Nice little Indian grocery store to fulfill your everyday requirements. Moving out from NJ had only one con which is this, not being able to find huge Indian grocery stores at every nook & corner.I like this store, they dont have too many varieties available, its manageable though since this is the only store around here. The lady (probably the owner) at the checkout was very nice and friendly.
Went to the store today (11/29) and was surprised to see a sign on the door Due to Thanksgiving we are closed until tomorrow not mentioning the date they posted. This new owner does not have a clue of Indian needs. Nor the people who work at the register. Sincerely hope that this improves as we are so dependent on this store.
Mahal Bazaar is under new ownership. These nice new folks are taking the reins from the previous owners and are very carefully keeping things perfectly stocked. They have plans to expand the store into a fresh meat section as well. Thats pretty ambitious, and they seem to have a little broader vision Im just exactly what the corner Indian store is all about than the previous owners who did a VERY good job, by the way.The store has an excellent variety of many Indian and Southeast Asian Foods. Prices are very very reasonable and if you have questions about cooking and what to add to this dish or that, they are there and will be more than helpful to you.
Have to edit... What was once a nice option if you didnt want to trek to Patel, now under new ownership, taking on a new direction to include Middle Eastern groceries. Still has Indian groceries but lets see where the new ownership takes it ..Perfectly curated Indian grocery with all the staples. While this may not have a ton of variety, you can tell they picked the best of what you need.
This is a great place when looking for variety and good prices, especially on bulk. A lot of creative options for vegetarian and traditional dishes. Large spice choice and and more exotic things like the Laxmi garlic-ginger paste I just got. Just go there. Yum.
I stumbled on this specialty grocery store through my job. They have everything Indian, great prices, and a wonderful staff. The owner is always there and willing to share his knowledge and passion for Ayurveda with everyone interested in holistic and herbal remedies.
Management keeps on changing, the new management dont know the needs of customers and not keeping a good collection. The items in stock are stocked too much. Missing so many needed items. Managed by some kids playing on mobile all the time. Time to move on.
This used to be a decent grocery store till couple of years ago. Then the owners have changed 3 times in a short time. It is a mess now. No groceries here for vegetarian Indians. I would not even give it a 1 star now. Very disappointing.
I have been going to this supermarket for a year now. Love their selection. Always fresh produce on Fridays and affordable.Love the fresh Curry leaves!
Pretty good selection (though still missing a few things). Not a huge place, but the owners are absolutely awesome and love to help you out. If your around this area its definitely worth a visit
This is a great little Indian grocery store. They have lots of spices, a variety of fresh Indian veggies, Indian snacks, desserts and a frozen section. They also have fresh herbs like cilantro, mint, and curry leaves. The prices are great too.
Great store. I was short of cash by .12, and the owner let me slide. so nice to see a small business man being kind to his customers!!!
Location wise, it works out since the stores in Tampa are too far away for folks in the St Pete-Clearwater area. However, since the change in the ownership, I have noticed a downward trend in the availability of choices. Hope this improves soon.
Great selection and service! If you like Indian food they can fulfill all your needs except for cooking at youll have to do that. But thats the fun part!
I visited this store on the third day of August in 2018, compelled by my curiosity of finding out what Indian food tastes and smells like. And from the moment I walked inside, even away from the heat and humidity from outside, and as I was looking around, I practically fell in love with the store! 😁😍The air, oh my gosh, it had an amazing smell of spice, or perhaps sauce. My interactions with the three people, manager and two employees who ran the store was very special.I got to use my Hindi language a few times (even though Im still learning it), and everything I saw on the shelves and freezers, mmm, they looked very interesting and appetizing!Overall, the best first visit I had, and I cant thank the lady who runs the store for lecturing me about every bit of food there was, and on things I never heard of, and read about them.I hope I can go back again someday, because it makes me feel like Im in India, as I hope to travel there someday!😊😁😁😊 😉
Ok for quick basic Indian grocery visit ..not many items available
Pretty good store. Not everything Indian will be be available but the basic necessities are definitely available.
There is a good selection of spices and legumes and the personnel are quite helpful. They answered my questions about Indian cuisine/cooking and saved me from some potential culinary disasters. They are also the only place in South Pinellas where I have found curry leaves.
Mahal Bazaar is the only place I shop for healing herbs, tonics, and spices EVERGREEN Is one of my favorite products. I`m always welcomed with a smile and warm greetings when i arrive. You have my continued support.
