One of my favorite places to study at in high school. Has a warm, welcoming environment and staff. They honestly ruined coffee for me. I havent been able to find any as good as theirs since. If youre thinking about going, do it.

Hammerhand is now my favorite coffee in the city. After working in midtown for over a decade and having to get my good coffee down there, Im so thrilled to finally have found amazing coffee in the Northland. The Mayan Spiced Mocha is my favorite, but everything is excellent. Plus we love the baked goods - especially the blackberry peach muffin and pop tarts! The coffeehouse itself is great too, a lovely old building with lots of comfortable seating of different types. I love it!

Im not in Liberty often; but when I am, I practically make Hammerhand my home base. The atmosphere makes working comfortable and enjoyable with its open layout and cozy minimalist decor. I highly recommend their cappuccinos (just make sure you get the regular size and NOT the large...I once made this mistake and was presented with what my boyfriend and I deemed, soup because I had never seen a cappuccino cup that large-and-in-charge).

Espresso sidecar - woke me right up after a long day of work! Quaint joint right on the Liberty square. Would recommend.

This place is great, worth going to. I was recently there and didn’t realize it wasn’t opened yet but the staff on duty were willing to serve me without making me wait the extra half hour until opening. This is great service and exemplifies how they treat people. The place has great seating and wonderful sunlight that streams through the windows.

Cute shop with great coffee. They have lots of options, even for non coffee drinkers. They had pastries as well as alcoholic beverages. The staff was incredibly friendly and patient as this was our first time there. My sister tried one of the muffins and said it was delicious. They have a rewards program as well. You get stars for each visit. I will definitely be back.

Beyond words type of good espresso..... Obviously. The only way I could deem any coffee shop 5⭐good. I have gone to coffee shops in the past that I literally put up with the staff just for the goods. Not the case here. Dont come in expecting Starbucks...This aint your place. Quality over quantity, house made syrups, they want you to sit and drink the beverage how it should be....What to expect: with the utmost respect (because Im in the category as well) I say you will find coffee house geek-ary at its finest, Black Keys type music, students a studying, young families meeting up with friends, a wonderer or two who havent the slightest idea this wasnt Starbucks, and maybe a few like me who weird-out, ya know bring out thier gel pen and sharpie collection to color and end up people watching. Good stuff guys Hammerhand Coffee is off to a great start and exercise those wrists, you dont want carpel tunnel!!!

I think we should promote local cafes more. as a community we should help support the local businesses more instead of buying stuff from chains. I would highly recommend to go to this cafe if you are in the area and definitely try the lemon muffins

Great local coffee place with rotation of drinks including alcohol. Great place to study or get work done as well. My favorite drinks have been the bourbon coffee concoction they used to have (cant remember the name) and the Mayan mocha with a hint cayenne in it, both are great drinks. Every coffee Ive tried has been flavorful and ranged from above average (6.5/10) to great (10/10) just depending on what they had in and I chose that day.The staff has always been great. They will answer any questions informatively without seeming smug or uppity, and they will gladly just have a conversation if they are not busy.I would highly recommend a visit to this place if youve never been and for sure stop by if your in the area. You wont regret it.

Great modern cafe in charming downtown liberty.

I see why it’s rated the best coffee shop in Liberty on Trip Advisor. They’re beans are roasted well and the coffee taste is obviously very important to them. I really enjoyed the breve and oat milk latte. It’s on an old bank which creates a cool aesthetic. Like how there’s a cool little loft to sit at on the way up the stairs. It’s a great stop not too far off the interstate but far enough to see the Downtown area. Well worth a few extra minutes.

We love Hammerhand! Coffee is amazing! Theyve started doing more roasting their own coffee so next time you are in I suggest you pick-up a bag for home. My go to drink is the espresso milkshake with caramel. Great place to come grab a coffee and meet friends or get some studying/work done. Also its in downtown Liberty which is such a cool place.

Love this local coffee shop! The staff always seems to be happy and takes the time to get to know you! The coffee is some of the best I have had anywhere! Love that you can order ahead from the website so it makes it an easy stop on your way to work! The hours are great as well! Keep it up!

First off, these people are super friendly. There is no snobbery here. That said, the coffee is up to par. They know what they are doing both roasting and brewing their coffee and it shows. If you want to know more about the coffee they will happily comply. The space is also great. It can get busy, but Im always able to find a seat.

Love it! They have pastries from Scratch Bakery and the drinks are exceptional. It is a great place to work and read, plus it is a wonderful local place in a cute downtown.

