CarMax has established themselves as one of the best used car sales company, and every time I have been there, they have never disappointed. They are very friendly and courteous with their customer service and the vehicle prices are fairly reasonable. Also, if you need a vehicle from another of their locations, they can get it delivered to the location you choose (though sometimes you may have to pay a fee to do so, depending on how far the vehicle is). Overall, my experience with them has been pleasant and I would encourage anyone to try them.

I traded my car in for a 2018 Volvo S60 T5. It was sent from the King of Prussia location to Lancaster. Natalie was extraordinary with a level of service I had never before received in my entire life! When we learned that KoP hadnt sent the title I initially thought that I would not be getting my new car....but Natalie made it all happen and I drove my Volvo home that day! She took care of everything for me from helping me as soon as I entered the store (for some reason, when I called the day before, they wouldnt make an appointment for me and told me to just go into the store and buy the car???) Natalie was going to have me wait at first- but decided to immediately help me without waiting...she contacted the KoP store- they verified they had the title and it was magic from that moment until I drove off the lot...If you are in the market for another car- I highly recommend Carmax and especially Natalie!

My overall experience at CarMax has been great! My Sales Rep Luann has been awesome in helping me find the best vehicle within my budget and accommodating me with any assistance I have needed!They have a wide selection of used vehicles with great mileage and in good condition, and they work with people who have less than perfect credit history! Not to mention the 30 day money back guarantee if you don’t love 💕 it! I still have not found “The One” but I think the third time will be a “Charm!”I recommend CarMax if you are looking for your first time car that fits your budget!Awesome customer service from start to finish!

I bought a 2013 Mazda 2, twenty-six thousand miles, on Labor Day, about a week later took it to my mechanic to check the brakes out he said the brakes on the front and the rear are bad the vehicle should have never passed inspection so I called you guys you couldnt get me in till October 7th and then you did not offer me a replacement for my vehicle to use why you fix the problems you should have fixed so I was not able to bring my car in oh, still have not heard back Meanwhile my brakes are getting worse especially on the front and you also sold me a vehicle without a service manual owners manual oh, I have three switches buttons on this vehicle I still do not know what they are for this is unacceptable and you have the nerve to tell me to buy and you will reimburse me know with the money I paid for this vehicle you should be paying for everything the manuals and doing the brakes and everything for free so I would appreciate if somebody we get back to me schedule a time to get the brakes done also the wipers on the vehicle are bad for the front windshield oh, so maybe somebody will get back to me he recommend that I bring the vehicle down to the state police barracks to the dot Department and let them inspect the brakes so hopefully someone will get back to me unless this is the way you conduct business so get back to me get my brakes done and give me a vehicle to use why you are doing my work or give me a Saturday appointment quickly, respectfully David W Robinson, US Navy veteran Im very disappointed other than that the vehicle is fine

There are a lot of cars to choose from, however I had a lot of trouble getting in a vehicle that didn’t need maintenance from the word go. So I went through three cars in a month and a half because I refused to drive a car that needs maintenance from the time I buy it used or not. What happened to the 125 point inspection. Other than that I got coffee and met some cool people.

Takes a long time, returned a vehicle got another was there over 3 hrs and I didn’t even test drive or anything, however it was worth it customer service is amazing. I am also at this point extremely happy with my car. Just make sure your day is free and clear. I would like to add that for a lot of people who might have issues with their car they purchased; know you’re vehicles. If an older car is for sale with low miles, that isn’t always a great thing. How long has the car been sitting? That is never good. If it’s a vehicle that has high miles unless it’s a Toyota, Honda, Mazda or some others might have some issues you might not either. In 1997 I bought a brand new vehicle first and only time. I got 5 miles down the road and the car died. This car ( Ford) had 10 miles on it. I went thru this for 1 yr always being told it was this it that. Finally got rid of it. You never know what you might get with any vehicle. I agree inspection is supposed to be done and you should be good for awhile, but like everything else in the world now you have to rely on yourself, you can’t trust everything and everyone. I purchased a Buick, now they are not top of the line however they are usually pretty solid built vehicles. It has 43,000 miles and I will not keep over 75,000 because at that point you usually start putting money in a vehicle unless it’s certain makes as mentioned above. I had a Honda Civic when I was 17 had 150,000 only work put in it was tires and batteries.

