We have visited this Michaels a couple of times now when we are traveling. They always remember me and my service dog. Its clean and if your into crafts of all kinds this is the place to visit. Great staff and clean store. Plus now matter where my service dog and I went in Lawrence KS, everyone treated us great.

Nice place where you can get some pretty decent deals from time to time. An interesting alternative to hobby lobby.

They always have sales going on. If nothing else, there’s always 20% off regular priced items, but 40-60% entire areas around the store at any given time. They also give an extra 20% off on all sale or regular priced items to educators. It doesn’t include the clearance items, but things with clearance prices are next to nothing already! Things on clearance can be found in the back of the store- all in one isle!The one thing they price way too high are the artificial flowers, even on sale. I don’t think I’ve ever been there when they weren’t on sale either. A couple of times I have found one or two flowers or groups of flowers that were just within a reasonable price, while 60% off, but most of the time, I wouldn’t buy any fake flowers here. They are cheaper and just as, if not more attractive, regularly priced at Walmart.The home decor and outside spring & summer decor are my favorite areas within Michael’s. They have some really neat stuff and you can always find a deal! It’s a good place to pick up picture frames and shadow boxes too!Their arts and crafts selection appears to be fully exhaustive. They have DIY projects galore, from designing your own clothing line or using a circuit machine to embroider things around your house, to all the homemade jewelry you could ever want.I saw little diffuser rock bracelets there the other day, that take essential oils. I want to put on a bunch of these and go find conflict and see if walking nearby will diffuse the situation. 🤣

The Lawrence location always has what I need. I love that their clearance section is so large and I normally head there first. If you shop here, download a coupon first! It is totally a plus to be able to save on your hobbys

Michaels is a great craft store! There were many finds here, although I do loathe the lack of a fabric section. The employees were friendly enough without being overbearing. The cake decorating aisle was a blast, there were so many things to see and drool over :)

I was recommended to shop here for the crafts that I needed. Walked around the store for about 15 minutes trying to find help with my project. When I finally found someone who actually worked there I had to follow her around the store basically begging for help. She turned around and just looked at me. It wasnt until I threw my hands up like, come on, before she decided to help me. By this time I was fed up. She said she was helping another but I only saw 2 other people in the store. And she wasnt helping them. Probably the worst customer service Ive ever experienced. Call back to ask for the stores managers named and she proceeded to talk over me and completely ignore the original request of what was the managers name. Looked like the perfect store for what I needed. But the customer service in store was horrible. Then I called the corporate number to file a complaint and the customer there was equally as bad. I would never ever im my life recommend anyone EVER to go into this store. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE FROM RIDICULOUSLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. ITS BECAUSE OF THE CUSTOMERS THAT YOU HAVE A STORE AND JOB IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!!

The framing department is awesome, theyve always done a great job with our photographs that needed frames. You get a great deal when they have their amazing sales. Thats the time to get your pictures framed, weve been going to Michaels since 1986.

Amazing staff here. I dont remember her name, she was wearing a CKY shirt but I asked her if they had origami stuff and she lead me straight to a kids book on origami. My nephew is going to love it.

I had a great experience here, everything was easy to find and staff was friendly. Opal was especially friendly and polite. She was super professional and calm when there was a technical error with the register (printing the receipt) and maintained a nice conversation while sorting out the issue.

Im giving it 5 today as the store was pretty neat with only a few items misplaced. They were short on employees but with COVID, I may have just hit them at a busy time. They only had one of my items in stock but the quantity was limited online so I wasnt upset. They arent the only shop in town but Ill return. They have some really good sales!

Its a great craft store! Its got just about everything youd ever need, except for fabric. It has jewelery making supplies, paints, markers, sketch books, lots of seasonal decorations, organization tools, yarn, fake flowers, picture frames, scrap booking supplies, and lots of other things!

Love the instore coupons and reasonable prices. All staff is always friendly helpful and patient. I recommend this store to everyone. Thanks :)

The shevell were pretty empty

They have such a wide selection of crafting materials, I had a hard time deciding on what to make.

Employees are always nice here. The store itself always seems a bit picked over, never fully stocked and not totally orderly.

