When I went in looking to test out headphones, an employee offered incredibly useful and insightful advice. He let me try his personal headphones to get a feel for the sound when they were connected to a phone rather than an amp. When the store didnt actually have to model I decided on in stock, he didnt push me to order through them and said he was more than happy just sharing his passion for headphones with another person.

Wanted a specific bass that had been on order through a different source but kept getting backordered. No biggie, but I figured Id just get it through my local GC store. Now, Ive got a decent collection of all things music and every time I go into this store, I meet cool people. The staff are always interested in what I need and are ready to go the extra mile. At first, the guy told me that it was still on backorder and I might not get it until next year. By now, Id been waiting for several months and this is the one I wanted. So I decided to have him order it. Two days later, it arrived! Awesome service!

Great place for normal guitars at the budget end of the spectrum. If youre looking for something high end, go to Wilcutt. This place is perfect for lower end guitars and various other musical instruments and equipment that smaller shops cant afford to spend floor space on.

Always enjoyed looking around and shopping here but, this trip was different. I was only able to find half of what I needed, as inventory on almost everything was very low or out of stock. Also, this store had always been immaculate until today. It was total chaos, everything out of place, dirty and disorganized.I could have ordered what I needed from Amazon, for cheaper no doubt, but I came for the tangible experience Guitar Center usually provides. This time, I shouldve skipped the trip.

Wide selection and very helpful employees

I buy various items here, but i never leave here without my go-to items: strings and cables. Their cables have a lifetime guarantee, so since I’m in there a lot, it makes sense to buy cables there. Staff is helpful. Look for the veterans if you want in-depth advice on things like microphone types and different usages. Great store!

My rating is on my most recent visit. The guy that helped me couldnt find the amplifier I was l was looking for, he offered to sell me the floor model at full price, even though he argued that it wasnt used it clearly had something spilled on it also told me it didnt have a warranty, even went as far to tell me one out of the box had no warranty. I inquired about the paperwork that the floor model should have, he told me that it didnt come with any. I walked around the store and located at least 3 of the amps I was looking for, he appeared to be amazed and asked where I found them. Once I got the new in the box amp home I found a packet of paperwork and warranty info citing that it has a 2 year warranty (which I already knew). My previous visits were good. Im not sure if the clerk this time was having a bad day or what but he shouldnt have treated a customer this way. In the past year I have spent close to 2K with guitar center, not to mention what I have spent with musicians friend. I may have to start shopping Sweetwater and my local shops.

Amazing used selection great staff

Have done buisness at this location for many years and always have gotten a fair deal until today.This is the first time Ive ever tried to tried to trade in anything with them also and got very insulted .I understand trade value but dont try to give someone 40% trade value on a guitar you will sell for $2000 used.I will not do buisness anymore with them not even a set of strings.Insulted by a arrogant consultant.

I came in to buy a drum set and stood around for almost 30 minutes before I decided to leave. No employees even tried to help me.

Very good selection of guitars and accessories. Staff was super helpful and informative with my purchase of an acoustic guitar. Much better than previous guitar center experiences in Columbus Ohio.

This is THE place to buy new AND used instruments...the selection of guitars is amazing! Even if youre just learning to play, all of the instruments are there for you to try out. The staff is friendly, knows their sh** and very helpful. They also have a decent selection of books if youre looking for a song to learn AND a selection of vinyl records, a few Funko Pops! and a bunch of neat things for you Beatles fans!

Fun to go play with gear, but seems like they were out of everything when we went. Likely this was due to the holidays, but still felt bare.

I bought several LIVE WIRE cables from them. The guy that sold them to me told me about the warranty. He said if they FAIL just bring them back and we will give you one in exchange. Well one did FAIL. I took it in, they got a new one off the shelf and handed it to me. IT WAS THAT EASY!! I know 4 chords and I am HOOKED on guitar center!!!!!

As far as products and pricing go, Guitar Center is nothing to go nuts over. Nothing overpriced, but nothing special either. Where they really shine is the services they provide for your gear! I have a six string bass that was having some neck problems due to humidity and I got a great deal that included truss rod alignment, smoothing out the frets that were hanging over the sides of the neck, and a good cleaning for about $100 less than I was expecting to pay.