These peoples vehicles are junk. Back in 2015 they sold me a 2009 Corolla which I found out after purchase it had engine problems. Instead of letting me return it they tried to say it was different issues and insisted on fixing it. By the time they actually figured out the problem it was to late for me to return it and they did rebuild the engine but 5 years later and I’m out a car. This year I sold them my new kia and while they gave me a price I couldn’t ignore which was nice they tried to sell me two trucks that upon the test drives I could tell had transmission and front suspension issues. I didn’t want to buy a vehicle from them anyway because of my first experience buying a car but I noticed their process had changed so I figured I’d have a look see. Glad I did because it confirmed that they just sell cars main dealers don’t want because the vehicles have issues.

I came to CarMax with a slight idea of what I wanted. Natalie, my sales consultant, worked with me to find a family car that best suit me and my husband. She was extremely patient with me as this was the first time I was financing a car. I was using outside financing so she made sure to inform me of all the documents I needed before coming in to sign the paperwork.Jen did my paperwork. She explains everything so thoroughly. She has an amazing personality and made the paperwork process seamless and stress free! I absolutely loved her!

Hands down the best car buying experience I’ve ever had. I took care of the financing online/by phone in advance through Carmax. It took minutes and was offered a competitive rate. Once I got to the store, Austin was the associate who greeted and took care of us. All the staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, and most importantly weren’t pushy in regards to trying to sell us additional services. Everything was so streamlined and easy, even though it was a long drive, I would highly recommend. Thank you, Lancaster staff! You guys are awesome!

Great workers. Terrible system.First, we paid for a transfer on an SUV labeled “manual transmission” and discovered it was an automatic. Our fee was refunded and we started the process all over on another SUV.We went into the Lancaster store twice after our vehicle arrived. The first night we spent an hour and a half filling out paperwork and took a test drive. The title wasn’t ready so we were told we’d have to come back another day. No problem.The second day, the car was ready to go but it STILL took another three hours to get the car. Whenever I buy vehicles from local dealers, the entire process from start to finish is less than two hours. Not counting the transfer process and everything we filled out online beforehand, we had to sit and wait four and a half hours in the store.The workers were great. The system was terrible. We’ll be buying from little local dealers from now on.

After purchasing a car (which I had to take back for repairs as it started making noises 20 minutes after driving off the lot) I did more research and decided the maxcare extended warranty was not for me. I called to cancel and was asked if I would like my refund as a check or credited to the card I used. I opted for check as I had already paid off the card using my savings account and would like to put that $2754.94 back in to savings. I emailed my mileage and received a response saying I would be getting a full refund and should receive my check in about two weeks. A few weeks go by and I check my card statement online and see my card was credited. I email asking if we can correct this mistake and am told since it has already been processed there is nothing to be done. I reminded her I had specifically asked for a check and her email stated I would be receiving a check. I asked if perhaps I could come in to the office and have my card charged again and then have a refund check written out. She responded saying because my card was still active the refund went directly back to it, she spoke with her manager and he also said there was nothing to be done, and she was sorry for the confusion. No confusion here maam, I was given two options, I chose one, your office made a mistake, a $2700 mistake, and I would like it fixed. I call to speak to her manager personally, not expecting him to make any effort to correct his employees mistake but planning to see if someone above him can fix this. Of course I was awkwardly told he was busy when I called, then he was of course busy again when I missed his call and called him back 30 seconds later. He did not return my call again until after 8pm the next night while I was working. Fed up with the incompetence and unprofessional manner of everyone in the business department, I called my credit card company and they very easily and kindly sent me a check for the credited amount, correcting the mistake made by CarMax.I am sure it would have been a little tricky to fix this mistake made by CarMax, and if it were only a few hundred dollars it would have been water under the bridge. But $2700? That took a long time for me to save up and where that much money is concerned I would think a little more effort could be made, surely there is a string or two that can be pulled. No confusion on my part, just a flat out mistake on theirs..

