I purchased my first guitar (Oscar Schmidt by Washburn), I am so excited. While I was in the store, my friend talked me into purchasing a recorder, because I always had a desire to learn to play a flute. She suggested I start with the recorder. Now, its time to take lessons for both instruments. I cant wait.What a wonderful experience. The sales person David was very kind and helpful. I look forward to doing business with the Family Music Center for many years to come, and will spread the word about the friendly service.Thank you for making my experience in purchasing my first musical instrument a wonderful memory my friend and I will have for a lifetime.

Terrific professional personal service is what it is all about at this music store. I visited this location to purchase acoustic guitar strings. I was promptly greeted and helped by Diana who is usually in charge of the gift and specialty items. Normally at large chain music stores I have to pay over $15 for a decent pair of strings but not at this music store they carry a variety of strings for a price that is less than major music stores. Example: DAddario Strings retail for $14.25 and I only paid $8.55 because they offer a discounted price for their patrons. If you live in Las Vegas or just visiting and need quick music supplies I definitely recommend visiting this store. They also provide lessons for most musical instruments at their location. This review is for Family Music Centers located on 8125 West Sahara Avenue in Las Vegas Nevada 89117.

Prices arent bad

I used to take piano and violin lessons here as a kid 15 years ago. Fast-forward to now: I graduated college, moved to another city, and now work full-time as a music teacher and M.A. candidate in piano pedagogy myself! Family Music, their friendly staff, and the magical learning environment filled with the right supplies, instruments, accessories, and services enriched and changed my life. My musical journey started here. You can’t go wrong with this place.

Bought a ukulele for my dsughter, staff was nice and didnt hawk eye me while I was browsing. Prices were good and the overall atmosphere was super cool! Would recommend and will shop at again.

Great selection of sheet music, but unless you’re in the market for a piano the staff is not friendly at all.

Horrible experience! These people keep charging me even after my balance (payments for buying an instrument) is paid off.I have contacted them several times, sent emails, went in in person... after bouncing me around from person to person they agreed to stop the automatic withdrawals. But they never stop! Nobody seems to know anything AND they have lost my contract!!!They don’t responding to my emails anymore either.I might have to take this to court, which I really don’t have time for. But I am outraged!

We purchased a piano in January that arrived damaged. Despite multiple emails, phone calls, and an in-person visit, two months later the issue is yet to be resolved. The experience of buying the piano was excellent - the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. But the experience since has been incredibly frustrating and disappointing.

Worst music store in Las Vegas. Terrible product and customer service. Took my daughter there to buy a Reed for her to practice over the summer. Both of the associates made comments how horrible the reeds they sold were, my question to that is why are you selling then? They wouldnt allow her to open and inspect it to make sure it wasnt cracked, and you guessed it, cracks in 3 different places. After a 30 min drive there and home, I have one extremely upset musician. I will never shop from family music again. Kessler might be a long drive but Id rather get better service and save on gas money.

Not very helpful or friendly. Went there to purchase a violin for my daughter and no one was available. There were two individuals behind the cash register. We waited for them to complete what they were doing (no other customers around.) We waited for about 20 minutes and walked out. Worst service I have ever had... anywhere. If I could give them 0 stars I would.

Amazing staff, very knowledable and friendly! Great store that is very well cleaned and organized, even the sheet music, which is hard to find! Highly recommend this store, they fixed our daughters flute in less than 5 minutes!

Not to busy and it was really cool because there were SO many instruments and books! They helped me get my new bow a while back because of its shape. The person there went through it with me and showed me how I should really be putting my bow in because I was a beginner. Also showed me how to get my rosin. It was wonderful and Im planning to go back soon for more music. Definitely have faith they have everything needed there for those looking. Ive been playing for 5 years and theyve always had what Ive needed.

Chris M. Is amazing he is very genuine and highly knowledgeable. He’s very patient and hospitable. There was another guy there with glasses 12/26 around 5:00pm ish and his customer service was absolutely HORRIBLE! He seemed very stuck up and snooty, not willing to help.

Went in to turn in a resume to see about a job working there, the in store old female manager was absolutely horrid, rude to myself and her own employees, snappy, arrogant, and all around unbearable. The poor employees looked like they were sorry I had to interact with her at all, after that experience Im not even going to apply online, seeing as Id have to work under her.

Two stars because Im sure the rest of the store is just fine but........I came into family music a while back to have some work done on my violins. The guy behind the desk went and got the lutihier who was nice enough (though his prices were very very inflated) up until he found out my violins are left handed (built left handed from scratch not conversions). He told me There is no such thing as a left handed violin (this seems to be a orchestra snob false view) and that All lefty violins are right handed with the strings swapped, the bass bar and sound post would never be in the correct position. I tried to offer to bring them in so that he could see that mine are built correctly for himself and he immediately got a temper, said he refused to work on them. One of their other luthiers was willing to take in the work when I came in another time, but shyd away from it when I told him what happened previously stating I dont know which of us would end up doing the work and Im sure you dont want him dealing with them..I now take my violins to Juan Soto across town. His prices and time-lines are better and he actually enjoyed working with something out of the norm.

The store teacher cut minutes and most time come in too late. I never comeback again For fulte teacher

Took them a week to even touch the instrument then they screwed it up and i had to wait another day to get it would not recommend geting your instrument fixed here.
