I brought my car to Meenan Transmission for a simple transmission swap and for a reasonable price they had me back on the road in just a few days.My car now drives like new. When I got home I took a look at the work and they went above and beyond because they carefully routed and tucked away all my wires from the hot exhaust and I also got new hardware/bolts.If your Transmission is on its way out or has failed this is the shop to take your car to.

My regular mechanic was convinced my transmission was shot. I did some research and heard great things about Meenan. So I had my car towed for a 2nd opinion. They were able to correctly diagnose my 2014 Ford Fusion. I only needed a Speed sensor and pigtail.Randy and Steve saved me thousands of dollars. I am very grateful!

A friend recommended Meenans after having his transmission repaired there several years ago. I had Meenan evaluate my 2004 Honda Odyssey as reverse was not working properly. Steve was fantastic in evaluating, explaining and videotaping the issue with the transmission. After the repair, I stopped by as there was a check engine light. Steve used an engine analyzer, provided me the list of codes and cleared the codes before leaving. An O2 code was recorded and confirmed why the engine idle speed was fluctuating. He suggested the ground wire be cleaned as it appeared dirty and could be providing a bad signal. Since cleaning the ground connection termination, the engine idle is working flawlessly. I stopped by for my two week check while Steve was on vacation. Randy was great! Meenan provides great customer service!

I highly recommend Meenan Transmission: My car was having some serious gear issues when I pulled in I didnt have an appt. Steve Meenan used a diagnostic tool to tell me the issue was with the first gear. On my way to work, he offered to give me a ride so I wasnt stuck, we communicated a few days later then several more times. Even though Steve did not provide any service he certainly went out of his way to make sure that I was alright. Steve certainly has great business ethics, keep up the good work.

By far the BEST auto shop I have ever received auto service from. Beautiful location, clean shop, and tons of parking outside. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. I was asked some basic questions about my vehicle and how my morning was going. Within moments one of the mechanics came out to take my vehicle in. The mechanic and the owner are very polite and knowledgeable. While my vehicle was being checked out, I sit in the waiting area where I enjoyed having a great conversation while waiting. “Bounce to this shop” you can see you vehicle while it’s being checked out. The entire time I was given updates on my vehicle and any questions or concerns I may have had. Answered immediately! I was told what the issue was and also showed. I even was taken on a test drive. I was treated like royalty. Just fantastic guys. This didn’t feel at all like your typical auto shop. Price and service unmanageable. What was incredible was the man that did most of my service was the owner, Mr.Meehan himself. Great guy! I have found my vehicle forever home. Steve has worked on several of my cars throughout the years. These guys have fixed problems that other mechanics couldnt and I have never felt over charged. When you pick up your car they take pictures and explain the repair that was done. It has been a pleasure dealing with the entire staff, I cant imagine ever going somewhere else.

Had my clutch go out last Tues, had it towed here by lunchtime Tues, no call on estimated price or duration, had to call them 4x, now in my 6th day (Mon now) in rental still no call after he said it’ll be done Fri or Mon. I called again and he now says part that was shipped to him was broken and won’t be done for several more days with no estimate on when. Absolutely unprofessional and would NEVER recommend this place.

These guys really know their stuff. Ive had plenty of Firestone experiences where techs try and tell you whats wrong. Meenan knows transmissions and engines inside and out. I was impressed with how much information they were able to offer on the diagnosis of our Honda Odyssey after a test drive. I learned a lot.

My father recently had his Sonata repaired here and Steve was very helpful in explaining what the issue was and they fixed it within 2 days. Initially Pepboys recommended something entirely different until we took the car to this place which btw - never trust those shops (like Pepboys, Meineke, etc). Literally after 2 weeks, my wifes BMW has a small leakage in the rear differential so I took the car and spoke to Steve about it. Granted they were really swamped, he agreed to take a look at it. Although the issue was trivial, Steve and his guys looked at it and sent me pictures explaining the problem and that there is nothing to worry about. These guys are very honest in the way they do business. Steve is extremely knowledgeable and is an impeccable guy. I recommend going here for any transmission related problems or even simple oil change. Id rather pay $50 extra and support small business like this than pay Pepboys or similar chain who rip people off like crazy!

These guys did a rebuild for my 99 F250 with a 4R100. Got a modified accumulator body and couldnt be happier! Trans feels better than ever. Highly recommended for all of your transmission needs!

I had to pull off the road because my car started shaking. Thank goodness it was here. I was hoping to borrow a tool and what I got was Steve who came out to help me and even drove my car to see what it might be. Now I have Meenan as a go to shop. Steve was saying it doesnt have to be about your transmission. It just so happens they are really good at that. Thanks for helping with my car and not letting me drive home without it being safe.