Hammerhand is a staple for Liberty residents and hope they stay! Inside is an inviting, bustling coffee shop filled with regulars; teens, local college students/study groups, and businessmen/women. Modern comfortable feel inside and all your favorite coffee, teas, a few pastries and even savory options. Not all coffee houses carry cold brew, my preferred coffee, but Hammerhand does so its on my regular rotation! There are a few tables outside along a quaint street.I appreciate being open later in evenings despite the rest of the area is almost a ghost town after 6pm!Dont miss the photo op around to the side of the brick you can get take an angel wing photo!

I enjoy seeing the different personalities restaurants and cafes have. Came here to check it out and grabbed a blueberry muffin and cappuccino. Everything was great from taste to service. Atmosphere was friendly and inviting. Check this place out if youre in the area.

The coffee is great and the service is always friendly. Ive had several drinks here and they are always spot on. The dirty chai is one of my favorites and the Mayan has the perfect amount of spice.The location is charming and easily situated with parking close by.There is also a little mural/photo op outside for kids and adults.

The coffee seemed okay nothing out of ordinary. Had higher expectations. Nice facility. Clean and staff are nice. (To owners nice ideas) individual shelf for people to add their sugar flavors etc. Instead of being on the front counter! Other than that decent coffee shop!

The coffee is very good, I have nothing but praise for the LOCAL coffee shop. Have not been in the shop a ton but staff has always been nice and helpful. I buy my coffee in small bags and grind my own so I am in and out very quickly.Good to see the owner responding to comments and TRYING to resolve complaints.

I personally dont do coffee and wasnt in mood for hot chocolate but my friends said everything was awesome! My waistline was happy I didnt see the cookies and muffins until we were walking out the door!

The best coffee shop in Liberty! My wife and I walked our dog here from our house, they even had a bowl of water set out for pets. I ordered the espresso sidecar and it was delicious.

Usually pretty good unless they forget something in your order to go...sure they will refund you or give you what they forgot if you drive back, but sometimes people dont want to drive all the way back to the store after they have already been there. Additionally some of the employees are rude, and some are the sweetest people I have ever met. Three stars.

Great place to get coffee right on the historic square in downtown Liberty. The atmosphere is quite relaxing. You can sit out on the sidewalk in nice weather. They even leave water out for dogs. The coffee is wonderful.

This place is voted as one of the best coffee shop in the KC area. It’s a little far up north in Liberty but it’s worth a trip to the historic downtown. Ordered the latte and it has a very smooth texture with a slight taste of chocolate.

We stopped in for a first time for National Coffee Day. We were intentional about selecting a new experience away from the big chains to celebrate coffee and supporting a local business. Our experience was meh. There was no welcome upon entering and the staff were less than enthusiastic. One latte and one bakery item, both of which were less than tasty, cost over $11.I guess our prior experiences with privately owned coffee shops were always exceptional - excellent product and staff/customers that were friendly and inviting. This was, unfortunately, the exception.

Hammerhand makes tasty coffee and has amazing cinnamon rolls. I drink my coffee black, so appreciate good coffee. Price is a little on the high side, in my opinion. Breakfast burritos are pretty good if you are OK with potato in your burrito.

It was a cool rainy day, when I stepped into Hammerhand. What a perfect experience I had.....The interior was light and open, while still being cozy. The decor was what I would consider modern, and hipster without the pretentious edge that is sometimes experienced in other coffeehouses.The menu looked like it changed from day to day, (computerized) and boasted of house made flavor syrups. I was excited about that, but that excitement grew as I read some of their roasted bean tasting notes. New concept, but reminiscent of Oddly Correct, and Monarch bean offerings.The front desk staff was so nice, accommodating, and explanatory. Does anyone realize how hard that is to find at certain coffeehouses?? I immediately gravitated towards a pour over coffee that featured tasting notes of lemon, and nougat. The pour over arrived at my table in a glass beaker, accompanied by a small coffee cup on a wood tray. The lemon was the predominate flavor, and was most sharp at a lukewarm temp. To my surprise the nougat notes were tasted only at a cooler temp.That cup went down smooth, and left me wishing for more!I will be a repeat customer for sure. The conversation flowed at our table, and we probably overstayed our welcome. Warm fuzzies, Hammerhand, warm fuzzies......

A very cool coffee shop in downtown Liberty. The atmosphere was very hip and inviting. The staff was polite and efficient as well. We ordered a few coffees and pastries and hung out for a while. The bathroom could have been better, but that is my only qualm.

Hammerhand Coffee is a great hangout spot on the Historic Square in Liberty. With a great selection of drinks and coffee, Hammerhand is a great place to meet a friend, or have a casual meeting. The atmosphere provides a modern rustic feel, and the milkshakes are fantastic. If you hangout there long enough you start to learn a out secret menu items as well. Definitely a great place to have coffee.

