were great at working with me for a time to drop off the car I was looking at and did a great job inspecting the car and informing of the issues. It definitely put my mind at ease and was money well spent. Will definitely use these guys again.
The best ! Diagnosis and service on the X5 was impeccable. Thank you John and Ed and the whole team at the German car shop. Customers for life!
I recently had my car serviced here after another shop was incapable of the work. They were relatively quick with the work and very helpful when explaining the work they did as well as addressing other areas of concern. They arent the most competitive in pricing but its better than dealer pricing with the same level of quality.
Dealership found allll sorts of problems with my Mercedes GLK, and told me I needed over $4,000 worth of work done. On a friends recommendation, I brought it in to Ed for a second opinion. After extensive investigating and thorough testing, they found nothing wrong with my car and charged me $0. So thankful I got a second opinion! These guys are sharp, know how to fix cars - not just replace parts like the dealership - are honest, and easy to work with. Highly recommend!
Very detailed and professional. Very good at what they do. Highly recommended
Had a coolant leak somewhere in my X1. Called the shop to check their hours (it was a Saturday) and they were open and said we could come in within the hour and they can try to check the issue. We got there and John was incredibly nice and friendly. Had the tech, Quinn, come and take a look, and within minutes he discovered the source of the leak. It was a crack in the coolant housing. John then found the part and said it would be available within half an hour, and that they could fix the issue within a few hours. We were just expecting to make an appointment, so we were pleasantly shocked when they offered to fix it the same day! Quinn gave us a ride home since we lived up the street! Came back in my husbands car when the work was done, and they were just overall excellent in every aspect. The labor costs were very reasonable. We will definitely be going back for any maintenance. Havent had customer service like that in a while.
Took my car in for scheduled maintenance and it was less than the dealership. The guys here were very nice and provided some quotes for work that may be needed down the road. What was nice was they werent pushy about it. Basically it was on a 1-10 scale of how necessary and how long down the road it.
Friendly people and great service.
Fair prices. Dealership quality parts and labor.
Honest mechanic. Owner is very knowledgeable with older mercs as well as new models. A breath of fresh air in a tough industry.
I got my Volkswagen fixed up here and Dave did an amazing job making sure everything got taken care of! I felt like I could really trust him and that he cared not only about his job, but about me as his customer as well! I will definitely be returning, when need be! Excellent work :)
Ed and team have gone above and beyond to ensure my car is up and running even while sticking to a budget. He has worked with me dilligently over the years and i will continue to bring my sports cars to him and his team! They have earned my trust!
I am really glad to have come across the German Car Shoppe. I recently purchased a used Audi A4 from them and they have been nothing but awesome to work with. John, Ed, and Robin were all very friendly and helpful. Its great to come across a service shop where you feel like youre being really taken care of
John, Ed and the team are just fantastic. I cannot say enough good about these guys. I took my Volvo S80 in for transmission service. No problems, just high mileage service. The car had been wrecked and fully repaired. After Johns crew put it on the rack they called me to report that the engine mounts were hammered! Nobody in the repair process found this! I imagined it was going to cost an arm and a leg to get them replaced. Turns out it was not anything like I thought. Fair and affordable. These guys are pros and yet they are like family. Atmosphere is light and fun. When they shake your hand it is their way of saying, Its going to be okay! You are in good hands here!
The only place to take your Porsche, fair prices and knowledgeable staff! Stay away from the dealership. See Ed!
Service was excellent. Ed and his staff really do a bang up job. After being given the run around by Mercedes Benz of Littleton and quoted 3 different figures, Ed and staff took my GL450 in on a holiday weekend and had it back up and running for me the next day. Will definitely return for all my issues in the future. Thanks!!!
My first experience with them was good when I was diagnosing my bent valve on a BMW 325I. Dave gave me a quote of $126 on Friday and set me up for an appointment on Monday. I had the car towed and the diagnosis was done by noon on Monday, very fast! on Monday again he said $126 when I dropped it off. Unfortunately I was disappointed on Tuesday when I walked in to pay for the service and he said the total was $190. I found this a bit off-putting. I felt taken advantage of being a younger customer. Unfortunately I will not be revisiting this shop and will continue fixing my car on my own terms as it seems I can not find an honest reliable shop in the Denver area.