I had been having issues with my care for several weeks. I took it to a mechanic who fixed a transmission fluid leak, but when I drove it off their lot I noticed a noise coming from the front of the car. Meenan Transmission was recommended to me, and they quickly found that there were bolts missing from the heat shield. My car was available to pick up the following day and it was a very pleasant experience - I will absolutely be calling Meenan Transmission for future issues.

I don’t usually write online reviews for businesses I use but I have to make an exception for Meenan Transmission. These guys are honest, professional, technical experts who stand behind their work to make sure transmissions are fixed right. I took a 1997 Honda Civic in for repair after the transmission had been slipping. Steve (the owner) and Randy (the general manager) examined the car and presented three options for repair with three separate price points. Meenan Transmission fixed the transmission and gave the car back to me promptly. After a couple weeks of driving I noticed what seemed to be a new but extremely subtle shifting issue, so Randy told me to bring the car back in to be on the safe side. Sure enough, there was a problem with a solenoid. Ultimately the right fix for the car meant not only replacing the solenoid but dropping the transmission all over again – and Meenan did it at their cost! Removing the transmission to get the work done right is not a cheap fix, and disreputable shops could have easily told me to ignore the issue since it was almost undetectable. The car is now running great and perfect for keeping in the city. Kudos to Steve Meenan for the way he runs his shop. If you have transmission problems, do yourself a favor and visit Meenan Transmission first. They’ll work with you to make sure your transmission is running like new.

I own a 99 Ford Ranger with 175,000 miles. Last week, while backing up I heard something snap. It turns out the rear band in my transmission had snapped. Being new to the Lansdale area, a local mechanic referred me to Meenan to take a look at my transmission. From the get go, Steve and the guys at the shop were on point in terms of customer service, explaining to me all of my options and describing the problems in laymans terms. Steve even took a video of the transmission after taking it apart, explaining everything that was wrong with it and what exactly needed to be fixed. Most importantly, Meenan worked with me from a financial standpoint and were very flexible. I explained to them that I was only looking to get another year or 2 out of the vehicle and did not see the value in replacing the entire transmission. At the same time, my wife and I are not ready to take on another car payment so getting my truck fixed was imperative. Repairing transmissions with that much mileage is not common but they went above and beyond to get the transmission on my Ranger fixed and running again. I know there was a lot of labor put on my truck over the course of a week and I am grateful that I found a place with such knowledgeable employees and fantastic customer service. I plan on taking all of my future auto needs, transmission or not, to Meenan. Thank you again Steve!

It is very tough to find mechanics that do great work and are honest at the same time. Steve and crew are the best in all aspects from customer service to doing the work right the first time.. They are very thorough, explain the problem in detail and are a pleasure to deal with. I would trust them with any one of my vehicles not only for transmissions but for anything that ails your cars. I am honestly impressed.

Took a small work truck there after several mechanics recommended them. They provided a video of the transmission problems and while unfortunately it needed a transmission rebuild, they were very informative and professional. I found them to be honest, accurate, and willing to go above and beyond. Sucks if your transmission goes down, but these guys are the best choice to help you get it fixed.

I was told by the gentlemen who did my car’s oil change that the transmission had a small leak. I brought it to Steve and his guys had it up and on a lift in minutes. After a quick evaluation they confirmed there was no leak, just some grease build up. They also secured 2 loose covers with new pins and had me out of there under a half hour. Everyone was kind and Steve was very friendly as I sat and waited in the office. I will absolutely be a customer in the future. Thanks again gentlemen!

Excellent shop. The actual price matched the quote, and they only fix what needs to be fixed. They are very fair and don’t overcharge you or tell you your car needs something when it doesn’t. They did a great job fixing my car and were very reasonable with time.

I had a transmission replaced on a Ford 350 diesel van in May of 2016. The repair estimate was honest and accurate. They sent me a video of the disassembled trans with an explanation of the problem.Great timely service and one of the few auto places whose word and work have earned my trust.

