There are a lot of poor reviews mentioning bad service. Although the servers are not the most friendly, it is a diner and I dont go to diners for top notch service. My server today did her job fast and efficiently, and the food was delicious, at a great price point. The bathroom was also immaculate, considering how busy the restaurant was.Been here twice and will be back. Favourite diner in the city.
Loved the food here. It was very filling. I was not expecting to get 3 perfectly poached eggs and a large amount of smoked salmon. I highly recommend the smoked salmon eggs Benedict, get it with the home fries fried twice! They are on coffee refill all the time, it was really good service. It did take a long time, maybe 20+ mins for us to get a seat. They only have a few outdoor tables and from the looks of it, a lot of frequent customers who enjoy being there sipping coffee. I recommend trying this diner but if youre on a time crunch just take into consideration it may take some time to get a table.
My in-laws decided to spring a surprise invitation to the West End diner on us as they have been regulars for years and have wanted to return now the citys COVID restrictions are relaxing as more and more are fully vaccinated.The soup of the day was Beef & Barley and it was delicious. Hearty and warming. Exactly what I wanted out of my soup. My partner had the fettuccini alfredo and I had the hot turkey sandwich. The portion sizes here are the best part hands down. They fill up your plate and takeaway is almost expected!The biggest drawback was the prices for the lunch/dinner menu. It seems COVID has been hard on everyone and simple meals have gone up to almost 15+ dollars a plate for some items. The breakfast menu is still consistently affordable though so I would recommend for breakfast!All-in-all we will be returning as usual but maybe a bit less frequently as the price raises have made it a bit more difficult.Please consider trying this West End staple!
First time here... will definitely be back. He had theHot Beef, I had the Hot Turkey... 😋 😋 😋The beef gravy was a little strong for my taste but still good... he loved it!!!
Had a very OK experience here. The food was spectacular for the price, and most of the staff was very friendly to greet us. The only reason I didn’t give it a five stars is the waitress who was quite rude to our table. We had a couple questions we wanted to clarify with her as she was taking our order, but she gave us a dirty look and didn’t answer it. Had to repeat the question to her until she did, and gave us a very vague response. Other than that this place is great, would definitely come again
I have eaten here twice…just finished having fish ‘n chips and it was wonderful!My boyfriend and I were visiting from Montreal and had to return to eat here. What made it even more great was the waitress, Dani. She’s exactly how a waitress should be: sharp, courteous and kind. I hope that this diner knows how lucky they are to have her…
Great place. Great food. We had the hot beef which was delicious and the gravy was so good. We ordered the chicken parmigiana, it was so huge and the sauce was tasty. I finished the chicken, does that count? We also had the chicken souvlaki, authentic Greek taste.
Very good food for reasonable price. Servers are amazing and friendly. Sometimes its too cold for dine in, but it could just be me. Lol. Overall, 5 stars for a dine in restaurant.
This was my first time at West End Diner and not my last. Simply delicious! My daughter and son-in-law are regulars and now I know why. When my mom and I first walked in I saw four men in the kitchen who looked very experienced and I knew it was going to be good ~ I don’t know why I wasn’t expecting much. I have driven by a million times on my way to Dundas and always thought it looked very inviting but I just don’t know why I never went there. My mother had the liver & onions and I had the pork Schnitzel both large portions and done perfectly. Looking forward to the leftovers tomorrow!
We’ve been here multiple times over the past 3 years. Today we stopped in around 10:30 for breakfast. We waited 15 minutes after being seated for a waitress to come to our table. It took another 15 minutes to get our drinks and the food took an hour to arrive even though it wasn’t busy. The food was good but the service was incredibly slow. For that reason, we won’t be back.
My husband and I have been regular customers since moving to the area in 2017. We have supported them during lockdowns with take out and have sat outside too, willing to wait because the food is very good.A waitress named Claudia has served us in the past and she has always been in a hurry, rude, not interested in customer service and so dismissive like we were inconveniencing her. Not how you should feel when you go out to enjoy a meal. We will not be returning after last Sunday’s lack of service. I told the other waitress of our disappointment. She apologized for the Claudia. Not acceptable at all!! We waited 40 minutes for a basic breakfast. She didn’t come and say food is coming or check on us. She dumped the food in the table and left. So disappointing!!! Felt such a negative vibe the whole time.
Great food, great staff, great atmosphere. If you love places that serve all day breakfast then look no further than the West End Diner! It has an area for outside dining now during the Summer and possibly because of Covid-19 too. I cant say enough about how good the food is here! The menu has so many options to choose from.
Wonderful friendly diner...you can get pretty much anything here. Staff is very efficient and pleasant. Has a seniors and childrens menu. Usually busy so sometimes a lineup. Its our local.

The serving size is super large. Servers are efficient and polite . The Cook is kept busy but quick. We, 6 of us go often💜💜💜💜.

Ive never been so disgusted as I was today with the service. I asked if a meal would feed two and she snapped back one. BTW one meal does feed two. I dont know if it was because we were in our twenties that she found it acceptable to treat us that way. Only gave one star because food was good but service was deplorable. Enter with caution. Employees wearing masks seems to be at their discretion.

Love the food and cozy atmosphere. The owner. Seems to be on. Site which adds to the hometown feeling. There’s no wheelchair bathroom and they don’t make desserts for adults but that’s O. K their food makes up for it!!!