Im delighted to find a proper coffee shop in Liberty. This place is spot-on. The coffee was excellent, made beautifully and with attention to detail. I got a single origin pour over, and they nailed it. They also serve beer. There is a large area inside for people that want to camp out with laptops at the tables. A sign said college students get discount here with student ID.

Good coffee, kinda pricey (just like any other coffee shop) and nice relaxing atmosphere. Wasnt impressed with the staff but I went in after the tree lighting ceremony. Not acceptable but understandable. When I walk by Hammerhand it always seems like the staff is always having fun.

Great experience, very good coffee. I highly recommend the pourovers.I had a good time studying at a table there for a few hours on a Saturday afternoon. I really liked the subtle Lord of The Rings theming of the shop too.

Went here for the first time today. No greeting when I walked in. Went in to order a tea for myself and a coffee for my husband. Im not a coffee drinker so Im not overly familiar with the lingo but I asked for a coffee with some sort of vanilla flavoring. We dont have that. Im pretty sure Ive heard my husband order that at other places but ... okay. Do you have any flavored coffee? He told me he could add vanilla flavored soy milk. Thats my only option? His reply was, yep. Okay, so friendly customer service isnt this guys thing. Then I asked if they had the potato rosemary quiche ready yet since it was only about 1030. He turned around and looked in a cooler but then stood back up by the Square stand, away from where I was standing, and looked away from me. Do you have it? I asked. He replied, and I am not making this up, The quiche? I waited a second and said, I thought thats what you were looking for. Oh yeah. We have it. You want some? Someone needs to send a CS rep team in here to give a seminar!!! We ended up with a vanilla soy milk coffee, chai latte, and a COLD piece of quiche (he never asked if Id like it warmed) with NO FORK and NOT ONE NAPKIN. Wont go out of my to visit this place again and would advise the same of others.

Excellent coffee shop hiding in a suburb, Liberty, MO. Ok, it is a good 15 min drive from KC but it will be worthwhile and they open late. Now thats a rarity for a coffee shop. One more thing, they will make a single source espresso if you request.

An excellent place to study and wonderful service - The coffee portions are small, but the quality is amazing. The ambient noise isnt terrible - and the neighborhood is so quiet (obviously, because its Liberty). There are outlets near all of the tables, but some outlets are more conveniently placed than others. And the wifi is easy to connect to, although it can be a bit spotty. It seems to automatically disconnect at times, but if you reconnect, it usually turns right back on

The staff is always kind, equipped and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is great for all kinds whether working or socializing. The coffee is amazing I suggest a latte (my personal fave) iced or hot, always a nice smooth finish. Great place to hang if you have an hour or want to be there open to close!

Stopped in after a morning appointment on the square. I got an iced latte and it tasted good. It was busy and almost all the seats were taken. The venue has high ceilings so it felt noisy fun the echoing. Also, needs some blinds.

Trendy place near campus. Wasnt super busy on a Sunday morning but some light traffic. Quick service and very tasty options for pastries with your drink. Solid amount of seating for the size of the place.

Great atmosphere! Top three coffee location in the metro for me. Great place to sit and work; to visit; or to bring the kids. Now, to add to it all, they are roasting their own coffee and actually have it on the shelves in Hyvee. So exciting to see this doing so well and its great for the Historic Square district .

Ive had a lot of coffee in KC (frequent Oddly Correct, Second Best, & Post Coffee). Hammerhands brew was really good. The staff were more pleasant than some places can be, very helpful, though understanding that theyre new they explain the menu as often as possible. The shop itself has clear points of custom design and signs that its potentially temporary until they maybe move back to where they originally planned around the corner? Needless to say, its a magical place to gather for coffee.

I love going to coffee shops, I am always on the hunt for new ones. Being in the right coffee shop can make you forget about your troubles even if only for awhile (and this one is close to my office). That being said, I have yet to find a coffee shop better than this one. Some shops come close, but this one is outstanding. Hammerhand has the perfect atmosphere and its in the perfect location. The interior and exterior design is very tasteful and unique. Furthermore, the baristas are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about their craft. Last but not least, the coffee is unparalleled. I especially love their cold brew, straight. I will be piling family and friends into my vehicle tomorrow and driving 40 minutes to experience this place yet again.

Nice independent coffee place on the beautiful Liberty Square. Located in a beautiful corner of an historic building. The staff is wonderful and friendly, always willing to offer personalized recommendations. They rotate a selection of fair trade coffee with a full backstory on each variety.

I haven’t visited their shop yet but must say their coffee is exemplary, very agreeable to my AeroPress method.