Great musical instruments and lessons available as well. Bought a harmonica here and it ended up being good quality. You can also play the musical instruments from guitars to basses and pianos. Friendly staff. There are also ukeleles and more obscure instruments like the xylophone. There are also supplies such as Reeds and guitar straps. There are always employees available as well. Nice atmosphere overall.

An awesome selection of guitars and percussion items. Only thing keeping me from at star review is that it was hard getting around the store in a wheelchair. Several places I couldnt get to in the store.

I was shopping for an upgrade to my current acoustic guitar and was planning to spend a fair bit on it. I tried another local guitar shop first, the one where my other instruments came from years ago. They were not terribly helpful. When I plan to buy an expensive instrument, I expect a little one on one time and instead when I asked about the particulars of their selection, I got short answers of the brands only and no offer of specific help.I went to this guitar center location next and was very pleased. They were courteous and helpful without being intrusive. The staff was knowledgeable about the specific instruments. They even clued me in on an upcoming sale. Im very happy with my purchase from this guitar center location and would go back.

Mostly excellent, absolutely I was extremely happy about my last visit. Because I found a stellar deal on a banger practice guitar and left the store with a guitar that I did not plan to buy.The employees are always great and this time the place wasnt too loud with the sounds of overly excited novice players. However, I had to take away points due to way too many of guitars not being properly setup. Seriously, who wants to buy a guitar that you have to bring back a week later for a $60 setup? While I usually set up my own guitars, its still a hassle. Trust that many of the customers are not fooled by guitars being tuned down a whole step.

This place has WAY MORE than guitars! They have all things musical. Their percussion section is great, and the salesman was helpful and knowledgeable. They also offer music lessons! They are friendly, well staffed, and competitively priced. Im so glad I found this place!

Its easy to see why Guitar Center is always on the list of chain stores that are about to close. I have been to hundreds of music stores in my life. That is by no means an exaggeration. As a touring musician and an avid guitar flipper at one point in my life if I saw a music store I stopped in. The Lexington Guitar Center was one if the worst stores Ive been to. The staff was just hanging around on their phones or chatting it up with the regulars that popped in. There were 2 employees standing by the listening rooms on their phones. I was there to buy a turntable for my audio system. The first time I was there my girlfriend and I stood around and tried to get assistance but didnt so we left. Being that this was the only local store that had what I wanted I got the turntable there. It took us five minutes to get helped to buy what we wanted. I love the turntable but Im never going back.

I was really impressed with the staff. They were readily available to answer questions and help me make an informed decision in a low end electric guitar purchase. These guys know what they are talking about and are willing to share it with you without making you feel stupid. Sometimes in music stores, especially those that deal with guitar sales, there can be an air about them. If you are just starting out like I am, they can be very off-putting. These guys just love music and are more than willing to help without being condescending.

This is an excellent place to go to get your music supplies not just for guitars they have drums and amplifiers and many other things I really dont know much about music but the people I want with thought this place was excellent they do sell a lot of things on consignment are possibly used I cant tell.There are extremely good people working there that are knowledgeable and can help you out with any questions you may have.

Extremely disappointed...was there with a friend who wished to purchase many items. As he was looking for them he showed me pretty much the whole store..nice..BUT..no greeting or acknowledgement whatsoever during the more than half an hour we were there. 3 people behind the counter with one sitting right on it.. all talking together...SAD.

It’s an okay store but it really depends on what employee you’re speaking to. Sometimes it’s a great experience and other times I feel incredibly unwelcome as someone who is just starting out with a stringed instrument. I feel like I’m being made fun of sometimes. Maybe I’m paranoid on that end but there are a few employees who are incredibly short and snide, and seem as if they don’t want anything to do with their customers. They seem as if they do not want to be there.

Im not a huge fan of corporate music chains but I have to admit that having a Guitar Center in town is handy. Their prices on strings and accessories are hard to beat. Youre not going to find that elusive vintage axe youve been craving but youre going to get a fair deal on whatever you do buy. Ive only actually bought one acoustic guitar there, in fact. I was happy with the guitar and with the employees who helped me. I also had some fretwork and a setup done on a Strat there once - needed ASAP - and was also happy.