Overall experience was not good at all.1. The chef got angry and he was talking so loudly because two costumers left after waiting for a long time. The whole diner got silent immediately and that’s not what I expect in a beautiful morning.2. Waited 35min+ for my food that is the most basic one(3 eggs+toast+potatoes+ham) and the egg came really raw with a big portion of raw egg whites.3. Waitress took off the mask when talking to Chef right in front of a plate of food and put it back on when serving.
I was there for breakfast. Has a good breakfast and lunch menu. Service is good too. Also didnt have to struggle to get a parking spot so thats a bonus
My favorite local Diner. Wonderful staff and atmosphere, and food that has kept me coming back for years and years. Been feeding me since high school! Really cant say enough good things about the wonderful people who work here. Friendly and kind waitstaff, and a hardworking kitchen crew pull together for a restaurant with a lot of heart. One of my favorite things about living in the neighborhood. Whitney wouldnt be the same without this place. If youre looking for an affordable meal, but youre not sure what you want they have a great variety of things to choose from and I cant say Ive had a bad meal here. Always leave glad that I went.

Been 5 times at West End Dinner. Service, meals still excellent, meals large servings, done the way you want it. Diner very clean. Next time in Hamilton will go there for my meals.

Today morning we went for breakfast. Food was amazing. We felt some food servers were not treating us properly but they were very lovely at other tables. We felt like there was discrimination.

Loved this place before covid and had a craving since they had the best diner breakfast in Hamilton. Ordered breakfast on new years eve and it was prepared to be hot for pick up and remained hot until I brought it home. Cooked perfectly with huge portions and generous extra items (an extra egg for eggs benedict, tons of pemeal, fruit salad container full of fresh melon that was a bonus item!). And a side bag full of condiments that truly make breakfast - tons of ketchup, jam, peanut butter provided. Thank you!

Took my Dad here for our first post lockdown lunch date. We were lucky to get a table with the 10 person limit. They were following all proper protocols and everyone was evenly spaced out. My Dad had his favourite-liver and onions with a side of bacon and fries off the seniors menu. Came with a large bowl of beef barley soup and a coffee. I had delicious garlic shrimp with rice and veggies and a garden salad. Our waitress Fiona was awesome. She is the kind of waitress that would make you come back just for the service. It is obvious that she enjoys her job.

Our family has been going here for years and while it has had its ups and downs overall the portions are very large and the food is very tasty. The occasional bad service is normal at any restaurant and we never let one bad experience taint our opinion of a place.
Garlic Bread. $12.25!!!! With tax that’s about one hour’s worth of wage for a minimum wage employee.For what? A couple slabs of sub buns with a bit of melted butter and garlic seasoning? I would expect imported bread from France at that price 🥴Anyway. Point is - prices are ASTRONOMICAL and out of touch with reality for what you receive.
Ordered the fish and chips, food was so delicious. Had a small mix up with the order but management was quick to fix and so friendly. We will definitely come back again.

This used to be one of my favourite spots but it seems they are getting a little greedy.$21+ for a pork souvlaki diner (not a wrap) with only a tiny single skewer of meat? Any other Greek spot would have at least 2 skewers. I understand cost savings, but you can’t be stingy when charging that kinda money for a meal. Either lower the price, or be fair with the portions.The meal tasted ok, but also didn’t meet my expectations from past experiences with other dishes here. The vegetables that came as side were way overcooked and akin to something you’d find on a plate at an old age home.Sorry I wish I could say so thing good but I was really let down considering you guys were ones of my choice spots.I’m going to give them the benefit of doubt and give it one more try as past meals were great.

Took a break from the Royal Botanical Gardens for lunch last Thursday. The food was amazing and the staff very pleasant!
Has the classic diner look with quick service and delicious food. I enjoyed a waffle and eggs benedict with peameal bacon. The waffle was good but nothing special. The eggs benedict were delicious, with a side of fruit and homestyle potatoes. The soft poached eggs were made perfectly, with hollandaise sauce dripping over the egg and bacon. Would definitely recommend if youre craving breakfast good at any hour of the day
I purchased the Hungryman Breakfast and the Chicken Caesar Wrap with Fries. Both meals were finished. My Caesar meal.. the fries were hot, crispy and tasted great. The Wrap was awesome crispy lettuce with hot chicken and Caesar dressing. Oh! So! Good!

Wonderful breakfast with quick and friendly service.Came by for breakfast on a recommendation from a friend and was pleased with the experience. My regular breakfast meal was brought out in a timely manner and all components were delicious; the bacon was crisp but not oily, the sunny side up eggs were cooked but still jammy and the potatoes were nice and filling.The server came to check in and refill coffee frequently and was pleasant overall.If youre in the area and looking to enjoy your breakfast, come check out the West End Diner.

THE place for true, delicious, value centric, diner food! The smoked meat sandwich plate with fries, homemade Cole slaw, and sweet pickles is a top recommend. Be sure to add a 2nd sandwich for $0.25!! Chicken Parm with choice of spaghetti or fettuccine and sauce (tomato, meat, rosè, Alfredo), side salad or soup, and garlic bread is as good as Momma (sorry Mom) makes! Greek plates are a tasty Mediterranean journey, fresh and authentic. But wait theres more... BREAKFAST!!! Just cant say enough good things about The West End Diner!
Had to enjoy breakfast curb side style thanks to lockdown, but it was still delicious.
I had the fish and chips, wife had the veggie burger, both tasted great and were a good portion size.We also ordered the onion rings, which were crispy, and overall very tasty.Nice little diner with a cute atmosphere and great service.