After being told I would need a new transmission for my 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee for nearly $4,000 from some other transmission shops, I was referred by someone to go to Meenan. Steve and his team found the problem with ease and even had an idea what it was prior to looking at it. They completed the fix and even showed me a video of the problem and solution. It didn’t require replacing, nor did the trans have to be pulled. The entire fix cost about $1,000. That’s a 75% savings! Having a fleet of trucks that are constantly in use its inevitable things are going to happen. Steve and his team always take care of us and gets our trucks back up and running. We took my car to Meenan after another mechanic warned us that the transmission was starting to fail. Meenan said transmission was OK but it needed other work of $1000+. We opted to get the work done.When they called to tell us they were done, they also informed us that they broke the speed sensor in the process and we would have to pay $200 for the part they broke if it wouldnt pass their road test. Needless to say, we werent happy.Magically 30 minutes later, the sensor was fine and car was ready to go. 2 weeks later, all the dashboard warning lights related to anything to do with the brakes - ABS, AWD, Slip sensor and Traction Control - came on and the brakes werent working correctly. Very scary to have happen with 2 kids in the car.When my husband called to ask what Meenan was going to do to make things right, the owner tried to lie that he had no idea who we were or working on our car but slipped up several times recalling details about our car. He even hung up on my husband. When he called back again, the owner was rude and condescending to my husband telling him that he had no idea what he was talking about when it came to our car.We now have to pay and additional $1000+ for the dealership to fix what Meenan broke. Use with caution.EDITED 7-24-19 to reply to Owners reply: Owner took 8 months to fabricate the complete and total lie about reimbursing labor cost or reaching out to us. As they tried to deny their mistake and even hung up on us when we called to let them know what had happened, I dont know how anyone could believe that they tried to call us several times. They never once tried to reach out or to make things right.Further, the actual skilled mechanics who finally did fix the car determine that what Meenan did was unnecessary and actually caused more damage.Yes, it was a well used car but taking it to Meenan was a huge mistake.

Overall positive experience with Meenan Transmission throughout the process of my transmission rebuild on my Integra. Best transmission shop in Montgomery County. We go over an hour away to have the team at Meenan Transmission work on our cars. They dont just replace transmissions, but they are truly intelligent diagnosticians. They sent me a video of the broken components in my car. They take the time to explain everything and try hard to keep costs down, while improving the performance of the transmission. Steve and his crew are by far the best at what they do. They bring TRUST into a business where it is sorely needed.

Had my 5 speed manual transmission replaced by these guys a few months ago and they did a great job. Then recently, my check eng. light came on and I had the vehicle towed in, they pulled the codes and reassured me the trans was okay and they diagnosed my problem. In reply to the owner stating there is no record of my vehicle being in their data base- Back in May 2015 I had the transmission rebuilt on my 2005 Wrangler- service was great and I did give a 5 star rating at that time. I lowered the rating after my last experience in May 2018. I was having trouble with the transmission again- vehicle was dropped off at the shop on 5/11/18 and was told that it should be completed by 5/14/18. It was not and every day I called to find out when it would be finished. Finally the part was replaced and I picked up my Jeep on 5/18/18. It was back in the shop on 5/21/18 because the transmission fluid wasnt replaced after the work was done the previous week.Yes- it was definitely service at Meenan and I have receipts to back it up.

Took our vehicle here when it just died, A fried recommended them and they were great. A new transmission is not what was needed just a repair. The customer service was great and they were efficient in getting the job done at a good price!

Ive taken three different trucks(F150, F250, and F550) there for transmission issues. Needless to say, every time they do work, they do it right the first time and always talk me through exactly what went wrong while providing sound solutions to prevent further issues. They are the only place I will do business with and the only place I recommend.

I had to up date my post, I first used this wonderful shop two years ago for my Lincoln Ls, Ive now used them for my E Class Mercedes, they converted it from the air suspension to regular shock and springs, they are always very friendly and helpful and Im a handful to deal with, so I thank you Steve & Randy and staff at Meenan for another awesome job!!!!

I brought my car into Meenan Transmission transmission for what I was told was a transmission problem. Two other places told me my car will require transmission rebuilding or replacement. I had it at the dealer and at another transmission shop first and both had said it was a problem with the transmission. I was recommended to take it to Meenan Transmission by a friend of mine at work. I called them and they told me to bring it over. When I brought it over Steve hooked up their diagnostic computer and there were no fault codes present. Steve then took it for a road test and preferred that I ride along. It was not long into the road test when Steve told me the good news it was not a transmission problem. Steve said that the transmission is performing as it should but the computer was not commanding the upshift to take place because there was an engine running problem. He also told me to hold the computer and watch the gear shift data on the scan tool,and just as he said the command for the next higher gear was not happening unless the throttle was released. Since the other places had told me I needed a transmission I was relieved. What was even better that the catalytic converter obstruction causing the transmission not to shift properly was covered under federal emission warranty. They even gave me the name of the service writer at the local Ford dealer to talk to as they had informed them of the problem and even emailed them a video of the exhaust back pressure test they performed. It was a great decision to get another opinion especially when the only thing they charged me was $68.00 to perform the back pressure test!!!! Nice to know that there is a transmission shop that is truly out to help the customer and not just try to sell them something they dont need. I know where I will go if I ever have a transmission problem.