Since the original owners left the place now is filled with meat in the freezers instead of the inexpensive, chemical free, tasty vegetarian frozen dinners. Very sad.
This store carries both small and very large sizes of dried beans, oats, lentils, bulgur wheat, rice etc. (up to 10 to 15lb bags if you want!) for very cheap prices. They also carry fresh herbs - a whole bunch of nice looking cilantro for 50 cents! Their fresh Turmeric root is HALF the price of Whole Foods and looks a lot better. They have every possible assortment of Indian spice blend you might want, and the cashier was quite helpful when I needed to find cardamom tea - he showed me the less expensive box. Nice staff and nice prices. Havent checked to see if they have Indian cheese for frying yet, but overall, this place is worth the trip. (located in a somewhat nondescript shopping center off E Bay Drive in Largo, FL)
Under new ownership. They are very friendly and eager to help. I am a total Indian foods fan so I always go purchase my exotic spices from them.
Limited options, very pricy since they are the only Indian place in the nearby area. Not very clean or organized. Felt cramped. Their cash register was out of order I guess and the cashier/owner (Im assuming) was hand writing all of our grocery prices and didnt do the math correctly. He wrote down higher prices for items than what was posted on their shelves and argued with us saying that his higher price was the right one and gave no real explanation as to why this mistake occurred. He did mark down the price for one of the items which I will give him credit for.Overall it was just okay.
Very small Indian grocery store . Not many options but this is the only store in the area to get Indian grocery.New management is doing great.got samosas on Thursday or Friday they are really good
The owner of the store is so rude.. I am a student yet I spent on the store almost $50.. so when I came in carrying a book bag and he gave me the look of brook person and not acting like business owner .. you know what I mean... and I guess my green hair made a bad impression . after the payment went though and I didnt see how much I spend because the screen the shows the total is not there and he didntbather to say how much I spent .. so I tried to grab the receipt and he gave me that look again so I apologize when I shouldnt since I am a customer yet have said with an aggressive tone is something wrong with me !! First he should welcome any customer specifically new one even if the customer have a different style, second to say some things is wrong with me is not ok and beside that is how he said that more of what he says .... I promise you sire you will not get any new customers from me
Good selection, good prices. Friendly, helpful staff. Will be going back again!
Mahal bazaar is a very convenience store in Clearwater great service the owners are very nice
They had most of everything I was looking for. I was very happy being there.
Best place to buy Indian grocery in Clearwater area.
Good store to visit. The owner is a great person.
Good spread of Indian grocery items. Perhaps the only store in the neighborhood. Run by a friendly couple.
As a non-Indian who loves Indian food, this store has nice selection, reasonably priced, and the owners were very helpful too.
Great store for spices and Indian foods. The people who run it are very nice also
Very limited choices in Indian grocery. Ok for quick shopping visit. Good for Non indians looking for stuff to add to Indian food recipies
Best store for Indian food products. Wide variety, friendly, knowledgeable owners.
Never ever go this store. Very limited items & expensive. Waste of fuel and money. In one occasion, store was closed at 7:45pm while on the door they mention closing time as 8:00pm. Staff/owner was locking the doorbat 7:45. I m done & will never ever visit again
Very receptive and knowledgeable store front manager!
Well, I have been going to Mahal Bazar for many years. It has been well organized and continues to carry a vast variety of foods, fresh and frozen. The yogurt here is the best. I dont buy yogurt any where else. The service is personal and excellent. There is no other store in Pinellas and Pasco counties that comes closer to Mahal Bazar.
Nice place. Can find all groceries you need
The man behind the counter was very friendly, spoke great English, and the store had exactly what I was looking for.
Great selection, and help and prices. Go look around, learn & buy healthy!

Kids running the store playing video game. Disorganized
Nice selection of items.
Fresh samosas on Friday for $1.00 each
Has a sample selection of Indian food and other countries. Lacks atmosphere .
Its relatively pricey, not much of a difference in the prices though from other stores in the area. I prefer to go for quick shopping visits.
Lots of tings that you need and good prices...
The grocery is expensive and the owner has an attitude problem (he says the groceries are cheaper than what we get on Fowler and are better quality as well) and brags about how his is the only shop that survived for so many years. Not worth it.!
Good place for spices and indian foods
The most delicious food at the lowest prices

Not organized or clean, unfriendly attendance listening to a very loud music does not care much about his business or your business there, will never go back..