We walked through and a lot of the cars were not available yet. It would be so much nicer if they had them in another location, that way it would be easier to see the cars that were available. I hate having to go back to edit a review. But my experience since the sale has been awful. My 85 Ford pickup and 93 Sable are more reliable than the car Carmax sold me. Ive sunk so much money into this car repairing things that should have been done in the first place its kind of stupid. But i cant effectively use the extended warranty i got because the closest CarMax is an hour away. (Had to move after purchasing. Sorta my fault and not the reason for the bad review.) The biggest reason for the change in the review is i had some work done to repair a miss fire and the indicated work was NOT completed. I had to go back in, purchase the parts, and do it myself. And when ignition coils cost $270 a pop, its a little salty. As am I.

If you are looking to sell your car, I would highly recommend CarMax. I did the online offer with CarMax a few days ago along with two other online companies, VRoom and Carvana. Both came in considerably lower. I thought, I will get there and they will probably change the offer amount for some reason. Nope, they offered me exactly what was quoted. I had a great experience with both buying and selling at CarMax and will gladly go there next time I purchase my next car.

I love this place. I just purchased my fifth car there. The staff is great especially salesperson Mike Esposito. Very personable man. I dont have the greatest credit so for me to say I purchased my 5th car here says a lot. Ive even taken advantage of the 30-day guarantee and returned a car on day 27 no questions asked and and now in my permanent favorite car. I like knowing that I can go in with no money down and walk out with a car as I am single parent whos raised three children & I could never have money to put down. CarMax did not judge me and helped me walk out with a car all five times

Initially, I was very excited to work with CarMax. The whole idea, of how they make purchasing a car EASY... Sounds great.UNTIL... you actually begin the process. I received so SO many mixed messages, over nearly 2 weeks. Someone would tell me the Jeep arrived, then someone would tell me, it did not. Another team member told me that the title did not arrive yet, then a day later - It was here. Next day, I was told the title was not there. They told me the testing for the car - was going on for days. I highly doubt this was true. Lastly, in order for the title to come in a timely manner, I actually had to call the store where the Jeep was coming from - and request for it to be sent to the Lancaster store. VERY BAD customer service. An employee should have done this, NOT the customer.I am happy that I have my JEEP; however, I was nearly 2 seconds away from not wanting this car anymore and EVEN MORE SO, NOT wanting to deal with CarMax. I have a lot of patience... but they took it all. I was extremely frustrated, wasted A LOT of time on hold and on the phone, and was so stressed for so many days. It should not be like this. I would really not recommend someone to go with CarMax... unless you want to be stressed, irritated and waste a large amount of time. I have to say, I am still just recovering from being so upset - over the past few weeks. Really bad experience.

I didnt purchase my car from this location, but shortly after I bought my car at the White Marsh, MD, Carmax, I brought mine here to have it PA inspected. I appreciated that they did this for free since I just bought it across state lines.2 months after my inspection at Manheim Pike, I started hearing a loud rubbing noise while braking. They agreed to look at it since it was still under the initial 4,000mi warranty.I was told they couldnt replicate the loud rubbing noise, took apart the brakes and couldnt find anything wrong. I was quite sure there was a rotor issue, but, the noise did disappear.. .. until 2 weeks ago (Sept).With less than another 2,000mi on the car, the noise was back and louder than before.I took the car to my trusted mechanic who discovered that the front rotors were delaminated and in really bad shape. He said theres no way it wasnt an obvious issue when Manheim Pike Carmax passed it off as nothing back in mid July.To my surprise, I called Carmax to notify them of this very obvious oversight and they agreed to pay for the repair even though my warranty ran out.I super appreciate their gracious resolution of this issue, and doing what was right by their customer. But, with that said, I would NOT recommend using their service dept for any reason. Have your own trusted mechanic do any work needed!!

