Was looking at unfinished cabinets for a remodel project and the lady working in the back for the kitchen area was extremely rude to my father and I, and we only had a few questions and talked down to us because we didn’t know the technical terms for all the cabinets. Even though that was part of the few questions we were asking.. and I had also asked about the unfinished cabinets and she told me how cheap I was if I were to purchase that. So basically this lady was very unfriendly, not helpful. Most defiantly not taking my business there for my house remodel. 0 stars if I could

Lumber prices very competitive. As of July 31, 2021, 8ft 4x4s cost $7.48 at Sutherlands, $7.57 at Home Depot.

Normally I like this place been going here fir many years, but tonight the main older lady I see at register all the time was disrespectful and ignored everyone. Teenage kid at reg 2 light was on had a line of about 5 customers, reg 2 light on but both emotes were at other counter talking to a guy, the kid says Im backed up, and the older woman I front of everyone says were busy deal with it. Seriously embarrassing the employee in front of everyone. 1 customer said something she didnt care. Lost my respect and my business. I support local but if thats how u treat not only customers but your employees, nope I wont shop there. I work in customer service and the first rule is customer courtesy, you dont ignore customers. And you dont treat others that way infront of people.

Bought hanging baskets at the hanging basket sale (5.99 each) and every one of the purple petunia baskets died, even though we treated them just like the other baskets and protected them from the cold weather. Sutherlands won’t let us return or exchange them. We’ve bought all of our flowers from there in the past. We’ll be going to Lowe’s now since they guarantee their plants.

Quality products found at a good price. There were plenty of people helping out as well.

Have been shopping at Sutherlands for 50 years. Liberty stores employees are so lazy they wouldnt come out from behind the service center.to help. They would just say its down this isle. It wasnt. It happened 3 times. I finally said Ive had enough. I will be shopping at Menards from now on. I believed in giving Sutherlands my local business because they have been around so long. I believe this store will be closing soon if they dont change their ways

They always take time to make sure you get what is appropriate for you without having you buy what you dont really need.And go out of their way to verify the product.I asked about a sale item while I was checking out and the cashier had one brought to the register while we were checking out.It was like an old time service .

I had 3 people that stop me and ask if I work there.I couldnt even find help myself.Not sure how this place stays in business.Most employees are mean and dont want to help you .I went because its the closest to my house .No help for anythingEmployees/ owners are Rude.

Twice in the Liberty, Mo store an older associate has been rude to me (2 different associates one female yesterday and one male today). If I want to be treated like an inconvenience to the people who are supposed to be helping I can go to the big box stores. Completely disappointed and not going back.

The 2 older people there werent friendly at all. Just looked at us. Sitting on a barstool . Using the return lane, not a regular lane. So we asked where we could check out at, and they said well, over here. Just think thats pretty lane to go to a store like this thinking ahead that wed deal with some friendlier folk than that. At least a boy was working there and asked if we needed help finding something.

Had to wait almost 5 minutes for help that wasnt cool. I never give a 5 rating because of things like this there is always room for improvement and waiting 5 minutes for help needs improvement.

Its sutherlands annual 3.99 hanging basket sale. I go every year and get beautiful annual hanging baskets to enjoy all year and save lots of money. All you have to do is hanging around your yard for instant beauty...I love it!

Complaint for one of their subcontractors- Since their subcontractor has no online or social media presence, with the exception of their website stating that they are the storage building provider for Kansas Citys Sutherlands locations, this review reflects the type of workers representing Sutherlands.I saw a YouTube video of one of their trucks clearly marked Black Arrow Builders using an on ramp to pass on the right at high speeds. The youtuber states that he called and the company would not take a driving complaint. There is an audio of that call, and they were more interested in the callers vehicle, never once got the complaint information or even asked what the traffic violation was. I saw the video and it was clear that they dont care about safety of others. They flew past a car with 2 infant in the back, in the video they zoomed in on that and the logo on the truck so it was very clear. I would never use them, I can not recommend them and shame on Sutherlands for allowing them to affect their image.

The dbag guy who runs this place almost hit me with his truck in the parking lot

Purchased 40 16x16 blocks. Cashier said someone would assist me with loading the blocks. No one showed up. Went back in to complain and it took 15 minutes or more for shift supervisor Andy to respond. He really didnt seem to care, just wanted to give me a discount. I just wanted customer service. Not something for free. Ill shop elsewhere next time.

