Anthony is a fantastic instructor. He’s an absolute expert kiteboarder, but is also patient, understanding, and able to immediately change the lesson “plan” as needed to make sure you keep progressing. I’ve had 2 2-hour lessons and am going for a 3rd. He got me riding quickly, and he’s a blast to work with. If you want to kite, come give him a try. The jet ski makes sure he’s always close by and you can safely learn in shallow water no matter which way the wind is blowing. Having a blast!

Anthony is very friendly and knowledgeable. Over the course of one session he was able to help me do something I was unable to do on my own - jump! The fact that he has a See Doo is really helpful too as he can give you advice while you ride and rescue you if you get in trouble.. Anthony is the best in the business, whether you have no experience or just want to learn how to fly he can help. In one lesson I accomplished confidence in my transitions, jumping Basics and looping the kite during a transition. All in 1 hour. He just knows the right stuff to say to make the lesson easy-to-follow. This guy knows every spot in Tampa Bay and has a great website that talks about them. Ive purchased amazing gear new and used from him at a fraction of the price I can find it anywhere else. Just a genuine good dude with integrity.

Anthony is the best kite instructor in town! The lesson was the cheapest in town, other places want your money first. My husband and I had this on our bucket list as we love water sports and wanted to try something different. Anthony is very patient, easy going, and knowledgeable. You are definitely safe so no worries at all! We cannot wait to go back, continue to learn and practice (our goal is to get on the board and put it all together). As an older beginner with about 6 hours of prior lessons with other shops, I came across Anthony via other St Pete kiteboarders. Their strong recommendation of Anthony was not exaggerated. I spent 3 hours with him with a primary goal of getting up on the board going both directions. My goal was met after our time on the water. I took some lessons in Mexico and barely got up due to waves and my clumsiness but in one hour with Anthony I got my water starts down, started going up wind, and began working on transitions, which I plan to continue during next session. Ive watched plenty of YouTube tutorials but he will give you pointers that only make sense once you are on the water. It helps that he is super personable, patient and knowledgeable. You want to learn fast for a great rate he is your dude, hands down.

There are (probably more but to me) 2 main facets to learning kiteboarding, the environment and the instructor.Instructor first, Anthony is an amazing instructor he has a demeanor about him that is patient but yet is still going to push you to your potential. He knows how to explain the kite and its behavior in a way that is easy to understand and easy to put into practice.The environment where Anthony teaches is perfect. The depth is about 3 feet, he uses a Jet ski to stay close and move to an upwind position for launching, and boundaries are clearly marked.I had previously taken lessons 1 day at a location where the water was deep to where you could not touch the ground, they used radios for communication, and the instructor stayed on shore. This worked to some extent, however taking lessons from Anthony, with is demeanor and a great environment made for 10 times the learning speed. I was able to learn and be up and riding with my 2 hour session. Next up Transitions!!!I would recommend lessons with Anthony to anyone wanting to learn kiteboarding in the Tampa area or visiting for vacation.

Top notch instruction here. The lessons covered the basics early on and advanced at the perfect pace for me. It steadily built on concepts as I became more comfortable. If you want to learn kiteboarding I cant recommend Kiteboarding St Petersburg enough.

I have only very good things to say about Anthony and Kiteboarding St Petersburg. I am an intermediate kiter who wanted to learn how to use a foil board. In two lessons Anthony has got me foiling on the short mast and totally stoked to do more kiting and more foiling. I look forward to more lessons and to using the full foil mast. My friend and I took our first kiteboarding lesson with Anthony and could not have asked for a better experience. Anthony prepared us by sending videos and even spending time explaining the basics beforehand at the shop. This was invaluable because its definitely a technical sport and helps to be able to visualize a bit before you get out there. Once at the beach, Anthony set us up in ideal conditions and walked us through key maneuvers. The first time you are hooked to the kite and feel its power, its easy to get discouraged and think youll never have the finesse to control it. But Anthony helped us understand what we needed to focus on and how not to overreact to the kite, and by the end of the lesson, we were both feeling pretty confident. Well definitely be booking another session to begin practice on the board and we hope to be pros in no time! :) Overall, excellent experience with Kiteboarding St Pete - easy communication, scheduling, good equipment and great instructor!

If you are new to kiteboarding and don’t use Anthony as your coach, then you are making a mistake. Anthony is very detailed discussing safety, the equipment and the technique needed to fly the kite. Anthony was very patient and discussed lots of important theory regarding the wind, kite and staying safe. After 3 hours I was able to stear the kite, reset and water launch, body drag under control and was starting to try riding a board. I will definitely use Anthony for my next set of lessons.

I was in St. Pete for a family trip; saw the forecast and called to schedule a foiling lesson. Anthony was responsive, professional and had great gear. Kept me updated on the local conditions through the week.He was able to get me up and foiling that day and had a jet ski to follow me for pointers with form and technique.It was a light wind day and I saw him rescue two kiters with kites down. In addition to being a great instructor he is clearly a strong member of the kiting community.This was a VIP experience.

