I used Mesilla Valley Estates after the passing of my dad last winter. James came over upon my request to have a look at his home and let me know what the process would be. He was very thorough and thoughtful about every detail. James and his companys professionalism and along with a well executed process actually helped lessen the stress. James and his staff are awesome! We were downsizing so we left the house with only our personal items, some kitchen items, a few pieces of artwork and a piano. We were happy to know most everything sold within the first day and after the sale all that was remaining was a small load of miscellaneous things that they delivered to charity. UPDATE: following my previous review James called and apologized for the issues and appears to have gone out of his way to make things right. I will update the review following the sale. To be fair, part of the issues were caused by circumstances beyond his control.Should be 0 stars. Contacted James and met a week later. Got a great sales pitch. I was told a contract would be ready within a week and the sale would take place in about 2 months. Over a week goes by, no word so I call. James said he was driving and would call back. Nothing. Call back the next day and James said he would get right back. Over a week later, nothing. I call and leave a message. Nothing. Call back a few days later and get voice mail again. I advise them that should I not hear back within a day or 2 I will consider them no longer interested in my business. 5 days later now and no response. Meanwhile Im waiting to sell the house until the sale is done and paying mortgage on a house with nobody living in it. By doing nothing they have wasted my money

Mesilla Valley Estate Sales could not have done a better job. The exceeded our expectations in every way. They handled everything. Did an Amazing Job with the photographs and promotion of our Estate Sale. The morning of the sale people were lined up over an hour ahead of the start of the sale! Afterwards they cleaned everything up, patched walls, touched up paint. If you need to sell everything dont hesitate to talk to them. They are excellent. Thank you James and your staff.

James Kanel of Mesilla Valley Estate Sales and his merry band of helpers are magicians!!! They conducted a sale for me after I sold my house and left town. James is an appraiser, so the items, including lots of artwork, were priced appropriately as original art and not as posters or giclees. In addition to producing a successful sale, James and his staff cleaned the entire house, even touching up nail holes, etc. in the walls and they even fully painted a wall that had been partially painted around a large piece of furniture. He also arranged to have the carpets shampooed before locking up. I couldnt be more pleased with not only James professionalism and the financial result of the sale, but hes a great guy.If you are considering an estate sale, do not hesitate to contact him.....and do so as quickly as possible. Overwhelmed? Maybe. Good Business practices? Who knows. A team that works good together? Perhaps. But Responsible, Kind, Responsive. Absolutely Not! James Kanel, owner of the business: post your things and I’ll call you tonight. I received no call. The next morning. I glanced at them so let me look at them closer and I’ll call you back. He did not call me right back. Bad sign, huh? Well I called him again. He said no I can’t use anything this year. Maybe February next year, sorry for the bad news. Well tell me up front. But in this case, if you don’t hear anything back then give it up! Geez.

Very professional, knowledgeable, helpful. Items put up for sale are clean and well presented and reasonably priced. They handle the large crowds very well making checkout smooth and relatively quick.I recommend this company.

MVES defines service. Really impressed with their willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done. Spoke to perhaps a dozen of their employees and every last one of them were courteous and helpful. Just a top-notch outfit in every way.

I look forward to the MVES sales because of the quality of their sales. The team lead by James is very professional, courteous and very knowledgeable about the products in their sales. I love the way the products in the houses are staged, it gives you a chance to envision the way it will look in your home. I have been to the others in town, preferring to attend MVES for the people and prices. I tell all my friends they are the best in town!