My family and I have been servicing our respective BMW X5 here for years. Ed and the ownership genuinely care about their clients over all satisfaction. The prices are far more reasonable than the dealerships and they KNOW German cars. If you are in need of a superior German auto shoppe this is the place...be sure you ask for Ed because he is personable, professional, knowledgeable and a straight-shooter; an outstanding face for the organization.
Couldnt be more thankful to these guys! I was not disappointed the service and price was terrific and they completed the repair promptly as promised. Five stars!
I had a good experience here. The service was great as well as the staff. I thought it was strange that they snuck a $6 charge to refill my wiper fluid. I thought it was a very dishonest thing to do, especially since I did not ask for it. I would still recommend them, but definitely scrutinize your bill.
We have used this shop for a repair and an estimate on selling one of my cars. They do great work and Ed is fantastic. Took time out of his busy Saturday to assist - very much appreciated.
Ive been taking my wifes car there for years and have ALWAYS been completely satisfied. Ed tends to take care of his customers as if they are the ONLY customers he has. He is alway personable and caring, and we have always been happy with the quality of work, as well as the reasonableness in cost. We will be moving away shortly, and I have to look for a replacement shop in our new area. Hopefully, the shop they recommended will be as great as these guys. Thanks for always taking great care of us!!
After firing Emich VW’s service department, I’ve been bringing my GTI here. Everyone is friendly and the service is excellent. I highly recommend.
Took my 08 Mercedes here, and was blown away by the care & quality of their work. You can tell they are really good people when walking in and discussing with them, plus they offered a loaner car for the day as well. Made a $800 dealer job into about $300, will bring my MB back here for every scheduled and unscheduled service.
In all of my years of owning cars, I have never before found a auto shop that is as knowledgeable, friendly, honest and accommodating as the German Car Shoppe! For almost a decade I have brought multiple cars there to be repaired and/or serviced. Everyone from the mechanics to the owner is highly skilled, professional and trustworthy, in particular, the service advisor, Ed Slofkiss! Ed will go above and beyond to decipher a problem, determine possible solutions and present all the most cost-effective options. He has an amazing ability to think outside the box when faced with seemingly impossible repairs. Not only has the German Car Shoppe been incredibly flexible with my tight schedule, but they have always been available for questions (even pertaining to my non-German cars) and provided truthful answers. I will never take my cars anywhere else!!
Knowledgeable folks who will treat you right. Theyre prompt and honest with their time estimates and do great work. They wont be the cheapest but theyre one of the few people I trust to wrench on my car and that is worth every penny. German Car Shoppe über alles!
Ive taken my 2002 330 XI here a couple of times. The guys are nice, with good/reasonable prices. I owe them a 5 star rating though for a visit I had 6 months ago. For years various shops charged me hundreds of dollars for various fixes related to a periodic throttle body fault condition that left me crawling home under idling power only - the problem continued after each visit and bill. But a guy at the German Car Shoppe (really wish I could remember his name) drove my car for a weekend, found a tiny vacuum leak, spent a day tearing things down to fix it, and Ive been driving since without a problem. I cant tell you how frustrating that problem was previously, or how relieved Ive felt since - Im a BIG FAN and recommend you try them too.
I’ve never been here and paid less than 1200 for work on my truck. It’s old but it was my dads and he was a mechanic so I can’t really imagine that he’d let some of these things go. The last time I took my truck in I had literally just had my breaks done and now my breaks are scratching. Something is off...
Called them for a quick question and they were more helpful than the THREE dealerships I called.
Top rate service, honest repair shop. Terrific!
Convenient location, solid mechanics, no frills place, good value for Porsche 911 services.
Giving these gentleman a four star review. I felt they were honest and reasonably priced. Ill definitely be a repeat customer.
Poor customer service. My initial conversation was abrasive and they quoted me at $900 worst case scenario to fix. After getting the work done to fix the issue, I was out $1700!! Nearly DOUBLE the initial quote! To top it off, once I got my car back, I heard thumping noise in the trunk on the way home. When I opened the trunk, my battery wasnt mounted and was sliding around in my trunk! POOR quality. I will NOT return to this shop for work.