I called from my cellphone in the store 3 times to get help. Finally after the third time they sent help. Four employees standing at the register when we got up front.

No stars for this store. Either their associates need additional training or their system of registers are set up wrong by design. I did not get the sale price the first time I checked out. I was OK with the mistake and asked them to correct the mistake. Cashier did not know how to; called the manager he could not figure the issue out either. Yet after some time they were able to get it figured out. They gave me a receipt showing the credit back to my card then the correct sale price on the new receipt. Then I asked for some help to load large 155 lb box with my new smoker in it into my vehicle. The response was well I can see if someone will answer my page and send them out to help you. No one ever showed up in the parking lot to help. Fortunately another customer was nice enough to help me load it. This was my first and last time ever doing business with the location. I checked my account for the credit; guess what it is not there. I spoke to a lady at the store and she informed me it will take 10 days for the credit to hit my account. So in the mean time they have charged my account twice. She had a great lack of concern for my situation. Oh by the way if you bank with Platte Valley Bank do not plan on using your bank card here.

The store is always empty and finding someone to help you? Good luck. Customer service less than ideal for sure. Only reason I come here is for small purchases close to home

Was looking for plastic cove molding and found it after very helpful salesman showed me location.

Went to buy traps that went on sale today. They have none. Ordered in July and supposed to be there, but have not got. Why put on sale if you dont have them?

This place has been deteriorating for some time. Particularly in the area of customer service. Although I once frequented Sutherlands quite often, I now will drive 6-7 minutes further to get my home improvement items at Lowes. However, yesterday, I was right there leaving an adjacent business and decided to stop in to make a needed purchase. Walked by one employee at the contractor counter who made no acknowledgment of my presence and one other who diverted so as to not walk by me. Approaching the sales counter, the very unenthusiastic cashier began berating the woman in front of me for paying with a $100 bill. When her apology to not having smaller change didnt appease him, he launched into a tirade about people like her making small purchases with $100 bills all while slamming items around obviously throwing a temper tantrum. He seemed a little subdued when I chastised him for his behavior but no apologies, no graciousness for hers or my business. Nothing but a clear invitation to conduct our business elsewhere. Invitation accepted.

I went to this Sutherlands location this past weekend to get stuff to plant some flowers. At least three aisles were blocked with flat beds to carry pallets around. There were no workers around the flat beds. They had plants and flowers outside with great prices, so there were a ton of people there. I got a few flowers and went inside to get some potting soil and mulch. I had to weave through dozens of people checking out because they had two checkouts open and everyone was squished in a tiny area. I went back to the garden area. I found the potting soil, but it was really heavy. I couldnt lift it. I looked for an employee to help, but couldnt find one anywhere. I just grabbed the smaller bag and started looking for mulch...everywhere. I never found it or an employee. I finally just left. I was so frustrated. I couldnt buy what I needed so I certainly was not going to wait in line for 20+ minutes!Against my better judgement I went back to Sutherlands because I only needed two items. I could not find a single employee actually doing their job to help me find the items. After searching, I found the items on my own. I went to the counter to checkout. The woman at the counter was busy texting and looked up after I had been standing there for too long. She said Oh, in an annoyedI have to do my job voice. When I was finished paying she literally left my items on the counter and walked away. She did not put them in a bag, ask if I wanted a bag, or thank me for coming in. Even though Sutherlands is close to my house I will not be going back. I have no idea how they stay in business. I hardly ever see customers, but I always see at least 10 employees socializing...

There were no more than 5 people shopping in the store, me included, but at least 10 employees sitting under the lawn canopy in the store. I couldnt find something and asked for help. One guy said, Oh, I dont feel like moving. Can someone help this guy? Of all the people collecting a check sitting around, there was only a single guy actually working in the aisle. He made it very clear he wasnt too impressed with the level of sloth. You could tell the employee was visibly embarrassed by his coworkers.People can buy lumber, mowers, hoses, and home improvement supplies at a lot of places. So why in the world, when I have to drive past Feldmans, Lowes, Preverts, and Home Depot, would I ever shop here again? Theres no reason.