Did an application to help my sister in law with a vehicle. They started accusing us of things we DID NOT do. I decided to come off of the application because it was best for her and they denied her after getting a approval from a bank. Troy told her to go somewhere else. This is not how you treat customers, also Natalie ran our credit multiple times she was aware of what was going on. She should be held accountable for this. Troy had absolutely no right to deny our application after getting an approval from a bank THEYRE the ones giving CarMax the money for the vehicle NOT YOU Mr Troy. Easy to get an initial offer on the website. Once I went to do the in person evaluation, the offer didnt change and it was 4000 over what the dealer I bought my new car from was going to give me.The staff was very friendly and was apologetic about the long wait during the evaluation. If I could do zero stars I would. Junk cars and scam artists. They had to buy back the first one I bought after going back and forth for months with service. Kept saying nothing wrong nothing wrong. Car was leaking oil from all over. Having electrical problems with second car now and havent even had it 6 months yet! And expensive scam. Wish I could take my purchase back and go somewhere else.

I scheduled an appointment at CarMax to have someone look at our car and give us an offer. All I can say is, “wow!” My husband and I were blown away by the professionalism and kindness we were shown. Amanda greeted us when we arrived and she assisted us along the way. A gentleman took pictures of our car and before we knew it, our offer was ready. We accepted the offer and another individual prepared our paperwork and check. The facility was spotless and everyone was maintaining Covid precautions. This was my first time buying a new car, and also my first experience in applying for credit. Once I chose a car online and filled out the application I was called immediately thereafter and taken through the whole process. I went into the office the following day and the sales person worked with me through many trials and tribulations that ended with me driving my new car home 2 days later. The salesperson worked literally non-stop, jumping over each hurdle right along side me and fought for me until we got the desired outcome of me owning the exact car that I wanted and chose in the first place.

I found the truck I wanted in New York, they shipped it to the Lancaster CarMax and now its in my driveway in South Central, PA. :-)30 day money back guarantee is a nice touch, too.I handled nearly everything online, so if you dont want to go in person, thats a great option. My visit and experience at the Lancaster Pennsylvania Carmax was excellent. Their sales associates are pretty awesome and went above and beyond. If I was to make a suggestion to make the overall experience better it would be for other Carmax dealerships to hold their cars to the same quality standards as Carmax Lancaster does. Ive learned from this experience that not all Carmax dealerships are equal. When I brought in 2 different cars that I ended up not wanting both times Carmax Lancaster made things right and did the right thing in refunding my transfer bill. My wife and I had a absolutely fantastic experience at CarMax in Lancaster. They gave us a great price on our trade in, and their service was absolutely fantastic. We worked with Denise and she was great. She was polite and answered all of our questions. She even made sure our two year old daughter had a place to color. We had been shopping for three weekends and completely wore out. We chose our vehicle and Denise and the team worked with us until about 10:30 on a Saturday night to make sure we finished our purchase that night. The gentleman that valued our car stayed past closing to finish our trade in and Denise and the ladies in the business office worked with us until the deal was completed an hour and a half past closing time, which we were so thankful for. We have very limited time due to our schedules and them working with us was so much appreciated.After the deal on Monday we had some other issues and again CarMax was great in working with us and treated us above and beyond what we expected.My wife and I had a great experience and are super happy.Thanks Denise and everyone at CarMax for a great experience.

She brought the car outside the showroom so we could look at it and get inside, again answering any questions we had. We were pleased with the car which was stopples inside & out, was exactly as stated on the website and ran well so after completely a quick form we were off on a test drive by ourselves so we could talk freely about our opinions of the car. Returning to the dealers we were again met by the rep who asked what we thought and if we had any additional questions. The final step of buying the car were simple and we were soon on our way home with our new (to us) car. At no point in the process did my wife or I feel that we were being pressured into buying this car. It was the most relaxed car buying experience I think Ive ever had and would recommend (and have already) CarMax to anyone looking to buy a car.