Im very happy with my experience at Guitar Center. We had a problem with a UPS shipment and the manager of the store did everything in her power to make it right, definitely went above and beyond. I could not be happier with the experience there and well definitely be back to buy more instruments

I visited just to browse electronic keyboards. I had three employees throughout the store courteously ask me if me if I needed anything. Since I was just doing a quick recon, mostly to see what these things cost for a variety if features I didnt want to tie any of them up.

If you need anything other than strings, theyre not much help. One person in the whole store (Bob) has any knowledge.. the other employees are just basically going thru the motions. Used to have plenty of parts on hand, now very limited...you would have better luck at a Mom & Pop music store...

I brought an inherited guitar that had been neglected for likely over a decade, and the repairman there, Mike, was phenomenal! He worked with me to find the pieces I needed (a few older pieces were broken), and helped me maintain the integrity and history of an heirloom while also bringing it back to life/putting it all together! He was extremely kind and very knowledgeable, and treated my instrument as if it was his own. I would recommend thier services to anyone. Thank you so much for helping me this evening!

Good selection of new and used gear. In my experience, employees do sometimes recommend newer / higher priced gear, but Ive never felt pressure to choose anything other than what I am interested in.Really only criticism is, walking in, it can be hard to locate items in store that youve researched online and verified is in stock. But having said that, just asking employees about it they always know what it is and where it is.Lexington store is fairly well setup, no major problems. Employees at Lexington store are great... helpful and knowledgeable.

I took my 20 year old guitar in to the guitar tech, Mike. He greeted me outside while he was on his break and said, Lets take a look. He immediately told me what he suggested it needed and gave me a hands on demo of how it would improve its playability (lowering the action and adjusting the truss) he gave me a price with no pressure whatsoever.I agreed and was prepared to leave it for a few days. Mike said hed do it while I waited! It took about 15 minutes!Now I feel like I have a new instrument because of the adjustments. Cant believe it took me 20 years to have it done.Cant say enough about Mike. Thorough, patient and knowledgeable. Take your guitar to him if you think you need anything done at all.

You really need to pay attention whos in here, there are good and knowledgeable people, and there are some that really dont know much. Its a good place to be most of the time, and I generally enjoy being on there most days. That being said some of the used items need servicing and they charge extra for that.

They can be very helpful and knowledgeable. This is about the only affordable music place in Lexington that offers gear for bands. The only downside is sometimes the staff can be hard to find or very busy. Other than that, worth stopping by.

A nice spot for beginners and intermediate level musicians. Youll need to go somewhere else if you want a good selection of high quality instruments. Other than that nice shop.

Apathetic staff.

The staff was very courteous and knowledgeable. I was really out of my element in the store but with their expertise and kindness I was made to feel right at home. I would feel comfortable recommending them to family and friends.

Theyre overpriced. They offer you a trade in value and then wont honor it. Good place to try out equipment but save yourself some cash and go to Willis or order from musicians friend.

I was interested in RainSong guitars, but they did not have any in stock. An internet search of this stores web site indicated they were in stock. I was also interested in some music, but nothing available for me. Guess I will order off of the internet.

The staff were not very welcoming to a person that came in and had questions about wanting to start learning how to play the guitar and what may be needed to do so. Only one employee seemed interested to do so.

Look, Lexington Guitar Center is what it is: its a small-town Guitar Center -- I think they call it a Class C store -- with a lot of entry level items, a reasonable amount of mid-level products, and very few high-end selections.If you are shopping for a Gibson Hummingbird or a similar high-end product, and you havent considered driving to Nashville or Cincinnati to have access to exponentially more selection, and more informed salesmanship, thats completely on you, and not on the Lexington Guitar Center staff. And if it isnt worth the drive to find the right guitar -- then youve got nothing to complain about. You deserve what you get.I have found the staff at Lexington Guitar Center to be very friendly and real. Ive shopped at Guitar Centers all over the place and theres nothing wrong with the Lexington staff whatsoever. In Sacramento, California (a crummy Guitar Center store if there ever was one) I had a guy repeatedly lie to my face about products to try to coerce me to buy what they had in stock vs. what else was available. (He didnt comprehend that I had done my homework before I popped in to his life...)Heres some tips:--- be nice to the salespeople and they will reciprocate--- check out the used gear, which in Lexington fetches a lower price than in any cosmopolitan city--- dont expect the GC employees, who earn little more than people making chili dogs at Dairy Queen, to have done your product research for you
