Michael recently helped me with an appraisal I needed on my engagement ring (for insurance purposes) and he was fantastic - extremely professional, and knowledgeable, and he completed my appraisal quickly and for a reasonable price. I stayed with him while he evaluated my ring, and he taught me all kinds of things about diamonds and how they are graded, and walked me through every step of the process. It was a great experience, and I learned a lot! I would definitely recommend Michael for anyone looking for appraisal services.

Had an amazing visit today with Mr. Hutton. Not only does he have extensive knowledge in Diamonds, he knows ALL gems, so dont let the name fool you . Not only did he tell us exactly what we had, he SHOWED us what we had by using professional methods that reveal all your answers right in front of your eyes . He teaches you exactly how he discovers the answers by using a series of tests on the gem to determine the type and carat of the stone. Amazing customer service. Will visit again.

One word can describe my experience with The Diamond Grader, Michael Louis Hutton, PG, GD and thats Stunning! I took a few Sapphires that I purchased to be IDd or as Mr. Hutton put it separatting it from what its not. I was hopeful and currently very excited to say, I have authentic stones with an amazing value! But thats not even half of the experience. I watched Mr. Hutton perform each test and method of examination as he explained each, in detail, and the science behind it. His explanations were clear, concise, yet very easy to understand. The education I gained from his evaluation of my stones is worth more than knowing the potential market value. It was worth my piece of mind! I felt so good as I left his laboratory having gained so much more real knowledge about my Sapphires which has made me look forward to the journey Ill be enjoying ahead of me. As with any service one looks for, there are the basics everyone expects no bs, professionalism, etc. Mr. Hutton not only fulfills that aspect but so much more. A few weeks ago I took my custom created 14K white gold triple rolling band wedding ring to a name brand jeweler for a cleaning and a new rhodium coating. Because two of my three bands have diamonds, the jeweler needed to test them to be sure that what they were taking in for work was what I claimed. This is a very reasonable course of action and I had no problem with it. When the jeweler said my diamonds were Moissanite it set off a chain reaction of problems.The first thing I did was agree to a full appraisal of my piece so I would have something in hand when I called my original jeweler, and sadly that caused even more problems. The appraisal verified that my stones were diamonds but then appraised my 14K white gold as less than 8K, and rated my diamond clarity at I-3, the lowest quality available and called my ring condition fair..After getting a second opinion and learning that my ring was in fact 14K gold, I found Michale Hutton. I needed a third opinion to break the tie, so to speak. Mr. Hutton did fabulous work for me! He verified that my gold was 14K, my diamonds are the SI-2 to I-1 diamonds I purchased, and agreed my ring was in very good condition. His keen eye and meticulous work was a lifesaver, and his patience and explanation of the work he was doing gave me a welcome sense of trust and calm. I have two other stones I intend to take back to Mr. Hutton for review before I take them to a jeweler for setting to be sure I have what I think I have. All future appraisals in my household will go directly through Mr. Hutton. No more big chain stores.

I went to approximately 40 different stores in search of a ring. Once I found the perfect ring, I took it directly to The Diamond Grader. Michael is the most knowledgeable and professional jewelry expert I had the pleasure of working with. If I could give this business 10 stars I would! My fiancé bought me an engagement ring from a local jeweler and after hearing some bad things about the company, I decided to take my ring in to Michael and have it evaluated. Michael took the time to listen to my whole situation on the phone and even gave me some great unbiased advice as to what he would do in my situation. This was all before I even made an appointment! Anyway, he squeezed me in for a 7pm appointment the same day, very accommodating. When I showed up, Michael got straight to work evaluating my diamond and, my goodness, I was instantly blown away by his knowledge. His evaluation was SO in depth and extremely informative. He showed me all sorts of books and diagrams and let me watch over his shoulder. I feel like an expert on diamonds now. Michael also cleaned my ring for free. I would highly recommend Michael to anyone I know. If only I would have found him sooner!

Folks, I cant say enough positive things about Michael, the Diamond grader. If you are looking to purchase a diamond then do yourself a favor and let him save you a ton of money. He helped me purchase a diamond which I just had appraised for double the price that I paid. I am still in shock. Michael is the best.

I would give more stars if they were available...Michael is absolutely the best, to say his is thorough is an understatement, not only will you get your diamonds, gemstones, or jewlery accurately graded based on the best of standards, but you will also get an education... I was there hours learning from him and found it so very interesting how all the machines worked and how he uses such strict standards to grade each and every piece with precision...I would recommend him any day of the week and feel 101% confident you are getting the best judgement that can be found in the jewlery industry... He is truly an expert and very passionate and loves what he does... I could go on and on but ill leave it there, AAA+++ like a D flawless diamond....

This company isnt knowledgable enough to grade clarity enhanced diamonds. If you have one and youre looking to get it graded I would stay clear away. Very disappointed with the lack of knowledge given to our potential customer.

After deciding I wanted to buy a diamond ring for my fiancé, I did some research and learned enough to know I needed a true expert in the field. I knew that jewelry stores were too expensive and are in the business to mark up the prices way too much. Eventually, I found a seller of a diamond. It sounded like a good deal but again, I did not know enough. By pure luck, I found the diamond grader who prevented me from making a huge mistake. He in addition had a vast wealth of knowledge and years of expertise which he used to educate both myself and the sellers of the diamond. He takes you step by step and makes understanding of diamond grading seem very easy In addition, he helped me find a much better diamond with a beautiful setting for a much better price. I cannot tell you how grateful and happy both myself and my fiancee are with the GIA certified diamond ring, it was perfect!

Took several loose stones for Michael to appraise and not only did he appraise them he gave us an education about the appraisal process and the stones. I have never had such a good experience as I did with Michael .I will never use another appraiser.