I had a noise coming from one of my tires. I stopped in CarMax. And they took care of the problem. Less than an hour. Great place to buy a car or truck. I bought a truck and a car from CarMax last year. Everyone was very helpful. I just bought another Truck. Great place to go shopping for a Truck.

Consultant and clerical staff were great. CarMax price was too high...about $1,000 under MSRP for a 5-year old vehicle. Later, I found the original buyer’s sales slip in the glove box. I actually paid more. Vehicle only had 6K miles on it so there weren’t any real comparable listings to point to. Feeling ripped-off, not going back or recommending to anyone.

UPDATE!!!! NUMBER 2 IS MY BIGGEST ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. So I’ve had this car about a month and started to notice some things that are off... 1 being the driver seat backrest is slanted to where I can feel the left side of my body being back more then right side... 2. My passenger door is a different shade of silver and you can feel the run marks of the paint where it was repainted but said 0 accidents on car report. 3 navigation doesn’t work properly at all has me going down one way roads that have always been one ways. 4 they replaced two tires with some really cheap tires instead of matching Goodyear’s so it just throws it off... ORIGINAL REVIEW....So when I originally went in I was kind of nervous knowing that I did not have good credit. I tried a few places before this but the down payments were through the roof. I went online and filled out a preapproval thing and got approved within a few minutes it was very easy I went in a few days after that test drove the car and walked out with the vehicle an hour and a half after seeing the car. Everything was exactly what I was looking for the car ran good and everything seemed great. Update the car has begin to had a few issues but I did call in and it seems like they are going to take care of everything they really make you feel like they want you to have the best vehicle you can have Also make you feel like you’re not getting ripped off. I do have a service scheduled so I’m going to see if that fixes the issues that I’m having with the car and there is one more issue I was going to bring up but that will come after the electrical issues I’m having with the vehicle. So once that is all said and done I will have a final review on the purchase of my vehicle

CarMax is convenient because of the selection. Multiple makes, styles, and colors. Sales team is friendly & efficient - it does get busy so if youre planning on buying a car (you can go and just walk around) schedule an appointment to avoid waiting.The reason for only 3 stars is that transferring the car payment to my personal bank was a 7 day affair. For several days I went from my bank to carmax and back to my bank. The staff was friendly but the process was terribly inefficient.Overall I would recommend and despite the headaches I would shop there again.

Carmax is the only way i will buy and sell vehichles in the future. I always had bad experiences with car dealerships I am suprised that carmax has not put car dealerships out of buisness. I would NEVER buy another from your dealership ever again. My Husband bought a 2016 jeep Renegade car from you 6 months ago and had more problems with that car then my 2012 Chrysler town and country I bought 5 years ago.We have taken that car in for more issues then any car we had in total. BUYER BEWARE bring a certified mechanic with you for your car before you leave that lot. Or it will cost you out of pocket after 6 months.

My Husband and I went to car max with the knowledge of what we wanted, how much we intend to put down and knowledge of our credit score. Joshua greetes us at the entrance we explain what we are looking for. Joshua directed us where to go see the car we wanted. He took the time to explain to my husband about the car and sold us the car. Joshuas demeanor and the way he treated made our first time experience the best we ever had buying a car. For the first time ever, we purchased a car via CarMax and what a great experience! From the moment we walked into the showroom until we left several hours later, we were pleasantly surprised. Although we had driven a distance to test drive a particular model, we ended up purchasing a different vehicle. All of the vehicles on the lot were unlocked so we were able to open them open, sit in them, and look them over thoroughly WITHOUT someone peering over our shoulders or pressuring us. We then chose a few to test drive and then made our decision. The employees helped us with a no-pressure attitude and were quite friendly. It is apparent that management has passed down a good culture. We really recommend the CarMax experience to anyone considering the purchase of a vehicle! FYI...Maddie, our CarMax assistant, worked tirelessly and happily, to help us find the perfect vehicle for us. Shes a wonderful employee there at the Lancaster CarMax location!