Awesome lesson! Just moved to St. Petersburg from California and wanted to continue learning how to kite. I took a few lessons in California prior to taking lessons with Anthony and I must say, that the 1 hour lesson with Anthony I learned more than with 6 hours in California. If you want to get up and riding I would definitely recommend Anthony Franchi. Learning to kite in flat shallow waters of St. Petersburg is way better than learning to kite in the deep waves of California.

Amazing and incredible experience!This is my second season kiting and Ive learned more with Anthony than in any of my previous lessons. I had a fabulous first kiteboarding experience with Anthony -- I learned a lot and had a great time too! Anthony is a knowledgeable and patient instructor, easy to communicate with and reliable too.

Anthony was very knowledgeable and a great instructor! I went to Watersports West and met with him where I got to hook into a bar and harness and go over kite control/safety. This was nice because Ive never seen any of the equipment before and it helped break down steps of kiteboarding before I even had my lesson. My first lesson was on the East Skyway Beach which was a great area that was shallow enough to stand which made it a lot easier to learn. Anthony had his jet ski out in the water too during the lesson so he was able to give instant feedback on what I was doing wrong and how to correct it. He was able to get me flying the kite and on the board in no time. All of the provided gear was top of the line and suited well for the current wind conditions. I would definitely recommend anyone who is looking to get into kiteboarding to have lessons with Kiteboarding St. Petersburg! Stoked to have my next lesson already!

Kiteboarding is not skydiving.I figured kite boarding could not be that hard and not too different from skydiving. I have mad canopy control skill. I come across a screaming good deal on a slightly used kite set up...complete with everything I would need. With my big ego ..hey I can do this. No problem. So off to the beach across the street I went.My first attempt was met eating sand and getting dragged across the beach. Kinda like road rash falling off your motorcycle. Nothing like saltwater on freshly abraised skin. I went home to heal my woundsAttempt #2 ....lesson learned let go of the kite. This time I thought let me practice a bit just flying the kite.... a strong gust of wind then lifted my skinny azz 7 feet in the air and I landed on my azz. With my bruised azz and ego I packed up and headed back across the street home.Attempt#3 I decided to go on YouTube since I have found you can learn pretty much amything on You Tube from fixing a screen door to repairing your dishwasher. Indeed I did get some tips and armed with more knowledge across the street I went yet again. Confident the 3rd X would be a charm. I did manage to launch somehow but then my board took a dive...and then I took a dive to the entertainment and laughter of some beachgoers. Determined not to be defeated....Attempt #4 I took out a few beach umbrellas and pissed some people off.Attempt #5..... i totally embarressed myself once again....eating more sand.Attempt #6 This cant be that friggin difficult, I seen kids doing it. Regaining my composure I was off again. This time the kite just starting going crazy and whacked the beach goers who were laughing at me...served them right. After being cussed out....attempt #7....Attempt#7 ... Yeah! But my ride lasted mere seconds before the kite smacked down in the water...and despite being inflated it still managed to sink and required quite a bit of effort to drag it out of the gulf. More laughs and insults from the beachgoers. I packed my stuff and left...Screw it. I put the kiteboarding gear in the closet and let it sit in the dark for a month....punishing it.Attempt #8 Never give up, if at first you dont succeed try again. I pumped up the kite and pumped up myself. Here we go again! Dont ask me what happened because it all happened so fast...all I can tell you is I was kite snorkeling best I can explain it. My board served as a brake and I busted the strap.I took the board to Watersports West for repair ....this is where I met Anthony. I explained I wasnt having much luck at this despite my canopy control skills learned skydiving. He replied, Kiteboarding is not skydiving! Defeated by my own efforts I agreed to meet him the next day for lesson 1. Introduction to kiteboarding.Lesson #1 Do not attempt this on your own, take a few lessons. In an hours time Anthony had me moving awkwardly along... if I had to do it all over again I would save myself the embarrasment and bruises to my skin and ego.Lesson 2. More tips and pointers, yeah this is fun! Good exercise using arms,legs and torso. Nice young man explains things well, and has got me going. I am 50 lessons away from doing an aerial flip board switch underdog trick....but at least I am not hurting or embarrassing myself. Looking forward to lesson #3. Thanks again!

Hands down the best place to learn kiteboarding.My initial instruction was in SoCal. It was a good course. I learned the basics of kiteboarding, but just enough to get me interested.The 2nd place I learned was in Coco Beach where I was finally able to get up on the board. The instructor was not much help in giving feedback for me to progress.My final instructions were with Anthony. This guy rocks. In just a few lessons he was able to teach me how to stay up on the board, hold my ground upwind, and even start to do transitions. He provided the most information, hands on experience of all. He is very communicative and reliable as well. I will for sure use him again to develop my skills further. I would recommend him highly.

Some of the best kiteboarding waters were well complimented by some of the best kiteboarding instruction I have received. I made the trip with one goal in mind...to be able to ride upwind! With a few key tips, Anthony Franchi helped me to accomplish this in just two sessions. I must say that the sport was immediately more fun when I kited 1/4 mile out and was able to return to his position on the beach...and I think he was as excited as I was! Anthony truly has a passion for the sport and gets great satisfaction from sharing that passion with others that are interested in learning. I highly recommend Anthony to anyone looking to take up the sport, OR looking to advance to the next level. His approach, techniques, and general knowledge of kiteboarding are unsurpassed.