I will start by giving credit where due: Ed seems to be a very nice guy, we can all agree on that, and he also was really good about providing me with a loaner car, and he even worked with me on the billing, and actually gave me a decent deal on what they provided. But heres where they fell short -- in my opinion -- and that is Quality Diagnostics, and follow-through on repairs.I took my 02 Audi A4 in about a month ago; they diagnosed a bad fuel injector. Ed called and suggested they might have to replace all four injectors, which was fine with me, it makes sense, the car is old, lots of miles, lets do it.I also asked him to check my fuel pump, since it had been quite noisy for the past few weeks.A few hours later, Ed called back with good news: He said they checked all the injectors, and as it turned out, only one really needed to be replaced, and they also checked the fuel pump, and it was fine ... good to go.I went in, paid a bill of about $500, but about a mile down the road, the car died, and it felt a lot like a dead fuel pump. So, Ed sent a tech to meet me, he gave me a loaner, and somehow got my car back to the shop. A day or two later, Ed called, confirmed that it was in fact, a bad fuel pump, and another $500 or so should do the trick.Fair enough, we did the fuel pump, he cut me a fair deal, and I was on my way. When I picked up the car the second time, I asked Ed if he had looked at the car himself, or driven it at all. He said he had not. That was a month ago. Last night, I lost another injector, which is less than shocking. Of course, now I am really wishing we had just done the job right the first time, by replacing all four injectors. As I said, good guys, decent shop -- but in my case -- they could have done a much better job with diagnostics and follow up. Obviously, their initial diagnostics on my fuel pump was dead wrong, and now, as it turns out, their diagnostics and advice on my injectors was also off the mark -- lesson learned -- dont just replace one injector, better to just do them all.
When your car isnt just a car.
Ive been here a couple times and was happy with the service and cost both times. Thinking I could trust them to do a competent, honest job I sent my wife to get an oil change and didnt bother checking up on how things went. This was a mistake, and Im now out far more money than I should be for this basic service. Most importantly, by my wifes account the guy she dealt with (Dave) was extremely rude and condescending to her. Shes a small blonde woman who very obviously knows nothing about cars and they must have thought they could just get away with whatever.Another big issue I have is that they began work before obtaining actual consent to start working on it. This is a pretty big no-no in the auto service world; Id know as I used to work in the industry.According to my wife the tech came and grabbed the keys and went to pull it in. Not until 15 minutes later did the Dave begin interacting with her, at which point he told her the car needed an additional minor service. She called me to confirm the details of that service (which we turned down as it was obscenely overpriced and not critical, despite them insisting to my wife that it was), and while on the phone I asked what the cost of the oil change was ($170ish)... upon hearing that figure I told her Forget it, go elsewhere and she looked in the service bay and said the car was already up on the lift and had the oil draining out of it despite her not having explicitly approved any work. As a result, we were forced to go through with a service that we otherwise would not have.Again this is second hand as Im hearing it from my wife, but by her account she very clearly heard Dave muttering obscenities under his breath as he was walking away to let her call me. Thats not ok.The cost of the oil change was nearly $70 over what the highest rated shop in my area wants, now that Ive called and inquired with them. Part of this is likely due to them charging nearly 3x the market rate of the oil filter. We generally will go out of our way to support a business that we know is good, which is why we didnt go to the closer shop in the first place. TGS has now lost our business so at least we can save a bit of driving time moving forward. The type of cars this shop specializes in are generally of the more expensive variety, and service costs follow that. This is well understood and a non-issue. The issue is when they charge significantly more than other German-specific shops for the same service on the same vehicle. The other problems Ive mentioned above are more important to me, but I wanted to address that particular argument before it started.
We have 2 Audi vehicles. One is 8 years old and the other is 5 years old. This shop has worked on our cars for many years and have done great work and honest work! So happy we can trust their advice!
These guys are great! Very honest and very reasonably priced.
First of all, being a woman, going to any automotive shop can be intimidating. Ed @ The German Car Shoppe not only put me at ease but explained everything to me in terms that I actually understood. He even offer to take me out and show me what was wrong. The repair was done within the time he said and for the same price he quoted me. Ed is the best car guy i have ever dealt with, friendly, easy to understand, and actually not bad to look at either.... I will definatly be back. And if you go deal with Ed, he is the best...
Replaced the clutch in my Mini. Runs better than ever now.
Went in asking about getting my car worked on. The man I spoke to had zero mechanical knowledge. This place appears to be a glorified Grease Monkey for Volkswagen owners to feel special. Im sure its fine if you want to fix something simple like suspension or minor component failure, stuff no one could mess up. Interestingly enough, they turned me away for not having a German car, yet theres a review on here stating they worked on a Volvo, a swedish car through and through. But theyll turn away Minis for being British and Seats for being Spanish.