As a technician when my personal Jeep Cherokee needed a transmission the guys at Meenan were the place to take it to. I could have taken it anywhere, but in reality the other shops in the area were not an option for me. That transmission still works as good as the day I got it back from them.

Meenan couldnt have been more helpful. Steve took my car out for a bit and didnt see the issue at first. So he took it out for an extended drive the next day just so he could see it act up. Once he determined that the problem was my transmission he then checked with the dealership and found that I had an extension on my warranty. I took the car to the dealer and Meenan didnt ask for a penny. Steve is fantastic and I will definitely go there if I ever need any other transmission work!!!

I hate to give a bad review, but I cannot give this place a good review. The car was undrivable because of a broken shift fork. The clutch worked fine, but the car was stuck in gear. They diagnosed and fixed shift fork but somehow the clutch was then bad. They replaced the clutch and explained that they hard time getting the shift linkage correct and that you have to fidget with it to get it into reverse. I came to get my car and found my wheels scratched and dinged horrible around the lug where the tech hit the wheels with the impact wrench. I brought it to their attention and of course they denied they did the damage trying to say it was old and the paint was corroding off. Completely false. They touched up the wheels, however the damage is still visible. Picking up my car, and I couldn’t get into reverse. And when I did, I couldn’t get it out reverse without extreme force. I don’t know how they could think this was acceptable to turn over to a customer. I was able to get the car home and reset the shift linage myself! Again, I cannot recommend a transmission shop that doesn’t know how to reset the shift linkage, and damages other parts of the car. Speaking with other transmission experts, the consensus is that they damaged my clutch as well, but to be fair, I cannot prove that. I would not use them again

Fixed my auto trans when it broke down at 219k, and it has been running strong since then. It is at 240k still running smoothly.

Awesome service and coustomer care!!!Was referred to these guys from a chain auto care place over by the Montgomery Mall. Developed a loud humm from the rear during my travel up here from the Gulf Coast area. They quickly diagnosed it as a wheel bearing on the right side. They were up front with the repairs. Unfortunately during the removal, the knuckle cracked and had to be replaced. I could tell that Randy was honestly upset by this and raced to get a good used replacement the next day. And, now I am on my way.

Meenan Transmissions was highly recommended to me when my van started making a strange sound. I stopped in and described my problem. Right away Steve checked the fluid, ran some sort of diagnostic and then went driving with me to hear the noise for himself. We had to drive for quite a few miles before the noise started. Steve determined the problem was with the power steering, not the transmission. I was relieved to hear that, but felt badly that I had taken so much of his time. He proceeded to check my power steering fluid level and give me some advice about getting it repaired, and acted as if it were no trouble at all. I was very impressed with the folks at Meenan Transmissions and will definitely recommend them to anyone who needs their services.

They know how to fix transmissions. They dont know how to communicate with customers. But DAMN they can fix a tranny.