I always have a good experience shopping at my local Michaels. The last few weeks their sales and discounts have been phenomenal. Gave me a the opportunity to really stock up on beads. Cant say enough good things about the employees, so get these folks raises to a living wage!

Michaels you have lost my business which is a shame for you as I have an extremely large family. I made a 45 minute trip to use my coupon and it was denied because you had the item on a weekly sale. Your sales staff refused to honor the coupon and apply the coupon to the regular price of the item. Oh and the coupon does not even mention your computers or associates arent capable of overriding a regular price in the event the item goes on sale during the narrow time frame the coupon is valid, nice!!

Went in looking for a specific idem was having trouble locating said item so I ask for help and they pointed me right to the item. GREAT EXPERIENCE

The store was very clean, considering they were unpacking their Halloween stuff and getting it on the shelf. But I was approached by a worker because I wasnt wearing a mask. I said I had health issues, and even explained them even though I didnt have to because of HIPPA. The worker said ok and went and got another worker I tried to explain I couldnt wear one. She said then leave. She was very hateful, and rude. Its not my fault I have a health condition that makes it hard to breath. And a fast heart rate. My kids and I will not be back to this store unfortunately.

I’m surprised that I actually like a store that deals mostly in arts n crafts and seasonal decorations. But I gotta say man this particular one has a lot of useful stuff for me. And I’m by no stretch of the imagination a arts n crafts kind of dude. Plus the staff is helpful and very cool. When walking around like a lost puppy dog they swooped in and saved the day. I guess it was pretty obvious that I was out of my element lol.

Michael stores everywhere are amazing. They have wonderful, helpful staff, and you simply cannot beat their prices when they have sales going. I dont shop anyplace else for my painting, crafting, and framing supplies.

Even though i dont get most of my art supplies from michaels, i always enjoy swinging by to look at the deals. the price match policy is excellent (theyll even beat amazon by 10%), and the occasional 50 or 60% off coupons always bring me in.theyve also really expanded their offerings in a lot of areas, especially pens + markers. its really fun to see what stuff is on clearance, too. i wish they had more sketchbooks than just strathmore and canson pads, but thats certainly not this stores fault!!+ the staff is super nice, and one of the store managers regularly recognizes me and says hi :-)

I feel that all Michaels are pretty much the same. Sometimes this store feels disorganized and they have messed up online orders before. All in all a good store just not a five star rating in my book but I wouldnt hesitate to shop there.

Michaels is my go-to craft store in Lawrence. This visit, I was after some crochet yarn and found the color I needed, though muted greens seem to be the popular shade this season. I also get beads and findings for making and fixing jewelry, as well as polymer clay. Whenever I cant find something, the staff has been very helpful.

I hadnt been here for a while. It started my creative juices again.

I love the location.The store is organized and easy to find the item you need.The location is closer to all the other shopping places. It is easier for me to run error without spending too much time to drive in between. I can just combine the shopping trip.The on sale/clearance section is a big treasure box. You have to dig to find your prize.

Michaels is nice. I feel that they do not have as much to choose from as Hobby Lobby and are much more pricier than Hobby Lobby, but its a nice store, quality items. I will go again.

Like other reviewers, I agree that it seems like the staff doesnt know the inventory very well, but when you ask for help, they will do as much as they can to work with you. While some of the supplies here arent super specialized, its a reliable place to find beginning level materials for a variety of media. This is handy when youd like to be able to look at what youre purchasing and when youre not sure how much youd like to invest in a new hobby. Id choose Michaels over Hobby Lobby.

Usually Id give Michaels 4 stars because things are a little overpriced and hard to find but my last experience was more than deserving of 5 stars! I went to buy a gift for my boyfriend and needed help deciding so I consulted the associate. She gave great advice and also helped save me money. It was truly an incredible customer service experience.

Craft projects, school projects, and art projects; they have just about everything. Been taking the kids here for years and they enjoy finding new science or craft kits.I like shopping here for the holidays with our kids the most.

I needed size 4 knitting needles and yarn needles. They had both. They are extremely nice at our Michaels, especially Olivia.

Tried to get photo framing mats custom size and they were gonna charge me $24 just to cut a mat. Instead I left, went home, ordered online and got 3 custom cut mats for $27. This place tries to rip you off and the guy I asked for help gave me attitude. Never coming back again.