The German Car Shoppe is AMAZING! They are honest - fair - curtious and do what they say they are going to do! I wont take our SMART cars anywhere else for repairs! 5/13/15 Just had a call from the guys at German Car Shoppe as my car is in to be checked for a squeak - they beat a chain big name repair shop by about $400.00. Whats not to love about that?! Im a customer for life!
Perfect, I just talked to Ed, and it was nothing but refreshing. I spent the morning calling auto shops to try and see if they have heard of the problem that I have been with my Audi. I wanted to make sure a shop I was bringing my car to has heard of the problems I was having before I brought my car in. The other shops I talked to just wanted me to bring it in. I told Ed I was trying to find a place that has had this problem before so it wasnt going to cost me an arm and a leg just to find it. He took all my info and told me he would talk to his Audi guys and get back to me. I thought that was very cool and I know these guys are a class act. Although no work has been done, I felt a review was necessary on customer service alone.
Appreciate the friendly helpful staff.
Traveling through CO and were having ignition problems. Took time from busy schedule to diagnose problem and schedule repair for next day. Service was great. Customer service even greater!
Great service garage for European style autos, great customer service, good prices and they have loaner cars.
John the owner was friendly and helpful but if you have to deal with Dave or Ed be prepared for a heavy dose of rudeness! My suggestion is go someplace else, I will.
We brought a BMW X5 in for service due to a squealing noise coming from under the hood. The BMW dealer wanted $800 to replace what they thought was the problem, and Ed at the German Car Shoppe charged $289 to fix what he KNEW was the problem. We brought the car over on the Saturday before Memorial Day and found that the shop was closed, but Ed was in the garage and happily did a short diagnosis for us and took about half an hour out of his day to answer our questions, even though he was closed that day. Overall, Ed showed us that he really cares about his customers and we could not be happier! We will be returning for future service needs.
I worked for John and Lee for many years at Murray Mercedes-Benz, they both are awesome people and great at what they do. I hope you will give them a try.
Great place. Very reasonable prices and honest mechanics.
Very upfront and honest guys, came recommended from my old shop after they had closed
I wouldnt take my Audi anyplace else. Supremely Professional and honest.
These guys are pleasant and do good work.
Fast responses, fair prices, and quality work. Cant ask for much more than that.
These guys are the best they go out of there way to make sure the you are happy with there work often going far past the extra mile to help I now take my cars only here
Ed and the guys here are awesome. Theyre honest, fair, and reliable. Highly recommend!!
Great guys, knowledgeable and fair pricing. Would recommend them to everyone!
They dont have a big enough parking area, but the knowledge and honesty is refreshing. The service is just as they promise, and I am one satisfied customer!
Best car shop for MB, Audi, and BMW. They know their stuff.
Friendly service and very accommodating. Theyre good people.
Great and friendly service. Cost are fair. Repairs are professional.
Excellent Service team and managerEd was great to work with.
PLEASE READ!!!I know this place is a very reputable german car shop, specialists but i got screwed here and John Waldron the owner here whom was taking care of my car and service did not want to refund it at the end i got screwed $366!Took my 02 bmw 330 in to get the heater fixed. diagnosis was heater valve and coolant system flush. I authorized the job and then i was told the heater works and its operating, the vehicle is ready to pick up. The invoice also said the work performed fixed the issue and the heater was now operating. This was all FALSE! when i arrived the heater never worked, still doesnt and i left the car there for them to see why it didnt work after it was supposedly fixed... I know this sounds too biased and straight forward but this is exactly what happened. Ultimately it ended up being a deeper issue and the $366 i paid for the initial job was not refunded back even though i never had heat/heater, when they supposedly did the issue. Its sad because again theyre a reputable shop and they caused all this for $366! Im now in a dispute with them...Dont go here. Theres a german specialists whom their main specialty is porshce. i havent personally been there but Ive heard great things. I would avoid this place.
Horrible Customer Service, walked in, had to wait for 5 minutes, called later during the day, got an attitude from a worker. They will not let you supply parts and as told me on the phone they make money off of selling OEM parts. Meaning if you can find OEM from bimmerparts for 300a kit, they will quote you 480$ and thats how they make money.
I like this place a lot. These guys are honest and reasonably priced.
Very honest and fair
Great honest shop
Great service
Honest mechanics
We didn’t have any work done by them but everyone was so friendly, honest, and quick. Looking forward to working with them if we end up buying another foreign car.
Too bad they are not responsible for the tone of a car within the parking meters of their premises. That is what awaits customers