Its now been 5 years and 90k miles since the Meenan rebuild.Still shifts like new in cold and hot, towing and not.Review from 2018:Review after 2 years and 30k miles - 2007 SuburbanI thought that I could update my review of Meenan, Lansdale from two years ago, but I cant find it.During a frigid February in 2015 while at my sons hockey tournament my Suburbans transmission went out in a pretty dramatic way. There was no doubt that something major had happened. It was clear that I was going to have to leave my car at a transmission shop in the area and get a ride back to the DC suburbs. I had never had any experience with transmission shops and had only heard horror stories about some of the big chains. An unsettling feeling for sure. Im not from the area, so I had to rely on reviews. Also unsettling. I started with the good reviews and Meenan Transmission was one of them. I called and spoke to Randy who clearly knew what he was talking about - in fact he was very familiar with my Suburbans transmission.We went on the assumption that the transmission needed a complete overhaul or replacement, and Randy gave me two options: installing a rebuilt (Jasper) unit, or having my transmission rebuilt by Meenan, in-house. From what I recall, the cost was similar with both options, but the warranty was better going with a Meenan rebuild. Also, Randy explained that they would stand behind and guarantee the quality of the in-house rebuild, whereas I would have to rely on Jaspers reputation and warranty if that were my option. I had a good feeling about Meenan, so the next step was to commit to the shop as my car needed to be towed there.A day later, Randy called to discuss the prognosis and my options. The transmission was in need of major overhaul, as we had suspected, so the choice was between a Jasper or an in-house rebuild. My only reluctance was that Meenan is a few hours from my residence, so any warranty work would be difficult from a travel perspective. I chose the in-house Meenan rebuilt option anyway and have no regrets.The job was done in the time frame promised, and the final cost was in line with what had been quoted to me. I got a ride back to Lansdale to pick my car up and met with Steve. He offered to show me what had happened to my transmission and brought Randy into the office. They produced the part(s) that had failed and explained what had occurred. Although I had complete faith in them and their assessment of the need for major overhaul, I felt this detailed explanation was good customer service. Steve went over the invoice and the warranty and the recommended free follow-up. No unpleasant surprises.I drove home and there was no strange behavior, rattles, etc. I couldnt even tell that my car had undergone such major service - except the fact that the transmission operated like new. Impressive.So 2 years and 30k miles of around-town, family trips and long range 23 boat hauling, the transmission in my Suburban operates perfectly. No weird noises, hesitation, strange shifts, pauses, lurches, leaks etc.Coincidentally, to the day this is the 2 year anniversary of my picking up my Suburban from Meenan. Last week I was making a three-hour drive, pulling a two ton boat on a tandem axle trailer in the sweltering 92 degree heat in stop and go traffic. Even though the transmission was working flawlessly, I had some concerns about the temperature, considering that I was putting it through the worst possible conditions. I decided to give Meenan a call in the off chance that I would get somebody that could give me some constructive advice about towing and transmission temperatures.Steve answered the phone and a half an hour later I had a much better understanding about towing, transmissions and operating temperature. Steve Took considerable time explaining all of the factors that come into play and answered every single one of my questions.That is certainly service after the sale!

I recently had a frustrating issue with my Toyota RAV not willing to cover a defect with the ECM causing transmission issues/failures. I was all ready to buy another car even though I am comfortably happy with this one and always drove Toyota. My wife found Steve from Meenan who has been patient, honest, and a pleasure to work with. My repair shop originally was going to do a tune up/transmission maintenance but said that it needed to be replaced. Steve did the maintenance and it has been driving much better. He could have easily upsold me. Not sure if I still need a transmission down the road but if I do it is great knowing that there is an honest local shop. He has my future business for sure. My 97 GMC K2500 with 220000 miles had a very loud whining noise when starting from cold and would eventually go away as the truck warmed up. I first took the truck to cottman transmission down the road in Lansdale PA and they couldnt tell me what the noise was without dropping the whole transmission and doing a $550 look around. Was a bunch of bull because I took the truck over to Meenans the next day and they used a stethoscope to tell the noise was coming from the pump/filter area. All they needed to do was drop the pan and replace the filter as well as a fluid flush. The loud whine is completely gone and the hesitation from park to drive is normal as well. Long story short do not go to cottman and instead save yourself the trouble and just go Meenan. Now over to the cottman page to write a bad review.

Honesty which is hard to find in automobile industires. I am glad that I tried them. I drove my 1998 honda Accord to have a second opinion on transmission which was giving a bang when going 1st to 2nd gear. Steve Meenan at Meenan Transmission did a road test and explained every little aspects on transmissions about how it works.I was amazed to see that if you have some financial problem on auto bills than he can work with you on that too for possible solutions. If you are having vehicle trouble that you suspect is transmission related, listen to my story: i began experiencing symptoms that felt like a shuddering in the drivetrain whenever the vehicle shifted into overdrive. i feared it was either the torque converter or the transmission. a mechanic friend of mine suggested i get a free diagnosis at a certain national chain transmission shop. against my better judgement, i took his advice. after diagnosing my problem, i was told by the manager of that shop that my problem was indeed caused by a problem in the transmission, and that it would need to be completely rebuilt to fix it, at a cost of nearly $3000. the diagnosis seemed suspicious to me. i declined the transmission rebuild there, and went to see Steve at Meenans. Within 2 minutes of taking me out for a drive, he proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with my transmission or my torque converter. he demonstrated that a simple engine misfire was what was occurring, which is common in my model vehicle when it is due for a 100k mile tuneup. ultimately, an ingnition coil pack (replaced during tuneup) was to blame for the trouble. Meenans saved me thousands of dollars in unnecessary repairs, tackled a difficult tuneup for much less than the dealership quoted, and has proven to me that outstanding technical expertise, combined with solid ethics, honesty, and value can still be found in a local shop.
